look I abu and selfish here

SweetTalkinWoman · 22/07/2009 19:33

Bumps you are very brave - I'm always too scared to say anything on the AIBU threads. A tricky one that, though....

Not sure where the last few days have gone really. Had a terrible start to today, with Sam screaming inconsolably for an hour. Couldn't get through to NHS direct so took him to GP who said it was probably wind . He's been in a terrible state all day and still not right. How long can a bout of wind last? A lovely end to the day when DD told me she loves me, for the first time ever .

Dinky sorry about your rubbish nights . Like you say, sleep will be even more sacred when you are back at work. I just can't imagine thinking straight at the moment. I just hope my company's E&O insurance is sufficient! What is Danny waking for (as if you really know!!). Do you think he needs to start on solids? Hope you get a good one tonight.

dinkystinky · 22/07/2009 20:17

Bumps - totally understandable why you're worried for your two, especially given the governments decision not to give tamiflu to kids under 3 and all you've been through with O. You know how those AIBU boards are - you will almost always get people telling you you're BU and being quite rude about it. Am sure though that if they do get swine flu they wont get it from that little boy you passed in the supermarket.

STW - sorry Sam is suffering so, wind is a bugger. Definitely recommend massage (in clockwise direction) of tummy and warm baths to help ease the pain for him. Hope he's better now. Glad O brightened your day though - that's lovely. And no idea why Danny is waking up (every hour and a half again last night) - he's rolling lots and trying to crawl (legs going crazy, sticking bum up in air) during the day, has a bit of a cold and is throwing up after feeds abit - so it might be any of those. Am not weaning yet - though suspect he'd be quite keen on it given how he watches the rest of us eat so intently - as cranial osteopath has recommended delaying weaning for a bit as his stomach is still pretty irritable (reaction to his last set of jabs) and they're working on settling it down.

Morning. I dont know what to do here... DS is getting so much better sleeping during the day but the nights are still a mess and seem to be getting worse. He went down at 8 last night and then fed again at 11.30 but then settled down nicely at 12.30. He woke up at 2 fed for 15 mins and came off. When I tried to move him he wiggled so much he was sick and then wouldn't settle. I was walking with him until 3.30 when he fell asleep on my shoulder. He woke again at 4 fed but wriggling again during the feed so was sick again but I did manage to settle him at 5 and he slept till dd came in at 8!!

WTF is going on, Can someone help me please [arrrrrrrrrrrr] what is with all the wriggling???????? i am starting to dread going to bed now!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of out today as i am afraid another day in the house will send me over the edge.......

SweetTalkinWoman · 23/07/2009 09:32

Oh Bumps how horrible . It does sound like what we were going through with Sam. Since being on the Neocate formula and having the reflux tests, he's been 100x better. Is there anyway you can push for a reflux test? All that wriggling and general unsettledness is an indicator. Sam is on a medicine now called Omeprazole (alledgedly more effective than Ranitidine) and Domperidone (altho this seems to have no effect on the sick). Reflux happens in episodes throughout 24 hours and it may be that O's "time" is during the night?

Have to dash quickly but maybe the other ladies have some advice....

Calico1 · 23/07/2009 15:23

Bumps big sympathy with you - it sounds like my nights with Lilian.....totally shattering isn't it. L wriggles around all the time at night and rarely seems to be in deep sleep. I did notice a first tooth starting to poke through today so maybe that is what the problem is...but then she has been awful at nights for months . She is also totally 'unputdownable' during the day and will not tolerate even 5 mins in her bouncer or under the babygym - ggrrrrrrrrr!! I feel like a zombie.

Maybe it is the reflux as STW mentioned - L is just on Gaviscon for it and it does seem to be getting slowly better.

Dinky hope your little non-sleeper gets better too....

dinkystinky · 23/07/2009 20:53

Bumps - huge sympathies for your continued crap nights - and the same to you Calico and STW. The wriggling sounds like O is in some discomfort - definitely worth speaking to your doctor or HV about it as may be that you need the reflux meds reviewing. Is he still only really feeding at nights? May explain why his sleep is so bad then if he's triggering the reflux by sleeping then. Calico - well done to little L on getting her tooth through. Danny still teething like nobody's business here but no sign of any teeth breaking through yet - suspect he's going to be a perma-glacial-teether like his big brother.

And another crap night last night - Danny doesnt cry as such (unless he's rolled over and got him stuck against the cot sides as he did twice last night)- he just either grumbles for hours then cries or squeals - for hours! He knows how to settle himself to sleep as he does it for his naps and at the start of his night time sleep - but for some reason cant resettle himself when he wakes in the night. Grr.

Went to a mum & baby cinema screening today to watch the latest Harry Potter - Danny was overjoyed to be able to watch the big screen (I normally block his line of sight when DS1 is watching tv - is v amusing the positions Danny manoeuvres himself into to try to get to watch the screen though) and stayed awake the whole way through the film - most envious of all the other mums whose nippers were happily snoozing on their laps. Fingers crossed he's not dreaming of inferi up there now....

Am home alone with both boys for the next few days and nights as DH is off on a boys only climbing holiday in the Italian Alps. Fingers crossed for sunshine this weekend or am going to go stir crazy with the boys in the house this weekend...

Oh no - I killed the thread!

Hope everyone is out there enjoying the sporadic sunshine while they can rather than in quarantine with piggy flu...

hello.
still here.
I think the school holidays are to blame.
Hope everyone's well.
Got my iphone yesterday and put some lovely pics of the boys on fb if anyone wants to have a peek.

PinkTulips · 24/07/2009 15:43

[crawls in]

[coughs]

[collapses in heap]

cough has gone from bad to worse... may have to concede defeat soon and visit gp.... chest is quite sore now. aaron freaks out every time i have a coughing fit which isn't improving the situation much... i'm either choking myself trying to hold it in or coughing my lungs up with him having hysterics in my arms

kids are finished summer camp now and it's ds1's 3rd birthday on tuesday [blubbers] can't believe my baby is 3

PinkTulips · 24/07/2009 18:38

aaron had a banana

not sure how blw approved our methods were though

i had given him half a banana to play with in his highchair but he got absolutely hysterical because it was too slippy to hold so i mashed it into rough lumps and loaded it onto a spoon, sat him on my lap and let him pull the spoon towards his mouth and suck the banana off and munch it..... he was so happy he ate a whole banana (not counting what we both got covered in!). i'll have to go shopping to hunt out some more manageable foods for him tomorrow as he clearly is willing and able to eat, he just doesn't like hard work foods

mumoverseas · 24/07/2009 19:57

hello all, just back from the holiday from hell in France. Won't bore you all with the details but DH and I have agreed that hell will freeze over before we return there. That said, DD LOVED Disney and apparently she and daisy (duck)and Minnie (mouse) are best friends. DH was amazed at my sudden bursts of athletic ability when a character appeared which had me flying towards them knocking small children out of the way so that DD could get autographs and photos with all her 'best friends'

bumps sorry to read about all your health problems and your poor mum. I hope she is better now and out of hospital. Hope O improves and that you can carry on with your dairy products

PT hope you start to feel a bit better soon and also all the other unwell people, particularly littlesez, flu sounds scary but glad I is ok.

rosie number 5! Crazy woman

right, just a quick catchup, bloody knackered and off to bed as up early tomorrow for DS's charity parachute jump somewhere in Oxon for GOSH. x

dinkystinky · 24/07/2009 20:03

Hi MsLucy - be glad of the school holidays; it saved you an almighty soaking on the Heath at pushy mothers today. I had several inches of water in my trainers by the end and Danny was wet too by the end - despite being in a pushchair with a raincover on it!

Pink - go Aaron! Sorry your cough is getting worse though - definitely worth getting it checked out in case its turning into a chest infection.

OP posts:
mslucy · 24/07/2009 21:22

dinky I'm afriad I've rather given up on Pushy Mothers - not enough hours in the day.

Now have 20 min walk to playcentre (and then 20 min walk back) twice a day, which will keep me fit for free

bumpsnowjustplump · 25/07/2009 21:06

just a quick post took dd and ds to the zoo today. Had a lovely day and sat ds up in the p&T for the first time and he loved it...

Just eaten my body weight in food as we had a lovely indian take away..... I am so full and so fat now........ Hope it doesn't upset owen too much tomorrow....

Owen was better last night and has been really happy today so I hope that we are back on track now....

MOS sorry for holiday hell......

Hi to everyone else

swampfire · 26/07/2009 14:25

I just got my Ben 10 name!

Those of you with boys over the age of three will know what I am talking about.

SweetTalkinWoman · 26/07/2009 19:30

Congratulations Swampy!!! No idea what you're on about, but sounds exciting!!

It's very quite on here - was expecting to catch up on loads of new, but looks like you are all out having fun!

Nothing exciting to report here really. Sam's been whinging constantly for the last few days - think it's teeth so he's dosed up on Neurofen tonight. It's DD's 2nd night in a bed tonight - took 2 hours to go to sleep last night (after about 20 draggings back into bed) and she feel out twice. Today we bought one of those netting fold down sides and she's gone straight off tonight . Just got to pick our moment to remove it I guess.

I'm feeling rough today - shivering and aching so of course convince it'll be swine flu . Off now to wash bottles etc....

dinkystinky · 26/07/2009 20:02

MoS - sorry for your holiday from hell. Not sure I'd be up to Eurodisney but glad your DD2 enjoyed it. Hope all good with you now you're back in the UK.

Bumps - glad you had a lovely day at the zoo today. Did DD enjoy the new kidzone area - every time we go to the zoo I practically have to drag DS1 out of the paddling pool area there...

STW - get yourself to bed asap if you're feeling under the weather - there are so many colds and viruses doing the round at the moment (not helped by the crappy changeable weather) Re the bedguard - O is still really young (we didnt moved DS1 into a bed until he was over 2 and a half as if we did any earlier he'd definitely have been out every 30 seconds) so I'd keep the bedguard on for a while if I were you as she clearly needs it to feel secure in a bed. Hope she sleeps miles better tonight and lets you get a good night's sleep.

Swampy - nice Ben10 namechange! DS1 is obsessed with Ben10 - even though he's only seen half an episode once. Maybe MoS should become "Momnitrix" to match you

Have had a challenging weekend with the boys - Danny has a cold and is teething and gets furious whenever he sees anyone else eating food. He's also rolling over on his front all the time and fine there as long as you're there with him - if you leave him alone for any time though he starts yelling. And DS1 was acting up beautifully on Saturday - pooed his pants twice (he never does that normally), decided to eat bird poo even though he knew it was bird poo (makes me feel sick just remembering it), tantrums galore, etc - thank god he was better behaved today or I may have put him out with the recycling tonight. DH is due back really late tonight - I WILL be demanding a lie in and child free time next weekend.

mumoverseas · 26/07/2009 20:08

swampy/fire I have a boy aged over 3 and have absolutely no idea what you are talking about! Mind you, he is 16

STW hope you feel better soon and its just a nasty cold

dinky who on earth is momnitrix? You do know I'm going to have to watch this now don't you to see who this is
bird poo! yuk! what is it with your family and birds?

very long day today. Took DD2 to see 'milkshake live tour' in Woking. Took nearly 1 1/2 hours to get there and just made it ok and she loved it although has been a little cow since she got back. Doesn't help that she is playing up badly as DH is going back to KSA tomorrow am! I'm starting to panic as to how I'm going to cope being a single parent again for 5 week

any news of another meet up before I return to the land of sand?

mumoverseas · 26/07/2009 20:10

ooh, meant to say, DS1 did his parachute jump yesterday and loved it although think he was feeling a little sick before hand.
He raised a total of £1,213.03 for Great Ormond Street Children's hospital in my mum's memory. Very proud

dinkystinky · 26/07/2009 20:13

MoS - just a mixture of mum and Omnitrix (Ben10's special watch gadget thing that turns him into several different alien personas). Really not worth watching Ben10 just for it - I sense you have a world of HighSchoolMusical heading in your direction with DD2 in your life anyway and that will probably be enough for any mum to have to cope with.

No idea what it is with my family and birds - particularly as I hate the bloody things!

OP posts:
bumpsnowjustplump · 26/07/2009 21:21

DS woke every two hours last night again so I am going to start weaning him tomorrow. He is just over 5 months and keeps trying to pinch food so I think he is ready anyway. Wont do dairy until over 6 months just to be on the safe side....

swampfire · 26/07/2009 21:25

Ben 10! This is my life.

dinkystinky · 26/07/2009 21:45

That's fantastic MoS - you must be very proud of DS1!

Bumps - I hope the weaning helps. Might it be worth speaking with your HV to check if there is anything other than dairy you might want to avoid given his reflux/poss allergies? Am tempted to start weaning Danny as he gets so frustrated when everyone is eating but he isnt so despite the osteopath saying not to wean him till 6 months I let him have a suck on a piece of pineapple and a piece of pear this evening while DS1 and I had our dinner and he was delighted - pretty sure nothing other than juices went in as he doesnt have the hand eye co-ordination down yet to hold the stuff himself for very long, so going to hold off on weaning proper for a couple of weeks. I've taken to feeding him every couple of hours during the day in the hope that it'll help him sleep abit longer at nights - fingers crossed.

Cocodrillo · 27/07/2009 08:13

all 3 kids now have swine flu but we are coping so far... doesn't seem as bad as the hype would have you believe... don't get me started on the subject of tamiflu though... why give capsules to infants - especially infants with sore throats!
