A brand new sparkling thread to mark the four month mark for our bubs

LOL at reptile convention, MsLucy, when's your train. We're about to set out to Ilkley for a few days.

Dinky, hope all feel better soon, I heard one of your sons wasn't well yesterday.

Haven't read all of thread because too busy packing. Now have to turn computer off. Easier said than done as power completely inaccessible and computer very annoying.

dinkystinky · 27/06/2009 09:53

Morning all. MoS - sorry you had a crap night - am glad the reinforcements will be there soon and it will be great for DD2 to be able to talk to DH via webcam. We have one we use for DH and DS1 to talk to his sister in the states via skype - its great. And you'll still be able to b/f while typing - just point the webcam at DD2 somewhere else in the room. Hope DS1 manages to help you sort out the Phil & Ted.

Nkweto, Herb - thanks guys. Managed to get DS1 to take the ventolin inhaler last night and I think it did help him. If he keeps refusing it will speak to GP about getting the syrup. I have been wondering if he's got asthma or hayfever - particularly as DH has both - so will look into what I need to do to get his allergies tested. Hope you enjoy your weekend Nkweto - try not to think about Monday too much.

Elkie - have a great time in Ilkley.

LBB - glad you enjoyed the hen do. Hope you get a good kip in this morning.

DH has taken DS1 (who thank god is in a much better mood today) to town to go pick up a new rug for our lounge - as Danny is now rolling we think it'd probably be a good idea to get a more cushioned rug so he doesnt concuss himself each time he rolls over so its just Danny - who is really suffering - and me chilling this morning. Is anyone else's little one wanting to start the day at 5 only to be totally shattered by 7 and needing a two hour nap to sort themselves out? Not entirely sure what I can do to break the cycle with Danny on this one, particularly as I think he needs to get some good quality sleep in to help him kick his lurgy. Ho hum...

And they're gone! Yay, better get back into bed now

mumoverseas · 27/06/2009 10:39

yay, I have a working P & T! My lovely neighbour popped round and did it. We'd talked about it a few days ago when a few of us were talking outside our houses. He did say he'd come round Saturday am but I really didn't believe him. It took him 45 mins so god knows how many weeks it would have taken me. Knowing my patience with assembling things, I'd have probably beaten it to a pulp with a hammer before I'd finished
Hopefully we figured it out ok, putting the double kit on the front (is that right girls?) as H is too small to sit up? It seems ok at the moment (struggled to work out folding it though so will be putting it into the car upright, thankfully I have a big car!)

dinky, you may be right about DS having asthma and hayfever. DH has really bad asthma and our dr in KSA said that it tends to be hereditary. Best you get him checked out soon. Hope you all feel better soon.

LBB what is a nap?

nkweto have a lovely weekend, can't believe you are going back to work!

bumpsnowjustplump · 27/06/2009 11:34

MOS there are two little black bits on it I think they say push and have arrows on them. Push and turn these and it will collapse. Make sure the front wheel bar is on the outside and fold until it clips in place. DO NOT FOLD IT UP WITH DOUBLES KIT ATTACHED OR WITH THE FRONT WHEEL BAR FACING IN OR YOU WILL NEVER GET IT OPEN AGAIN!!! I know I did this !!! If you fancy a trip into kent at any time I can show you!!

Heavy baby has to be at the front all the time so harrison on main seat reclined at this age and grace on doubles kit at the front.....

mumoverseas · 27/06/2009 14:59

hi, thanks for that bumps. A bit baffled though. Does that mean I can't fold it whilst double kit on? My neighbour had a trial run at folding it with the kit on.
There is also a bit left over (isn't there always!) a bar and he said that the bar is to go on later when the doubles kit is at the back for H? Is that right?

Might do a bluewater trip next week as DS1 will be here and no doubt will want to go to the apple shop and hint for a new laptop as the last one (less than 18 months old!) broke!

Just picked up DD1 from boarding school for weekend and stop off on way back at a little farm that has a nice tea garden and animals etc. The girls had hot dogs and I was really good and had a chicken & veg kebab and salad.
Then, bloody DH phoned, I said where I was and he said 'bet you had a cream tea'. I hadn't, but that set me thinking..........
needless to say, had to have one then but DD1 and I shared it so damage limitation

Cocodrillo · 27/06/2009 17:22

I have never folded our P and T, but DH says you have to take the seat out the back before folding. Acc to him it is easy .

DS rolled from back to front twice today for the first time! Woo hoo! That's the earliest any of mine have rolled. Go go DS.

We have had a lovely day in the pub garden with the kids and DH's bro. It has a playground so they amused themselves (well, ish, you know), and DS watched, and we had some nice food and wine.

Did my power-walking class before lunch. Lovely FAST walk in the woods etc. Gotta scare that fat ass and belly into submission.

SweetTalkinWoman · 27/06/2009 20:10

Mmmmm, cream tea ..... MOS that's one of my weaknesses. Hope you enjoyed.

The P&T sounds all rather complicated! My friends seem to love them though.

Elkiedee have a lovely time in Ilkley - my uncle lives there and my Mum grew up in the area. We were there in November - it's lovely.

Nkweto and Dinky - the numerous allergy tests that Sam had on his blood last week also included "Inhalant Allergens" which would show up any hayfever type allergies. Might be worth trying to get a similar thing done for your DS's?

Am at all the rolling going on! Must admit I rarely put Sam on his tummy as he seems so uncomfortable, but I think I must persist! He's sitting up quite well, so I'm hoping this will help his lopsided head.

We got totally caught out in the garden this afternoon. Just enjoying the sunshine with the paddling pool etc when we had a HUGE hailstorm that lasted for ages. There were lumps of ice all over the lawn - it was really weird . Got to go out there now to clear up the debris.

hope you are all having good Saturday nights. Am in on my own tonight so will be surfing the TV for somethign suitably trashy to watch that I wouldn't when DH is around. tomorrow we have a christening in Romsey Abbey so I'm looking forward to getting a bit dressed up. Just tried on my white trousers, but it all looks a bit "Muriel's Wedding" (Think the white jumpsuit ).

littleboyblue · 27/06/2009 20:28

STW I wouldn't worry too much. Jacob hated being on his front, so I just didn't put him on his belly and he did things when he was ready to. He didn't roll much.

SweetTalkinWoman · 27/06/2009 20:37

Herbgarden - did you watch Grey's Anatomy yet? What did you think?

Bugger, sam crying again - off I go!

SweetTalkinWoman · 27/06/2009 20:38

Thanks LBB - yes, they all get there in the end.

Right, it's getting more persistant....

oooggs · 27/06/2009 20:48

how am I ever meant to keep up with you lot? - took me a while to find you

Blimey this parenting lark is tiring.

Dts no longer sleep during the day, when they napped during the day they thought that 9pm was bedtime - NOT - so now no rest for me sleep and a normal bedtime.

Luke is rolling - sleeps fantatsic in cot during the day (non of the others have!) even though it is on his tummy goes to bed well, wakes once but then like to start the day around 5am

ds1 is exhausting with an inquisitive mind.

I will try hard to keep up and make personal from now on!! and nose on people profiles - hope they are all up to date

And by now you are probably thinking who is that dozy, cheeky, nosey mare

Cocodrillo · 27/06/2009 21:15

ooogs, dd2 would only sleep on her tummy when she was a baby.

Cocodrillo · 27/06/2009 21:15

and hello , good to see you back

littleboyblue · 28/06/2009 00:52

oooggs Hello you dozy, cheeky, nosey mare
Glad Luke is doing ok. My ds1 has just come out of a phase of not napping during the day, now he can, but you have to catch him at exactly the right moment, if you miss it, we're all f'ed for the rest of the day!

Have just woken to hear ds1 screaming his head off, so am now sat in living room with him while he tries to fall asleep on sofa. I hope to then carry him back to his bed......

herbgarden · 28/06/2009 07:17

Morning....
STW watched last one of Greys - really shocked at the George thing...I reckon one will be dead and one won't. We'll have to wait now. I love Greys.

MOS - I always take the back seat out before folding but it does clip out easily - prob takes a bit of practice. I had a big fat afternoon tea at a lovely London Hotel yesterday afternoon with 17 other ladies at a very civilised hen afternoon.....LBB No Ann Summers or strippers here In fact there wasn't much rowdiness at all - a few glasses of champagne and a lovely afternoon with some very lovely ladies. I got home about 11 last night after having a bite to eat with my sis (you 'd have thought by then I couldn't have managed anything else wouldn't you)...

DH a bit grumpy after looking after the kids yesterday afternoon so I'm leaving him in bed for a while in the hope that he's in a better mood later.

DD is a pickle with the rolling - she gets over and then gets stuck so I'm constantly popping her back again. She'll get there some day ! I caught DS rolling her round the carpet like a sausage roll the other day as he claimed she liked it

Dinky - can you bear to wake Danny up and just give him a mini snooze if he wakes at 5am and won't go back to sleep to push him through a bit to allow him a bigger sleep later?. I presume you've tried the feeding and putting back at that time so that he might go back to sleep but seems he might think it's party time then ??? what a bummer if he is. 5am is a killer.

Not sure what we're up to today but I've already filled the paddling pool as I think it might be a scorcher....

littleboyblue · 28/06/2009 07:32

herb The hen do sounds lovely.
Not looking forward to next week, they say it's going to be in the 80's!!!!!!!
Poor dp is on nights too next week so might have to go and buy a few very large fans today. I did tell him to buy some in the winter when the prices were lower, but does he listen? Does he f**k!
I've also left him in bed although it was my turn for a lay-in. We were both up with the boys at some point, but by the time he had to get up, I think he thought that I hadn't as he slept through the earlier screams iyswim.
I'm moving Luke into Jacob's room today. Now that Luke naps in his cot, he mostly groans himself to sleep which will disturb dp even more through the days. Think it's a bit cooler in Jacob's room anyway.

mumoverseas · 28/06/2009 08:20

OMG, temperatures in the 80's! that is so cool LBB, you'd die in Saudi

Had a bloody awful night. Took DCs 2 - 4 to DCs 1 & 2 old school BBQ. DD2 had a whale of a time running around the playing fields but then was overtired and only got her asleep and in her bed at around 11pm and was worn out. Little minx climbed in with me (and H) at around 1am and then around every hour on the hour woke us up. DD1s alarm clock (for some unknown reason) went off at 5.55am (funnily enough the exact time DS was landing at Heathrow) and then he phoned eventually at around 7.30 to say he'd just got on the bus so was obviously either delayed or having a bacon buttie at the airport. Just off to pick him up from LGW as he very kindly decided to get the bus.

Still p*ed with the P & T. Tried to take it to the BBQ last night but couldn't fold the sodding thing. I can't believe you need to take ths back seat out? It doesn't say that in the instructions. Tried for ages to fold and was worried I'd broken something as the switches either side where I assume you fold are sort of spinning around now? Surely its not that easy to break a £400 pram

bumps, where are you???? Need your help. I know your P & T is set up like mine with the double seat on front and O lying down at the back (herby, sounds like you have second seat at back instead?) bumps, you managed to fold it without taking anything out (apart from O of course) the other day so should I be able to fold it without doing anything else??????
Even tried putting the dam thing in the car whilst open and couldn't get it in. You'd have thought it would have fit in a volvo
Am hoping when DS is back and rested he'll have a look

herby the civilised hen do sounds lovely

LBB, surely you should know by now then men never listen?

oogs welcome back nosy mare

dinky hope all the stinkydinky household colds clear up in the hot weather

bumpsnowjustplump · 28/06/2009 08:48

MOS you can fold it as long as there is nothing in it. are you there i can talk you through it on the phone if you like.....

bumpsnowjustplump · 28/06/2009 08:50

Oh and a quick question for you all. DS is now rolling all the time he has gone from back to tummy and onto back etc from one end of the room to the other all morning. He has been doing this a lot and I am worried he will fall out of his mosses basket, is it time to move him now?

herbgarden · 28/06/2009 09:40

Sorry MOS I mustn't laugh but I did chuckle at the thought of you putting the P&T's in the car without it being folded.

I think I'm with you now - you didn't have the back seat attached did you when you tried to fold it but presumably clipped on the front bit for toddler to sit in and the back bit was in lay flat ? I think you might have to still unclip the seat. With the levers at the side - mine pull out either side ?
See if that works.
Not sure if I'm ready for the heat !! I'm sooo glad I don't live in London though - the tube was horrible yesterday

mumoverseas · 28/06/2009 11:40

damm stupid thing. jetlagged ds1 is looking at it now.Got confused as someone had said about taking the seat off before folding but I gather that is only if you have the additional seat underneath whereas at the moment we have it at the front. Think there is also supposed to be a bit leftover (the bar) which goes on once additional seat at bottom?
bumps, not got your number, can you text me it.

bumps wow at Owen's rolling. Wouldn't have thought he could actually roll out of the basket though could he?

yay, DS has worked out how to fold. I was fiddling with the right buttons but not turning them

littleboyblue · 28/06/2009 15:17

mos I would die in Saudi, in all seriousness i really think I would. Don't know how you do it
bumps Personally I would move them from the moses basket once they can move like that into something more sturdy.
mos All that with the P&T's sounds like a right old nightmare!
HeheheLuke's laying on his belly watching Eastenders! hahahaha.

I've just moved Luke's cot into ds1's room. I know he's not yet 6 months, but if anything was going to happen, it would have done by now? He'll be fine in the other room won't he? I'm hoping he'll be better without being woken everytime I roll over. Although now dp thinks he's gonna get lucky.........

dinkystinky · 28/06/2009 15:34

Afternoon all. Welcome back to the thread Oooggs - good to hear all is well with Luke. Bumps - I'd move Owen to a cot now as if he's rolling everywhere while awake it wont be long till he starts rolling over at nights too. MoS - glad your DS1 arrived safely and sussed out the P&T folding mechanism. LBB - Danny moved into his own room a couple of weeks back and its been fine - apart from the middle of the night parties and 5am wake ups (Herb - I do try to feed and put him back to sleep but it takes over an hour to convince him to go back to sleep then - and then we both get woken by DS1 hollering that its time to get up). We've had the fans going in both boys rooms for the past week as its around 28 degrees in their rooms already (both rooms get the afternoon sun in copious amounts) at nights (this is with the curtains drawn and windows open virtually all day) - dread to think quite how hot their rooms are going to get next week when its over 30 degrees outside.

Its our wedding anniversary today (well our english wedding anniversary - we also have a hindu wedding anniversary in July) so we're off out this evening to local restaurant to have a meal and listen to some jazz. Fortunately its literally just round the corner from our house so if there are any problems with our grott little boys our nanny can call me back at a moments notice.

OP posts:
herbgarden · 28/06/2009 17:02

Happy Anniversary !!....

MOS really glad you've finally mastered it. I've finally managed to replace inner tube and tyre pump up and put back. We both now have fully functioning P&T's Hurray!

We've just been pottering round today - with this warm muggy weather I wasn't keen on racing round with the kids in the car. DS has been jumping in and out of the paddling pool, I've finally cleared the last of our moving in boxes (9 months later !) from our garage and put them upstairs ready for the DH to put in the loft - trouble is that DS always wants to go up with him so we have to distract him with something else first. It's a pain.

DD had her first door bouncer experience today. As she squealed with delight whilst she was bobbing around I suspect she enjoyed it.

I do love the warm sunshine but not keen on the 30 degrees of next week. I've know 3 very heavily pregnant women at the moment - 2 of whom were also pregnant the hot summer of '06. Hope it doesn't bring on early babies !

Right, off to BBQ some chicken !
