happy anniversary dinky have a lovely evening

mumoverseas · 28/06/2009 17:16

herby is it a normal bicycle pump you need for tyres?

littleboyblue · 28/06/2009 18:26

dinky Happy anniversary hope you and dp have a nice evening.

I need to get a fan for the boys room, well one for every room really, it's so hot in here. Cooler outside. Someone's lending us one for dp being on night's next week so will move that into boys room at night. Gonna have to get one in the week though.
herb I'd hate to be pregnant now in this weather. It was horribly hot in summer of '07 too when I was carrying ds1, he was born on the hottest day so was absolute hell on that labour/post delivery ward.

Luke is now in bed in his new room. I'm feeling a bit nervous about it and expect them to keep each other awake a bit until ds1 gets used to it. No doubt I'll be up all night checking on them.

Dinky happy anniversary

MOS, yes, a normal bicycle pump should work fine for P&T tyres, we actually got a wheel fixed at a bike shop yesterday, apparently the tyres on anything other than a P&T Vibe are a standard bicycle size as well if you ever need replacements.

elkiedee · 28/06/2009 19:10

MOS/LBB, I couldn't live in somewhere as hot as Saudi, I hate hot weather. I appreciated the much cooler night last night. My favourite weather is probably early spring and early autumn, say late September before the getting dark early and light late thing gets too depressing.

herbgarden · 28/06/2009 20:15

Yep - you need a standard pump with the bendy thing you screw in the end so it can get in the wheel IYSWIM. We had one of those fast pumping fandangled ones and it wouldn't fit so bought a bog standard cheapo from Halfords. Also I bought an inner tube (spare) from the internet which I've just used......

Have just finished my lovely bbq'd steak and salad yum yum and am enjoying a nice cold glass of rose with the rest of the sunday papers...mmmmmmmmm..

Cocodrillo · 28/06/2009 20:54

happy anniversary dinky, enjoy your night of freedom.

LBB, hope Luke sleeps well in his new room!

re door bouncers, my children have always just dangled there looking bewildered.

I put DS in ours the other day and he just stood in it smiling, then twisted round 180 degrees, got worried that he was now on his own, cried a bit, and came out.

So... am I doing something wrong? What height should they be at? Should their feet touch the ground?

bumpsnowjustplump · 28/06/2009 21:06

Coco DS loves his bouncer we have it so that the tips of his toes touch the floor... he spins around in it a lot as well but does bounce too...

littleboyblue · 28/06/2009 21:53

coco Sorry, the image of your ds spinning around and suddenly thinking he's on his own is so sweet! You know what I mean.
I have it so that Luke's feet stand flat on the floor so he can jump and strengthen his legs. I do have to put him in backwards though, you know the back comes up higher? Well Luke and ds1 both seemed to be leaning forward, so I put him in with the back support at the front so he is standing straight.
I put him in it now in the morning while me and ds1 have breakfast and while I jump in bath/shower, then he is worn out enough for a nap.

The good news is that ds1's screaming when he wakes, hasn't as yet disturbed Luke, and Luke's screams when he wakes hasn't yet disturbed ds1.

littleboyblue · 29/06/2009 09:19

Morning. Hot enough for everyone? Apart from you mos, suppose you're in a jumper
We're all just in our underwear
Can't even face moving off the sofa so have put telly on and got some colouring out for ds1.

PinkTulips · 29/06/2009 09:34

Hello all, we survived the plane and the weekend in the htel.. wedding was nice but i think i enjoyed sleeping on a decent mattress most of all aaron has a funny tummy so wasn't in the best humour and it was stressful enough trying to keep him from screaming all weekend.

STW... dd is cow's milk and wheat intolerant, although cm is imrpoving slowely. ds1 was cows milk intolerant but has grown out of it. both have a tendancy towards eczema at times too. dp is asthmatic and eczemic so chances are one of the three at least will be asthmatic (aaron probably as the pneumonia as a newborn worsens his chances even more)

bumpsnowjustplump · 29/06/2009 11:03

PT I have given up dairy to see if it helps ds's reflux. Dr said it is hard to pin point an intolerance as the blood tests only highlight alergys. When I wean ds should I include cm products to test for intolorance and if so what will happen. It is hard at the moment because all symptoms could be reflux as well......

I am loving the weather and wish we were out in the garden but ds is so fare I am worried about him being out there too long... May have lunch out there and put him in the shade...

herbgarden · 29/06/2009 12:40

Morning - glad you had a good time PT and survived the plane journey !!......

Hot hot hot eh ! I've come home and put my shorts on (don't like the world seeing my disgusting thread veins ta very much) and am just making my lunch to eat in the garden. DD in bed. DS at nursery. Bliss.

Anyway, have a minor issue to resolve today. Sister is getting married a week Friday. The dressmaker who is altering the bridesmaid dresses (we bought them from a shop in town) said they'd be ready in 4 weeks which was 4 weeks ago. I tried calling her at the weekend but haven't heard - no reply from her e-mail. I walked past her house this morning at about 10 and rung the bell but no answer. She seemed nice enough and I'm sure won't let us down but my mum is getting all stressy about it so is making me all stressy about it too. The lady knows when the wedding is as I went separately from the two teenage bridesmaids and we both told her the date. She makes wedding dresses too so I suspect this is busy season but really what would we do if she's disappeared ?!!!...I can't tell my sister yet that we're getting a bit worried. I need to have a plan B which is that (I can make clothes myself but haven't for a while) I get some material and make a couple of dresses at the weekend even if I'm up all night......I just can't let her down.....I suspect the lady will just call us this week and we'll all wonder what the fuss is about. My mum is in complete stress bag mode right now though...

Right, will have a think but must go and eat my lunch.

littleboyblue · 29/06/2009 14:49

herb OMG, that does sound worrying. Like you say, I'm sure she won't let you down, but maybe a back-up plan is a good idea regardless. Can you hire dresses? Making them yourself is alot of work isn't it? Especially if you don't use thm, unless you can sell them.

HOT HOT HOT HOT TOO BLOODY HOT!!!!!!!!

mumoverseas · 29/06/2009 16:45

hi all, damm its cold out seriously though, its too bloody hot for me inside, I miss my AC!

DD being a brat today and has refused to nap. Had to drive over to my old firm this morning who are dealing with probate and she was a little cow. DS1 has just taken her for a walk to the local shop in the hope she dozes off as if she doesn't have a little nap she will be a nightmare later.

herby for your own (and your sisters) peace of mind, you need a back up plan.
Here's a suggestion. Monsoon (if you are posh!) BHS (if not so posh) do really nice wedding/bridesmaids dresses. Why not get a couple from there that you could then return within the normal 14 day period if you don't need to use them?

herbgarden · 29/06/2009 16:59

The getting a dress and returning it option sounds like a good idea -only problem is that the whole wedding is now based on the colour of the bridesmaid dresses - sage green - and would need to find a dress to fit me of nearly 40 (me) and two teenagers one of whom has just had a growth spurt .

I feel like a stalker but I walked by the ladies house again (en route home) so knocked at her door (again ) and no answer. I confess that I did peek through her letterbox and there didn't seem to be lots of post piled up as if she'd gone away or anything. God I sound dreadful but you know what happens once you start thinking the worst !....Maybe she'll call today. In-laws are coming on Wednesday (will have kids) and I have to go into town to get DH's birthday pressie (Friday)....so if I haven't heard by then I'll start planning my Plan B.

That's the only upside of working in this weather (when it's a wee bit too hot) is the a/c.

Went to the dental hygienist this pm. He was brutal . Learnt my lesson from last time and took the car seat . Have filled up paddling pool with lovely cold water and await the return of DS ! and DD has just filled her nappy 2 seconds after I changed it - typical.

mumoverseas · 29/06/2009 18:20

herby just had a look at BHS online bridal and they have a half price sale on bridesmaids dresses and one of the colours is 'peridot green' which is a palish green colour. Have long skirts with matching bodice tops Worth a look

DCs are playing up again. Bloody DD refused to nap again and is being a bitch at the moment. DS1 is trying to bath her but I can hear screeching going on so will have to investigate. DS2 has just filled his nappy again!

Cold water in paddling pool sounds lovely

littleboyblue · 29/06/2009 19:15

We've got a fan! Yay! An outreach worker at the sure start centre called me and said she had 2 at home so I could have one. It is a big one too.
I have put 2 litre bottles of frozen water in the boys room in hopes of keeping it a bit cooler in there through the night.
I have to go shopping for cot sheets, we only have the terry ones, imagine that's quite hot for them......

thanks for the bouncer advice.

is the MN group on FB no more?

Herbie, that sound a bit worrying. What MOS says.

MOS, your DS1 sounds like such a dream teenager! Works hard at his exams, and chips in with the childcare. I hope my DS is like that .

are you on FB herbie? I know who some people are in RL, but some people I chat to on here, and am friends with on FB, but don't quite make the connection between the two. Gah.

dinkystinky · 29/06/2009 20:20

Evening all. What a scorcher today - feel rather sorry for the tennis players at Wimbledon though. Thanks for all the anniversary well wishes - sadly both DSs were playing up last night while we were out at dinner so had to get back for just after 10, but was nice while we were out. We're trying again for a nice meal out tomorrow night abit further away- who knows, we may even go crazy and try to make it to dessert...

Coco - your post about DS and the bouncer made me chuckle! Am sure Danny would be exactly the same if we were to ever put him in a bouncer (DH has put a veto on my buying more baby tat so no bouncers to be found in the dinky household). We tried putting Danny in an activity walker at a kids party the other weekend - he tried to suck the toys then screamed to come out Clearly more of a people person than an action man...

MoS - sorry DD2 is acting up. The heat does drive toddlers crazy I find. Hope she zonks out soon so you can all breathe a sigh of relief.

Herb - god that sounds quite nervewracking about the dressmaker lady. MoS's idea of looking at Monsoon or BHS sounds really good though as a back up option.

Pink - glad you enjoyed the wedding and made it back ok. Hope Aaron is ok now.

LBB - hurray for the fan! Glad the boys slept ok and didnt disturb each other - though it sounds like they might have disturbed you? Hope they sleep well tonight in the cool.
