Is 37.3 an OK temp?

Honeymoonmummy · 27/06/2009 13:12

I think she's normally 36 so I assume not that high?

Does anyone have an underarm and mouth thermometer? I have one from Tesco, can't find the instructions but think it said add 0.1 to the temp if doing underarm? Or was it 1???

purpleflower · 27/06/2009 13:19

Hello all,

It's been such a long time since I've looked here that I haven't been able to catch up!

I hope all the babys and mummys are all doing ok.

Rebecca is crawling and pulling herself up and into everything, her favourite thing is trying to eat the cat biscuits She has just gone into 12-18 month clothes the little porker. Luckily a friend from mumsnet local dropped us round 3 huge sacks of gorgeous 12-18 and 18-24 month clothes on tuesday

I've still been feeling a bit rough, lots of arguements with DP. I'm not taking my ADs anymore as DP didn't like them and said that they made me seem numb and not really with it after I had them upped but they didn't work at the lower dose so I didn't see much point taking them. I'm actually not doing too bad though, it took a week or two to leave my system (I went cold turkey) and I felt like death warmed up but things are looking brighter now. I think it may be the sun! DP has also changed his job and as of monday will be working slightly more sociable hours so I will have a bit more support at home

I'm going to try and keep up a bit more and not dissapear for so long again lol.

purpleflower · 27/06/2009 13:21

HMM, I don't normally worry with a temp until it gets closer to 38 (but I am a bit of a paniker!) With have an ear thermometer so I can't help with that.

I hope she feels better soon.

Still here, off to parents in bit.

HM 37 normal temp so anything above is raised but would not realy worry unless it was around 38, 39 -40 is very high. I would give max dose to make sure she is settled and well and that it lasts the whole 4 hrs before the next dose if needed. We have in the ear thermometer, only got recently as the other one was naff and I was always doing under arm then in mouth and wanted a better one but the under arm is a little lower than in the mouth recording.

star P is off her milk and really wants to eat by herself so having to get as much spoon fed into her as I can so I know she has eaten well then let her get on with the rest. She is a yoghurt monster too. Not too interested in her milk at all at the mo but not sure if thats her teething or weather.

Hi purpleflower glad you feeling ok and yes try to stick around and get some support here if you need it Wow to DD in 12-18 months too, I thought P was doing well going up to 9-12!

pistachio yeh to going on strike, I may try that tomorrow

myjob hope ds is ok and I would let him sleep it off pooryou though, its horrible when they are like that

I never know the official figures, but wouldn't bat an eyelid at anything less than 38, and would only medicate if other symptoms and high 38s at least. In fact I rarely actually take temps, as even with one of those fancy pants Braun thermoscan (in ear) thermometers I can't get a reliable reading. I go mostly by how they feel on their chest/back of neck.

DD never very keen on fruit star, but then she wasn't keen on eating at all until she was over a year (just wanted to bf constantly). She did used to love pear which she now won't touch, but for as long as I can remember has only been prepared to eat lychees or sometimes grapes (usually pink). Recently she has started eating bananas a bit, and has even had 2 apples this week (but won't even contemplate green ones, even though I have to peel the pink ones anyway ).
Ds not really refusing stuff yet, but how much he eats will def depend on how hungry he is. He ate a big (and late) lunch today, but had a much smaller tea.

Am pleased today that we have found another meal which both dc ate well. A fish pie (no mash, but topped with breadcrumbs and cheese and grilled at the end) made in the slow cooker.

Where is your residential in Sept pistachio, and which airport are you flying into?

Cold turkey sounds a bit intense pf. Surely if they were helping then it would be better to continue with them and to explain it (or get your GP to explain it) to your dh?

So where's ronshar for this night of chat that she promised us?! When dh comes down I might just pop off to the other room (we've moved one sofa and the audio/visual stuff back in to the living room) and watch some more house with him, or some outnumbered (got him series 1 for fathers' day).

She's having great fun playing with DH. Silly DH knows he shouldn't be making it fun for her down here but he can't resist her. I am feeling ok, just tired. I am always tired!!! It's getting boring.

We had a BBQ in the rain this evening and then lighting nearly blew our telly up! I will catch up later but M is too distracting at the moment......

ronshar · 27/06/2009 21:38

I am here now.
In a bit of a mood to be honest.
We went to meet some of my huge family at a pub with a lovely garden. We were only stopping for a while as DD2 has her Gym competition tomorrow and didnt want to be too late.
1, DH had W on the table and he vomited everywhere!
2, DH had W on the table and W pulled a pint of Guiness all down me!
3, Dh had W on the table and W pulled a drink over someone else.
4, DH had W on the table and W pulled another drink over another person!
Can you detect a theme running here?
5, my brother bought some chips just as we were leaving and DD's had a chip but DD1 can be a bit greedy and tried to eat loads. I told her to stop and turned back and found DH giving her a chip. DD1 gave me the look of screw you daddy gave it to me!

We came home and I have had a shower. Feel better but really pissed off with DH as he is always undermining me like that!!!

Anyway. Did you all have lovely sunshine today?

ronshar · 27/06/2009 21:39

Myjob, sorry I am late.

DH does have a hangover so maybe I should go a bit easy on him, but really! He went to a foam party by accident last night! I did ask him if he thought he was 18 again. Funny he didnt think it was that amusing

I have never been to a foam party but I know lots of people who have. Most people moan about the foam ruining their clothes! A girl I knew fell over and cut her leg pretty badly at a foam party. She ended up at A&E because the foam made her whole leg swell up like a balloon! Ha ha ha, I never liked her! I never have any sympathy for DH when he's hung over, I usually make him take me shopping because I can really easily convince him to spend his cash.

It's shit when you get undermined isn't it Ronshar? My PIL do it to us all the time and it drives me mad.

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/06/2009 22:25

I've never been to a foam party either, and don't knowingly know anyone who has! I would hate it - too allergicky to stuff like that.

We had lovely sunshine and then a huge downpour today (whilst at a 4yo b'day party), and then thunder and lighting this evening.

Your dh was rubbish today ronshar. Hangover earns wrath not sympathy.

ronshar · 27/06/2009 22:35

Yes I know. But I am hopeing that one day soon I may have a hangover and then I would like some sympathy

Marthasmama · 27/06/2009 22:39

Oh, when I have a hang over the rules change and I demand need sympathy. DH has a hangover too often where as I have hardly any.

aubergenie · 27/06/2009 22:44

It's definitely Saturday night - those babies just want to stay up and party. S has only just gone down as well.

Star - ds is definitely eating less, but I'm putting that down to the pox. Weirdly he'll eat much more (solids) when I'm feeling him, then dp. Not sure why that is.

Sorry to hear you're fed up Myjob. Your ds sounds like very hard work at the moment.

at 12 -18 month old clothes, PF!
How is P now HMM? Poor S looks a right old state. He's also started crawling, but only using one leg. The other one is sort of tucked under him as though it's withered away or something. With that and all his spots he looks like a medieval plague victim.

I've been laying a path today. It was my first time mixing cement and stuff and I was really pleased with it but dp said it was "interesting". Cheeky bugger. It is a bit wonky, but I like to think of it as rustic and charming.
