I've measured up the back seats in the camper so now I can order the cow print fur fabric I'm gonna wait till we go to the vanfest in 2wks to decide on the curtains

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 27/08/2009 17:59

Hi Loobs!

Cow print fur fabric for the seats. I like!!!

SpangleMaker · 27/08/2009 18:44

Happy birthday llareggub hope you're having a fab day

Looby great bargain!

Grumpy you sound so laid back about the move, I'm impressed! Sounds so exciting. Are your DDs looking forward la vie Francais?

Right, I have a gross question, sorry. I think H probably is quite a sicky baby. Most of the time it's just like regurgitated milk, or like water with white bits in, but over the last few weeks it's more thick & creamy. Is it normal, for it to change? One of the NCT girls whose DS is FF said a similar thing happened when she switched to hungry baby milk. Is it because the milk changes as they grow? I'm not worried as he's perfectly well, I was just wondering.

FiKelly · 27/08/2009 19:02

spangle G also voms bits with her burps.. consistency depends on how long ago her feed was. cottage cheese and clear stuff comes if it was a while ago.. creamy stuff if partly digested and not quite so long ago.. and pure milk if just fed and fresh.. does that help?

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 27/08/2009 19:19

spangle new pics of H are fab! I feel uber-protective about him, as he was the first of our babies, how sad is that?

Me laid-back?!?! I am pappin' and cackin' my amply-built pants about it. Just keeping it in, otherwise I would never shut up abaaaaaaaaart it. DH keeps questioning whether I'll be able to cope (he'll be in the UK every other week). I am ashamed to say I've always relied in him to make decisions and whatnot (mainly due to utter laziness), I haven't bought anything of any merit without running it by him first

llareggub · 27/08/2009 19:54

Blimey, moving so soon? I am in awe! We are definitely up for being guests at some point once your B and B is ouvert.

Thank you for the birthday wishes. |I've had a lazy cake-filled day. Back to exercise tomorrow.

runningmonkey · 27/08/2009 20:03

Hiya,
Been away for a couple of days and missed loads!

Happy Birthday llare Grumpy wow at moving so quickly. You are one brave and modest lady!

looby lush van, vanfest is really fun, if you're anything like us you'll spend loads of money on various camping gadgets. Mind you most of them have been really useful! Ooh I wish we were going now.

Right, DH is 'trying' to get Alys to sleep and seems to be winding her up into a frenzy. Better go rescue...

Belgianchocolates · 27/08/2009 20:28

Hi everyone;

Just checking in. I have been reading and keeping up, but no time to post + put off a bit by the annoying "azerty" key board too. (I keep doing q's instead of a's, etc...)

Anyhow. The trip here was fine. I went past our new house for a viewing and it's lovely. It's got character and is just beautiful. Just smaller and so the worry of where we're keeping things has kept me awake I finally managed to relax yesterday (thanks to hypnotherapy again and finally had some kip. So I feel great. The dcs on the other hand are shattered. My mum keeps insisting on having sleep overs with the dcs cousins. They're all sleeping in 1 room, so off course they kept playing. I'm glad that tonight they could finally have an early night and some rest. My mum keeps following me around with the phone since about 7 o'clock just in case DH phones . It's funny really, but she does still need to learn to relax a little.

grumpy How's the boob? Those little baby vacs are quite amazing aren't they? I can't believe you're emigrating already. You'll be fine. My DH does the week away week home thing and you really get used to it quickly. I'm actually a bit worried about finally living with DH full time. It's been 7 years since we've last done that! I think I'll miss my evenings on my own and especially having full control over the remote after 8.30 For your long drive down I can recommend a portable DVD player. That's how I've survived my dh-less drives to Kent/Belgium. C is actually OK. The car sort of lulls her to sleep and she tends to be OK for 3-4h.

llare Happy birthday! I hope you're enjoying your day today and have a cocktail on me

euromum I had been thinking about having a meet up with you while here, but I don't think that my family would appreciate me meeting someone that I only know from the internet and not with them, though I would prefer to meet up with you than some of my many aunties. Maybe one day... [hopefully dreaming emoticon] Oh and I know what you mean about the shops here: I keep forgetting about early closing times and lunch time closing when I'm here:

momi I hope the cp wont be too bad for H:

LoobyLou36 · 27/08/2009 21:12

M was knackered and fell asleep during her feed at 6.50, I can hear her sighing, snoring in her sleep and occasionally coughing on the baby monitor - I think it may be another disturbed night she's been so good today, despite feeling poorly. When she woke herself up this morning coughing I looked at her over the cot and she gave me the biggest grin.

LoobyLou36 · 27/08/2009 21:22

Found out today one of the mums from mum & baby group has lost her husband - killed in afghanistan last thurs - so sad she has a son, Charley, the same age as M

LoobyLou36 · 27/08/2009 21:23

she'd insisted on having an early cs (39wks) so her DH didn't miss the birth, he went to afghanistan a week after he was born

FiKelly · 27/08/2009 21:31

oh looby how awful for her.. that brings tears to my eyes

Tummum · 27/08/2009 21:43

Looby, that is a real tragedy

Morning [bleary eyed wave at everyone].

Looby what awful news.

Grumpy I hope your girls behaved last night and S is doing alright. Very impressed too with your move, and rather of your b&b idea even though I'm sure you will have your work cut out. We would love to do that too but are more thinking of eventually moving to some country-but-not-too-remote part of the UK, as a kind of move home. Once you're settled let us know where you are and we'll come and visit! Hope the drive goes well - it's what worries me most about this weekend too.

Thanks muddled and pula for asking about the P&T - the problem basically is that I don't have the instruction manual . It was given to my friend by someone who has moved away from Belgium and didn't want to bother taking it with her - as my friend's second baby isn't due till November she's lent it to me, but between us we were in such a toddler/preg/baby brain induced mess yesterday that I left the instructions behind. I tried looking them up online but it seems to be quite an old model (an explorer but not an e3??) and I can't find it - the newer ones have these hinges to attach the second seat on the front, which we definitely don't have, and the older ones talk about 'newborn wings' for zipping the seat on. I got as far as doing that and lowering the toddler seat, but then neither of the seats seem very well attached and there are straps flapping around that I can't attach to anything but look like they're supposed to be tied to something so it's a bit more solid. It sort of looks like you'd have bits floating around that your babies can fall out of . So if you know what on earth the problem is, I'd love your advice! It's hardly urgent though, it would have been really useful this weekend but until 2 days ago I was just planning to take our normal pram anyway, so will just do that even though it takes up twice as much space in the car. I did try booze as a remedy last night, but after 2 half pints of lager I found myself nearly crying with frustration and decided it was time to give up!!

Belgian I know exactly what you mean about visiting family in Belgium, it's exactly the same for us when we go to England. I don't really mind, but it is that we have lost touch with so many people over the years just because of not having time to see them on our flying visits. It would indeed make it difficult to meet up with new online friends! Hope you're having a good time at the moment anyway - enjoying what's probably the last of the good Belgian weather!

Right well I had better get on. Need to leave the house in an hour with everyone up and fed. I will be in a tent and thus offline for the next 4 days - don't talk too much or I'll never catch up !

Oops bump + wails = dd has just fallen out of bed. The household is now awake... better go!

Momino · 28/08/2009 07:06

Euro, would there be instructions for the P&T online? might be worth a google. we have one but I must admit to leaving my DH to do it.

morning all.
not too bad a sleep. I was so tired last night, fell asleep as soon as head hit the pillow. Harper seems to be sleeping through to 4/430 now then wakes for a feed. Problem is, she's wide awake after this feed so makes lots of noise. But we can't put her back in her bed after the feed because she protests loudly which wakes up dd1&2. she's fast asleep now looking serene.

dd2 is now starting to sing, I'd better hurry this post.

looby, about your friend.

Belgian, very exciting about the house. can't wait till you're all settled and comfy.

grumpy, lump gone today? laid back? I believe you are (even if you don't think so). Brave? immensely and you're not daunted. ahh, you're going to have such a good time and fun adventure. when are you heading out? can't wait to follow your story here/FB if/when you get the chance to post. still very .

best get going. inlaws here today to help paint the dining room and MIL to watch dd1&2. they're very kind to come so often and they have to brave the Leeds festival traffic today.

anyway, try to be back on later. hope all of you are well.

Morning all up 4 times last night so the sleeping through on Tuesday was due to jabs ! Happily, G is now taking a bottle OK (thanks for the BF recommendation Belgian) so I am going to start trying to give him formula as a last feed or dream feed to see what happens. I wouldn't mind if it was once a night, but four times is getting ridiculous.

We're off to South Wales for the weekend to visit the inlaws. I'm quite excited because we are taking our caravan for the 1st time, so will have our own space to retreat to. We haven't been down for a couple of years (last time was for SIL funeral ) and I am looking fwd to visiting all the beautiful places and taking the DC to see them. Will probably be quite a emotional return for us.

I am also this morning because I tried on, and fitted easily, into my pre-pregnancy jeans. Yay! So my £12 M&S cheapo specials are now being relegated to the scruffs section, and my lovely lovely lovely Hobbs jeans are now on. Yay, Slimming World is obviously working.

I'm going to running around packing like a mad thing in a minute, so have great weekends all, best of move with the move Grumpy!

llareggub · 28/08/2009 08:37

Woo hoo, well done on the weight loss Tummum. Say hello to Wales for me when you cross over, won't you? Or do as we do and put the windscreen wipers on!

euromum yes, google! I found my buggy instructions online. Or try youtube, sometimes people post handy video guides.

Birthday thank you for the birthday wishes all. I had a lovely day with too much cake.

Grumpy I really would like to hear how you get on. You will keep us updated won't you?

Belgian how is the packing going?

Looby what utterly tragic news. I don't know what to say really.

runningmonkey · 28/08/2009 10:14

Morning,

looby how awful for your friend, my thoughts are with her.

tum well done, think you might need a name change now!

euro no useful advice re buggy but hope you have a good time at greenbelt

Hi to everyone else.

I think the 12 week growth spurt has just started, a glued to sofa with a v hungry baby.

Belgianchocolates · 28/08/2009 10:40

Hi everyone,

I'm currently waiting for my best friend to come. We've known eachother since we were 2 yo and have never lost touch. She's also the only one who has ever bothered to come and visit me in England and the only one who always makes an effort to come and see me. She's bringing her lo too, it'll be the 1st time I've seen her lo since he was 6weeks old. He's now 2.5!

looby what sad sad news. I can't handle that sort of news very well. It's so upsetting. I'm sending my sympathies.

Euro definitely check out you tube. I learnt to use my sling thanks to the many useful vids. Have fun at the festival. You know my friend was on the Belgian news. She is a police officer and apparently she was standing by the helicopter these women used to rescue their bf from prison!

tummum well done on the weight loss. Not ¨ at all: Glad G is taking his bottle now. Hopefully the ff will work.

growth spurt No sign here yet of more feeds so far, maybe the odd day, but nothing longer term. She's 15 weeks now, so maybe next week? DH says that she wont get one as C's so big her whole life is 1 big growth spurt

packing I've packed as much as I can before leaving. I'm looking forward to unpacking and organizing the new house now and I cant wait to be all settled in and start my new life. I am still a bit worried about the the lack of space issue, but I suppose it'll sort itself out somehow. Though I do keep having visions of our house looking like one of those cartoon houses with bulging walls

We had a good night last night. I did dream that work had phoned and that I had agreed to do a night shift tomorrow. Gosh, what a relief it was to wake up and realise it wasn't true

FiKelly · 28/08/2009 10:42

tummum yahoo!! on the weight-loss and favourite jeans on. i lost 2lbs somehow last week.. hoping for a similar miracle this week too as i still have over 10lbs to go to get back to my pre g weight.

llareggub sounds like a great birthday yesterday

dandy thank you for your kind words about the cakes.. although it was just the icing i had to do over 2 days.. i had baked the cakes the week before, layered them with jam and put them in the freezer so all i had to do just before the party was decorate. ds loved 'helping'.. i gave him off cuts of rolled icing, bits of cake, jam etc and some of my cake decorating kit.. he got in a big mess

grumpy how's the boob? we'd love to come to your new place too.. so exciting!!

well it's a dreadfully windy day here today.. the kind of gusts that blow you about. Horrid heavy rain showers too.. not the kind of day for walking with the pram. Unfortunately i'll have to out though as G has her 1st lot of jabs at 1.15pm today.. yes i've actually remembered!! ds will have to come too which i hope won't be a disaster.

Belgianchocolates · 28/08/2009 11:04

WOOHOO!!! I've just won 5 blueberry nappies (gently used apparently) on used nappies for only £50, new they would be £120 all together. They're so cute 2 brown with pink polkadots, 2 pink with dalmatian spots and 1 just pink. All soft minki gorgeous nappies. Ooh, I can't wait to recieve them!

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 28/08/2009 11:28

loobs about your friend no words could explain how awful that is.

momi glad you got a bit more sleep!

llare glad the birthday was good!

Fi S had her first jabs yesterday, she's ok today but was a very sad little girl yesterday. DD2 thought the whole thing was fascinating

belgian I hope the move all goes well and at the cartoon bulging walls, I have realised how much stuff we have but we're moving to a house 3 times the size of our current one. I'm still having a major cull though!

Ok, ok so I'm having doubts now. How will I cope, more importantly, how will the girls cope? There are english kids at the school but even so.....Will DH actually ever move out there permanently or (I suspect), will he be more in the UK. Will he enjoy being on his own without me and the girls and decide that's the life for him? Can I be cheerful and polite to guests all the time , can I run a B&B with a sulky 11 year old, a naughty (she's been horrendous this morning) 4 year old and a baby? Am I just seeing problems where there are none? Am I just being typical me? Will I become the world's fattest woman because of all the delicious food? Will my French EVER be good enough? Blah blah blah

And relax.

Belgianchocolates · 28/08/2009 12:39

grumpy As a mum of 3 bilingual dcs (I've counted C) I want to reassure you and say that young children pick up languages very quickly. They'll adapt in no time. Your French will get better in no time because you need to use it and your dh will miss you all and try his best to be with you as much as he can. Pre school facilities are better in French, so you wont have your dcs around you all the time. The lovely food will be healthy and wholesome so you wont become the fattest woman in the world. You'll be fine... Honestly... and now deep breath in and out and relaxxxxx...
