oh CC how awful for her and her DC. It can be terrible having to keep going and keep going and keep going only for an occassion or a first to wipe the feet out from underneath. How wonderful though that she has such a lovely friend to realise that she's needs some support through this, you are truely a gem

Haar remains at the moment Pertelote which is fine as I have boring admin to do and would happily ignore it were it sunnier!

CaptainCaveman · 24/06/2009 10:29

Now what could I possibly do for the Aug08 store? I'm not arty, in any way, whatsoever. I can't even cut straight with a pair of scissors!
VG would have to write all our literature, given her supreme talent for writing
I am acutally a really good manager [big head emoticon], if I do say so myself. So if we hire some urchins staff to help run the store I could boss them around direct them to maximise their potential (management bullshit speak)

Miamla · 24/06/2009 10:31

i'm an IT trainer for an advertising agency. i'm so pleased its not just me who's flummoxed by the form! It really is so repetitive and filling it in hasn't been helped by DS being in 'screech' mode today! And we had a particularly bad night last night (spent ages getting him to sleep each time for him to wake 15/20mins later!)
sorry for moan moan moan. i want to sleep instead of filling in this stupid form. not sure how supportive of part-time my manager is. i want to do 2 days, he wants me to do 3. He did say he wanted to show people that girls in IT can go back to work after having a baby

dizz i hope you haven't forgotten the queue of people you've got waiting to taste-test your cakes!
that's great news that yo'ull be getting an answer soon on the cafe!

sazz another vote here for not using a spider infested potty!

poppy hairdresser and dentist on the same day? are you mad woman!!

CaptainCaveman · 24/06/2009 10:32

oooh thanks dizzy
Btw, what is this 'haar' of which you speak?
I don't think we have any 'haar' in NOttingham at present

dizzydixies · 24/06/2009 10:35

haar - big mist coming off the river and nowt to do with lady gardens lol

stuff for DD1's party bags has arrived but have ordered 5 kids wooden SCOOPS instead of wooden SPOONS

the rest is FAB though

Miamla · 24/06/2009 10:38

i was wondering about the 'haar' too so thanks for asking cc!

dizzydixies · 24/06/2009 10:39

oh oh oh can I be the thread party planner/event organiser/online researcher/shopper/finder person please?!?

I'm very good at weddings (not that I'm hinting at all Miamla )

Miamla · 24/06/2009 10:47

as long as you understand that your number one job is making cakes then yes you can do the rest too!

hmm, interesting idea... come on then Dizz... throw a couple of ideas my way and i'll give you a mark out of 10

wedding planning is soo much more fun than stupid form filling!

VG you're fantastic! i'm crying from laughing! DS also laughing because he thinks he's done something funny (in fact he's just destroyed a box of my contact lenses but that's another matter!)
thank you thank you thank you!!!! i'm not sure i'll use your exact words but that is such a huge help

Miamla · 24/06/2009 11:17

forgot to say, the really ridiculous thing about this form is that i worked part time for almost a year after i broke my back. perhaps i should mention that as proof it works!

cyteen · 24/06/2009 11:30

Miamla good job VG is on hand to provide such comprehensive answers I must admit, my eyes glazed over before I'd even read to the end of question one. Management speak has a lot to answer for.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you break your back? I always wonder about it when you mention it, sounds like a horrific experience. Obviously don't answer if you don't want to though, I am just casually nosy curious and not wanting to pry into v personal business

You're clearly made of stern stuff to have overcome it in such fine style. My friend who destroyed his knee earlier in the year is not having a happy time of it at all; he keeps getting infections in the bone and I think is struggling to change his perception of who he is and what he can do

CC I think you would have to be the group's spiritual shepherd, you are such a wonderful friend. How awful for your mate and her children I hope they can find some way to mark the day and remember him that isn't too painful, although at this stage probably everything is.

OP posts:
Miamla · 24/06/2009 11:55

CC sorry, completely missed your post earlier about your friend. I don't know what to say, I can't even imagine how awful it would be to be in that situation. She's lucky to have someone like you in her life

cyteen i landed with a bit of a bump from about 40ft after a few malfunctions with a parachute. Not sure about the stern stuff bit but i am pretty bloody minded and wouldn't take "you have to learn to live with the pain and accept that you'll always walk with a stick" as the solution i was aiming for. Not really sure what best to say about your friend. He needs to work out what he can do and aim to do the other stuff as soon as he can. I guess he needs to get a bit stubborn and not accept that life is going to be shit from now on in. if you think i can help, feel free to pass on my email to him

vg i feel like i've cheated and got someone else to do my homework for me!

lwfh · 24/06/2009 13:52

rubbish night here. DH fantastic, never cross and always supportive, but it's still me who does the settling of DS. BF much less at night but he was in bed with us most of the night and still awake every hour. Just wanted to moan really. Sorry. I don't post for ages and then I moan.

In all other ways DS is practically perfect and now with my MIL so that I can carry on marking exams ...

CC how sad about your friend.

poppysocks · 24/06/2009 13:58

My goodness miamla - that sounds terrible, but good on you for getting over the psychological hurdles as well as the physical . Good luck to your friend cyteen.

So sorry to hear about your friend CC. So tragic . She is lucky to have a friend like you though.

Believe it or not, dentist-hairdresser combo passed off without incident. Use of stickers and cake as bribery/rewards worked a treat .

Hmmm, what can I contribute to the Aug08 store... ... If we need to get any rich people to 'share' their funds I could probably help find them and prize their money from their grubby little hands and maybe produce some snazzy material to help with the persuasion? I can't promise to be very good at it, but I have had quite a bit of practice .

poppysocks · 24/06/2009 14:00

Hi lwfh. Sorry to hear the night was tricky, but great that DH is behind you (albeit horizontally in bed, fast asleep ). How's the pregnancy going?

sambo303 · 24/06/2009 14:40

cc your poor friend, thank goodness she has you to lean on.

miamla what a horrendous form, I only had 2 questions and they were hard enough (took me 1 week to complete) I wish I had thought of the wonderful things vg suggests at the time.

lwfh your dh sounds very saintly

have found a cm for ds. I am so relieved. She's the first one I've met properly although we met her in March and both really liked her and were hoping she'd still be free when we needed her. Phew. She doesnt eat meat (like us), uses cloth nappies and is totally chilled out. Her husband is even a carpenter like dp.

sambo303 · 24/06/2009 14:58

oh and she's doing blw with her daughter who's 1 week older than Felix. Perfect

London meet up - pert suggested July which would be lovely. Can I suggest a Tuesday or a Thursday? Except 28th/30th....

got a surprise email from my MP yesterday - I emailed him to invite him to a protest picnic on 20 July in Parliament Square in support of changing the law to protect people feeding babies bf or ff in public places and he wrote right back saying he would meet me there cos his wife got lots of rude comments out bfing their dc and he thinks its shocking what people say. I am most surprised and impressed.

fucksticks indeed sazzles 'These times' are proving a right pain in the rear end. What's that Chinese curse? "May you live in interesting times" Well, that's about right.
Will you know the other options soon?

dizzydixies · 24/06/2009 17:53

sambo great news all round

poppy glad to hear it passed sans incident

sazz all round work wise I have to go back money wise but fecking hell I got the news today that I was dreading and the new shift pattern isn't to be introduced until Jan (not Oct as promised) and that lands DH right in the poop shall we come up with a money making scheme

miamla I feel I have never written this with more worth behind it before but [MEEP] and bravo you

lwfh its not bloody easy without being pregnant so you have my sympathies

Peemission to uise the word FUCKSTICKS and warning IL rant ahead!

We had booked to go camping next week and I was looking forward to it very very muchly. Dh was too. IL have just phoned to say they thought DH needed a break as he is very stressed (which he is) so they have cancelled our camping and have booked a hotel in Cornwall instead. Okay I know I am being ungrateful but I wanted MY holiday with MY family organised by US not order on a holiday by the IL's. I am suitably PISSED but I know that DH really does need a hotel break where he is waited on hand and foot and there are still beaches and places to take DD, it's just not what I wanted to do with our time off.

Sazzles - it's not good about work hopefully you can get it sorted out soon.

CC - sorry to hear about your friend, you are such a great friend to have.

Sambo - really pleased you have had some response from your MP - I mailed mine about it and he never replied!

Miamla - I wouldn't even know where to start with questions like that.

dizzydixies · 24/06/2009 18:59

VG you are, as usual a genius

DH and I dropped cakes into cafe and went to St Andrews to try out a cafe that lovely Poppy had recommended but when we got to town we realised it was graduation and it was heaving with students/parents etc etc

so we went to Pizza express instead as we figured they wouldn't want to be taking mummy and daddy there for graduation lunch! we walk about the town afterwards with just Dylan in her buggy then home

DH now at work, all 3 girls in bed as shattered and I'm resigning myself am going to be up at the crack of dawn [meep]
