Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
AFingerofFudge · 28/09/2009 12:29

omg, has everyone tiptoed off to another thread and left me here??? Or is everyone leading a much more exciting life than me and not at home???

Well, I can talk to myself for a bit. Have had a fantastic few days as had some family over visiting from Ireland. We shopped and ate and went for a couple of walks, it was fab. DS1&2 were over the moon as I didn't send them to school on Friday as they were over, and it's the first time they've visited us.

M is grouchy and in bed. Not sure what's wrong, hopefully he'll get out of the cot the right side though. He still isn't crawling, think he must have lead weights in his knees. No teeth, no chopped up food. Crikey, will I be saying all this when he's 18 months??! I've been saying it for long enough....
Have the HV coming tomorrow for his 10 month check, or some sort of check anyway.

righty-ho, off to eat some cardboard (ryvita-am on a diet)

PinkyMinxy · 28/09/2009 13:30

HI Fudge
It is really quiet on here, isn't it?
Your weekend sounds fab! Mimi is crawling forwards- ir should I say she can crawl forwards- she's not really in any hurry to go anywhere!

We had a really exciting weekend of looking for carpets, you know , where you go to lots of places then end up buying from the first shop you went to. Anyhoo the girl's room is veyr nearly finished- get the carpets fitted then put furniture in. Bit strange about DD2 going in her own room. She really needs the big cot, though, and DD1 is very excited about sharing a room with her.

I have bought some stickers for above the fireplace in their room from here, thought I'd link it because they have some very lovely toys on there - we bought Mimi this for her birthday. The stickers are the Djeco ones, this one

I really like the wooden wagon and want to get it DS for Christmas but he's set on a lego crane set. Lego drives mee mad beecause whatever you build is forever coming apart.

LatinDAISYcal · 28/09/2009 18:22

helloooooo, I'm here; just been really busy. I had to search for the thread though as it had fallen off "threads I'm on" as I haven't posted since Friday!!

I'm always around on FB though if anyone wants a chat over there

I've been busy knitting, and finished a pair of longies for bumble, but I stupidly tried to cut corners by ironing them rather than blocking out properly, and they have all stretched. I'm hoping a wash will spring it all back in again, but I'm not hopeful. The fit was odd anyway, so they are good as a starting point.

coolkat · 28/09/2009 18:54

Hello, I am still here to, nothing interesting to say really.

Had Becca's hips checked and expected to be fine but got told need to recheck in a month. All day I pondered and in the end I phoned the doc's and said I would like her to call me which she did.I explained I was unhappy and she caught me off guard as I was not expecting anything to be wrong. I thought about the things she had said and although Becca has been crawling for a while and pulling up she does not put one foot in front of the other when you hold her hands. I expained that whilst I appreciate her medical knowledge she has only seen Becca a handful of times and I do not want to wait a month before we go onto the next stage. She said she understood where I was coming from and is arranging a scan so happy getting scan. Not happy as there may be a problem.

Daisy what are Longies

Back later just boiled some eggs for tea , yummy , not!

Cricri · 28/09/2009 22:02

I'm also still here and sorry I haven't had chance to post for ages.
Coolkat Sorry to hear the dr's appt has worried you even more. I hope she's just being cautious by arranging a scan. My friend's little boy was also referred to hospital by his GP for the same thing as Becca and it turned out to be nothing. I really hope it's the same for Becca.
Drswife Glad DD's eye appt went well and that the doctor thinks there's nothing to worry about. At least you're reassured and hopefully the NHS appt will just confirm that it is indeed nothing. Well done on the sleeping! And did I read correctly that you're trying for No 2 One of my NCT friends is pg again - I just cannot imagine it myself but good for you. Fingers crossed it happens soon for you.
Pinky Your DDs' bedroom sounds lovely!Fudge Hope M is OK and that the check went OK. Must chase up our HV about E's "under one year" check. I suppose technically there's still a month to go but normally it's done at 9-10 months here
All OK here - E had her first settling in session at nursery on Friday and she ended up staying all day. She wasn't even particularly bothered about seeing me when I came to pick her up The staff said she'd been fine and had enjoyed playing with all the toys.
She then came down with a cold that evening and woke with a fever of 38.5 during the night. Fortunately her temp was back to normal by the morning after a dose of Calpol in the night. Her cold went very quickly too, she's just got a bit of a cough.
Love all the talk about birthday presents btw - I can't believe our babies are about to turn one! Thanks to whoever mentioned the Wheelybugs, I googled them and I think we're going to get one for E for her birthday. They look so cute!
Hope everyone else is OK [smile

suiledonn · 28/09/2009 22:05

Hi everyone, too stressed to concentrate on much at the moment. DD1 is on route to hospital with her asthma again! Second time since September started.

HeadInAWhirl · 28/09/2009 22:21

Suiledonn, that must be so worrying, I hope she's OK

PinkyMinxy · 28/09/2009 23:01

Suiledonn I hope DD1 is ok x

twinklingfairy · 28/09/2009 23:32

I am here too, staying up waay too late, watching the 'Being Erica' think, liking it!
Also pinky you naughty girl, sending me to that site. I want everything!!
I love those stickers too, they will look so lovely!
I had bought something for DS but, of course, DD got to it so that is that oot the windea.
So now I will just have to get something from that site. haha.
Would love one of those wheelybugs too, but not sure how good they would be on carpet and not sure that DS would make any use of it for age and ages yet, anyway.

MY RL friend is moving and I want to buy her house!!
Just have to get this house sold now.
But, so far, she is being really good about it. She says she will, possibly, rent her house out in order that it will still be there by the time ours is sold. The market is so rubbish up here. Either we will sell it straight off, or it will take months and months.
Fingers crossed that it flies off the shelf!
I can't expect her to keep both houses indefinitely so won't hold my breath but I really hope that it all works out.
I have hankered after her house from the moment I stepped into her garden over 3 years ago. And have been seriously looking for some alternative for at least 2 years now.

twinklingfairy · 28/09/2009 23:34

suildon I hope things are ok with your DD, You poor thing, the worry must be awful

suiledonn · 29/09/2009 09:51

Thanks everyone. They kept her in overnight. DH took her in. I hate not being with her but Amy still breastfeeding in the night and won't settle without me.

She is a little better this morning so hopefully they will let her come home later.

Yorky · 29/09/2009 12:22

Sorry Suiledonn, that was me with my wrong name on!
Sorry she had to stay in overnight, I find it hard being torn between two kids when one needs feeding and the other just wants Mum and I don't want to imagine letting him go to hospital without me.
I'm glad she had a better night and hope she is home soon.
Do they need to up her dose of the controlling medication? Do you know what her triggers are?

Coolkat, good luck for the hip scan, don't you hate it when drs are so non-committal about if there is a problem or not, it worries me more than if they said straight out I think this is wrong....

OP posts:
LatinDAISYcal · 29/09/2009 14:53

aw suiledonn, sorry to hear about DD and i hope that she is better soon. When will she get home? Is there something in the air at the minute as DS1's asthma has been bad as well and it usually doesn't bother him.

Wool Longies. You lanolise them and use them as an alternative to a waterproof wrap over cloth nappies. Especially good for overnight use.

LatinDAISYcal · 29/09/2009 14:57

sorry coolkat, meant to say sorry to hear that you are still worrying over becca's hips and that the scan date comes through quickly for you. Good on you for calling and asking to speak to the doctor though; I would probably have just kept quiet and worried myself senseless about it. Fingers crossed everything is fine. bumble doesn't like moving his left leg very much if trying to walk holding hands with you and he can go a bit squint with the walker as he moves his right leg further; I had just put it down to him being unsure of the whole walking thing and that it would resolve itself.

ark...school run time

ellielou02 · 29/09/2009 15:05

Hello
suiledonn sorry to hear about your daughter hope she is home and well soon, must be awful having to stay at home.

OOOh pinky hope you get your house sold and get your friends sounds like you really want it.
cricri glad E enjoyed nursery, I think the wheeybugs are lovely too, very cute

We are going through to perth tomorrow there is a nappy launch to do with scottish homecoming, daisy dont talk about wool longies I have manged to push them to the back of my mind up till now some of them are beautiful.
Hi to all I have missed

PinkyMinxy · 29/09/2009 16:29

Suiledonn sorry to hear that your DD was kept in. Hope she is home and feeling better today.

Coolkat sorry that it's not been all that reassuring. I hope it turns out to be nothing after all.

Ellie- lol no please don't ask me to move house- I'm only just getting this one sorted! Seriously though, that was Twinks, not me. People do seem to confuse us- not sure why!

OOh I'm getting some god prices for my ebay stuff. Hope this is a good sign for the NCT sale mext month. We need funds, desperately!

LOve to all.x

Ceebee74 · 29/09/2009 20:34

Hi I am still here - just struggling to keep up now I am back at work.

Suiledonn sorry about your DD1 how is she today?

Pinky that website is fab - am dying to have a proper look round it when I get a chance.

Coolkat really hope that everything is ok with Becca and good on you for chasing up the doctor. Like Daisy, I would have been too scared to do it and just sat at home worrying

Hi to everyone else!

Well today, Hamster dragged himself crawled from the lounge into the kitchen (quite a way as there is the hallway and stairs in the middle) First time he has gone anywhere near that far and his little face was so cute as he was so proud of himself. He is also able to push himself back up to sitting now from lying on his tummy

Am starting to get very nervous and emotional about my op next week Nearly started crying at work today when I was talking to someone about it and that is not like me at all I wish it were tomorrow to get it over and done with.

twinklingfairy · 29/09/2009 20:44

What operation is that ceebee Sorry if you don't want to go over it agian. Sounds like it might not be nice

Thanks ellie Yeah I really hope it all works out for us. Though estate agent friend said he would drop of the initial paperwork yesterday and still no signs today, grr.
Wonder how RL friend got on with putting her offer in.
I will see her tommorrow.
Do you know, in all my excitment to get her house, she has been to see her new house and I have been awful and haven't asked for all the details.
But we are both awful for being so excited together we barely let the other complete a sentence and chop and change subjects so I can hardly keep up. I am sure she hasn't even noticed I haven't asked!haha

LatinDAISYcal · 29/09/2009 20:58

ceebee, try not to worry about the OP, honestly. As a CS veteran it'll be a walk in the park for you, although there is something odd about having a general anaesthetic. The op itself though; I was off painkillers by day three and out and about pretty much immediately. Try not to overdo it with lifting though as it's easy to think it's a small op because the incisions are small.

I hope you get the chance to sample the food in your private hospital though; my op was too late in the day and although I tried to eat at dinner time, it was just too much after a dose of morphine and I threw up everywhere. DH said it was all very nice though

the house thing sounds both exciting and complicated twinks, but I hope it all works out for you. could you rent yours out and still buy your friend's house? We did that when we bought this place, mainly to be chain free. It means we were mortgaged to the hilt though!

Lucky you on the ebay thing Pinky. I have just sold two brand new pairs of leather pram shoes (one starchild and the other a spanish make), both new in pack, for 99p each . I thought I would get more than that as there are never any being sold new/nearly new when I've looked. Maybe that's why, it's just not worth it.

ellielou02 · 29/09/2009 21:25

OOps sorry pinky and twinks for getting you mixed up I think it was because twinks had mentioned your name at the start of her post
ceebee as daisy says try not to worry, I have nursed alot of patients having had the op you are getting and alot of them are great after the op.
pinky well done on the ebaying, I have my (crying emoticon) jumperoo on lots of interest though.

PinkyMinxy · 29/09/2009 21:27

Ceebee hugs lovely, I don't envy you going for more surgery, but I really think you will be fine. As daisy says, you are a cs veteran! But make sure you take it easy afterwards.

Dasiy one of the things that's ending today has actually gone up in price since I bought it and I'm getting almost the same money for it as I paid originally! But I've noticed a few things that I sold for a good price last time around don't seem to be fetching the money, so I may just put them in the NCT sale instead. I'm dead soppy with baby shoes, though, I can never bear to part with them!

Mimi went for a big wander today, too Ceebee. But the poor sausage went for her first crawl down the hall and promptly launched herself off the littl step to the kitchen she is ok, though. I ma having to teach her the reverse down the step thing- hey ho here we go again!

LadyBuzz · 30/09/2009 10:50

Ceebee good luck for next week. I will be thinking of you.

Well done Hamster and Mimi, its strange you are so proud when they do move but end up wishing they couldn't half the time. J is quick as lightening now. I can usually find him in the kitchen watching the washing going round in the machine - bless him.

I'm ebaying at the moment too and managed to make over £10 with my first batch (I have another) all going towards going on Holiday in February. It is definate now and I am so very excited.
Although I do have a massive load of sold stuff to cart to the post office now!

Suiledon how is DD doing today, Must have been awful for you.

Twinks hope everything works out with the house. We have also found our perfect house but are no closer to selling ours. Its such a PITA selling up. I don't want to get too excited yet incase the other house sells before ours. Everything is crossed!

Coolkat I hope the scans goes well and puts your mind at ease.

I'm off to see Cabaret tonight with my SIL, I'm really looking forward to it!

LatinDAISYcal · 30/09/2009 20:49
Ceebee74 · 30/09/2009 21:06

Well I hadn't watched Panorama but now I need to know what it was about

Thanks for the reassurance ladies - you have made me feel heaps better

LatinDAISYcal · 30/09/2009 21:24

lol ceebee...no you don't, trust me on this.

I'm watching the twins programme now on the beeb...I find twins fascinating and weird in equal measure; no offence to twins/mums of twins out there
