STW At least you have some answers now.
Not nice about him having to stay in for 24 hours

herbgarden · 24/06/2009 20:27

STW glad that at last someone seems to be finding answers to the horrible time you've been having and hopefully can find something to help your little man feel more comfortable.

LBB - very impressed with Luke - I remember DS didn't sit up unaided til about 7/8 months and it was a bit of a PITA as I couldn't just plonk him on the floor he always needed to be propped up.

I'm back to work on 3 August but work 2 days/3 days alternate weeks. I'm on 3 days the first week. I can therefore do some Wednesdays and then any Thurs/Fri....

I hate pigeons.

bumpsnowjustplump · 24/06/2009 20:56

really nice to meet you all and I look forward to meeting those who couldn't make it another time...

DS was much better today he was still a bit sick ( sorry dinky) but no wheres near as much as he has been and he was so smiley...... He still wouldnt be put down but was much better.

When we got on the train DD started crying and saying "my friends all gone" ah bless!!!

MOS thank you for your kindness today I will repay it when I next see you (you will have to meet me again now rar)

LBB & MOS sorry for your return journeys ours was really good and I got a fast train yipee

NKWETO I can still see your ds running in the paddling pool with his nappy sodden... He was so cute and your dd was lovely..

Infact all the children were adorable and so well behaved what good mummies we are!!!

nkweto · 24/06/2009 21:10

Thank you for a lovely, lovely day.. really enjoyed meeting everyone and all their babies/toddlers.. they were all gorgeous!!

MOS & Bumps DD's playing together like they had known each other for years were super cute!

I thought all the older children were beautifully behaved and I just love the relaxed vibe at corams fields..

lbb.. wow at Luke sitting properly! very clever

elkidee... hope you had a nice time at the library.. it was lovely to meander back to the station with you..

Dinky.. fancy some pigeon pasta LOL.. they were truly vile.

Our journey home was pretty good, although it WAS rush hour at Kings cross and I was like 'oh my god how will we get on the train !' but everyone was very kind and gave us space and told me not to worry as they tried to squeeze by the buggy !!

STW.. glad you got so answers..but hugs to you as DS still needs extra care and will have to be careful with his food..but at least you know what your are dealing with now..

going to have a nice glass of wine then going to bed !

Cocodrillo · 24/06/2009 23:45

STW how stressful for you, but at least you're getting some answers now, and hopefully this means poor Sam should start feeling better.

Glad to hear the meet-up was a success, lovely day for it. I'd really love to come along to the August meet up. There's one week in August I can't do, but can't remember which {blush]. Corams Fields would definitely be doable for me on a non-school day.

Must go to bed. Night night.

littleboyblue · 25/06/2009 06:52

Morning all. What a night! Luke was awake for most of it, he wasn't upset or anything, he was rolling around the cot 'talking' to himself and playing with his winnie-the-pooh night light thing that's tied to the cot. I left him as he was quite happy but I couldn't sleep while he was awake.

Yesterday really took it out of me, am shattered! Was very good though.

dinkystinky · 25/06/2009 12:03

Morning. Hurray for Luke sitting up LBB! Danny too was up for a couple of hours in the night chatting - think yesterday was clearly lots of excitement for them so they had a lot of things to chat about. DS1 was also up lots in the night with his cough which seems to be getting worse again. So I have 2 very cranky tired boys today... Have a homeopath appointment on Tuesday for DS1 as conventional medicine doesnt seem to be doing anything for strengthening his puny immune system. Fingers crossed it helps him.

STW - I hope your paediatrician rakes your GP over the coals or reports him to the local health body or something. Its really crap that you have had an issue diagnosed but they wont treat it on the NHS as it wasnt an NHS doctor that diagnosed it. They all went to the same medical schools for gods sake. Sorry to hear that Sam needs to go in for 24 hours testing though and also for the worrying allergy results - though on the plus side at least you know about them now so you can be prepared for all eventualities.

PinkTulips · 25/06/2009 13:23

STW... welcome to the atopic/allergic child club.... it sucks so sorry he's allergic to so many things... here's hoping he grows out of loads of them though.

mumoverseas · 25/06/2009 17:06

afternoon all,
STW at least you are finally getting answers and getting things sorted although it will be so hard to have the poor little thing in hospital for 24 hours but as long as he gets sorted it will be worth it. Glad your consultant was angry at your GP and hope the GP gets a bollocking.

LBB wow at Luke, he is very advanced, H only managed a proper roll onto his tummy this morning )

It was so lovely meeting some of you yesterday, bumps, Gracie keeps talking about 'eska' which I assume is her word for your DD (she lisps a little bit) They had such a lovely time together didn't they. Definitely up for a few more meet ups throughout the summer, hopefully without hellish train journeys
Anyone else up for a civilised Bluewater meet up?

Well sods law DHL tried to deliver the P & T yesterday, got a card through the door when home. Phoned first thing today and they said they'd deliver again 'this morning'. Finally arrived (in two parcels?) at 2pm and 3.30pm. Now I need to try to find time to get it out of the box and put it together. Would wait til DS1 home Sunday but really want it for Saturday as taking DD1 to her old school BBQ and it would be a godsend.
Keep trying to open box but everytime I put H down and try to do it he screams his head off. Don't know what is wrong with him today Really high pitched screaming which is awful.

herbgarden · 25/06/2009 19:10

Evenin' all.
Hope you manage to get the P&T's together ok MOS - I think as it's a fairly simple construction it's a matter of popping various bits on the metal tubes until they click and fastening bits of velcro !...(don't hold me to it when you're still up at midnight swearing at the incomplete P&T)...good luck !

I had to put the buggy board together yesterday morning but that was fairly simple and only a few bits but pushing the Buggy with the BB is going to take a bit of getting used to - it didn't feel that comfortable but DS liked it.

Went to the dentist this afternoon (second opinion - first dentist suggested 2 fillings (white) and a hygienist at a princely sum of £350 ?!) - the dental surgery is in a 3 floor building with no lift. The very helpful(!) receptionist said to me that my appointment was with the dentist on the top floor and I'd need to leave the buggy on the ground floor. I said that DD would

need it as she couldn't sit up at which point she proposed I re-arrange my appointment so I could have a "ground floor dentist" [unhelpful cow emoticon]. I stroppily (yes I'm a right stroppy one me) said that as they had no appointments for 3 weeks when I'd phoned I'd take this one thanks, yanked Dd out of her buggy, collapsed it and lugged her, the buggy and DS up the stairs muttering obscenities under my breath. The lovely lady dentist on the top floor (mum of a 16 month old) then told me that the dental nurse would have held her for my appointment . The said lovely dentist then carried DD all the way down after my appointment. What a palava.......I don't really know the answer but....

Anyway settling in for an evening of double bill Greys Anatomy and new series Private Practice. Good job Dh is working late, he'd never put up with all that American gumpf in one night !!

mumoverseas · 25/06/2009 21:56

the beasts are finally sleeping (compliments of calpol ) so I've just snuck downstairs to look at the P & T. A bit baffled why it came in two boxes delivered by two different couriers when all ordered together
will take a deep breath and start reading instructions.

herby the receptionists at your dentists sounds either a complete bitch or daft cow (or both?)

I've had a nightmare with DS1s dentists. Christmas 2007 he was referred by dentists to see an orthodontists for braces. Finally had appointment last July (mainly delayed due to us being abroad) anyway, they said he needed braces but needed a tooth out first which was stopping another one coming through. Said then it needed a bit of time to see if it came through ok. Said around 9 months would allow it to come through or not so next appt then. Expected appointment about easter and was worried about missing it but as it happens, when I got back a week or so ago a letter saying to phone and make appt was there.
So I phoned and they had three appointments available between now and October! One was in July when in France, one in Aug when DS doing work experience (not local) and one in September, the day AFTER he starts at his new school. Therefore, not an option. They then said that once he has had an appointment they will decide whether to put him on the waiting list for braces which is 12 to 18 months long!!!!!!!
Funny old thing, when I said we couldn't make any of those appointments they said if we go private (£150 for 10 min appointment then £3.5 to £4.5K for braces) he can have an appointment the end of July and braces by end of August! tossers!
A few days ago I popped into see the lovely receptionist at our dentist and explained this (mainly popped in for a chat and to vent) and she said that is crap and made a referal appt to another dentists a bit further away, phoned me 2 hours later with an appt for 2nd July and said they would do the braces by September.

herby, very jealous of Greys and Private practice. Watched that all the time in KSA, assume its on sky here? Cancelled our sky as not worth keeping and miss decent tv. What season is on now?

right, off to admire P & T box

mumoverseas · 25/06/2009 22:04

5 minutes my arse how can they say 'in 5 minutes you'll be off' when the steps set out in the instructions are a to x!

herbgarden · 25/06/2009 22:29

oh dear she's started swearing

elkiedee · 25/06/2009 23:53

LOL at MOS, it took dp a while to work out our P&T but I think that's because he was being bad tempered - first time round we gave up but second time round he actually worked it out quite fast.

As for deliveries, it's bizarre but nothing surprises me when it comes to Mothercare.

littleboyblue · 26/06/2009 07:23

herb what a nightmare dentist appointment. I miss Grey's, can't wait for it to come back on normal telly (don't have sky)
mos what a funny old mess that sounds!
Hope you got the P&T's together in the end.

Bloody mozzies, me and dp have been bitten to fcuk! We did a massive search around the flat for them last night both armed with a book. Managed to kill a few, so had blood splatters up the walls (nice!)
I woke at 4:45 this morning and could hear one buzzing about. I have killed 3 since then. This is exactly why I say we should close the windows by 8pm or get insect nets over them.

Ds1 seems to think the door bouncer is a swing. Poor Luke. He is really laughing though when ds1 tries to push him

mumoverseas · 26/06/2009 08:56

its still in the box

dinkystinky · 26/06/2009 09:11

Morning all. at the receptionist at that dentist's Herbgarden - she clearly doesnt have kids! MoS - sorry that the P&T didnt come put together for you. There is a definite gap in the market for a buggy pre-assembler service... LBB - I hate mosquitoes too - there seem to be loads around this year as well. Hope you got them all.

Had another crap night with Danny whose cold seems to be coming back with a vengeance and I seem to have it now too - so sorry Elkiedee and MsLucy wont be making it to pushy mothers today as feel rubbish. DS1 then woke and started screaming at 6 and has been a nightmare this morning - tantrumtastic, aggressive and wetting himself on purposes... aargh, remind me again why I had a second one??

OP posts:
PinkTulips · 26/06/2009 09:55

mos... i ordered from mothercare for th carseat. it arrived by courier in a box so big it would have fit 4 of them strange stuff

at all the dentist horror stories... at least over here we don't have to tackle the nhs.... haven't found a decent dentist locally yet though

lbb... just be grateful you're not allergic to the cunting little things like me and my dad... i spent an entire holiday inpotugal once with half my face swollen and unable to use one hand it was so swollen

rosieposey · 26/06/2009 10:57

Morning all,

Have been offline for ages because BT couldnt fix my internet for 10 days!

Hope you all had a good meet up - i went to the races that day and it was good fun although waaayyyy too boozy!
I will have have have to make the next meet up though as am dying to meet you all.

Will read back a bit when i get some time but in the mean time hope everyone is ok and there have been no major dramas so to speak.

Thunder and lightning here (i love a good storm) but am glad as it will cool things down a bit - poor Milo was very sicky in the heat yesterday and was having trouble keeping his milk down.

PinkTulips · 26/06/2009 11:18

[eek]

panicing slightly about flight later... have never taken any of he kids on a plane before.

someone slap me and tell me aaron will be fine please!

mumoverseas · 26/06/2009 11:24

rosie, welome back, glad you had fun at the races.

PT make sure you feed him (and get older kids to drink) during take off an landing.
Can't remember if you are b/f? With H and DD when she was little, I b/f them for take off and landing, particularly landing as otherwise it can hurt their ears.
Also, maybe a drop of calpol just before you fly might help.

He will be fine, just make sure he swallows. DD did 16 flights before she was 2 years old and H has done 7 so far.
Safe journey x

p.s. did everyone know Michael Jackson has died! I must be the last to find out!

PinkTulips · 26/06/2009 11:47

thanks mos, he's aving a feed now and i'm going to starve him until take off so he's guaranteed to feed. only me and him going so at least i don't have to worry about the others.

dp came running in a while ago and told me about MJ

the car just passed it's NCT [breathes huge sigh of relief] didn't think it would so that's a relief

littleboyblue · 26/06/2009 12:47

PT No, thank God not allergic. It's just the hives giving me trouble and making me look like the elephant man tgoday!!
rosie Hope Milo is ok. Luke's feeding a bit less often now. I'm putting it down to the heat, but not complaining!!
PT I won't slap you, but I'm sure all will be fine on the plane.
Mos Yeah, got up this morning, put GMTV on and couldn't believe it! Despite the controversy(sp?) of his life, I loved his music. RIP.

Had one of those mornings. At playgroup today, they had a fireman in to talk about fire saftey awarness (was very interesting). I have learned that if there is a fire in my flat or in communal corridor I do NOT throw the dc's out the window and hope they survive a 15ft drop, I shut us in a room and dial 999 and scream out the window for help. I told the fireman that if I spotted a fire in the hall, my first thoiught would be to get the boys out and I seriously think that would be throwing my sofa cushions over the balcany with them following Mother of the year award to me please! The serial baby-dropper strikes again.
I also told him I know my smoke detector works as it goes off everytime I cook dinner. He told me he wouldn't ever come round for dinner for fear of being thrown out the window. Cheecky, but v funny!

Not sure what's got into Jacob. I had to bring him home early as I saw him putting his hands around other childrens necks and trying to strangle them!!!!!! Haven't got a clue where he picked that up from. It first looked like he was hugging everyone, which he normally does, but then the strangling and pushing started. He saw a few older kids pushing each other at Coram's Field the other day and got a bit excited joining in (remember he pushed that little boy off the wall? ), so must just be from that?
He's in bed now, Luke is rolling around on the floor so while he's pretty happy, I'm going to get the ironing board out..

mumoverseas · 26/06/2009 13:53

LBB to be honest, I'd probably be doing the same, ie getting kids out window not hanging around hoping someone will come and rescue us (assuming you don't live on the top floor of a tower block!)

very your DC1 is in bed. DD just refuses to have her afternoon nap now. She always did in Saudi, regular as clockwork at around 1.15 to 1.30 for about an hour and a half. The last few days she has fallen asleep just before tea time which is a real pain in the arse as it then means I don't get her to bed til after 9pm

p.s P & T still in sodding box, can't find a screwdriver

mslucy · 26/06/2009 14:42

dinky way too tired for pushy mothers as have been working like a dog all week, juggling American students (who are lovely), nightmare boss and two small boys.

Only 2 more weeks to go of real madness, but don't see much chance of any r&r over the weekend as have to go to a reptile convention in Doncaster (don't ask).

At least I can't complain my life's boring (it isn't) but sometimes it all seems a bit MUCH
