Oh! so that's what was happening on neighbours

tummum you have my sympathies too & i find my only dc free time is when g goes to sleep for the night which is a lot later than ds it was 9.30pm last night.. 6 to 7 mins if we're lucky is my day too. only once in 13.5 weeks has ds had an unusual for him nap in the day at the same time as g..

dandy sympathies to you too.. of all the people i know you'd be the last to have english language probs! my dh does the you never listen to me phrase.. what he really means is 'so you didn't do it the way i'd said to!!' err no.. i have a brain of my own and sometimes go with my idea..

btw luckily no dh grief at all atm for me.. but we have our moments.

Tummum · 26/08/2009 08:23

Thanks for listening to my rant. We hacked it out yesterday, so I am tired this morning but glad we got some stuff of our chests. Also G slept through last night . Might have been the jabs, but I don't care.... hopefully this is the start of a new trend.

llareggub · 26/08/2009 09:09

Morning!

Glad to see you've sorted things Tummum. I read your rant last night but was too tired too post.

Looby great news about the camper van.

Hair lots of hair loss here. I got a bit worried about it until DH reminded me I had the same worries with DS1.

fi my Isabella Oliver stuff did really well on ebay. I had a lovely wrap dress which went for £50, even though it had a small hole.

We've been baking this morning. We had a spectacular fail with the brioche so have made some buns to compensate.

It is my birthday tomorrow so hoping for a fun day out with the boys with no rain. We're off to Monkey Music this morning at the library. Have a god day everyone.

FiKelly · 26/08/2009 09:24

oo llareggub brioche :-) i've never tried making that.. very yummy esp with chocolate chips! buns will be yummy though. quite excited with my isabella stuff.. 2 wrap tops red/purple and 1 red dress :-)

tummum glad you sorted things and bonus on g sleeping through yay!!!!

SpangleMaker · 26/08/2009 12:42

Tummum glad you got things sorted with your DH. DH decided to have a condescending prick moment last night over, of all the banal things, the way I was chopping tomatoes for a soup.

He said, 'what are you intending to do with the tops of the tomatoes?'
Me 'err, put them in the bin?'
DH: 'Oh'
Turns out (after pestering him as to why he was asking stupid questions like that) he thought I should have quartered them first, then chopped the hard bits off. Of all the bizarre and unimportant things to get critical about! I wouldn't mind if he cooked for me once in a while - grr!

Well H can joing Tummum's G in the sleeping through roll of honour - 6.30am

Impressed at llare's attempt at brioche. I'm just getting into this baking business. I made some apple muffins yesterday and will do a few chocolate cupcakes later for NCT girls, who are coming round on Thursday. Which reminds me, must get on with cleaning

Tummum · 26/08/2009 13:47

Blimey Llare I wouldn't have a clue where to start with brioche

Congrats Spangle at H's sleeping. Makes such a difference, doesn't it. Also LOL at "tomato-gate." Too funny. My DH gets all uppity about how things are done in the kitchen, so much so that when he's cooking I vacate the kitchen.

H has just found his left foot. Well, nearly - he's spotted it at the end of his leg, but is having some trouble catching it.

muddleddaizy · 26/08/2009 16:18

Lol at all your 'men moments'!! Dh gets a rocket if he tries to tell me how to do things! My dad once told me off for painting the room the wrong way round

Forgive me for not name checking. I've had a pretty crap day and its all about me, me, me!wink] Ds1 has had some late nights this week so is stroppy. Ds2 had his jabs yesterday and appears to have developed a cold. Now he's taken to vomiting after feeding. I went out with my brother and his family to a local kids attraction. Ds1 has whined all morning about everything and not long before I was planning to leave ds2 puked on me big time! I had 2 changes of clothes for him and none for me, so had to drive home covered in vomit and then change everything but my socks!

Right I'm off to hide in a corner and rock slowly...

FiKelly · 26/08/2009 16:25

spangle at foot finding.. g has found her thumb and now sucks it very noisily

lol!!! at tomato gate.. only problem is my dh has same thing with tomatoes and even oranges too

FiKelly · 26/08/2009 16:37

muddled comiserations for being stuck in vomity clothes and your tiring day.. i can make you feel a bit better.. on the way home from taking ds and whole family to bristol zoo for ds's birthday grace decided she wanted fed. so while dh popped into sainsburys at worle i fed her in the car. during which she did the most explosive poo everywhere and it went all over my jeans, top and saturated even my undies!! I had to sit in it rest of way home and strip us both naked as soon as we got in making sure it didn't drip on anything as went climbed the stairs to our flat..

evening all

M still poorly today so had her checked out at the docs, he said I was doing the right things - calpol, vapour rub and saline drops but to keep an eye on her breathing and feeding.

Our cow print seat covers arrived today and DH likes them - he has agreed to let me cover the back seats with cow print too

have put a pic of the camper on my profile

SpangleMaker · 26/08/2009 17:51

Looby love the pic of M driving! Hope she gets better soon.

Dandy yes I can see how carrots could be a problem. Thing that p'd me off was that the tomatoes were for a soup, I could vaguely understand if for a salad.

LoobyLou36 · 26/08/2009 17:51

M and I had lunch today with a friend I haven't seen since I was 8 months pg, she's 14wks pg - great news!
She had a mc when I was 4 months pg so felt really bad for her . She's still v.nervous but has had her first scan and her nuchal results were great

essenceofSES · 26/08/2009 18:10

Looby - lovely news for your friend. Hope all continues well for her.

Never had chopping veg issues here... think we'rejust glad when one of us does prepare some veg !

O is rolling well today. He did it for the first time last Thurs (twice) but didn't repeat it until this afternoon and now won't stop! He's twice rolled back but otherwise keeps getting frustrated on his tummy.

This morning we went to baby cinema and saw The Time Traveller's Wife. I'd not read the book but enjoyed the film although I did cry
I also cried when I had an awful moment. I was sat on a chair in the front row of the cinema with O on the floor on his rug in front of me. He wriggled forward so he was mostly off the rug and on the carpet so I leant forward off my chair to pull him back on the rug. I forgot the seat of my chair would flip up and lost my balance and O's head. It dropped 3 or 4cm onto his rug I had that moment of silence before he screamed I picked him up and walked to the back of the cinema to try and settle him and when I started feeding him he settled. I think for him it was just shock and he's forgotten all about it now but I still keep apologising to him...

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 26/08/2009 20:27

Hi Everyone!!

I've gone back to my original name, I am Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa at heart and it felt strange being LavacheQuiRit.

Anyhoo, I met Momimo today and you know how she comes across as really sweet and kind and thoughtful in her posts? Well, I am happy to report that she is indeed all these things, as well as beautiful and impossibly slim and glamorous . I, of course, just wittered inanely and took up many hours of her time with my endless monologues that had a beginning and some form of middle but no real end . Honestly, I just cannot shut up!!

And Harper is the cutest little poppet (I got some lovely smiles from her)!!

You haven't lived until you've sat with your baby in a cinema watching Nazis being scalped!!!!

Right, off to catch up on 12 pages worth of chat now I've got t'interweb sorted, speak soon all

LoobyLou36 · 26/08/2009 20:39

welcome back grumpy

euromum · 26/08/2009 20:53

Hello all,

Grumpy glad to have you back! I am quite of those who meet up, being in Belgium and all it's unlikely I'll meet any of you (wouldn't wish to hijack one of Belgian's flying visits, I'm sure she has more than enough family visiting to do!). I would have liked to though, tis rather a shame. And is Inglorious Basterds any good? I would love to see it but it hadn't occurred to me t take T, what with all that scalping etc.

I have never been able to understand dh's thing with chopping the middle bit out of tomatoes but I see he's not alone .

And a quick me me tooth update - dentist fortunately said it's not infected, so no discussion about drugs & bf, thank god. He just cleaned it out and said it should get better soon, which it finally seems to be doing. Didn't wake up in pain at all last night and have coped on only one does of painkillers today. Very pleased! Can't remember who linked to the bf site with lots of info about medication and plenty of other things, but thank you to whoever it was as it is incredibly good!

Right, time to eat pizza. Hooray I can finally bite and chew things again!

Febes · 26/08/2009 21:06

Just posted but it disappeared grrrr.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 26/08/2009 22:33

Ok girls

I have a small lump in my left breast, just above the nipple. There is no milk coming out and it's getting more and more painful. This has only come on this evening.

Blocked duct?

Any advice gratefully accepted!!

Tummum · 26/08/2009 22:40

Grumps does the lump feel hot or have a red spot on the skin where it is? If so it could be a blocked duct. If it is, take an ibuprofen, jump into the shower and give it a really tough (and painful) massage. Also make sure you feed from that boob to encourage the block bit to move . That being said the times I have had it my milk has not stopped, so may not be duct. The few I have had have taken 3 days-ish to clear

pulapula · 26/08/2009 22:41

grumpy- I would advise a warm shower, and massaging with your fist towards the nipple, pressing quite firmly. Also when S feeds, make sure she takes from that breast first- ideally you want her to massage that duct too, but if its at the top, thats a bit tricky, so massage it with your hand when she feeds. If it gets red, or if you get feverish, it could be mastitis, so visit your GP asap. Hope it feels better soon.
