Oh god yes, we're fed up of the same dinners all the time too. Let's all share a list of the sort of stuff we eat in case we can inspire each other. Doesn't have to be grand.

I'll most certainly be bringing dh to Warwick.

MM - am happy to go to Willows any time .

Let me know how you get on on the blw site aubergenie. I could only find one big screenful of recipes last night, but I know that there are more somewhere. Should prob ask Aitch really.

ohhhh goodness.... just looked up warwick castle (before mentioning to DH).... DH is a medieval historian... we MIGHT have to find a place to stay and come on Saturday afternoon.... or I'll have to let him wander and indulge. I'm glad I looked it up, DH would be disappointed that I didn't really know what it was all about DH's favourite thing is to go look at castles... especially ruins, though. It is exciting... we're American, so we don't have a lot like that back at home ... so those of you who have not met me before, we'll be the obvious american family of 3 staring with open mouths in awe of hte amazing history...

star6 · 18/07/2009 20:10

myjob's husband is so sweet
And DS is a lovely normal 3 year old boy!!! (and he's quite clever, too!)

star6 · 18/07/2009 20:12

omg and there is jousting every day in August.... wow, DH will be in medieval heaven!! I'll make sure he behaves and plays nicely in the sandbox that weekend.
He usually behaves very well and is extra nice after sex. So I can sort that

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/07/2009 20:16

lol star! Sex and a castle - he will be a happy boy.

OK so we laid off the sleep training for a bit while Q was in the most teething pain. I'd let him cry a bit and then he'd get really tired and I'd go and give him a quick feed, he'd doze off within minutes.... so now that he's ok with the teething pain, (with calprofen), I let him cry much longer tonight. I went in every 7 minutes to shhh and I would even lean over and give a cuddle in the cot, but make him stay in the cot. he was crying so hard an hour and a half total. He stopped for 10 min... I went in and he was fighting sleep sitting up! So I laid him down and he didn't fight it (the first time in an hour and a half) but he's still taking those quick breaths that you take after crying for a long time

Warwick Castle sounds really fun. I went on a school trip there when I was at Primary School and I remember enjoying it. Lots of looking out for a bear with a staff? It's too far for us I'm afraid but also we'll be in Dorset for a week with my family. Have a great time though.

Star and CSWS are we still on for Godstone? Could we maybe meet at 11 as a compromise? Just gives me more time to get out and hopefully miss some traffic?

MM- So glad you are home. I'm sure M will be a mummy's girl again very quickly. I'm sure these dcs like to punish mums. By the way you haven't missed much at the Hop Farm. There is quite a lot that your ds would probably like, driving circuit, big playground area, but it was just a bit odd. A real mish mash of things, wax works, 3-d goblin thing, tanks ?? The animal part was tiny and they all looked at bit sad. Plus it was £13 to get in and the same for children (not ds obv) which seemed incredibly expensive for what was there. Also it was empty- maybe because most people have visited before and decided never again It wasn't a bad day though as we made the best of it and had a nice picnic near a peacock.

Star- Well done with the sleep training, it is really hard to leave them crying. Agree with Myjob- he knows you are there.

We might be able to make the Godstone farm meet up, I'll have to see how ds is doing, his eczema has really flared up and so he is really unsettled at the moment, poor chap. I'm trying to decide whether its the washing powder (we changed back to fairy non-bio recently), the new anti-histamine we've been given, or the fact that I've given him some 'normal' bread which had soya flour in. Aaargh!!!!

MM, I'm sure M will be back to being a mummy's girl soon enough! I'm glad you are back home and feeling so good.

CSWS, glad to hear that the sickness is over in your household. Poor D, bumping his mouth again. Luckily M can't quite pull himself up yet, he gets onto his knees then looks surprised and can't work out what to do with himself .

I'm with everyone on the 'sameness' of meals. I'm trying to go through some of my many recipe books and make a list of easy recipes (that can be adapted to our special diets!) to help me get out of this rut! Unfortunately I keep getting distracted by things like mn

Star, its hard to hear it when they are upset, but he's upset because he can't get to sleep, not because of you. Both of mine if they were overtired would scream like mad even if we were holding them and then suddenly just give in fall asleep.

Marthasmama · 19/07/2009 08:33

Star - Sex and a castle, that made me laugh and hurt my belly! I have to get DH to do any sleep training as I am too much of a wuss plus for some reason M's crying turns me into a crazy woman. I get really stressed, so you you're doing better job than I would have been able to!

Hmm - She is a cheeky minx isn't she? All that fighting so I could get her in to see me, all those times s he came in & I had to try to find a comfy position..... She actually seemed pretty happy to have me there last night so I'll let her off!

Pistachio - Awwww that is so cute of your dd. You've obviously been a fabulous role model, we need a generation of little girls that see breastfeeding as the norm.

Ekka - M's eczema is a PITA too. It's not as bad as M's (confusing!) but nothing seems to work on it. Well, things seem to work, then stop working, then start working again. It;s very strange, nothing else changes. M does that pulling herself up on her knees thing too, only she does pelvic thrusts once she's there!

Rachie - Are you near Greenwich? DH often suggests going to Greenwich so maybe when I'm better those of us near London could meet up there. I think Chatham Dockyard is better than the Hop Farm but probably not at J's age! There are loads of mannequins there .

Myjob - Unfortunately intelligent children are challenging. DS is also a real pickle and has always been one. Every time he's being a PITA just remember it is because he is so bright! That certainly helped me get through lots with DS.

jenwa · 19/07/2009 08:34

star lol at sex and castles, I hope you too dont wonder off if he is grumpy to some secret tower YOu are doing fab with Q though and he wont ever think you leave him, remember he always wakes in the morning and sees you so you have never left him

mm glad your home, you should have asked me and star to pop in for a quick clean whilst you were gone

ekka sorry your ds has eczema again, its a trial and error I think taking away things, prob with washing powder is you have to remember what you washed in it so it may flare up again in afew weeks when he wears something that had been washed with it. Poor thing but hope he is ok.

I have completely forgotten where everyone lives now, I need a list again

P has been really trying to crawl and can get from sitting to crawling and sitting back up, I found her sitting up in her cot the other day!

jenwa · 19/07/2009 08:35

myjob also meant to mention re your ds, he is the same age as my dd and it will be nice to see them meet, they seem to be simular with their night terrors and day time grouchiness

CantSleepWontSleep · 19/07/2009 10:26

thread on fb jenwa re where we all live.

On way to swimming so on properly later.
