Well ds had me up 5 times last night and I am so tired but dp needs a lie in as he "works his fingers to the bone all week providing for this family".... blah blah blah blah blah (to be fair he does do very long hours but if it wasn't for me there would be no family so bugger off.)

still exclusivly bf here but i have one of the youngest and he isn't even 5 months yet....

this is the 5th day of me eating dairy and as yet no reaction from ds so thats good...

DS has droped from the 75th to the 25th centile now, just hope solids (when they come) bulk him back up again....

Tried GF yesterday DS found it very funny and did nothing that he was supposed to do... Cheeky little monkey....

Calico1 · 18/07/2009 14:09

bumps - yes similar night here too. I was up about 5 times with Lilian. She has a stinking cold and has virtually lost her voice, so I can't really blame her for not sleeping too well. Both DCs fast asleep now - tis bliss!

Thanks Dinky and MS for your Suffolk holiday suggestions. Must try to book something this weekend before DH changes his mind.

Not tried Lilian with any food yet apart from a bit of banana which she spat out....she gets very excited watching me cook DS's dinner though - her little legs start kicking like crazy when I dish it up for him, so perhaps she'll develop DS's tomato ketchup addiction soon.

Went to Whipsnade Zoo yesterday - it poured and we all got soaked but it was good fun. I asked DS what he liked best about the zoo, expecting him to say the tigers or the giraffes, but he said 'the puddles'. So could have saved myself £20 and let him play in rain in the garden instead

littleboyblue · 18/07/2009 19:50

Must have been a feb baby thing again re last night. Luke had a shocker of a night too.
MS I fb'ed you about baby walker and how we might be able to pop over to you next week as we'll be in Lowestoft, so depending on how far you are from there.......

nkweto · 18/07/2009 21:20

hey all...

i can't keep up with all the messages !! though i did catch one about westfield and peppa pig on the 27th !! must look that up as peppa is DS's favourite at the moment...

Dinky..yes I am very close to westfield if you are ever in that directions..

STW.. happy bday for O..lurvely fb photos by the way, very cute..

hope you all get some more sleep tonight.. LO's are in bed..but dont seem v.well.. i hope it is teething/hayfever related and nothing more sinister.. DH is away for a conference this week.. so am dreading the whole nursery run/work day/bed time hour routine by myself!!

Very impressed with the weaning action... DD has had a bit of courgette and carrot mix and some banana.. really need to start weaning her properly though:
a) because she wants to eat when we do
b) nursery is harassing me about feeding her

going to bed now..i am TIRED !!!!!!

nkweto · 18/07/2009 21:31

oh bugger 27th is a monday..should have joined the kidsclub BEFORE maternity leave... silly me!

Cocodrillo · 18/07/2009 21:40

DD2 is obsessed with Peppa, totally obsessed.

Swampie, am intrigued re familiarity. Maybe is just my FB pic?

swampster · 18/07/2009 21:47

all I meant was it wasn't like meeting someone I hadn't met before - felt comfortable to the point of being offhand like you do with old friends.

Cocodrillo · 18/07/2009 22:07

I am planning many more trips to the fab sandpit with the DCs, we should meet up again. I will bring my own spade this time. Although you are soon off on your travels? [emvy]

Cocodrillo · 18/07/2009 22:08

gr, i mean

swampster · 18/07/2009 22:38

Probably around until mid-August unless we skip off a week earlier. Will be in the pit, or in the paddling pool, or scoffing ice-cream at the café.

Was at the Lambeth Country Show today - once a year Brockwell Park transformed, complete with sheep-shearing, owls and bouncy castles - BRILLIANT! It is on tomorrow too but rain is promised.

PinkTulips · 19/07/2009 11:31

[cough] [cough]

still hacking up my lungs here, resorted to some cough syrup this morning as i'm in agny (sorry aaron but it didn't specifucally mention bf-ing on the box so might be ok )

poor ds1 seems to have had it drop into his lungs too but so far doesn't seem overly phased by it, dd is fine, dp is doping himself to the eyeballs and pretending to be sick despite the fact i have yet to hear him cough (because god forbid he might have to pick up the slack if i was sick and he was well )

on top of that our washing machine packed it in on thursday, i have mountains of washing building up and although the landlady is being sound and letting us pick a new one and just take it out of the rent, sadly we can't afford it til friday... grr, and lord knows how long for delivery after that!

sorry... self indulgant whinge over and done with

am off to fll a duvet cover with laundry and pray the laundrette is open on a sunday

dinkystinky · 19/07/2009 20:09

Evening all. Much sympathy to those with the ill/non-sleeping children - Danny has a cold too and was terrible with sleep on Friday and even worse last night (awake basically every 45 minutes) when we were at MiL's in Brighton (and basically screamed the whole drive home when he'd normally sleep). Still at least for once DS1 doesnt have a cold yet...

Pink - sorry totally missed you're still suffering - I hate that cough lurgy. I have only just stopped coughing up gunk now, about 4 or 5 weeks after contracting that lurgy. Really hope you and DS1 kick it soon.

Nkweto - am sending you best wishes and industrial quantities of gin to help you get through next week! Sorry you wont get to see Peppa at Westfield but if you are around there at any point do join the kids club for DS1 as they give a little goodie bag which has a george pig in it. DS1 was over the moon at that. And will try to get in touch via FB if we're going to be over Westfield way another weekend (am sure we will at some point) so maybe we can catch up for a coffee.

Swampster - where are you off to on your travels? [nosey emoticon]

SweetTalkinWoman · 19/07/2009 20:19

PT my heart goes out to you re the washing machine. We were without for 5 days so the laundrette saw lots of business from us. Have you checked the filter for a kirby grip - that was the offending item for us! Hope you're feeling a bit better?

A full-on weekend here. Went to the Claygate village fair and DD discovered an addiction for fairground rides. We couldn't get her off without mega-tantrums. Today we went to Mercedes-Benz World which was fun for a wet and windy day. We all sat in some posh, expensive cars ... then drove home in our modest Ford Focus !

Nkweto tnx re photos!! Peppa Pig has taken over our life so I might have to look into the Westfield appearance!

Off now because DH microwaving cooking dinner tonight. I ache after my 4 mile run this morning....

PinkTulips · 19/07/2009 21:13

thanks STW... unfortunately i'm adept at filter checking at this stage... no problems there. it seems to be the motor again, we had the exact same model when we first moved in and the motor died after a week whirlpool man came and said it wasn't worth fixing and signed off for a replacement. with that in mind the landlady decided there was no point wasting money on a repair man, she's happy for us to pick up a new one.... so we'lll finally have a proper big washing machine, not a stoopid washer dryer that doesn't wash or dry

thanks for the sympathy dinky... went to my parents house with the kids for some spoiling and dp seems to be in apologetic humour tonight after being an arse this morning so am feeling a bit perkier, although still hacking up multicoloured gunk (sorry, far tmi there )

oooggs · 20/07/2009 14:14

I haven't caught up - will do later, but washing machines ours died the day I came home from hospital with Luke (he was 2 days old) and it took 8 weeks to get our new one delivered.

Mum did alot of washing but it is fab now it is here

bumpsnowjustplump · 20/07/2009 15:40

afternoon all. I have been really ill! Last night I went to bed with owen as I felt really achey and woke up at midnight feeling full of flu and with a temp of 39.9. Crapped myself that I might have swine flu and might pass it to ds and dd. Tried to call nhs direct for advice but couldnt get through so went back to bed.

Woke up this morning and me left boob is bright red and so so sore. Went to gp and have another dose of ab for mastitis. It is really bad this time.... arghhhhhhhhhh I feel so ill and so sorry for myself...

swampster · 20/07/2009 17:12

(((((envelops bumps in ample bosom)))))

PinkTulips · 20/07/2009 17:15

snap bumps.... fell into bed at 9 last night fully dressed and feeling like poo then had a raging fever within a few hours.

poor aaron developed a fever at 2am and although both our fevers broke this morning we're feeling pretty horrid... poor aaron is snotty and puking and i feel like i've been hit by a bus.... and i'm still coughing!

hope your mastitis clears quickly, feed lots from the sore boob, you can use neurofen to make it bearable {{{hugs}}}

littleboyblue · 20/07/2009 17:50

bumps Hope it clears up soon, doesn't sound nice at all!
PT sorry you're still rough too. Hope you all get better soon.

I really yelled at ds1 today. I mean really loud and bad. He cried. He had been winding me up all day (not on purpose obviously, but sometimes hard to remember that at the time isn't it), so I had gone in to check on Luke when he woke 20 mins after had settled for his long nap, and ds1 followed me yelling "bubba, where bubba?" so I asked him to go back to living room, he carried on yelling, so I shouted "Will you just get out. NOW" and he cried
I hate shouting, and just yesterday I'd told dp that I'd rather he didn't shout at ds1 at every opportunity, that I think there are more positive and effective ways of discipline etc etc. I'm an awful person.
I know I'm not really, but he had pushed me to my limit.....need to go and sit in a room on my own for half an hour.

littleboyblue · 21/07/2009 02:29

We're off to SIL's in the morning for a week and I doubt I'll be able to get on for the week.

Hope you all have good weeks, the ill get better.

Will be back next tuesday, so 'see' you all then. xxx

littlesez · 21/07/2009 07:38

re swine flu, our family all have it! except Isobella yeah for the (.)(.) milk had an awful weekend and missed robs grans funeral because of it

good news is got tamiflu which is good stuff, its spreading like wild fire so dont worry if anyone gets it, just phone the docs they'll sort you out.

Apart from the pig disease were ok. Isobella is just a delight, such a "good" baby! Yes I often wanted to answer that question with sarcasm but instaed i just bite my tongue and say yes

Re smoking I gave up after several years of trying last march 21st and never looked back. Used allen carr easyway book for pyschological stuff and Champix for the physical cravings. I found NRT just prolonged the agony by keeping me addicted to nicotine

Re routine Nothing here except bedtime is 7ish every night

xxx

elkiedee · 21/07/2009 10:08

PT, sorry to hear re washing machine and health troubles. littlesez, hope you get better quickly.

My mum has offered to come and help out should any of us get swine flue, problem is that she's away quite a lot of the next few weeks, if it happens I fear it will be when she's away or when we're going up to see her anyway.

PinkTulips · 21/07/2009 11:04

my mom is trying to convince me i have the pig disease.... not getting far with explaining to her that a cough for 3 weeks with no other symptoms isn't pig flu... she just keeps rabbiting on about 'we live in such dangerous times healthwise' i'm fairly sure anyone living in the time of the plague would be willing to dispute that point with her

hope you're on the mend soon littlesez, it's rotton having flu with a young baby, hope dh is pulling his weight

herbgarden · 21/07/2009 18:05

Blimey I haven't been on here for ages -

Sorry some of you are feeling rotten - it seems that no-one can escape some sort of flu or another can they. This damp wet weather doesn't help does it.

I'v been trying to get my final jobs done on my days with just DD at home ready for the grand return to work a week on Monday (it seems as though I'm going back to work although I'm told that the matter is "still under consideration" so I may well still have my Monday/Tuesday's to myself come October - let's wait and see).

Nothing exciting happening here - all our toddler events are coming to an end for the summer break (why do they do that to us !!) so we're all now hanging round each others houses and letting the ankle biters trash them. Only way really.

DD has finally been weighed. She's 26 weeks and is a 16lber now and between 25th and 50th centile which is better considering she didn't quite have one when she was born and she's got lovely squishy chubby bits. We're weaning mush again (she only had a tiny soft and swallowable lump of banana in the pot the other day and nearly gagged) and so far she's not thrown up any thing after the first days huge projectile vom over everything. Anyway, she gets pretty excited when she sees that spoon coming and tries to grab the bowl. She starts nursery a week on Monday and went in for her first settling in session today - all seemed to go ok and it wasn't quite as hard to leave her as it was for DS (being my PFB).

Right I have two screaming children here hungry for food.....

dinkystinky · 21/07/2009 20:20

Bumps and LittleSez - hope you both feel alot better really soon. LBB - have a great time in Suffolk. Herb - sounds promising that you've still got a job, for now at least - hopefully things will start picking up again in the run up to christmas as is normally the case. Hope your DD settles in well at nursery - though she sounds like such a chilled little lady am sure she'll be fine!

Danny was awake every hour or so last night again so am on my knees again today. He definitely has a cold though was throwing up much less today so fingers crossed he'll start to be on the mend soon. Am really hoping his night sleep improves again and moves back to only 2 wakes a night (or even less!) before September or am going to be in pieces when I go back to work.
