JoPG · 24/07/2005 20:26

Nope, me neither.
It was a year after my 1st child before I had a period.

popsycal · 24/07/2005 20:39

no period

Pidge · 24/07/2005 20:56

Had to laugh Leogaela at your baby rice deception!

Here our sleep turmoils have improved at least with our older daughter. We are telling her that her room is locked to stop her getting out of bed. Since the door doesn't actually have a lock we put her to bed, stand outside the door and after a few minutes she comes to test the handle, so you hold it tight and then she goes back to bed and goes to sleep!!

If only Iris were so easily fooled. She went down after much protesting at 7.30pm, has already woken at 8.30pm and no doubt will be doing her now familiar 11.30pm wake up, which has been going on for 10 days. Oh well ...

The holiday here is lovely though - at least we can catch up on sleep during the day with my mum and dad to help out.

Pidge · 24/07/2005 20:57

no period here either - didn't with dd1 until 10 mths.

jambot · 24/07/2005 21:00

I've had since about 8 weeks, but then I am the only one not breast feeding. For anyone who had a ceasar, is your scar numb. I can't feel the area directly on and around my scar at all. Can't believe my big baby came out of that little cut!
We went for a lovely drive out to Cape Point this afternoon(tip of Africa). It was a perfect winter's day and quite warm. Had a nice walk with Lauren in the pram to see the penguin colony. Not that she noticed much. Then sat on the beach and showed her the waves etc. She was more interested in the people on the beach than the scenery.
Is teething associated with more frequent poos? Lauren is giving me at least 3 hectic nappies a day. Normally one after the other in the morning and normally just after I've changed her. She's also got a bit of a nappy rash, but not sure what the cause is.

Leogaela · 24/07/2005 21:10

Periods - yes, one after about 6 weeks and then 2 more recently and I'm still bfeeding.

Caesarian scar - yes, its normal to be numb as they have to cut through 2 big nerves, the numbness should improve but won't go away completely. i hated it at first but have got used to it now, I'm also starting to get used to the scar now.

Jambot - the pooing and nappy rash could be to do with starting solids. It oculd be a reaction to one of the things she is eating. I went to cape point when I was in s.africa, very beautiful. And the baboons were amazing (for a tourist for about the first 5 minutes)!

Zurich was boring, dull and rainy today!

shalaa · 24/07/2005 21:14

Hello All!

Caleb is now wolfing down half a jar of baby food a day and would have more it i'd let him! No problems with feeding here! He's such a gorgeous little boy, full of smiles, I love him so much (sorry gone all soppy)

Thankfully no period as of yet! We've decided to try for number 2 around Calebs second birthday.

jambot · 24/07/2005 21:40

Don't think the rash is a food reaction. She's only been on pears and sweet potato so far and for about 3 weeks. Only adding extra goodies at 5 months. Don't think it helps that she nearly always does a big pooey nappy at night, so sleeps with this lot for some time. Am just coating her bum with cream after her bath to try and stop it. Doesn't seem to be bothering her though.
She was niggly yesterday, which I think was to do with the teething. Tried her with a teething powder rubbed onto the gums. Not sure if it worked but she slept ok. She was fine today.

Pidge · 25/07/2005 08:49

JUBILATION - Iris managed not to wake at 11pm! She did wake at 2am, 4am and 6am, and older daughter appeared in our bedroom at 5.45am, but went back to bed after that. I think I'm becoming obsessed by sleep. All in all, a good night!

Am being yelled at by dp to get off the computer and get in the shower as we're off on a little outing here in Mid Wales. So better obey!

popsycal · 25/07/2005 09:03

outstanding night for harry!

bonym · 25/07/2005 18:05

Hi everyone, and well done on the driving test Christina (all the best drivers pass 4th time - well I did anyway!)

Sleep not so great here recently. Am getting my come-uppance for being (just a little bit) smug about Grace sleeping through the night. She hasn't done so for about 3 weeks (well since our holiday) and not really sure why. Has been waking about 2.30am and then again about 5.30am - sometimes wants to feed, other times I can get her to go off again by giving her her dummy. Still exclusively breastfeeding so wondering if she's not getting enough calories during the day anymore. Don't really think she's ready for solids though - shows no interest in our food. I have tried to feed her more frequently during the day but she doesn't seem that bothered. Tried a dream feed at 10.30 last night and she didn't wake until 4.30am so a bit better.

She is really giggly now - I spend ages trying to make her laugh as she's just gorgeous when she does (well, she's always gorgeous ) and tickling usually does it! She loves to be pulled to a standing position - her legs are really strong and she always looks so chuffed with herself!

Bought her a Bumbo the other day and she looks so comical in it bless her - she likes being in it though.

Well done on the real nappies Pidge - I keep meaning to sort some out but haven't got round to it yet - which are you using?

Oh - had first period last week - was quite taken aback as they took ages to come back after I'd had dd1.

bonym · 25/07/2005 18:07

Oh - Pidge and Popsy - at your sleeping babes - I will have to have a serious word with Grace tonight .

BABYD · 25/07/2005 18:42

my c-section scar is still numb, which my consultant says is normal and it may stay thay way, i too cant believe my 10lb 4oz bouncing baby boy came out such a small hole!

jambot · 25/07/2005 19:39

Also bought Lauren a Bumbo today. She was driving me mad wanting to sit up all the time and moaning when I laid her flat. She only spent a bit of time in it as she was ready to have a nap, but she also seemed pretty keen on the thing. She's not ready to pull to standing yet but loves to be pulled to sitting. As soon as I hold her hands now and say 1,2,3, she's already lifting her legs in the air to do her bit in pulling up. Still not keen on 'tummy time'. Will tolerate it for a minute or two but then starts to moan.
Discovered a nasty little sore patch under her one armpit. Don't think I have been drying her under her arms properly. Put a bit of talc under her arms tonight to make sure it was nice and dry. She's really starting to enjoy her bath and doing a bit of splashing. Still bathing her in the baby bath on a bath stand, but don't think it'll be for much longer as the angle kills my back.

Leogaela · 26/07/2005 10:22

What's a Bumbo????

Popsycal - how did your 4 days back at work go?

bonym · 26/07/2005 11:16

Bumbo - they're fab!

Pidge · 26/07/2005 17:52

BoneyM - we were really lucky and inherited a whole load of nappies and wraps from a friend. Not sure what they are, but very easy to use. The only thing is first thing in the morning Iris seems to pee for Britain and is drenched through within an hour. Plus we're still using disposables at night and sometimes for convenience when we're out and about.

Dp and I have a night out with two friends who are also in Wales on holiday with family (it's my very oldest friend who I've known since the age of one, and who now has kids the same age as ours). Very excited to be going out!

Iris is yelling, so must go ...

popsycal · 26/07/2005 19:15

Work was cack....I have been very quiet on the whole aboutit.

Dreading september but trying to forget about it and enjoy my 6 weeks with my beautiful boys

JoPG · 26/07/2005 20:37

Freya loves her Bumbo too. She looks really funny in it and enjoys being able to watch DS1 playing. Has anyone tried out a door bouncer yet for their little one? I remember that we borrowed one for DS1 and he loved it, but I can't remember what age he was when we started to use it.
Went to the park today. DS1 loved it and was covered in sand by the time we came home - it is now all over the car. So far it is lovely not having to dash around on the school run, but ask me again in a few weeks time to see if I have changed my mind!

bonym · 26/07/2005 21:16

JoPG - Grace loves her door bouncer! There is a photo of her in it on the photobucket. Have you had photobucket details? Popsy set it up - you can CAT her for details (hope that's ok popsy?) if you don't have them.

Pidge · 27/07/2005 09:18

We have a door bouncer too - Iris thinks it's great. Though you have to be careful big sister isn't around, or it gets turned into something more akin to a bungie jumper.

Our night out was lovely - amazing food and a lovely time with our friends. Unfortunately Iris did wake up and scream inconsolably, but my marvellous parents didn't phone us until we were about to come home anyway. By that point she'd been screaming off and on for an hour, so was pretty agitated. And of course because she's breastfed they couldn't even console her with a bottle. Anyway, I fed her back to sleep and she (and my mum and dad) don't seem too scarred by the experience.

Off to the beach now, as the forecast says rain is due later today.

popsycal · 27/07/2005 09:26

We have a door bouncer somewhere Under the Stairs!

Suppose I ought to get under there and hunt it out for Harry before he is too big for it! It is a dangerous place though - Under The Stairs

Leogaela · 27/07/2005 12:23

Popsycal - sorry to hear you hated going to work. Was it the work or just leaving Harry and DS1 that was so bad? Is it not possible for you to be a SAHM for a few years? Could you not earn some money doing private lessons at home or something?

We went to see Niklas's nursery on Monday and it really hit me that I have less than 2 months to go back to work ! I want to go back but I am nervous about leaving Niklas, lots of emotions to go through before then I think. I am really glad I took an extra few months off.

Pidge - glad you enjoyed your night out. We went out without Niklas when we were on holiday. There were so many people around to entertain Niklas that he didn't notice we were gone and fell asleep in my sister's arms .

Pidge · 27/07/2005 17:55

I found going back to work last time very very difficult, even though I was only going back 3 days per week, and was in theory quite excited about it. This time I'm not returning till Iris is 10 months old, and feeling very lucky to be able to have this time with her.

We just had a blissful day on the beach - I even swam, which is pretty impressive given that this is wild and windy West Wales! Dd1 was in paradise digging in the sand and splashing in the sea, and I could already imagine Iris joining in with her in a year's time.

shalaa · 27/07/2005 20:02

Caleb also loves his door bouncer, should hopefully be getting one of those rucksack carriers through the post next week.

Really glad the work situation is sorted out, am thinking of training to be a teaching assistant so i'll have the same holidays as Caleb when he is older.
