ROUND TWO: MOMMY WINS!
Reese was obviously in bed asleep when I got home last night. DH fed her a small amount of cereal with her before-bed bottle (of which he said she only drank about 2oz). She didn't make peep until 5am. I got up then, found her pacey, gave it to her and adjusted her blankets. She continued to fuss a bit but NOTHING like yesterday. At one point I said "Reese that's enough go back to sleep." She immediately stopped crying and put her head back down....dozing off to sleep until proper wake-up time, 7am.

IT'S WORKING!!!!!!!

Morning.

Yes, I agree with you all...More Live Music!

TwilightSurfer · 19/06/2009 12:25

side note: the 5am resettling...i did not pick her up. i only patted her on the back then crawled back into my own bed.

AnnVan · 19/06/2009 12:42

Hi everyone. My highchair arrived today (well Seb's highchair). I didn't get an antilop. I was going to, but here's the problem: you can buy the CHAIR online, but you can't buy the tray so. I've got a highchair now anyway, just have to assemble it.
I don't think we have any words going here. Seb says a lot of Dada and Mumum, but we can't tell if he says it with meaning. He doesn't crawl, he drags himslef along with his arms. He can also pull himself up, and walk the length of the coffee table while holding on.
We had a terrible night, with lots of hysterical shrieking, and had a very hard time calming him down.

Hi to everyone. loving the cute brotheres and sisters on here
Anyhoo, MIL has taken Seb to the gym (with a packed lunch ) so I'm going to do some SERIOUS cleaning. ALready have laundry out on the line, and more laundry in the machine.

TwilightSurfer · 19/06/2009 13:19

Laundry! Thanks Ann I knew there was something else I needed to add to my LIST.

what highchair did you get in the end ann?

alittlebitshy · 19/06/2009 17:17

did i kill the thread?

CaptainCaveman · 19/06/2009 17:25

Hi albs you thread killer!

ann how exciting re the chair - does Seb approve? (assuming you've managed to assemble it?!)

No1 you really ought to get a job working for a baby/parent magazine, then you can 'test' all their stuff for them!

ts great news for your night time settling. Can you come over and try it on Oliver for me?

Hello to everyone else too

We're off to the summer fete at ds1's school shortly. Praying the rain holds off. We'll just have to take shelter in the beer tent if thats the case

alittlebitshy · 19/06/2009 17:34

that's a good idea cavey - the school fete on friday evening idea. straight after school might mean some parents can;t make it, and the weekend means giving up other committments....

sambo303 · 19/06/2009 20:17

Hi all

ds sat up from lying down and pulled himself up from sitting to standing for the first time ever yesterday. Obviously been saving those moves up - think it's due to the example of his 1 year old cousin we spent last weekend with. I really wish he'd hurry up with the sleeping longer than 2.5 hours though as it really got me down today, such that I did not want to play with him at all I was so fed up.

sazzles hope you manage to sort you work problem out. I have requested 4 day weeks and cannot concentrate enough to fill in the form, really struggling over it... how I will cope when I go back to 8 hour days and deadlines etc I do not know

hotpot hope your first week back went ok and you are well into a well earned glass or two

ts another needing your night settling skills/patience here - in fact we are moving to strategy now after the hell of last night (screaming from midnight to 1.30am) which is that I will not feed ds any more at night (between 11pm and 6am) - dp will settle using patting and shushing and no picking up. We have to get serious now as I will be going back to work in 6 weeks (unless I get my 4 weeks parental leave too which has not been agreed yet, fingers crossed)

maimla I have sewing machine envy, my janome is very rudimentary ,I dream of a pfaff or bernina. Your dp sounds fab indeed

cc hope the weather stayed dry for the fete

hi to everyone else

off to look for my first post which will undoubtedly make me at its dullness...

dizzydixies · 19/06/2009 20:26

sambo wouldn't worry about the dullness - mine wasn't exactly inspiring and I know exactly how you feel about being fed up - I snapped at DH because we had the worst night last night we've had in a long long time and I'm exhausted today - something has to change very soon or I'm going to sit in the corner rocking, mumbling and sobbing

sazz am dreading the back to work negotiations so huge sympathies - and gorgeous pic of L

hots hope all went smoothly and you enjoyed some adult conversation

evening everyone else - have a lot of admin to do tonight and def an early night for me incase we have a repeat performance of last night

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 19/06/2009 20:39

aww dizzy and sambo sorry to hear of your rough nights too, I thought ours was bad. Up at 4 and dh had to go to work at 6.30 too.
Hope you both have better nights.
yay for minisambo standing. well done.

cc that would be a cool job. I am bidding on yet another pram too It was the one I wanted in the first place but shipping from us was too expensive.

DD been to docs today and got antibiotics for a bulging inner ear and very swollen glands. dh just got in from work and dd heard him so I can hear her babbling to him upstairs.

dizzydixies · 19/06/2009 20:44

oh oh No1 what pram are you bidding on? hope the antibiotics kick in for DD, I personally hate tooth/ear ache

DD1's front tooth is nearly out, hanging on in there by a wing and a promise and she keeps showing me - now I can handle things when I need to by that gives me the right heebie jeebies

sambo303 · 19/06/2009 20:48

oh goddizzy the tooth hanging on by a thread, yuk. I kind of remember menacing adults with that when I was a kid

no1 your poor dd, hope the antibiotics kick in soon

dizzydixies · 19/06/2009 20:50

I keep giving her things to bite into in the hope that the tooth will stay in it but she's wise to me, wee smart arse cookie that she is - must get that from me

Yay for miniSambo and well done on getting those first days out of the way Hotter.

Lovely to hear from you Sambo- how are things going back at work?

The teeth thing is vile Dizzy. Bleurgh. DS does it too.

The in-laws arrive in an hour. I have totally foxed them by leaving them with no alternative to thinking I am not an out and out witch. They have had to be nice to me on the phone and everything.

How long before FIL detects an imaginary slight and starts sulking though? OR MIL decides that by moving swiftly from room to room I am 'being aggressive'?

Ho hum.
I'll be on tomorrow Hotter: just have the gin ready.

RedLentil · 19/06/2009 21:35

The room thing is indeed bonkers. I have to remember to whisper, gush and move modestly.

Not in all fairness my natural mode of transport.

Ah now the email is here. Will reply properly on Sunday when the dust has settled here.

dizzydixies · 19/06/2009 21:50

oh god RED - huge kudos to you for the in-law visit, am dreading mine coming again in a couple of weeks [meep] I shall be onhand with the spirit wine of your choice when you need it

we're having Father's Day tomorrow as DH working on Sun - am struggling with the guilt of not going down to see my dad on Sun - I have a list of excuses reasons though which include

  1. no pennies for the £40 round trip petrol
  2. 4hr round trip with all 3 kids in tow and I'm exceptionally tired at the moment
  3. girls would miss their gymnastics
  4. he's coming up for the christening in a few weeks
  5. I've sent a card

so am I getting out of jail free OR am I a completely shitey ungrateful selfish wench of a daughter?

and before anyone asks, which I know you will as you're all so wonderful at listening to my rants, I am doing fathers day for DH because

  1. he is a fantastic Dad and deserves to have it recognised
  2. the girls will enjoy having a special day for their dad
  3. I like occassions and the celebrating that goes along with it and have to respect the fact that as much as I like it, he doesn't and just because he doesn't think he's not the devil incarnate

no mroe lists from me tonight ladies - am all done

RedLentil · 19/06/2009 21:51

Their flight got in at nine, and DH has gone to pick them up.

Fil is frightened of driving on Irish roads and so we ferry them around while they are here.

Memo to self: do not sit in front seat or fil will really sulk.
