Here we are: the thread that will see our LO's first birhtday...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Ponymum · 02/09/2009 21:43

carriebo Sad about the funeral. I would have been sobbing at her little boy speaking.

I went to the baby clinic today - first time in months! GP had said we should do it to see if DD is still gaining weight despite the horrible nappy rash. Well it turns out she's around the 25th centile which is slightly better than before, and tall for her age, so I am not worried at all. The thing that shocked me is, I knew everyone at the clinic! How weird... I have actually made some mummy and baby friends in the last year.

CarrieBo · 02/09/2009 21:57

Good reminder from my excellent chum: stock up on repeat prescriptions while you still have your maternity exemption certificate!

digitalgirl · 02/09/2009 21:59

Sis wasn't in last weeks x factor. And by the looks of it she might not be on this week either. Obviously she is worried this means they might edit her out of the show altogether. But she is feeling particularly nervous this week as she's at judges house. We find out maybe tomorrow or Friday if she's through to the live shows. Eeeeeek!

AngryWasp · 03/09/2009 14:02

CarriBo Gald you're through the funeral. That must have been tough. I feel like I know the family a little bit and they'll be in my prayers for a while.

Hope the house thing sorts itself. Can't the man just pay the woman's half?

DG Keeping fingers crossed for your dsis.

My news is that finally my ds' diagnosis has hit and I'm in tears every day. I was wondering why I'd never shed a tear about it, so I guess it's a good thing. Even my Mum said to me a few weeks ago 'doesn't it upset you about ds?' I said 'course it does', - but I'm guessing she meant UPSET. DH and I had a good ole cry yesterday evening. I feel a bit more Starlighty now rather than AngryWasp, but I need to be able to change in a phonebooth (what's the equivelent now) whenever the need arises.

Ponymum · 03/09/2009 14:06

SOOOOO AAAAAANGRYYYYY!!!!

F*&%#@ Daily Mail!!

Here's what happened. A few days ago I posted on that thread about what to wear at the school gate, relating a bonkers conversation I had had with a neighbour, and then suggesting a very tongue in check list of what is and isn't acceptable attire for mummies. I thought it was obvious I was taking the piss but several posters took it really seriously, and said things like 'How dare you say a Tesco uniform is not acceptable,' etc. I thought to myself, right in future I need to make it more obvious when I am joking, and add lots of obvious wink wink emoticons etc. End of story. No harm done.

That is... until the Daily Mail lifted it and published it in their hateful rag yesterday!!

How can MN have anything to do with a newspaper which supported the fascists with headlines like 'Hurrah for the Blackshirts', and whose editors were mates with Hitler and Mussolini? Not to mention their current stance on working mums and immigrants (i.e. me). I feel so dirty. Yuck, yuck, yuck.

Please everyone - if you agree with me go to the Mumsnet DM poll and vote 'Not under any circumstances' for the Daily Mail alliance. The link is on the right under the heading 'Mumsnet latest'. Otherwise next week it could be you, seeing your latest MN post immortalised by that pile of bottom sewage.

AngryWasp · 03/09/2009 14:18

Ponymum I share your , but try not to take it seriously. I purposely don't look at the DM site.

Did you really say Tesco uniform not acceptable? - pmsl - I get the joke

I'll vote though, because I definately agree with you. I suppose though that I care less if I'm quoted. I sometimes troll under my own name anyway (not in a harmful way I hope). I find it funnier

This was because a nutty poster at the time suggested that women who don't give bfing a go are selfish

Ponymum · 03/09/2009 14:36

Yes, I did say that. But I was joking!! (something we used to do a lot on MN as I recall ). I said it was OK to wear your work clothes to drop off the kids, but only if that's a power suit, not if it's a Tesco uniform. Terrible, I know! But honestly, that thread needed to have some fun poked. There were women rushing off in a panic to buy the entire Boden catalogue just in case their clothing choices at the school gate ruined their child's future. Or maybe they were joking too...

AngryWasp · 03/09/2009 14:43

Ah, Ponymum, - you've made me feel a leettle bit better about my ds' autism. He will never need a mum in Boden!

ninja · 03/09/2009 14:46

What you did before you had 2 kids eh Starlight it looks as if a couple of people got the joke.

Whoops ponymum, I would have assumed you were joking and I don't get the concern about what you wear to collect the kids

Ponymum · 03/09/2009 14:47

starrywasp Really sorry about your upset over DS's diagnosis. I had thought you were being particularly level-headed about it all, when I would be a wailing mess I think. .

Oh and I read your beige thread. Priceless!

Meglet · 03/09/2009 19:48

ponymum on principle I'm not clicking on the DM link, I don't want them to think any traffic goes from MN to them . What tossers.

Sorry you have been feeling fragile today starlight. From the sound of it you have done amazingly well so far fighting your ds's corner to get what he needs. Shall we find you a nice clean phonebox to change in when the need arises? (they don't have doors on them these days do they!)

I've just made carrot cake muffins with cream cheese icing and coloured sprinkles for DD's birthday tomorrow. Its sad that she won't see her daddy or his family but I'm sure my family will make up for it and scoff the muffins!

digitalgirl · 03/09/2009 22:25

starlight You are perfectly entitled to be upset and have a good ole cry. You've been bloody amazing ever since finding out about the diagnosis.

ponymum also haven't clicked on the DM link on principal - but had read your post at the time and I got that it was a joke, thought it was funny. Couldn't actually be bothered to read the rest of the thread as everyone else seemed to be taking it a bit too seriously!

meglet carrotcake muffins sound yummy!

Dsis is sitting in a hotel room refusing to talk about today. Probably the most nervous she's been throughout the whole process, having to wait till tomorrow to find out what they thought of her performance today.

Am off to bed now.

Debs75 · 04/09/2009 08:43

Starlight It took me a long time to cope with DS's autism. I found out in February and I thought I was coping, until the December when I realised I had put on 3 stone in weight.
For me it was when they health care teams seemed to just leave us alone after about 18 months that it sunk in and I got angry and tried to do something. You are way ahead of me and are getting angry and demanding them to 'do their job' now and I can't imagine you will let them just leave you to it like I did.
Please send me some Angry wasp we are fighting to get to see his Paed consultant again and it is wearing me out.

We have a phonebox at the end of our street but it is a bit manky and smells a bit suspicious. You are welcome to use it any time you need tho

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 04/09/2009 08:48

Happy Birthday babies

Is it baby Meglet's turn today?

Finger crossed for your dsis dg

{{Starlight}} - I'm guessing what you are feeling now is all part of the grief cycle. Your grief and upset will always be there and may change from day to day, but it WILL get easier to deal with. I promise you. Remember, he is the same ds that he's always been.

DebiTheScot · 04/09/2009 09:33

Starlight you know how you said Carrie's friends are in your prayers when you are in mine. You are being amazing and are entitled to be upset. Make sure you give yourself time to rest and relax so you don't make yourself ill and exhausted after all the fighting.

Happy Birthday baby meglet, have a good day and enjoy your muffins, they sound yummy.

I'm back at work now after the holidays. No kids to teach today (only some year groups are in today) but lots of work to do hence I'm sitting here wasting time

I do not get the what mums must wear for the school run thing. Everytime I see one of those threads they sound so serious (not that I read them but just the titles sound serious). Do people really care what the other mums are wearing at the school gate? I am so not going to fit in if they do.

DebiTheScot · 04/09/2009 09:34

starlight- well not when.

lollyheart · 04/09/2009 12:55

A very happy birthday to all the babies who are now 1

Happy birthday to Fraser, baby meglet and myself.

Off to catch up on all the posts before F wakes up,

becaroo · 04/09/2009 14:38

Happy birthday baby meglet and Fraser!!!

(and Lolly too of course!)

Debs75 · 04/09/2009 15:10

Happy Birthday Fraser and Meredith!!!!!

Meglet · 04/09/2009 21:09

hurray! DD is now one! Thank you for all your birthday wishes .

Happy birthday lolly and Fraser .

I am very relieved to report that DD had a lovely birthday and only got 2 toys, the ELC cherry lane cottage and the horse drawn caravan that goes with it, we weren't inundated at all! Everyone else gave clothes, vouchers or money. I now have a fighting chance of clearing out old toys and getting organised before DS's birthday and Xmas.

No word from XP today. His sister came round and his parents sent a voucher, but obviously partying is more important that his little girls 1st birthday . I did wonder if he would come back a day early as the weather is not great, he's camping in Cornwall - I hope his tent blows down in a gale tonight .

AngryWasp · 05/09/2009 10:23

Happy birthday babies! It's a cheery time of year isn't it.

Remember though, that it is YOUR birthday too. It is a very important anniversary for the mummies!

Thanks all for the kind words re DS. It's taken about 5 months to hit home. Debs75 Good luck with your current battle. The reason I started fighting so quickly was because we were left alone immediately and have been sitting on waiting lists and with news like that one doesn't just 'wait' iyswim.

Meglet tbh your x doesn't sound all that mature. It is probably on his mind today, but he just doesn't know what the 'right' thing to do is and because people will have 'expectations'of him he probably finds it easier to hide away. Take some photos of the cake and party and send it with some left over home-made party biscuits but don't mention his absence. In your position I'd probably be more tempted to squish the cake in his face, - but you get what I mean.

AngryWasp · 05/09/2009 10:24

I meant - on his mind yesterday - of course

Ponymum · 05/09/2009 13:21

Poor DD is vomity sick today. We have managed to get her to keep down some sugary/salty water and that perked her up a bit, but she just wants to be cuddled. Poor darling.

Meglet · 05/09/2009 20:27

Sorry DD is poorly today ponymum. I hope she is much better in the morning.

Thanks starlight. XP did text me in the evening asking how dd's birthday was, I said she had had a nice day, and he sent me a nasty text back , I didn't waste my energy to reply

digitalgirl · 05/09/2009 21:23

meglet why the aggro? silly man. You are handling him brilliantly.

ponymum poor DD, hope she gets better soon.

and Happy Birthday to babies who are now one wwhole year old!

Sis got back last night.
