It's a bugger getting CP before they are 1, because ideally you would give them piriton to ease the itching, but can't. You need bicarb of soda in the bath for him.

V odd playgroup star.

Amazing recall myjob .

Wonderful wonderful news MM. A big weight off your mind. Now you just need to check that you can have internet access whilst you're there too .

My bread doesn't go soggy if I don't take it out right away .

How was MOT jenwa? Dh had his done today too, and it passed fine. Must sort out one (first ever) for my car shortly.

CSWS - I'll have my iPhone

Honeymoonmummy · 25/06/2009 23:25

God have you heard about Michael Jackson???

Marthasmama · 26/06/2009 03:51

I have now Hm! M not sleeping due to teeth so I popped down to see what was going on. Wow! Can't say I'm that surprised though.

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/06/2009 05:14

whassup with him?

OP posts:
Marthasmama · 26/06/2009 08:29

He's dead CSWS!

Any ideas about how to stop M screaming all the time? She's happy but her squealing is deafening and driving me up the wall. I'm probably being a mean mummy but bloody hell, it's almost constant and my ears are vibrating. I'm going to need ear plugs just to look after her soon.

jenwa · 26/06/2009 08:38

MM have no ideas re the screeming sorry, unless you do it back and see what her reaction is

csws massive heart attack, I did like him despite all the bad press, he had a bloody awful childhood and did everything to not look or be like his abussive father, maybe he went to far but fantastic music career and dancer. MOT fine, passed so pleased about that although bit odd as last year I was told I would need new back tyres at some point and still passed so I asked them and they went and checked them and they were really cracked and the bloke said that they would have just been border line to pass so need to think about getting new ones asap. At least I can trust the garage not to fob me off as htey could have easily made me get them for the mot. Hate MOTs and anything car related!

Forgot that re piriton before 1 although I am sure I have some boots stuff that is from 3 months but will have to check that. The medised has piriton in too but yes your not supposed to use that on under 2 or under 6 I cant rememeber and of course I still dont use it!

Off to tescos after dropping dd1 to playgroup. run ourt of food again! Still have shed loads of cakes that dh got last time he came shopping with me, I wont take him again, we spent a fortune on crap

Marthasmama · 26/06/2009 08:50

Heh heh Jenwa - I'm usually the one that bumps the cost of shopping up as I insist on buying yummy things! DS and I just tried screaming back at her, she thought it was hilarious and did it some more. Are girls just squeally? DS never made these noises!

aubergenie · 26/06/2009 09:00

MM- S went through a terrible squealy phase for ages and it got really wearing, and made several other babies cry! It doesn't seem quite so bad now, as he's learnt some new noises, so hopefully MM's sqealing phase will be short-lived.

Bad, bad night last night. S has got sooooo many spots on his head. He was in the bed with me, feeding constantly (has been like this for 3 nights) but doesn't seem too bad today. I'll try the bicarb in the bath CSWS. How much do you think I should add?

I've got some E45 itch cream that the doc prescribed for his last rash (I didn't bother to use it though as he seemed fine). Do you think that would be any good, or should I just stick with calamine? I don't want to put loads of stuff on him in case it makes him worse.

RachieW · 26/06/2009 09:11

Morning! Sorry I missed everyone yesterday. MM am so pleased that you have open visiting hours

Myjob- brilliant round-up. How do you do it? I can only remember snippets from yesterdays posts.

Am shocked about MJ, off to check out the news now. We've been watching Peppa Pig etc on channel 5

Day 5 of swimming/belly dragging is driving me insane. So far today J has wacked his head on the wooden bedstead, got stuck under the bed, helped himself to the coal from our electric fire (guard is on order) and fallen off of his carseat he was leaning against and wacked his head again. Feel like the worlds most terrible Mum but I don't want to restrict him too much and to say no to everything. Obv the fire is a huge no but having previously paid no interest in it the little monster made a break for it when I just popped out to make a cup of tea!

RachieW · 26/06/2009 09:18

Aubergenie- sorry to hear that S is in such a bad spotty way. I've not had first hand exp of chicken pox yet (well apart from when I was ten), so can't offer experienced advice I'm afraid. I'd imagine that calamine is better as it seems to be the traditional way to give cp relief. I have occasional outbreaks of eczema and to be honest have never found E45 to give that much relief.

Marthasmama · 26/06/2009 10:16

Awwww poor S. I thought we had a bad teething related night but sounds like yours was much worse Aubergenie. When DS had CP at 18 months, we just used calamine lotion on him. We didn't use antihistanmine because of the hyperactivity issue. I think we were very lucky though as DS didn't seem too bothered by it. I have just read that an oatmeal bath might help and that he may have a head ache so giving him some pain relief might help him too. Hope he feels better soon.

Rachie - Don't worry, you're not a bad mummy, your letting J explore. I am a firm believer in letting them learn from their mistakes and letting them learn that certain things hurt (obviously not anything that would cause real harm!). It teaches them to be more careful. I had a friend who treated her dd like she was an egg and as a result she didn't have any idea of what was safe and what was a silly idea. She was always 'rescued' and never allowed to explore. She was too protected and is now a fragile little flower who needs her mummy all the time. DS on the other hand is tough as old boots and full of self confidence. A little too much confidence sometimes..... I have linked this for Star in the past but have a look at this. It opens out so you can section off a part of the room which is what I have done in our living room. The fireplace and TV are sectioned off behind the gate so M can roll about freely in the rest of the room without me worrying that she'll disappear under the telly again!

I keep forgetting to post just a quick update on ds weigh in. He is 19lb 11 now. Eating food like nobodys business, still co sleeping although going for longer sledps in his cot. He is crawling and in the last couple of week has started cruising.

aubergenie · 26/06/2009 19:01

Congratulations on your exceptional son Myjob!

And great weigh in Knickers!

Pistachio - You know that you'll never get any rest now, don't you. I was with a friend whose son has just started proper forward crawling and just wouldn't bloody stop!

Any more bumps and bruises today Rachie?

Well the spots seem to have stopped appearing now. Lots on his nether regions, poor thing. But I used your top tip MM and put some oats in an old pair of tights in the bath. (Well, it was Ready Brek, but it was either that or Oatibix and it seemed like the best option.)

star6 · 26/06/2009 20:09

aubergenie, can Q and I come over? I know cp is horrible and not wanted but I REALLY REALLY want him to get it now and not when he's older!! I had it at 27 and it was awful. I'm sure worse for a baby, but I'd like to get it out of the way.
lol at thought of letting oatabix soften in a bathtub... all the little blocks

aubergenie · 26/06/2009 20:15

Ugh - must have been horrible Star. Definitely better to get it out of the way. Bring Q over!

Poor S is finding it impossible to settle as he's got so many spots on his head and can't stop scratching. He's just desperate to feed all the time as it must make him feel better. I had to hand him over to dp to get a break.

Loulou, I don't know how you coped with a house full of pox ridden children.

star6 · 26/06/2009 20:17

Speaking of.... let's do a meet up! Kingston or Richmond good for some, yes? Or Twickenham for csws? or maybe London? Soon!

Rhian82 · 26/06/2009 20:54

Haven't been here in ages sorry - don't have the time to keep up!

I just remember someone saying that they used Aveeno for their baby's eczema, but their GP had said they couldn't prescribe it for them (my GP prescribes it for my DS). I mentioned that to my HV, and she said it had only been put on the prescribing list fairly recently, so lots of GPs haven't checked the up-to-date list and don't realise. So ask for it again, and tell the GP to check the most recent list!

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/06/2009 21:05

Evening all. Another busy day here. Still got an empty living room so am perched in breakfast room for a brief catch up. Need an early night after starting the day at 4:45 (although I did send dh down with ds an hour later so that I could get a bit more rest).

I don't know of an 'official' quantity for bicarb in bath aubergenie, but I bunged about 1/3 of a pot in at a time! I found it more effective than the oats, as well as less gunky!

If we do a meet up can we make it somewhere with parking (that doesn't cost the earth) please? Outside of London is best for me (easier to drive to), but I'll go wherever. Will need to be entertaining for dd too, or else on a day when she's at school (will have some days on playscheme until a week into August).

RachieW · 26/06/2009 21:06

Evening all! Thanks MM, I agree that it's best to let ds explore and learn about dangers etc. I don't want him to be a wimp

No more bruises and bangs thanks Aubergenie We spent the day at Godstone Farm with some friends so J was either in the pram or safe in my arms. It was so lovely, lots of animals and a huge rabbit runs you can get in to stroke them. J was very taken with the goats and I also took him into the rabbits so he could stroke one. He was so cute, all smiley and squealing! Hope the cp clears up soon. I'm thinking the same as Star, would rather get it over and done with now than later even though I imagine it's horrible for babies.

Am now dreading J's front teeth appearing too as my friend's ds, who we went to the farm with, has them coming at the moment and was inconsolable all day. Poor babe

RachieW · 26/06/2009 21:09

I'm rubbish at geography but Godstone Farm is in Surrey, just off the M25. Is that anywhere near any others? It's lovely, quite cheap to get in (£5.30 for kids- not under 2's and £3.50 or something for adults), has big picnic areas, lots for older dc's to do and free parking.

It's probably nowhere near anyone now but I've given them some advertising

Marthasmama · 26/06/2009 21:10

I can't come for a meet up as I will be bedridden all summer.
