Thank you MYJOB brilliant effort. How do you do it? I am all set for monday. Forgot to answer FB message.
No time to post properly but saw dietian last week. She was fab. W is even lower on his centile lines now. So have to feed him up with lots of fatty foods! I can give soya apparently so he is loving the yogs.

Hard going with the pox, poor babies and poor mummies

MM, ask for a list of medication before you go into hospital so you can check if compatible with BF. Bloody well done for getting them to change the policy for you. Well done.
HMM you sound much better. You are doing really well. Poppy is so lucky to have you as her mummy.
MIL goes tomorrow. DH going out to play poker with the boys. I shall be on here all night. Yipee. I would love for you all to join me and catch up with everyone.

star6 · 26/06/2009 21:25

Rachie - I'm in Surrey! We went to Horton park Children's Farm on Thursday. Q LOVED teh animals... pigs in particular. He couldn't take his eyes off of the piglets feeding from the big mommy pig. Loved the goats, too. I also let him play in the ball pit with other under 1s so dirty in there! But he had great fun! Maybe we could meet up at a place like that... lots of free parking

Marthasmama · 26/06/2009 21:31

Godstone Park is brilliant. We took DS there a few years ago and he loved it. It was very difficult to get him away from the playground bit though. The children get to hold chicks and ducklings if there are some hatched. CSWS - I am sure dd would love it there!

Aubergenie - I'm glad my tights suggestion was useful. Do you think the oats helped at all? I found the goo that came out lovely on my skin when I tried it! I hope he gets better soon poor little fella.

Myjob - Yay DS! Listening was my DS's big problem at school, he was in his own dream world for year R. But he's doing really really well now!

Pistachio - Yay for the crawling! M is so nearly there and it's starting to drive her mad.

DS's school had a teacher training day today so I had the pair of them. DS was joining in with the screaming and playing with M's xylophone thingy. It was soooo relaxing and didn't give me a headache at all.

Marthasmama · 26/06/2009 21:32

Here is some info about Godstone Park for you all. We were brayed at by a donkey and it was f*ing loud! It made ds cry!

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/06/2009 21:36

Godstone looks lovely, and would indeed entertain dd, but it's a weeny bit far for just a day trip. Would take 1.5hrs each way if the M25 was completely clear, which of course it never is, so will end up being at least 4 hours in the car in one day. Sorry. But you guys go there without me if the location suits the rest of you.

Once I have my living room unpacked again I will have a look in my days out book for other ideas too.

Marthasmama · 26/06/2009 21:40

I'll just have to imagine me and M there.

horton park children's farm
Is this location good for people? Or,
bocketts farm
both selfishly close to me

star6 · 26/06/2009 21:59

I use whatever nappies are on sale. Had great intentions of using reusables as much as possible... but it's just SO MUCH WASHING and we have no tumble dryer.

Marthasmama · 26/06/2009 22:06

Ah you see, washing is my version of vacuuming Star. I bloody love putting a wash on. I am totally obsessed with washing my Itti Bittis and then popping them together ready to use.

star6 · 26/06/2009 22:16

Do you have a dryer MM? If I had a dryer, I'd enjoy it more. I do like the washing, too but not if I need something in a timely manner as it needs to hang on the clothes rack for a while first.
I use reusables on weekends whenever convenient, but do find it a bit of a hassle with poos.

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/06/2009 22:17

Still too far for me star. I need somewhere further up the M25 (west).

Are you just a flight away from Luton airport pistachio? That could make me the mid-point for a more inclusive meet up, as it's only 15 mins from here. I'd even come and pick you up from the airport if you came down .

OP posts:
Marthasmama · 26/06/2009 22:26

Star - I have got a dryer but I try to put things on the clothes horse in the conservatory when the weather is like this. DS and DH managed to break the washing line when DH thought it would be funny to see if DS could hang from it, last year. I can see the problem with the washing then.

CSWS - Loulou might be able to fly down too........

star6 · 26/06/2009 22:28

LOL MM ROFL about DH hanging DS from the clothesline! I realize this is not a good thing and not meant to be funny, but what a typical DH idea... hmmmmm, I wonder if DS could hang from the clothesline? What would that look like? Would his drool dry? let me try it.... HA! Stupid men!

Marthasmama · 26/06/2009 22:32

Star - DS was 5 at the time which makes it even more . DH is an idiot. You see why the idea of him being a spy was so laughable now Ronshar? You'd love watching their antics. Last year was also the year of the 'balancing act'. DS would stand on DH's hands and DH would lift him up in the air whilst DS balanced. They thought they were fabulous. They did this trick all the time. The thing is, it didn't look anywhere near as impressive as they thought it did. DS was convinced they were going to join the circus or go on Britain's Got Talent or something. They are as silly as each other.

Honeymoonmummy · 26/06/2009 22:47

Hey all. Just a quick one as I'm sooo tired, AND i've been asleep all afternoon while DH looked after Poppy! [Lazy HMM emoticon]

Poppy LOVES pitta bread - with houmous, butternut squash, cream cheese... Plus she likes sprouts and gnocchi and shredded wheat (not all together), NONE of which are in the AK book!!!!! Get me!!!

I'm sorry, I've not read back, I'll catch up properly tomorrow.

Bloody breadmaker. I scrubbed it and everything then DH realised that it's missing the mixer bit that goes inside. Doh. It's only been used (by DH) once in 6 years and that was 6 years ago!!

Never mind...we gonna borrow one from PIL for now.

Night all!

Honeymoonmummy · 26/06/2009 22:56

Hmm, have just realised it's nearly 5 weeks since my last period. I guess it's bound to be erratic at first, esp with the BF. I'm pretty sure it's not what you're thinking!!

jenwa · 27/06/2009 08:30

Hi all

lol at our DH and DS MM hehe.

where does pistachio live then? I cant remember where anyone is..doh!

HM pretty sure??? can the meds mess them up too? Sorry about the bread maker too, what a pain!

Off to my parents this afty as they are having a grenadier guards party in there garden, my Dad was in the grenadier guards and they have an event every year that they attend but decided to have one of their own his year. Dont worry though, I dont have to dess up just concerned it will rain!

Would be good to all meet up.
Gotto go, dd2 pouring her drink over her pjs!

star6 · 27/06/2009 12:22

question about juice. Is there a reason to give babies juice? Is it ok to just give them breastmilk and water? I give Q plenty of fruit... just not sure what the benefits of giving juice are? If someone might enlighten me? I'd like Q to be happy drinking water and not depend on juice... I know a lot of kids who refuse to drink water and only will drink juice at age 5-7 and it's just too bad, so I want to try to prevent that?

Marthasmama · 27/06/2009 12:33

Star - You don't need to give juice. Juice has lots of sugar in and can damage their teeth, plus having too much juice has been linked to obesity in young children because of the high sugar content. I started giving DS watered down juice when he was 12 months, but there really is no need for them to have it. Stick with boob juice and water for as long as you can.

star6 · 27/06/2009 12:39

cool that's what I was thinking, MM - about the sugar... didn't know it was related to obesity. yuck. Q is very happy to drink water and obviously my milk.

Can I just say how UNBELIEVABLE it is not to have to express milk right now?????? I don't think I'll have to save the once a day at work once I return to school, either, since Q doesn't take a bottle anymore.

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/06/2009 12:41

Dd won't drink squash . She likes milk and water, and is allowed 1 carton of innocent smoothie or one glass of apple juice each day (to try and up her fruit intake, as she won't eat actual fruit).

Honeymoonmummy · 27/06/2009 12:49

Funny that u talking about juice. Poppy has a stinking cold, I'm gonna make her a hot blackcurrant drink (prev just had water), I assume that will work as well as lemon? Thought lemon/ orange might be bit acidic for reflux.

Also, do u give your LO's max dose of calpol when they ill? I've given it v sparingly to date.

star6 · 27/06/2009 12:51

Did she always not eat fruit csws?
Q used to eat whatever we put in front of him and he'd keep eating until we stopped feeding him.. .he'd eat and eat and eat and eat... he would see us scraping the yogurt container or his bowl and cry...
But NOW, he turns his nose up at whatever he doesn't want. Seems to only want fruit, bread (either plain, w/ unsalted butter or w/ peant butter) and yogurt. Oatabix or oatmeal in the morning is acceptable to him as well. He'll still eat stuff like sweet potato adn peas, beans, lentils... but not nearly as much. a very small portion then wants bread fruit or yogurt. It's frustrating!

I also feel like hes not taking as much milk. His feeds are really quick (except those before naps and bedtime). He's definitely still looking "well fed" but I just worry he's not getting enough nutrients...
anyone else notice their baby slowed down on food intake?

star6 · 27/06/2009 12:53

I've given 5ml since the dr said it was ok. (6 months? can't recall...) calpol. I don't give it a lot but when I can tell he's in a lot of pain I give him the 5 ml. He's fine with it. Poor Poppy I hope the blackcurrant drink works well for her.

Q has been asleep for an hour and a half...
