Dinky sorry about rubbish night, and colds and tantrums - hope things have improved as the day's gone on.

MOS your posts about the P+T are making me laugh! Sorry.

Also the strangling post, LBB. Sorry again.

Re the fireman, it sounds like he's advocating sealing yourself in an airproof box to die? Personally I would scream and shout out of the window to try and attract people's attention and chuck the kids down to them, as well as calling fire brigade. Hopefully not a situation you or I will encounter in RL.

MOS, my DD2 had always napped for 2 hours at lunch and then overnight at 18 months old she just STOPPED! That was a horrible surprise.

mumoverseas · 26/06/2009 15:35

both beasts asleep (yay!) so talking another look at P & T instructions. Slightly confused however at the following wording :
'warning buggy is not suitable for running, skating, horse riding, water skiing, acrobatics or similar activities. It is not a flotation device'
WTF! Do they think that us mums are completely stupid? who in their right mind would take their baby waterskiing!

coco stop bloody laughing woman and get your arse over here with a screwdriver and help! A few of my friends DC suddenly stopped the naps but DD still needs one. The last two days she didn't have her normal one and was a complete witch later in the evening. She fell asleep on the train home on Wednesday and got hysterical when I woke her to get off the train. Was sorely tempted to leave her, particularly when I realised she didn't know her surname or address

dinky sorry about your crap night (I've just got used to them now on my own) and the colds.

dinkystinky · 26/06/2009 16:32

Afternoon all. Danny seems a little less grotty after some sleep (for both him and me) but DS1 is still being a nightmare today. Am thinking of soldering him to the naughty step! I suspect its because he's really tired (his cold - he is patient zero in our house - is really taking it out of him as he's up coughing all night long) but knowing that doesnt make it any more fun to be around him today. And MoS - he's like your DD2 - he's a really early riser who needs his lunchtime sleep or he is bouncing off the walls in the evenings but he's going through a stage of fighting off his lunchtime nap..ho hum..

LBB - that fire talk sounds interesting. I'd be an instinctive window chucker too.

MsLucy - sorry to hear you've had a manic week. A reptile convention??? Had no idea such things even existed - particularly in Doncaster... Hope you do manage to get some downtime over the weekend somehow.

MoS - at the P&T instructions... Glad you got them both down for an afternoon nap to give you a few moments to yourself. It does rather feel like I'm having to deal with the rubbish nights by myself here at the moment too despite having DH in the house...

Rosie - welcome back. Hope Milo is better today.

Pink - hope you have a safe flight and a brilliant time at the wedding.

mslucy · 26/06/2009 17:13

the fireman is right - fire needs air to spread and shutting the door contains it.

I'd be a jumper too though...

dinky - sorry to hear about coughs. DS1 has been coughing lots as well.
We have swine flu in our area, so I hope it's nothing serious

herbgarden · 26/06/2009 17:15

Hello
I've had a BAD DAY.....

Sorry.

Car trouble - won't go into it at the moment but I could kill my DH.

To round it off my boss has phoned to tell me that although I'm not being made redundant I am taking a 20% paycut but no reduction in hours. She's a witch. I know it makes business sense but she's still a witch.

Dinky sorry you've had a rough night and bad day with your two. Shall we send our DS's off together to be a pain for a few days ?!...hope you get a better night tonight. Medicate maybe .

LBB I would so not be in control in a panic fire situation so would no doubt lose it and do the wrong thing.

MOS I had P&T woes this morning. DH pumped up a flat tyre last night. Came down this morning and it's flat. He appears to have broken the cycle pump. I then try to change the inner tube using repair kit. Can't pump up the sodding thing. Then have to change over connectors for buggy board to M&P's rather than Maclaren.....lots of swearing. You have my sympathy. I've left all the stuff over the garage floor. DH will go made when he gets in .

DS stopped napping at about 26 months when he started waking at 5am and I gradually cut it down - I figured I'd rather have an exra 1.5 hours in the morning and he now watches cbeebies and has quiet time. He doesn't tend to bother me much during that time so it's not so bad now....you sort of get used to it. He will sleep though if we go out in the car (and quite deeply). I did used to love that time when he slept upstairs for a couple of hours.

herbgarden · 26/06/2009 17:17

PS DINKY the cough is what we had to call the doctor out for when we were on holiday....it was really horrible and DS also sounded wheezy - doctor prescribed anti-b's but also ventolin syrup which I thought was interesting. It really helped though.

dinkystinky · 26/06/2009 17:28

Hi Herb - sorry you've had a craptastic day. Saw GP yesterday re DS1's cough and he prescribed a ventolin inhaler - which would be great if I could persuade DS1 to use it (the cause of some tantrums this morning). Really rubbish about your paycut - hope your DH'd transfer to post abroad comes throug so you can take great pleasure in telling your boss what to do with her paycut...

SweetTalkinWoman · 26/06/2009 17:32

I'm dreading the day DD gives up her afternoon nap! She's two next month and will regularly sleep for 2 hours at about 12.30pm. It's been a life saver while I was preggers and during Sam's early months, but she's now not sleeping until later in the evening, so we're limiting the nap. She's very happy in her cot chatting to her toys in the evening - bless!

I think I would be another window chucker here in the event of a fire. LOL at the fireman's dinner comments LBB! Dinky what a nightmare last night - really hope you get a better one tonight. Also hope DS1 is feeling a bit better?

MOS the P&T instructions sound a bit complicated! And what about the horse riding warning .

PT so what allergies etc do you have to deal with? Have your DC's grown out of any of them?

Just watched the double finale of Grey's Anatomy and am and . IS there going to be another series does anyone know?

Better dash as Sam has just chundered all over himself. Seems very happy about it though....

herbgarden · 26/06/2009 17:47

I saved the last episode of Greys until tonight so don't tell me !!......Recorded on Living +1 so watched Private Practice whilst feeding DD late and then decided I was just too tired to sit through any more telly....

mumoverseas · 26/06/2009 17:55

herby at your witch, I mean boss! Sounds like my old boss who was a real cow and she has cut everyone's hours too. Can't believe they can get away with pay cut!

On the brightside, at least your P & T's has wheels

herbgarden · 26/06/2009 18:00

Dinky can you not get the ventolin syrup? I thought it was great tbh as he was sounding like Darth Vader and as I'm already asthmatic I was getting concerned - it's horrible when you can't breathe. The stuff I had for him was called Aerolin - it's made by GSK and is ventolin suspension great for a toddler who I suspect finds it hard to take the inhaler.

herbgarden · 26/06/2009 18:01

Wheels that don't sodding work ! ...hope you get your P&T together this weekend

mumoverseas · 26/06/2009 18:01

bugger, didn't realise they needed pumping up (once I get them on of course) am just having a nice glass of wine and then I'm going to open the box again

nkweto · 26/06/2009 18:59

herb..as STW says..what a craptastic day SOO SORRY...

we have been in the doctors for a lot of today.. DS1 woke up with an strong allergic reaction to sometthing (dont know what)...swollen face, mottled skin (red and white patches !).. he has been prescribed steroids and antihistamine and referred to an allergy clinic..

... i still think it is the evil trees near us which drop balls of allergens on us on a daily basis..those who went to corams fields know which ones I mean !

hi to everyone else..got to go to do bed time hour.. but will catch up with the thread properly soon.. and i know that michael jackson was probably a bit mad on many levels..but i am sad he has died...

littleboyblue · 26/06/2009 19:20

mos Jacob has just come out of a phase of refusing a nap. He too had a stage of falling asleep with his head in his dinner plate and then wouldn't settle at night. Thank God that has passed.
coco he did say about opening a window and yelling for help. He also said a fire engine can be outside your house in 5 mins, but the dvd he showed us, the whole house was gone in 3 mins, so not much use!! Like you say, hopefully it won't ever happen, but it has made me think about getting a fire plan in place just in case. I have also booked for a fireman to come round and carry out a home assessment.
herb Sorry you've had a shite day and about the pay-cut

I AM SO BLOODY HOT!!!!!

Have to pop down to my neighbours in a bit, she's hosting a hen night and invited me a few weeks ago, I said I'd go but would rather just sit here in my underwear lovely sight!

SweetTalkinWoman · 26/06/2009 20:07

Feel sad too about Michael Jackson - I saw him at Wembley on his Black & White tour - a real entertainer. Aslo DH just told me taht Farrah Fawcett also died yesterday aged 62. What a sad day .

Cocodrillo · 26/06/2009 20:17

I find it very difficult to give a toss about MJ, all my instincts are screaming paed. Sorry that he had such a screwed up childhood though.

Right... back to Grazia.

dinkystinky · 26/06/2009 20:58

Nkweto - for your poor DS. Hope the meds do the trick v quickly or him and that he is not suffering too much. The heat probably doesnt help him with his allergic reaction either.

MoS - hope the P&T assembly is going well. Am sure the wine is helping

Coco - my gut instinct is the same as yours - but he was also v talented when at his prime. Cant help but wonder what is going to happen to his 3 kids though - will they finally be allowed to give up those masks? Will they be allowed to change their names to normal ones? Their mothers gave up all parental claims to them after they were born - so do they become property of the extended Jackson family now?

dinky.. been thinking about DS1's bad nights.. I am asthmatic and I really respond badly to the trees in the at the park, need to take ventolin alot when near them..(the ones that drop balls of seeds).. can you get him checked for allergies as well ?

coco.. completely understand your thoughts.. but musically he really was something else ... Dinky, i think that if he did not leave a will then the children's future is a little uncertain

PT.. have you flown, or are you going soon.. it will be fine though and if you havent gone.. have something for the little ones to eat/suck on during take off and landing and if possible take some food you know they will like for the flight..

Cocodrillo · 26/06/2009 22:06

must admit the moonwalk was pretty cool...

Cocodrillo · 26/06/2009 22:09

not to mention Beat It

mumoverseas · 27/06/2009 07:17

morning all, another crappy night but at least reinforcements arrive today in the form of DD1 who will be home til tomorrow pm and then DS1 arrives early tomorrow from KSA. Yay, I can bribe them to babysit whilst I sleep

nkweto sorry C has been so unwell. I bet it is those damm trees, they made me really wheezy and 'coughy' the other day and I don't normally suffer with stuff like that.

Very sad about MJ but then its sad when anyone dies. What is really sad though is the sick jokes that have started circulating this morning

Needless to say, P & T still in box as I realised bloody pointless hauling it out when I know I won't have time to do it. Will wait til tomorrow when DS can either do it whilst I have kids or more likely, I will do it whilst he keeps DD2 out of the way and watches DS. DD is soooooo excited that 'her' Alex and Maffew are coming home. She is used to Alex coming and going but has really missed Maffew and I'm not sure how she will deal with him being away at boarding school too from September.
She doesn't understand about daddy not being around, last time they had a long separation she was too young to understand but now a couple of times she has cried for him.
DS1 is apparently bringing home a webcam and has set up one in KSA so hopefully she'll speak to daddy via that (I'm guessing I'll now have to give up b/f whilst typing one handed )

Hope you all have a good weekend x

littleboyblue · 27/06/2009 07:54

Morning.
mos sorry you had a rough night. Yay on the older dc's arriving though.
I started hearing the jokes yesterday. It is very sad, what people are forgetting is that although famous, he was still someones son, brother, father, uncle, friend etc. Bet these people wouldn't be making these 'jokes' as and when they lose loved ones. The same with all famous people, remember the jokes about Lady Diana? Awful.
Your poor dd. Jacob spends most of the day walking around the flat looking for "Dadda"

I went to my neighbours party last night. She said it starte at 8, so I went down after EE at 8:30 and there were only a few there, no one turned up til 10pm! I felt really sorry for the Ann Summers rep, she was getting really pissed off, she said she would have been out the door normally by 10:30, she has 3 dc's at home and is 15 pregnant with 4th. She didn't even make enough sales for the night. I know it was a party, a hen night, so was quite rowdy, but they were all really dismissive of her, awfully rude I thought.
Then the stripper turned up..........
Dp is under orders to take Jacob to Dad's club at the childrens centre today, I think I'll tell him he has to take Luke too so I can have a nap!

nkweto · 27/06/2009 09:06

coco ... you made me giggle

MOS .. glad you are getting reinforcements soon

lbb hope you do get your rest in today !

We are going to enjoy the sunshine of the last weekend before WORK.. holy shit !!!

have a great one everyone ...
