Happy Birthday Diego

It's really odd looking back to a year ago isn't it?

I hope T is better. You sound very cool about it. I would flap at green pus.

Meglet - You've probably already thought of this, but with your ds have your tried to bribe your ds? Tell him that when he wakes up, if he comes very quietly into your room without waking dd he can have a treat later in the day?

Meglet · 30/09/2009 22:39

ILTQITI I haven't ventured into the world of bribes yet, although I did try with chocolate buttons for potty training and they didn't work, but I might give them a go if it buys me more time in the mornings. And he's still in a cotbed so he can't actually come in my room .

pacita Love the porridge with a candle . Enjoy the weekend celebrations!

ninja · 01/10/2009 08:29

Meglet - what about a sticker chart. They tend to work wonders

Happy Birthday Diego for yesterday

Ponymum · 01/10/2009 12:35

hopefully DD has had conjunctivitis twice, but the anti-b drops fix it pretty quickly. Also, we really like those sterile saline single use dropper things to keep her eyes clean when it looks like there might be problems.

Happy birthday Diego!

Bad thing happened yesterday. We lost our camera. Probably on a train. Really gutted, and DH feels really bad because he thinks it was his fault. All the special photos of DD's first holiday abroad, plus it was a very expensive camera! Have written to the train company but not holding out much hope.

Pacita · 01/10/2009 17:53

Bugger ponymum, I hope you get it back. I once left a whole bag in a taxi and got it back, so there is hope. Having said that, I once left my digital camera in a plane and never saw it again. Fingers crossed for you.

I have had a parking ticket for stopping on a restricted bay to read the times it was restricted. I must have stopped for a minute, because I know how blood thirsty haringey council is. It seems it was long enough for the camera to take a picture of my vehicle and issue a fine. I have written to dispute it, and, am not holding my breath either. Bah.

I once left a really expensive handbag filled with really expensive new clothes on a train. I actually cried. Randomly, six months later I got a letter saying it was at lost property at Waterloo (where everything goes). Everything was still in it. It had probably been travelling the Waterloo/Southampton line for that long

T is a bit better, although pus still coming from all orifices (well, nose and willy) in small quantities. Definitely improving though. Not loving the sudden return to night wakings though! (Well, more of a 5am waking than a night waking, but it's dark!)

Debs75 · 01/10/2009 21:02

It's poorly babies allround. Dp has the cold from hell and has passed it on to Robyn who is also teething. DD1 has a huge gash on her knee which looks like it could be infected and I am getting the cold. Not lookiing good for the trip to Hamshire this weekend.

Happy Birthday Diego and all the other babies I have missed. When do we stop calling them babies and move on to toddlers? I would assume it is when they are toddling but someone said to me today that after 1 theyu aren't really babies anymore. I thought Hello she can still fit in a newborn nappy I think she is still a 'baby'

Ponymum I hope you get your camera back. Did you manage to get the pics onto the computer?

DebiTheScot · 01/10/2009 22:09

Oh no pony what a nightmare, hope you get it back.

pacita that is such bad luck, they must be so hot on naughty parkers. You'd think there should be a couple of mins allowance for that.

Hope all the poorly babies are better soon. It's horrid when they're ill.

We've been to see a house we love. Probably going to make an offer tomorrow. Quite excited but trying not to be!

ninja · 01/10/2009 23:23

M is definitely a toddler

She's been walking for 2 months and now runs around, escapes and plays chase. It does seem to change them being upright.

VirginiaLoveGlove · 02/10/2009 02:17

swishes in with current name change.

i know what you mean. dd is now a barrel of fun running away from putting on her clothes and nappy and getting her bum wiped after a poo.

ILikeToQuickstepItTangoIt · 02/10/2009 07:06

Take of your mask VLG, who are you? Is it Starlight? God I'm crap at name changers

Good luck with the house Debi, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

We've had some early morning wakings here too this week. It seems really harsh, I think because it's so dark it feels like the middle of the night.

sagecat · 02/10/2009 11:25

Hello all,

Its been months since i've even looked at mumsnet but i thought i would just pop in at the 1 year point to say "hello". It was so nice to have a quick read through a few posts and to recognise all the names and see how the babies/toddlers are getting on. Jessica will be 1 in about a week and is doing really well although not quite walking yet - but close We have had a REALLY busy year with moving to Wales from Scotland, doing up and selling old house, purchasing and doing up new house, renting and still we have to move into new house before xmas! (Oh and a new job too) - we have decided that our New Year resolution is going to be "do as little as possible" - unusual I know but much needed.

It was great to pop in and say Hi. Happy Birthday to all the babies.

bye

DebiTheScot · 02/10/2009 18:19

Hi sagecat, wow what a busy year!

Thanks for keeping your fingers crossed ITQITI, it must have worked because we've just had an offer accepted on the house . So pleased and excited

ninja · 02/10/2009 20:04

I think with walking baby VLG could be Foxy or Leonie, I'm putting my money on Foxy

DebiTheScot · 02/10/2009 20:08

could be meglet

ninja · 02/10/2009 20:18

Yes - but I think it's someone who's lost te novelty of a walking one - I just have this feeling it's foxy, trust me

CarrieBo · 02/10/2009 20:38

ponymum I would be SO gutted if I lost any of our pictures, never mind the camera! HOpe you get it back.

Tonight I'm babsitting for Arcadie of the muffin groupie fame - the muffins were really good!

Well, ds crawled three steps today! Still didn't seem to realised he'd actually done it. He's getting really good at standing though - from sitting he puts his hands on the floor in front of him, pushes up onto his feet and walks his hands back towards his body until his bottom half is vertical, then stands up! Or falls over. Definitely close to being on the move, just in time to move house!

I won't bore you with today's estate agent/solicitor drama, but I had pickfords round to do a removal quote this morning. It was cheaper than expected (I'm loving the credit crunch and the 15% VAT!) and filled me with confidence about the whole thing. He offered us wooden palletts for the garage to stand our boxes of books on (we're not unpacking half our stuff til the extension is done), and said we can live out of the wardrobe packing cases for as long as we like, as we won't buy new wardrobes til we've had the rewire and redecoration done upstairs. Tell you what though that man could have talked me under the table. Somewhere there's a donkey who's missing his hind legs.

MoonlightMcKenzie · 02/10/2009 23:12

Tisn't me.

Hi all. Reading not posting. Baby Starlight is a monkey and barks at me when she wants something. Being treated apallingly by the local authority wrt ds, but it's okay because we are definately heading for a tribunal and their behaviour is good 'evidence', even though it is getting quite nasty and stressful obviously.

I'm spending more time on the SN boards as a result but I love to read about your los so just imagine me sitting in the corner sharing your stories, rather than having disappeared.

MoonlightMcKenzie · 02/10/2009 23:14

Although.................

It is about time you lot thought of a new thread title..........

ninja · 03/10/2009 07:48

what a challenge, with no starlight to help

They've got minds and know how to use them

escapologists anonymous

The one where they all learn 'NO'

someone must have some better ideas?

ILikeToQuickstepItTangoIt · 03/10/2009 09:26

I bought ds his first pair of proper shoes yesterday

Putting his lovely virgin feet into shoes was a real 'he's not such a baby anymore' moment.

I like the one where they all learn no.

After ds saying no no no to me, yesterday he was doing something he shouldn't ,so I said no, and he then said 'yes' and flashed the cheekiest smile ever

ninja · 03/10/2009 10:44

ILTQITI!

I couldn't bear to buy 'proper' shoes for DD so for a month of walking she had no shes and now she has cruisers.

Her feet are ROUND and I didn't think could cram them into hard shoes

VirginiaLoveGlove · 03/10/2009 12:20

yes, it is foxy. it was a silly name change for a laugh the other night but it is growing on me.

the one where they say 'no' is a good title.

dd2 is good at shaking her head no. she copies everything. we through the laundry over the balcony and pick it up when we go down. she does the same. she tries to play the didgeridoo we bought for dd1. goes 'aaahhh' down the barrel of it.

MoonlightMcKenzie · 03/10/2009 13:08

Well if I were to name the title purely in name of Baby Starlight I'd name it:

'Did I give birth to ET?'

She walks like him, with her elbows into her sides and hands sticking out, changing direction randomly to avoid falling over, and regularly extends her pointing finger towards me.

VirginiaLoveGlove · 03/10/2009 13:51

I have the lurgy at the moment. I think it is flu but don't know what variety. I do think it is one dd1 brought home from school.

Home alone this weekend with the girls. DD1 and I made banana bread just now while dd2 hollered from her booster seat at the table. now she is all wrapped up, asleep, in a sling. she hasn't gone to sleep in a sling in months and months. I wish I could take a photo of it. but it is so awkward.

In case anyone confuses me for a domestic goddess, I am still in my pyjamas and plan to stay in them and the house is a bomb site.

Still I managed to fold the laundry and make banana bread with dd1 so I feel like I am still ahead.
