Popsycal did you get my e-mail, sent on the 25th?

norash · 27/05/2005 16:35

Kieran has eczema as well, a really bad case on his head and face. He too has a cream for it.

norash · 27/05/2005 16:39

Oh and sorry if stupid question but what is 'tummy time' or should I ask why is it necessary.

jambot · 27/05/2005 16:46

Apparently you are supposed to put them on their tummies to play as they no longer sleep on their tummies, Due to this they don't use certain muscles that are important for crawling. So say the baby books, so I'm giving it a go.

norash · 27/05/2005 17:54

Kieran sleeps on his tummy sometimes as he rolls himself on to his tummy.

shalaa · 28/05/2005 10:26

Tummy time is meant to help strengthen the muscles in babys neck and back, helping them to sit up ect

jambot · 28/05/2005 13:59

Just had a look at the baby pics. All gorgeous - hark at the hair on Rebecca and Serena. Makes them look much older than they are. Look like proper little girls. I thought Lauren had a lot but she's got nothing on those two.

Pidge · 28/05/2005 16:59

Oh my goodness - what gorgeous babies we have! I have added a couple of my baldy baby Iris. Only have the newborn ones with me in Wales, so imagine a rather fatter version now at nearly 12 weeks.

I am a bit hopeless over tummy time too - Iris lasts maximum 2 minutes on her front and then generally goes mad and is inconsolable, even if you pick her up. So I avoid it unless feeling strong!

Have just dispatched dp, dd1 and Iris up a Welsh hill to wear them all out, whilst I do mumsnet and contemplate my knitting project! Went on a little steam train this morning, which delighted dd1 - Iris as usual slept through the whole experience.

Does anyone here try a 'dreamfeed' breastfeed at 10pm ish? If so do you offer one side or two? I'm currently giving Iris one side, as it's such a battle to rouse her enough to latch on once, I really can't face trying to get her on the other side as well. But maybe it would be worth it if she would sleep longer. She never manages more than 4-5 hours, often it's more like 3 hours after that feed.

norash · 28/05/2005 17:32

Hey Pidge I am glad you are enjoying yourself. Your girls are soooooo cute.

Ava will be 8 weeks on Tuesday and as much as I havent consciously pushed for a routine, she generally goes down between 7-8 pm and wakes at about 4am for a feed. She doesnt do this everynight but has done for the past week or so, needless to say I am very happy

I do plan to introduce a more stricter routine when she is 3 months old and its going to be tough!! She is the most wilful baby if ever there was, she may have fallen into a natural routine by then, so fingers crossed.

So how do I get Ava's photo up with the rest?!

Hi, I've added another pic of Faith to the photobucket. Gosh, don't they grow quickly! Each stage seems to be passing so fast, I feel she'll be starting school before I know it! DD2 starts this coming September and DD1 has already been there nearly a year.

Faith was cooing at me yesterday morning - we lay in bed together for over an hour, just "chatting"!! - DH was at work and DDs 1 and 2 were asleep (it was 5:30am!), anyway, Faith was getting very excited with all the noises she was making. She gave lots of smiles and then made a totally new sound......."mumumumum"!! I know she's not saying mum, but she sounded lovely .

Well I have managed to put all my weight back on - well, except for 2lbs. So I have 3 weeks to lose as much weight as I can or I'll look dreadful in Faiths baptism pics. I am really going to set my mind to it, I caught sight of myself the other day and I look more pregnant now than I did when I was pregnant!

I was this weight just before I got pg and had bad sickness early on, then never really regained full appetite and ate really healthily while expecting, so much so I lost lots of weight and was over a stone lighter when Faith was born. I am so hungry all the time I'm finding it tough to resist eating - one of my mates reckons it's the breastfeeding - I've just got to take control now or I'll end up really fat and unfit. I'm about 3st over weight .

Hope everyone else is doing ok, Norash how are you getting on?

ZoeC · 29/05/2005 10:45

Hi - I've added another pic too - actually managed to get her to smile for the camera

I'm in shock after last night - put her in her own room for the first time as she's been going to sleep at about 7pm and we wake her when we go to bed. She didn't wake until 2am, I fed her in there (less than 10 minutes it took ), put her back in the cot awake and she went back to sleep until 7am .

God I hope she repeats that from now on! Might stop me contemplating mixed feeding if she does!

Got to try and convince her to take a bottle of ebm again - when I go back to work in the evenings she'll have to. She did at first but now she sees it and goes ballistic. Will have to persevere over the next few weeks. Not going to go back until October so plenty of time.

jambot · 29/05/2005 13:22

I think Lauren's refux is rearing its ugly head again. She is extremely restless at night, especially after her night feed, and is arching her back when drinking her bottle. Today she stopped drinking and let out a little scream of pain! Think the acid must be coming up her throat. Mixed infant Gaviscon into her night feed last night and she seemed to sleep more restfully. Woke at 6:00 - which mummy thinks is too early - I tucked her blankets in and shushed her and she lay there, dozing until 6:45 - a more civilised hour! Going to get some medicine called Losec from the paediatrician this week, which is apparently brilliant for acid reflux. Really do feel sorry for her and can sympathise as I had terrible heartburn when pregnant with her.
She is also full of sounds and started on clicking, kissy kind of sounds this morning. She doesn't stop talking when on her changing mat - think she's going to be a chatterbox.

norash · 29/05/2005 16:42

hello everyone, just suffaced from bed . Went out last night with the girls and left Kieran and his Daddy alone.
Kieran was really good slept from 9pm to 4.30 am then fed and went back till around 8am . I hope that this stays the same from now.

Leogaela · 29/05/2005 21:13

Well done Norash! I still haven't had an evening out without Niklas, but it is due... a friend has a hen night in 3 weeks!

Have fantastic weather here in zurich at the moment, we went to the outdoor pool yesterday and a lake today. The water was too cold to do more than put Niklas's feet in, but I had a good swim!

THis morning dh got out of bed around 7.30 (after I had fed Niklas) to change his nappy. I dozed in and out of sleep, heard lots of Niklas noises and eventually woke up at 11.30 when he was crying and needed feeding again. Was very happy to have such a good lie in and that he had played so happily with dh the whole time! He is NEVER that good with me in the mornings!

I'm having a milk low day today, don't know what it is but every now and then I just feel really empty , Niklas wouldn't sleep and was just fussing when I was feeding him and he spent a long time on my breasts, after which I managed to get him to empty a bottle of milk and he has now dropped off to sleep!

3mummy, I too feel as if I still look pregnant. And I'm heavier than I have ever been when not pregnant (apart from the first few weeks after). Its taking me some time to get used to the permanent changes ot my body. Good luck with losing it! Hope you have more idea than I do how to do it!

norash · 30/05/2005 09:32

Well hope you enjoy your night out when it comes.

Kieran was good again last night went to bed at 9.30pm-5.30am was fed 10mins went back down and slept till 8.30am. I hope things stay this way for a while at least.

Leogaela · 30/05/2005 09:44

Norash, that's great!

Popsycal - how is harry doing?

isn't it great how the babies are so entertained by their own voices ;)! Niklas this morning Niklas was laying around for ages staring at nothing interesting and talking to himself!

His best trick at the moment is to move him self around the floor to get what he wants, he has a problem to move his head though so he moves around in a circle!

norash · 30/05/2005 09:49

Kieran too seems to be talking all the time now, spoke to himself all day yesterday and this morning was sitting in his swing talking to himself for an hour.

Leogaela · 30/05/2005 13:09

what kind of swing do you have for him Norash?

norash · 30/05/2005 13:29

It's the Fisher price 'Aquarium Take Along Swing'

norash · 30/05/2005 13:41

Why? You got one? Kieran loves his.

Leogaela · 30/05/2005 13:52

no, but it sounds like a good idea! I'll have a look at it!

I've put a couple more photos up on our photo page.

Leogaela · 30/05/2005 13:53

aha! its the swing seat in the photo you put up?

norash · 30/05/2005 13:54

There is a picture of him in it in the bucket.

Pidge · 30/05/2005 16:48

Boo hoo - last day with broadband access, so I fear my mumsnet logons might get a bit more erratic again. I vow to sort out our computer at home and set us up with broadband too so I can get on more often.

Can't believe the holiday has gone so fast - we have had a blissful time. And the last two days it's been hot enough (just!) to hang out on the beach and dig sandcastles with dd1. She has been in paradise.

Iris did her best ever sleep last night 10pm till nearly 4am, though she's going through a phase of being difficult to put down at 7pm, which I think is because her bedroom here is so light. So I'm kind of looking forward to getting home and sorting out her bedtime again.

Tonight dp and I are going out for a meal and my parents are babysitting - what a treat. Also means they get to jiggle and rock Iris whilst she yells herself to sleep!!!
