TwilightSurfer · 24/06/2009 02:44

HOLA CHICAS!! Heading to bed. All the laundry is DONE and in a pile on my bedroom floor.

GREAT NIGHT TO ALL

Expectant · 24/06/2009 02:57

Steaky {{{{hugs}}}} I suppose having a deadline whether self-imposed or not may force a decision. LOL on the lucky pants (or not as the case may be). Good news on the housing/child benefit.

Red pleased to hear about the kitchen and stupidly our kitchen is the only room without a/c way too hot to spend any length of time in there.

TS thanks sorry to hear about BIL's AC. Ours is a pain as we're renting the air-con men came out yesterday lunch time only to tell me we needed a new compressor unit but they can't do anything till they get the go ahead from the landlord so we're stuck in the spare room till then (on a different circuit).

I think the heat is getting to me at the moment. It has been ridiculously hot even by Singapore standards and I find I'm craving cooler weather a bit (no doubt if we moved back it would be the first thing I complained about ). DS gets so sweaty as well poor little man.

Can I have a role in all of this? Not really sure what I can contribute.

sambo303 · 24/06/2009 07:01

what cute bears no1 especially the one called Felix!

can I offer admin skills to the Aug08 enterprise? I like filing

terrible night here, dp tried to settle ds for ...oh...30 seconds at 2ish before bringing him in to us then he squirmed for an hour whilst we held his arms and legs down half asleep til he finally conked out only to reawaken at 5am whereupon dp shouts at me to fg feed him thus breaking the other rule we agreed on (no feeds between 11 and 6) he didnt go back to sleep anyway so was a waste of time

humpf

oopsacoconut · 24/06/2009 07:12

Morning

Sambo - Sorry you had a rough night.

Early up today at 6 but DD did sleep from 7.30 to 4.30 then fed and woke for a party at 6, tried to feed her to slepp in her room , then in out room but she decided that she would rather pull DH's nose so we got up.

We have family arriving from South Africa today fortunately only stopping here for lunch on the way to mum and dad's house then DD and I are heading up there tomorrow. It is the first time I am taking her away alone over night DH is a little I am trying to claim my sisters room as the sitting room could be a bit noisy with 4 other kids in the house in the morning.

dizzydixies · 24/06/2009 07:49

ah Sambo its all rather fraught when lack of sleep kicks in isn't it. absolutely entitled to a harumph after that from DH

oops we're up early too but she slept without waking AND DD2 didn't play silly buggers either so was great. I also didn't hear DH come home at whenever o'clock so I must have been tired how lovely to see your relatives and I'm sure they will ADORE poppy. I have to smile at the first time away overnight from DH - mine is always delighted when we're away as he gets a good sleep!!!

still high as a kite after meeting last night and am even considering doing a mood board of all my ideas to get them in one place - been making cakes since 6am too

vanilla cake and banana & pecan pie on their second trial run - I like to do everything 3 times before recommending - you never know if they're a fluke or not

should be nice here again once the haar burns off - off to do school/nursery run and deliver cakes

dizzydixies · 24/06/2009 07:52

oh lord have just turned into my mother - DD1 threw something onto the table to which I announced 'DD1!! thats how things get lost!! '

its a downward spiral from here I fear

sambo303 · 24/06/2009 08:16

lol at turning into your mother dizzy and I think a mood board is a fab idea. It's good to get ideas that are spinning round your head out.

was not really the worst night ever last night just that ds did 3 nights of sleeping from 10 til 5/6 and we really thought we'd cracked it, just the disappointment of dashed expectations.

oops yes what is it with the attack on your face first thing? ds loves to slap and scratch our faces making for a less than calm wake up call

morning sazzles yes, the point of not bring ds into our room is that I have not yet got around to ordering our blackout linings whereas ds has a blackout blind in his room so he's bound to wake at 5ish in our room. Ba ba blind looks a good buy. Hope you enjoy swimming and zoo.

oopsacoconut · 24/06/2009 08:52

Ladies - I am here in praise of the BaaBaa blind - we have weird windows in our house and they are fab. Takes a bit of getting used to when putting them up but once you have the hang of it they are FAB. Sales pitch over

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 24/06/2009 09:07

Moring all. Thanks for compliments on my bears. I will have to say they are not my best, hence on ebay at lower price
Sorry to hear of rough nights sazzles & sambo I also tried the not offering milk between midnight and 6/7 Ds screamed on and off for an hour including being cuddled and put down. Dh came in and sai whats wrong, he should be sleeping through by now etc.... and 'just feed him'. so I offer boob and he just comfort sucks.
Hope you all have a good day.

Miamla · 24/06/2009 09:11

morning all
i'm not here! i'm hidying and meant to be filling a form in for work. Has anyone else had to apply for flexible working? Can anyone help? i don't know what kind of answers they're looking for!

  1. Briefly state the circumstances prompting your request for a modified work arrangement and then answer the following questions:
  1. How will the proposed arrangement enhance, or at least sustain, your ability to get the job done?
  1. Describe any additional benefits to Engine that might result from this flexible working arrangement.
  1. What potential problems could the new arrangement raise with a) external clients b) your team or co-workers c) your manager?
  1. How do you suggest overcoming any problems with these groups?
  1. Describe the deliverables and measurements (qualitative and quantitative) that you propose for you and your manager to use in assessing how your performance is meeting or exceeding expectations.
  1. What review process should you and your manager use to constructively monitor and improve your flexible working arrangement? Cite the measurable outcomes to be used in the review process.
  1. What would be one or more early warning signs that the arrangement isn?t working?
  1. What are the costs, if any, the agency will need to incur to make this request work?
  1. Is the request for a temporary or extended period of time?
poppysocks · 24/06/2009 09:12

No fancy blinds here, just Hombase's finest with a blanket taped to the wall over the top . Can't say it works every day though. Damn those east facing rooms (on the east coast, in the north of the country). Sorry to hear of the early mornings and fraught nights. Ok here today, but that'll be the haar keeping it dark and grim. We're all optimistically attired in shorts etc so it'd better bugger off.

Off to bribe DD1 into opening her mouth for the dentist and sitting still for the hairdresser. This will be fun.....

dizzy - your energy is making me feel weak! I thought I was doing well to have been up, showered and dressed before DH and the girls this morning.

LOL at wanting some cold weather expectant. A short time here would certainly solve that.

poppysocks · 24/06/2009 09:19

Lots of X-posts there...

Oh dear miamla. What a stupid bunch of questions. Talk about trying to put people off applying. Luckily my form was just your questions 4 and 5. It looks like it's going to be a case of repeating the same stuff in slightly different ways. How irritating.

Meant to say before sazz - and and your boss conducting formal HR proceedings by text!

Eek - better run. DD2 has discovered the volume dial on the DVD player and looking v. pleased with herself as she intermittently treats us all to extra loud blasts of Little Miss Splendid ...Oh and there's dancing too now from her .

Hi all. Miamla my form was short like Poppy describes. Have you already spoken to your manager, is s/he supportive? If so the form is just a formality I suppose and you can be fairly cursory/repetitive. If you're actually going to have to convince people with it then a bit more detail perhaps... hard to advise specifically without knowing more about your job but I guess what they 'want' is for you to abase yourself and go on about how it won't cost them anything and your productivity will double...

No1 very cute bears! I like TS's enterprise idea, I might have to join Sambo on the admin side though unless knitted products are any use to you at the rate of about one scarf per year...

Sambo very at small hours swearing. As if you weren't tired and stressed too!

Dizzy and Poppy thank you for the word haar!

dizzydixies · 24/06/2009 10:03

pertelote we do like a good Haar up here

VG the planning have to let us know OR ask for an extension by the 20th July - all toooooooooo exciting EEK!! have been boring poor DH to death with the plans this morning and bless him, he managed to keep the Lions rugby off for a wee while and didn't glaze over

have made the most FAB cake ever - was better than first attempt and shall make another one on Sun for DD1's birthday thing and if its a success again I shall let you all in on it

Sazz enjoy your day

Expectant happy for you to come and stay here for a while to cool off!!

miamla am sorry if this is going over things again but can I ask what it is that you do that they need such a complicated questionnaire done?!

pertelote · 24/06/2009 10:18

Dizzy I can't believe this is the first time you've mentioned the haar in all our time together but it's the first time I've noticed it! Hope it has burnt off to give you a nice sunny day though.

Hi VG! Like the sound of joint guitar lessons I learnt guitar for a few years at school - came to thoroughly loathe it but that was probably mostly to do with my adolescent Ishoos so I'm sure you and DS will have fun!

CaptainCaveman · 24/06/2009 10:24

VG I used one of those seat things for ds1 and from what i recall, it was jolly good. I have kept it too, so that I can use if for ds2 - thanks for reminding me!

Sad stuff - my friend whose husband died last year (only 36 ) was crying at school this morning as we dropped the kids off. Today is her dc3's 5th bday and his first without his daddy . I don't know how she does it. 4 kids, aged 9, 7, 5 and 3. I invited her round for coffee and company, seemed the least I could do . My heart is so sad for her.

Sorry to bring you all down! The weather is gorgeous and I intend to make the most of nursey being closed this week (I'm off with O today) - by spending the entire day in the sunshine if at all possible!
