Fi- just seen your lovely DCs and amazing cakes on FB .

Momino- hope H only has a mild dose of CP and gets better soon. We are still waiting to see if DS2 gets CP after being exposed to it last Monday, so another few days to wait.

We had a good night last night, DS2 woke at 3.30, quick feed and back in his cot at 3.45 until 7am. DS1 only woke once so a much better night all round.

It's my DDs last day in nursery today- I feel quite emotional about it. With being on ADs I haven't felt weepy for a while as they make you feel quite emotionally numb but i do feel I could cry. My little girl is growing up and will soon be at school.

LoobyLou36 · 27/08/2009 10:24

morning all

I too am about the meet ups

M slept 8.30 - 4am but woke herself up coughing she managed a good feed till 4.45 then slept till 7.30. Struggling a bit with the feeding at the mo tho due to her stuffed up nose.

SIL up from London again so may meet up with her, MIL and niece later depending on how M is.

Uh oh think she's just done a massive poo

Momino · 27/08/2009 10:51

pula, you've every right to be weepy, that's a big step for your DD. i can't believe i cried after dropping off DD2 on her last day in the under 2s room.

looby, hope M ok today.

thanks all for your well wishes to Harper. it's prob better she get it now anyway - she won't remember.

Momino- My DD seems too little to be going to school but I guess there will be some school starters who have spent every day with their parents so I am hoping with her going to nursery 2 days a week it will be a natural progression. I think I was sad as DH was taking her and collecting her too. She is very excited about finishing as it means she can take chocolate and raisins in for the other children and chocolates for her "teachers"

My DS2 is growing up fast too- in the last few days he has started reaching his hands out to bash his toys on the baby gym and bouncy chair, holding his hands together(very cute) and grabbing things, usually a muslin, my hair (ouch) or my top (showing my bra off).

Sorry for double post- not sure how that happened

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 27/08/2009 12:33

Good afternoon everybody.

A big hug to all those of you feeling sad! Sophia has just had her jabs, poor bubba. She was weighed too and has doubled her birthweight . Big fat muffin that she is.

I'm still in pain here, but I'm trying to feed S off that side as much as possible, much to her disgust! She prefers the fast-flowing right hand boob. 'Tis annoying, as it was fine all day, it felt like I was engorged on my drive home and then the lump came up .

Still, it's a minor issue!

Looks like being lovely and sunny here today, DD1 has just emerged from her vampiric lair so we may go out somewhere nice later, depending on how my little chubby sad baby is. What's everyone else doing today?

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 27/08/2009 12:55

I tell a lie, she hasn't doubled her birthweight, she's a lb or so off that. Slightly worrying that my GP can't work out kilos to lb's. Bless him

llareggub · 27/08/2009 12:55

Hello!

It's my birthday so I'm eating lots of cake!

Momino sorry to hear there is more CP. I hope it is a mild one.

Grumpy I hope your pain goes soon. Is it mastitis?

NZ a former work colleague has just emigrated. She left a very senior job to upsticks and move with her DH. It seems such an adventurous and amazing thing to do. If I could live anywhere it would be Austria or Switzerland. I just love the mountains and the beautifully clean air.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 27/08/2009 13:20

llare

Happy Birthday to you
You live in a zoo
You look like a monkey
and you smell of poo

Apparently, this is how you sing Happy Birthday, according to DD2

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 27/08/2009 13:26

And I don't think it's mastitis, I feel fine, it's just sooooooooore.

Have a lovely birthday and I hope you get spoilt rotten!

euromum · 27/08/2009 13:50

Happy Birthday llare! Enjoy your cake .

Momino I hope H's chickenpox clears up easily and quickly. Poor you have really been through it recently! I do hope she's not too unsettled with it.

Grumpy I hope the blocked duct clears up soon, sounds highly unpleasant. And well done S for gaining all that weight. With all this talk of emigrating I meant to ask, did I gather correctly that you are moving to France? There were quite a few pages on this thread that I didn't quite manage to catch up on . If so, bienvenue en Europe! (Because obviously our little island nation on the west coast is not really part of mainland Europe proper ). If not, well, never mind! Hope your move goes well, wherever you're going. I would love to move a bit further away than I already have, to the US ideally, but it'll be highly unlikely unless one of us can get our job posted there. And at least at the moment I'm near enough to the family. Still, Belgium's not exactly exotic, however good a spin I try putting on it . (Apologies Belgian for disparaging your motherland - apart from wildly unrealistic dreams of living in the land of 24 hour consumerism, I actually really wouldn't consider being anywhere else, that's how much I love this mad little country).

Well we have had a very tiring morning, for no reason at all apart from dd being really clingy and whining the entire time, from getting up all the way through breakfast, bath, trip to a friend's house and his local and VERY cool playground and then back for lunch. Just non-stop mummymummymummymummy while holding on to my legs and doing high-pitched repeptitive 'eeauh' noises. I am really not very patient with that kind of thing and have just been snapping far too much , which is not really fair because she's only 2 and doesn't get it. She's asleep now so I'm hoping I'll have got over it by the time she wakes up. It has demoralised me to the point of not wanting to bother getting out the P&T double buggy we've borrowed from friends, which was basically the most exciting thing I had planned for this afternoon! I will have to though as otherwise the promised trip to the park won't happen. And then lots of packing before we leave for the weekend tomorrow. Oh joy.

Sorry, I am actually in a foul mood and have just realised that I am grumbling at you lot in the same way that I grumble at dh. I'm relishing doing some wallowing in it . Please ignore!

Tummum · 27/08/2009 13:52

Llare Happy Birthday ! I hope you have a lovely day.

Grumpy hope the duct clears soon. It's funny to use our LOs as little vacuum cleaners but they do do the trick normally !

Gotta dash... latest career counselling sesh in 8 minutes....

euromum · 27/08/2009 13:56

Oops how did that happen???

Momino · 27/08/2009 15:22

euro, i really understand how you're feeling. dd1&2 can really bring my mood down when they're being clingy, whingy, etc. hang in there, it will pass .

grumpy, boob better this afternoon? do the hot flannel thingy. are you taking any pain relief?

llareggub, hope you're having a good birthday. have yer cake yet?

tummum, would love to hear what you think of career counselling. is it worth it? i think i really need that type of councelling.

OP posts:
euromum · 27/08/2009 15:46

Thanks for the reminder momino - yes it will pass!! You'd think I'd remember that given our thread title!

Well I have spent the last hour wrestling with the stupid P&T buggy and cannot get the newborn+toddler set up to work at all. because it would be so massively useful to take it with me for the weekend instead of the 3in1 pram AND the maclaren etc etc. Grumpy I think I need to steal your nickname for the afternoon, I cannot think of a more accurate description of myself [grouchy old hmmph noises]. And I believe I had said I would stop whining. Oh dear.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 27/08/2009 16:10

Boob improvement occurring here, still sore but the lump has almost one thanks to the vaccuum cleaner baby (love that one Tummum!).

Euromum poor you, I hope your day improves. Perhaps a large glass of something with tinkling ice this evening will help? And yes I am moving to France (this weekend eeeeeeeek). I am dreading the long drive to Portsmouth and the ferry journey, just me and the 3 girls (the 2 eldest bickering no doubt and S wanting to feed endlessly).

I have just agreed to yet another sleepover for DD1, I wish I hadn't as I'm knackered and S is sad, sad, sad. Oh well, they're usually pretty good when they're here. [hopeful face]

muddleddaizy · 27/08/2009 16:12

Llare Happy Birthday - enjoy the cake!!

Euromum, what prob are you having with the P&T?

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 27/08/2009 16:16

'almost gone'

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 27/08/2009 16:17

Oh my giddy aunt

pulapula · 27/08/2009 16:17

Euromum, if its a P&T e3, then you just put the second seat on top of the one already there, and then undo the clips under the main seat to lower the bit that holds the cocoon, if that makes any sense?

Tummum · 27/08/2009 16:57

Grumpy wow - are you really moving that quickly?! How are the DC about the move?

Monimo the career counselling has been really helpful for me. There are 2 types - one where you sit loads of tests & talk about your experiences and they say "You should be an XYZ" or the version I am doing, where you take a look at your career history, skills, experiences, values and beliefs and figure out for yourself what you want to do. It's been good for me to take some time out to have a think about things, and my decision has been to go back to work in Jan 4 days a week, and start my own business with a view to gradually reducing the days of week I work at the moment as the business builds. I am also hoping I get made redundant so I get paid to leave . I am seeing a Life Coach to do this work, so we have also covered a couple of issues that I wanted dealing with, which has also been really great. It's not cheap though at £50 a session, and I've had 5 sessions so far.

Euromum I reckon a large G&T might help you figure out how to work the P&T

FiKelly · 27/08/2009 16:59

happy birthday llareggub hope you've had a great day.

we're just back from visiting pals in exeter for her dd's 3rd birthday party. ds slept pretty much all the way home.. so may not go to bed at 7pm will wait and see..

euro i hope your afternoon was better than am.

glad the boob is less sore.. keep up the hot flannel treatment.

thanks for the kind words about my themed birthday cakes and dc's. the cakes were fun but hard to do as i had to do them while ds was awake with his 'help' and between g's feeds. i esp like the photo of ds & dh when we were at the zoo.. their heads on gorilla bodies

LoobyLou36 · 27/08/2009 17:43
