vbab, imaginary friends are a very normal poart of development....shows a good imagination. And I think that novelists never lose the ability that all young kids have to make up things!! DS had an imaginary friend who was predominantly a big cat, but regularly shape shifted and followed us everywhere for well over a year, running alongside the car as he was too big to get in. DH have just been reminiscing about him, but we can't remember his name now . My advice, write it all down somewhere about zoo animals and parrots incase you forget!
Tegan I agree that your HV's advice seems a bit old fashioned and not inline with current recommendations. As ceebee says, the "food is fun till one" thing is what we are told here, and although finger foods and lumps help with the development of the muscles used in chewing and for speech, at this age it isn't critical, different if he were say 9 or 10 months and still on puree. Everything I have read on weaning suggests that they should be taking up to 32 fl ozs still at this age, gradually reducing it to 20fl ozs as they eat more at each meal and should still be taking around 20fl ozs at the age of one. I would just keep offering finger foods like well cooked bits of veg at the table when you are having your tea, some toast at breakfast etc alongside his purees and he will get there with it. Bumble is now almost 31 weeks and only in the last week has he really got the hang of getting food in his mouth by himself (witnessed by ceebee and jaunita today as he swiped up a bunch of grapes and ate them when I wasn't looking!!)
Had a lovely picnic lunch with ceebee and jaunita and a couple of j and I's stay'n'play mum chums today, even if the weather wasn't as nice as it's been. My DC are fine, but I still got a touch of sunburn on my face and arms, even though it was really cloudy . I hope P is OK juanita.
barbs couldn't make it as things are too hectic after the move and she said she couldn't find any knickers! She sends her love to everyone
I also had a message from rutho; she hasn't been able to get on and is feeling a bit glum. We are talking about another northern meet up the first week of July, as it's the last one before rutho goes back to work. So, suggestions for a public transport friendly venue, please.
another vicious outburst from my DS1 tonight ; we really don't know what to do with him.
