Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
emmabemmasmom · 15/06/2009 10:41

Oh great thanks! I just had a look and found one, but can't find a voucher code online. May wait a day or two and see if I can find one

Belgianchocolates · 15/06/2009 10:48

Hi everyone.

Looks like I've come back to a new thread. It only took me half an hour to catch up

First and foremost. I hope that all of you with aches and pains/colds/poorly dcs get better soon.

BF bras I'm hoping that once I've lost a bit more weight I'll be able to fit in a hotmilk bra. Luckily my cup size hasn't changed from when I was pregnant as I'd feared. A 36FF is big enough as it is. At the moment I've got a truly hideous one from Bravissimo. It's cups come so high up that I can't wear half my tops. They even peek out of my H&M nursing top. But it's no use buying a new one now. I want to wait to get refitted to as close to our holiday as possible in the hope that I will have lost even more weight by then.

C really puzzles me, you know. At night, say about 10, you can put her down on the sofa/in her crib, but not her pram and she'll just lie there and quietly drop off. During the day (like now) when she's tired, she screams and screams and I can't settle her to sleep at all, except for in the sling and occasionally on the boob, but often she gets upset because there's too much milk coming out when she just wants a bit of comfort . I really don't understand why she just goes to sleep with no rocking/holding/feeding at night and not during the day. I'm trying to think what's different, but I can't really think of anything. It's not even the dark that makes a difference, because at night she'll fall asleep in a fully lit living room.

Spangle Was it you who was on a progesterone only pill with a 12h window, rather than the usual 2h one? What's it called? I think I'll ask the GP to prescribe me that while I'm waiting for my 1st period (coil needs to be fitted during a period).

Our camping trip was a success. C even had her best sleep ever down there. On sat she fed every 2h on the dot and because we were just relaxing and not doing much I could just do as she liked. At about 10 she fell asleep and then slept until 3.30 and after that woke at 7! Normally she does a 5h sleep from about 10-11 and then goes 2h after that (bit like H, spangle). I felt like a normal human being on sun!
The drive home on the other hand was a bit of a nightmare. I can't remember who mentioned their dcs being OK as long as you travel at some speed. Well C is the same. As long as I was on the motorway doing a decent speed she was quiet, but then we hit a big traffic jam on the M1 and she screamed through the whole time. I was on my own with the 3 dcs, so all I could do was try and block it out or I would have gone mad. It's v. stressfull to hear your lo scream like that and not being able to do anything about it. Anyway. When we got home she screamed throught the unpacking of the car, but I needed dc1 and 2's pillow and duvet to put them to bed (it was 9pm) so I had to sort them first. As I was unpacking I noticed ds had weed on the back seat of the car. Not just a little leak either the whole space where he was sitting was soaking and his shorts too. I can tell you I went ballistic, screaming at him and really having to control myself from giving him a few slaps. He's 7 and he knows how to 1) hold it and 2) tell me so I can stop at the services. He never once told me he needed a wee. It turns out he just let it flow because they were watching a DVD and he didn't want to miss a thing . So DH and I have decided that they can't watch any more DVD's in the car for now.

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 15/06/2009 11:06

HV just been...
DS has put on another 2.5oz since Friday
That makes him 7lb 15.5oz
HV was fairly happy but wants to come back and weigh him towards the end of the week.
Am feeling much better now

I must look into these Anita bras. What's so great about them?
Mothercare ones are awful as they give zero support. I have some Debenhams ones.

Belgianchocolates · 15/06/2009 11:23

Ses That's great new. You're doing brilliantly. Stop worrying

The Anita ones are underwired. Personally I'm too worried about blocked milkducts to consider an underwired nursing bra. My favourite ones I've had so far are the Freya ones, such as this one

C has finally settled to sleep now. Now will I put some stuff on eBay, do laundry or clean and tidy the living room? Decisions, decisions...

Reggiee · 15/06/2009 11:45

Hi all. Thought I'd come on here for the 10 minutes it takes B to poo.....grunt...grunt... lots of chat this morning

Daizy sorry to hear about the chickenpox. Not what you want.

Who was it who was asking if anyone else was formula feeding

Reggiee · 15/06/2009 11:48

Emma - current Figleaves discount found at hotukdeals.com is PRIMA09 giving 20% off during June. There are some more discounts there too I think.

Blottedcopybook · 15/06/2009 11:58

Belgian think you only need to be having a period to get a coil fitted if you've not had a baby vaginally - when I had mine done I definitely wasn't menstruating. The POP with the 12 hour window is cerazette.

I've got Greer back in cloth nappies and she doesn't bend! How weird is that?

Also! Who are the other Scotland-based Mums?

Blottedcopybook · 15/06/2009 12:01

ALSO!! For those of you with other DCs - how cool is this coat?!

daizydoo · 15/06/2009 12:03

Belgian - glad you had a good weekend.

Ses - good news on the weight gain!

All this talk of birth control - I am still laughing at dh, he's so adamant that he doesn't want anymore children that he wants me to go back on the pill and use condoms!! I've told him if he's that adamant then he should go for the snip, but he thinks he's too young! I'm secretly hoping he'll change his mind and we can go for no3 at some point!

Anyone who's formula feeding or mixed feeding are you using Aptamil? I have 2 of the ready madeup boxes that I'm willing to send someone.

Belgianchocolates · 15/06/2009 12:11

Blotted after dd1 I was told to have it done during a period. They did have a go at doing it before I started menstruating, but the doc couldn't get it in. So I ended up taking the progesterone only pill for about 10 months.
Oh and what do you mean that Greer doesn't bend? Is the nappy acting like a little corset stopping her from bending in the middle, lol? C's cloth nappies generally make her crotch somewhere by her knees! I've finally got round to getting some vest extenders for her too, which are a really brilliant invention for cloth nappy babes.

I've discovered it's a free listing day on eBay today, so I'm doing that first I think.

Blottedcopybook · 15/06/2009 12:13

Her crotch is near her knees and she has a massively wide bum right up to around her chest. She looks like a weeble!

minimenace · 15/06/2009 12:27

Hello, I'm so glad to finally be able to join you all over here on the otherside. I am gutted I missed the excitment of all the last new arrivals.

I've had a bit of a hard time of it since being home from hospital - today has been the first day I have been able to bear to look at the computerscreen due to a really bad long lasting migraine.

It came on a few days after arriving home from hospital and after first suspecting I may have a dural tap and nearly being sent in for the spinal blood patch which I didn't fancy one bit my MW then found out my blood pressure had shot up dangerously high. which is unusual for me as I had low blood pressure through my whole pregnancy and labour.

I'm normally 80 over 65 and it went right up to 200 over 100 (which was a best of 3)
so the GP prescribed beta blockers then increased them which made me feel pants. changed my painkillers a few times and finally got it all under control.

DPs went off on holiday so DH shipped the in-laws over from France last week to lend a hand while he was back at work. Dispite the language barrier they were brilliant with both DS's enabling me to relax and get back to normal again.

I'm managing to still BF but am worried DS2's weight gain is too low - he seems so tiny still. He has been constipated and then had diarrhea due to the changes in my medication - although the GP says they are safe to take while BFing they still go across in the milk and can affect their bowels. brilliant.

Other than that I have had no post C-section trauma at all and my scar has healed brilliantly so would have recovered amazingly well if it hadn't been for the BP and bad head.
Anyway I'm going to read back and catch up now - hope everyone else is well and Lo's all doing okay. can't wait to read back on the news and will do a big name check in my next post. am so happy to be back online I missed you all.

Belgianchocolates · 15/06/2009 12:50

minimenace Glad to hear from you. Hope you're finally OK now. Pre-eclampsia can also happen after birth, so just as well your mw picked up on your hight BP. I hope it'll all settle soon. We've got a name check amnesty, so don't worry about not name checking us. We're just happy to hear from you

blotted Lol at weeble Greer. C isn't quite a weeble, but does have a huge bum. I love patting her bum in her big nappy though. It feels lovely and firm. She was in disposables this weekend and I hated the squidgy feeling they had when they were wet.

Lunch time now I think, for both me and C. I might watch a bit of loose women while feeding her and having my lunch.

Tummum · 15/06/2009 12:54

MiniM what a horrible time you are having. Do they know why your BP is so high? Is it a post-pregnancy thing? Hope you are feeling better soon and glad you had some support from the ILs.

I'm back from the 6 wk check... which was a total waste of time for me. The only question she asked was "Are you OK?". I said yes, and that was it (apart from the pill)!!! But [worried-sick-emoticon] G is being referred to paed because one of his feet is at right angles to where it should be. I thought it might be his hips but it isn't and the Dr has scared me stupid about plaster -casts and operations to break bones. Luckily we have PMI so should get seen quickly but I am really scared for him. Trying not to be scared but I am !!!

Belgian glad your trip went OK, and what a nightmare journey back.

Ses so happy for the weight gain for your LO. Great news, and definately the right trend.

Tummum · 15/06/2009 12:55

Oh, and I got that new mini-pill too. Was thinking about the implant but the GP warned me off saying it can cause horrible bleeding.

emmabemmasmom · 15/06/2009 12:56

reggie Oh I just tried that code and it didn't work boo

blotted I am in Scotland (Falkirk area)

Mini Sorry you have had a bit of a tough time but glad to hear you are doing well now

Tummum · 15/06/2009 12:56

Sorry, waaay too many 'scared' words in my previous posts. Can you tell I'm scared!

SpangleMaker · 15/06/2009 13:02

Momino thanks for the new thread!

Belgian yes i'm on the pill Blotted mentioned, Cerazette. Strangely, (sorry if TMI) after taking it for about 10 days I had what appeared to be a light period but it's stopped now.

Was well and truly fed up last night. Yesterday we had what should have been a lovely day with DH's family taking our niece to a minature railway for her 2nd birthday but H was a nightmare, screaming/crying/wanting boob virtually all day (if I was embarrassed about bf-ing in front of ILs/in public, I'm over it now!) and all through the birthday tea and evening. And DH had something like a migrane, although he's never had one before - terrible headache and violently sick. Fortunately after a couple of hours asleep on BILs bed he was fine, but I was really worried. SIL tried to help with H but he wasn't having it, and he also screamed through most of the 45min journey home . Eventually we got him to sleep about 11pm and he slept through until 4.45am - yay - although DH woke me up at 3am complaining about the nightlight being too bright

It's funny, just lately H has been very difficult to take anywhere. No sooner is are we out doing whatever it is - shopping, with NCT girls etc - he gets all grumbly and cry-y. I'm hoping he'll settle down as I'm at the point now where I really want to be getting out and doing stuff.

Sorry for me, me, me post!

Oh - one last moan - the RAF have suddenly decided to use round here as a low fly zone

Momino · 15/06/2009 13:07

Hi all!
minimen, welcome back! try not to worry too much about DS2's weight gain - is he generally healthy and not losing?

contraception - DH is going for the snip next Wed as there was a cancellation. now that we've made the decision, I'm feeling broody again and I suppose it's natural to question ourselves. however, I know that I don't want to put my near-40 body through that again and, although I'd love to have a boy (i hear you, emmab'smom - don't really want to risk having a 4th girl), I'm quite happy with our 3 girls now.

Ses, happy about that weight gain!

belgian, glad you had a good camping trip.

grumpy, glad Maia's ok. what a relief! hope you can come to the Big Scream on the 1st.

uh -gotta stop there, have a yelling baby upstairs and need to put dd2 down for a nap as well.

Belgianchocolates · 15/06/2009 13:28

Somethng strange has happened to MN while I had my lunch. The lay out is all different. I was completely disorientated because my last post was near the top instead of the bottom [confused emoticon]

Tummum I think your GP was thinking G has got talipes. If it was a serious talipes I would like to think it would have been picked up by now in hospital, by your mw or hv. If it does need rectifying G will need a plaster cast etc... like your GP says. It doesn't tend to bother babies though and the sooner it's fixed the better and the easier it is to do. Try not to worry too much. G will be fine. I had talipes as a baby, btw. I had a brace apparently, but I can't remember a thing of it and I can walk and run normally for as long as I can remember

Spangle H sounds like my ds as a baby. He didn't like unfamiliar environments from when he was about 5-6 weeks. Whenever we went somewhere he was really unsettled. It sort of developed into him having a temp whenever we went away once he was a toddler. He's OK now with going to new places, but is still worried and nervous about it. Once we get there he's fine though. It could be that H might grow up to be a bit shy like my ds is.

sausagenmash · 15/06/2009 13:29

Aaaaaaaaarggggggggggh when will the crying STOP? I've tried feeding, bum change, putting her next to the washing machine, cuddles, leaving her to cry for a bit..... my head is banging, and some fuc*er is playing the bloody TUBA upstairs. Stupid flats. Can't wait to move to the house in a couple of weeks.

Is it too early for a LARGE gin and tonic????!!! Actually, maybe scrap the tonic....

Belgianchocolates · 15/06/2009 13:29

[even more confused emoticon] MN is back to normal now. It seemed to have logged me off earler for some reason.

Time to take some more pics now of stuff to put on eBay.

daizydoo · 15/06/2009 13:31

Tummum, just wanted to say hope your ds is okay and when I was a baby I had to have a plaster cast on to correct the position of my feet, for 6 weeks I think. Everything was fine after that and I've never had a problem since...

Tummum · 15/06/2009 13:42

Thanks for helpful comment about G's foot. I've calmed down now !! As my Mum said, I need to stop meeting the problem half way and wait to see what the Dr says before panicking.

Saus I think any time after midday is fine for starting on the gin, . And the Tuba??? How bizzare!
