Ellie, that is really sad. My best friend, came up from Devon and stayed over night on thurs. She was going to a funeral, of her friends baby, and I vaguely know this poor lady. Her scan showed the baby had died. But she had to give birth to a stillborn. Prof Nikolaedes at Kings , who I myself have met, monitored the whole thing, because it was so severe.
So very sad.
Like you, makes me value ds1 and ds2 so much. I have been cuddling them both alot in the last few days. My love for them is HUGE at the moment.
Remember when Times are tough, to value how lucky I am. Remind myself, remind myself.

chocolategal · 06/06/2009 10:15

Morning everyone

Sorry DD isn't well pinky, sending get well hugs.
LOL coolkat, that huge shed might come in handy after all!

A day of tidying and packing here, got a friends christening tomorrow so need to get organised today.

Hope everyone has a good weekend

chocolategal · 06/06/2009 10:17

X posts obs, very wise words

Rosa · 06/06/2009 12:51

You are right we are lucky. A cousin lost one baby at 8 weeks pg, had a child ok then decided to abort after a very very abnormal CVS result -so I count my chickens despite getting soaked as dd1 dropped her beaker of water over me , minirosa and her lunch - and it was only half full !!!!!!!!!!

Have called in the troops for the party taking 2 buggies , 2 rain covers and 2 sets of shoes for dd as it is partly outside. Also I have said no pretty dress and have reached a compromise with leggings and a pretty t shirt top !!!

vbab78 · 06/06/2009 20:08

at all the baby stories. CANNOT BEGIN TO IMAGINE. I had a miscarriage before A in the early stages and was really but to have a still birth or the baby die makes what I went through nothing. Better start counting my chickens for my beautiful boy and girl.

vbab78 · 06/06/2009 20:24

Had good couple of days with DS (and A of course). Had our occasional wobbles but no full blown tantrums from either of us . DH took DS swimming today which DS loves and is his and daddy's thing. Although DS did bite DH because they were waiting to be allowed in the pool . Trying not to read anything into it but DS not done that since being about 1. Anyway I got a bit of piece and quiet for a couple of hours because A went down for her lunchtime nap and slept for 2 hours !

The only slight sadness today has been because I visited Ena and Jimmy. They are as good as GPs (known them since being about 5) but not IUSWIM and both are frail but Ena has been diagnosed with dementia. Was great to see her and the memory loss varied. At 1 point she asked me my age, i said "31" she said "no you're not you are 14 or 15". She asked about kids just before and we had a debate about the microwave that wasnt a microwave or so she said for 10 mins then she realised and called herself silly. The saddest point was when she like a moment of clarity and started telling me how she has been ill since early last year and how it started with her not being able to cook then she changed the subject on to something unrelated . During hour or so i was there she kept saying that a man was supposed to come take blood but she keeps waiting for him to come. Jimmy told her many times her wouldnt be coming until Monday at the earliest but she kept returning to the subject and going on about it.
Sorry for going on.

GOOD NEWS - Seeing Beyonce at Sheffield tomorrow .

tegan · 06/06/2009 20:52

Hi all.

I am so sad at all the stories today a friend of mine had a little boy at 38 wks but after breathing fine for 8 mins just stopped and was unable to be revived it was so heart breaking.

I am having a very strange day, firstly dh went on a stag do at 9am and i ahven't heard from him which is a worry as he usually would ring to check on the kids. Then i took all the kids on a shopping expedition which went surprisingly well then we ordered a chinesse tonight for tea and O had a screaming fit everytime i tried to eat so i ended up sharing my tea with hime. He ate egg fried rice, prawn crackersn chips and even screamed until i let him taste my fanta.

Please don't report me to social services for being a bad mummy.

LackaDAISYcal · 06/06/2009 21:37

evening all. So sad about all these stories. Friends of my BIL lost their baby a few hours after birth, very sad .

Tegan, bumble has had some chicken fried rice and the veg from chicken and cashew nuts (I sucked all the sauce off though as I was worried about msg and salt). This week he has eaten homemade chilli and then some chicken curry and tonight he had a mini cornetto type ice-cream....and the little beggar ate the lot and shouted at it all the time he was eating it, lol. There is nothing that boy won't eat!!!..oh yeah, he spat out the beetroot I tried to give him tonight!

I hope your DH is OK; maybe his battery is dead in his phone and he has had a momentary (drunken) lapse that land-line phones still exist!

PinkyMinxy · 06/06/2009 22:04

Daisy I would count your blessings on the beetroot. DD1 is quite fond, and of tomato soup. Both of which reak havoc on white terry totsbots!

Have ordered a who heap of itti bitti nappies in the large size. DH is very taken with them. Have oredered all the colours except the black and the blues

Mimi is a little star. I just hope her chest clears soon it sounds terrible.

DH and I have decided to repaint the sitting room the same colour it is now (v. adventurous, I know), but it will be lovely to get started on the decorating!

Coolkat love the idea of a shed party!

PinkyMinxy · 06/06/2009 22:05

sorry you do understand that the nappies are not for DH, just that je likes them, which means he will use them on the children, rather than finding excuses to use sposies

LackaDAISYcal · 06/06/2009 22:58

hey pinky . Poor Mimi; I hope she gets better soon. DD has had a cold for over a week now, her wee face is all red and sore from contantly getting snot wiped away. She loves beetroot, especially beetroot salad.....but alas we are no longer using real nappies (although I am saving a few for wearing under pretty dresses)

lol at your DH being taken with nappies; there are specialist websites for adult nappies I understand

glad you have had a couple opf good days vbab.....and enjoy Beyonce; I bet it's a fantastic gig!

PinkyMinxy · 06/06/2009 23:22

lol I remember a friend sending me an ebayt link once to adult babygrows - really rather creepy!

Did you ever try the silk nappy liners? They are really fab for nappy rash.

LackaDAISYcal · 06/06/2009 23:32

I've got a couple of them....

....that's silk liners, not adult babygros . Nothing seems to help DD's nappy rash; I suspect it's more eczema related though. she is in a real state at the minute, all blistered and sore again but we recently changed washing liquid, but she also has this wicked cold.

I've seen adult dummies on ebay before

PinkyMinxy · 07/06/2009 00:03

oh bless poor love. I bet you will be really happy to have her potty trained.

LadyBuzz · 07/06/2009 10:39

Hi everyone,
haven't been on for a few days as we have had quite a busy week with DH being off. spent alot of time with my DB and his family which was lovely as we don't see alot of them, my niece is so gorgeous!

Had a surprise 60th for my Dad last night most of the family were there and he had a whale of a time. I have never seen him so drunk .

I have read all of the posts but can't remember what I wanted to say now so sad to hear about your friend ellielou and all the other babies you just can't begin to imagine how that would be.

I have just sorted some more baby clothes out and put Jay into 9-12 months, he is a right fatty he even has a 12-18 m top on today and it is not too big!

DS1 is alot better but appears to have hayfever now poor love.

I am def up for another Northern meet up, will be fab to see everyone again and see how much the babies have grown.

sorry to hear Rutho is feeling a bit down.

Yorky good to see you

Hope everyone else is well

vbab78 · 07/06/2009 11:18

ladybuzz - hope you get through the day ok without hangover. So . A is in 9-12 clothes for some clothes even though only coming up to 7m.
NORTH MEET UP - When and where? Just I can meet you ladies again and it not be when on hols.
SEEING BEYONCE tonight. YIPPEE!!! Not sure I will get DH to dance though . So do I shake my bootay anyway and make a right fool of myself or shake it in my seat and be the only couple in the arena sat down ?

coolkat · 07/06/2009 12:13

He'll be up and shaking too if everyone around him is Vbab!

Well it has not stopped raining here and its cold so I am just chilling with the girlies. DH at work. Pray its not like this next sunday otherwise we will somewhat be in the shite!

Size wise Becca is just going into 6-9mths and mainly because I am bored of her 3-6 stuff!

coolkat · 07/06/2009 12:13

Geating = Heating lol

londonboots · 07/06/2009 16:51

hi all! have been lurking but too exhausted to post! have now been back at work for 5 (!!!) weeks. it has flown and can't believe it's been that long. did half days for first 4 weeks (brilliant way to go back if you have the option - did 11-3) and one week full time. M doing brilliantly at nursery - eating, sleeping, lots of fun activities. we get a detailed daily written report which is great - what he ate, when he slept, when his nappy was changed (and what was in it!), what he did etc. i don't really get a chance to miss him at work because it's so busy but i love shutting down my computer at 5pm (for the first time ever!) and going to pick him up. it's so lovely to see him at the end of the day. and he's so happy and fun for that (all too brief) period before bedtime. this is just a magic age i think! he wants to grab at everything and finds everything funny. the great weather at the weekend has been fab - have spent lots of time in our garden and out and about. having a little one and working full time really makes you truly appreciate weekends in a whole new way.

so he is finally getting this eating thing and is moving around lots - I often put him down in his cot one way and will find him completely turned around when he wakes up next! we have now fitted a stair gate as I don't think it will be too long before he's off across the floor!

hope everyone is well. obs how was your holiday? (did I miss you telling us how wonderful it was?) dozy hope you're still out there () and stay in touch on FB - we will do a london meet up some time!! have been reading with interest those with 2 (or more) LOs and the challenges...will be me in a few years (fingers crossed, all going to plan). sounds tough!! you are to be admired! hi and hugs to everyone else!

Yorky · 07/06/2009 18:03

Glad DD isn't the only one in 9-12 clothes! although I blame the washable nappies! Itti bittis are lovely, silk liners look like old dishcloths, never used them on nappy rash so can't comment! Homeopathy did it for DSs eczema.

So sad about all the baby stories, the worst I knew is a friends sister who had a MMC discovered at 12wk scan, about a month before I had mine with DD - I was so nervous coming up to our scan.

Glad you've had a better couple of days Vbab, hope you have a fantastic time tonight.
DD is hideously constipated atm, no poo for over 48hrs which is a first for her, and DS never did it so a bit clueless - any suggestions?

LackaDAISYcal · 07/06/2009 18:20

lol yorky....my DH actually used one as a dishcloth!

vbab...you go and shake that booty; if your DH doesn;t join in then he is a party pooper.

Good to see you Londonboots....can't believe it's been five weeks already

Hey LB....sounds like a good family party.

Northern meet up is being mooted for the first week in July as rutho is back at work after that. I'll do a FB thing so we can pin down a date, time and location!

Had a lovely party for DD today. Only a few babies, toddlers and older DC (11 in total I think) but it was still manic. I can't believe she is two; she looks soooo grown up. Bumble tucked into an egg mayo sarnie, a cocktail sausage and then some cake, and cried when the cake was gone! Juanita and P came, with P looking very dapper in his braces.

The books are lovely juanita; DD has been mithering at me to read them to her all afternoon

I think they have all had Too Much Sugar though as it's getting a bit mental here. Early bed for them all tonight I think.

Back later; DH is doing tea single handed and it all sounds like it's getting a bit much in there!

tegan · 07/06/2009 18:59

Evening.

O has started to scream if you take food away or there isn't any on the spoon.

O is in some 6-9 month clothes but mainly 9-12 and he isn't even in cloth nappies anymore.

This week is going to be hectic. Dad's bday tomorrow then dh on tuesday then i have a hen party on saturday my busy little life.

PinkyMinxy · 07/06/2009 19:00

Glad DD's party kjl, went well, Daisy.

lol at the dishcloths! I knwo, silk liners soudn quite luvurious, don't they, but they are actually knitted and look very mundane. Work well on nappy rash, though!

Mimi has been in 9-12 for a while- she is very long and not exactly thin! She is definitely of the 'edible thighs' variety

She still sounds very rattly, not good really.

Hi Londonboots, Yorky!

Sounds like a good party, LB.

PinkyMinxy · 07/06/2009 19:01

oh Yes I meant to say, glad you are having better days, Vbab, and enjoy the gig!

vbab78 · 08/06/2009 00:27

Hi. QUick post will catch up tomorrow. Back from Beyonce at Sheffield. WOW what an amazing lady. Loved every minute. It was 1 of my xmas pressies from DH so he got lots of thanks. He didnt really shake his bootay but the whole time stood up and held me . Just knackered now, boiling and feet in agony due to knee high boots. Worth the pain. Night, night.
