Here we are: the thread that will see our LO's first birhtday...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Ponymum · 27/08/2009 12:02

Could someone find a list of when all the birthdays are? I am sure someone would know a way to ferret this out of one of the old threads. (Yes, starwasp, I am looking meaningfully in your direction! )

Wow! I can't believe how long the list is. And isn't it amazing how many we have lost touch with.
Wherever you are, ladies and babies, I hope you all have lovely first birthdays with your LOs.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 27/08/2009 19:25

I'm sure I've seen a few of our list on the boards at some time or other.

I had a horrible feeling I had the biggest biffa of a baby but it seems I don't!

M seems to have gone development crazy this week. He claps hands on demand, he can walk across the room with his brick trolley, he is attempting to stand without pulling himself up on something, and he points at the cats and says - "dat"

Kagey · 27/08/2009 19:25

Aw it's lovely seeing a full list of when all the babies arrived.

Starlight, sorry to hear what you and DS have been through and hope you get lots of support.

I am soooo looking forward to the bank holiday - 3 weeks back at work now and feeling it!

Take care x

Hopefully · 27/08/2009 20:35

Amazing how many of us produced little thumpers really - I always thought a 9lb+ baby was relatively unusual, but loads of us managed it (incidentally, T was 9lb 9oz - don't want to be done out of that extra oz!)

Happy Birthday Lorea hope Poxtola is watching!!

It's my Grandma's 100th birthday today . Sadly she doesn't know it as she's sooo sleepy and confused now . We're all going out for a family meal (without her as she's not up to it) to think about her. She's had an amazing life.

Hopefully it'll be fine, although you do see the full extent of the blood it seems somehow cleaner I think. Good luck

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 28/08/2009 14:08

Happy birthday Lorea and your granny Ninja. It's a lovely idea going out and celebrating her life so far.

Hopefully - I want the gory details. Next period I'll be there groping around trying to get it in and out!

Debs75 · 28/08/2009 19:21

Got my doidy cup today after waiting a week for them to deliver it. Robyn will drink from it but she almost swallows it she wraps her mouth around it that much.
Getting better on the crawling, although it is kind of one knee one foot crawling. She pushes with her right foot and her left knee sort of drags along the floor.

Lovely idea on celebrating your Grandma's 100th b'day. Have a lovely time.
Happy Birthday Lorea.

becaroo · 28/08/2009 19:34

Happy birthday Lorea x

Meglet · 28/08/2009 21:33

Happy Birthday to Lorea and Grandma Ninja . Just think, 99 years between them and how much the world has changed!

Saw lolly in town today. She was with her 3 impressively well behaved dc's. I, on the other hand, was swanning around on my own after having a very rare visit to the beauty salon . To make up for my relaxing morning DS has been a pest all afternoon and is seemingly impossible to potty train. We were going back and forth to the potty /toilet / wash basin pants drawer every 10 minutes. Are they meant to pee every 10/15 mins? I think I need to head off to the potty training threads.....

hopefully how's the mooncup?

MaleyDale · 29/08/2009 00:06

Meglet I'll see you there. DS supposed to start preschool and isn't yet potty trained.

Ponymum · 29/08/2009 14:14

digigirl Is tonight the night? I have never watched the X factor before [not sure whether to blush or not!]. Should I make it a first tonght? (If DH will let me, that is. I could always Sky+ if not.)

notcitrus · 29/08/2009 14:14

hello all, and happy birthday to lots of babies!
We finallly have bannisters up to the top floor, so I don't have to worry about babies climbing over the babyfence. However now A can climb stairs so need to get new babygate to keep him out of all the DIY upstairs. Finally we're onto DIY rather than building works!

A still won't have a room of his own for his birthday, but he won't know. Besides, he likes pulling all my books down in my study, and getting the phone into his cot by tugging the cradle cable, so he can join me on conference calls...

He's really a prototoddler now - screams when he doesn't get his own way (ie a door exists), really wants to wield the spoon himself, into everything, puts milk bottle caps into the washing machine (so far no problem), and eats for England. He's also not needed night feeds for 4 nights now (shame 1 needed cough syrup and last night forgot to put nappy on before bed, so he woke soggy at 4am ).

When do I have to shift from trying to get as much food into him as possible, to ensuring he doesn't eat too much?

Ponymum · 29/08/2009 14:24

nc I have totally wondered that food question myself too!

And DD also had a real proto-tantrum the other day. I put her down with her toys and she did this big melodramatic 'Don't put me DOWWWWWNNNNNNN!!!!!' wail and flopped her face down on to the floor with her arms flailing in little fists! I was so amazed that my 11 month old was behaving like a 2 year old that I felt almost proud!

maley (aka starlight I presume?). I knew we'd have a tough time potty training. The problem now is that he just goes to the toilet when he fancies it and he also uses the potty when he has been given 'time out' in his room , I have to dash upstairs when I hear "MUMMEEE, I'VE DONE A WEE WEEEEEEE!". Once I've let him out he likes to carry the full up potty across the (carpeted) landing. We'll keep at it but I think it's going to take a long time.

DebiTheScot · 29/08/2009 18:12

meglet and maley my ds1 only potty trained at 3yrs 1 month. He did 5 months of pre-schl in nappies and it wasn't a problem. When he/we did go for the toilet training he got it straight away and I firmly believe it's easier and far less stressful to leave it until you are absolutely sure they are ready to do it properly. We have never ever had any accidents with ds and apart from the 1st couple of days we have never had to remind him to go to the toilet or even go with him.

Leonie that is great, we never even tried to potty train DS and he is still in nappies at 10y 6mo. He has no communicatio really so it would be pointless trying. When you reapply for DLA don't tell them you are not getting up in the night. They will lower your DLA and then she will start waking for one reason or another.
Also good they are keeping an eye on DD2. We have been discharged by our Paed so nobody is even seeming concerned over Robyn.
