this is officially a crap night now. He'd woken 4 times before I even came to bed, hasn't slept for a second over 2 hours at any point, and has now been up since 3, because I'd just got him soundly off when I realised that he was soaked through, and now after a complete change I can't resettle him. He's now shouting angrily in his cot whilst I'm wishing I could get dh up without risking waking dd.

Oh heather - your allotment sounds lovely.
Mine isn't an allotment it's just a patch of garden. I dug up the lawn as it was all lumpy and horrible and I never used it. We're lucky that, although our flat is only one-bed, we have got a big garden. I don't know why we live in London really - DP hates it and I want more outside space for chickens and more veg.

I hope you managed to get ds back to sleep CSWS. If I pick up any tips from Ms Pantley, I'll let you know.

That is shocking of Boots MM! I would definitely write them a complaint letter if I were you. I'm going to look in my local Boots and see whether they've done the same thing.

Just got DS's chunkle munkle cosytoes this morning. It's beautifully made and was half the price of the rip-off Bugaboo one.

aubergenie · 14/05/2009 08:14

Oh and those with rolling babies, are they doing front to back or back to front?

jenwa · 14/05/2009 08:46

thank you mm and ronshar although not sure dd reallu understands but you cant really explain death to a child so goin to the stars is nicer and she gets to look up at them. She knows my parents old dog is up there and points sometimes

I know what you mean re the post baby tummy, I need to do some exercises to reach those core muscles and try to re attach my muscles to my skin!!! DH also seems not to be bothered by it, he knows I am insecure

aubergenie dd rolls from back to front but can do it the other way not too. She is also currently trying to type...aghhhh, she was squeelin in the other room so now have her on my lap and she keeps pressing letters and is a wrigger!!

KSal · 14/05/2009 09:01

I am another one who wants to lose some weight. I am hovering just above 'OK' which is where i was before pregnancy, except that my stomache used to be flat... the only problme i i keep resolving to lose some more weight (ideally about a stone) but every time i do that something takes hold and makes me go out and buy crisps and chocolate!

I have absolutely no will power and have no one to blame but myself!

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/05/2009 09:04

I had another go aubergenie, but he woke again when I put him down, so I got dh up. He was only up for 9 minutes, but got ds back off, and he slept til about 7:45 (dd up before then obv).

Why don't you move out of London? Is it because of dh's job?

Rolling is both ways here.

Ds is definitely more mobile. I just turned round to find him on his tummy taking the lid off the compost bucket and grabbing for some of the contents. oops.

Dp and I are currently in talks about what we're going to do CSWS. Although I want a lot of the trappings, I'm a bit scared of the country to be honest. I grew up in a small town and couldn't wait to get out. I'm worried I'll be bored and end up a raging alcoholic or something. We're also thinking about going abroad - Berlin or Amsterdam or possibly France. It's all a bit up in the air as dp wants to retrain as something, but doesn't know what.

Lozza70 · 14/05/2009 09:41

OMG this thread moves so quickly. I think you can put me down as just an occasional contributor

CSWS your night last night sounds terrible, do you get any chance of 40 winks during the day?

Rolling both ways here and pushing himself into what looks like a downward dog yoga move. Hands and feet on the ground and bum straight in the air but Sander is one of the oldest I think as he is 8 months old next week. When did that happen???

Anyway news today is that Sander cut his first tooth yesterday, which will explain the grumpy little sod angel I had to deal with yesterday. I did think he was not going to get any teeth or hair until his teens the way things were going

On the weight front I'm trying not to think about it too much as it's all too horrific. I have a 20 year school reunion at the beginning of July and I'm twice the size I was at school. Gradual creep due to love and baby! We are off on holiday beforehand so I'm hoping a tan will cover a few of the stones!

Marthasmama · 14/05/2009 09:47

He should be a photographer Aubergenie! He's pretty fabulous at it and can do that anywhere. In Germany they have excellent holiday leave!

Sorry about your night CSWS. I had four hours kip but it was in a block so I don't feel too bad. I did think of you when M kept waking up every time I put her down. I left dh too it in a grump at one point as his snoring had woken us up. But then thought better of it as he is bound to put her in bed with him then roll on her, rather than be patient with putting her back.

We're off shopping so I can get something to wear for M's baby naming thingy. It will probably take about 5 mins before I'm totally suicidal. Prepare for misery and woe when we return. I used to love clothes shopping.

star6 · 14/05/2009 10:25

Little bit of a vent here: Q has been sleeping horribly for all of this week... I haven't slept a full 2 hours in a row at all. I am so exhausted. I'm now at work - my class is having their snack. 5-7 year olds are draining as well and need so much attention that when I go to see Q at lunch I'm wiped of energy. I am not sure if I'll ever feel ok again... and our kids have a show tonight at 6.30
Sorry, I know people like csws have it much worse as their babies never ever seem to sleep. Just a little selfish ridiculous rant

star6 · 14/05/2009 10:27

only 5 1/2 weeks more of school until I'm off for the summer! I can't wait....

aubergenie · 14/05/2009 10:37

I suggested that to him MM, but he said he doesn't think anyone would want his pictures. He lacks in self confidence, which doesn't help. I think he should investigate the market. Anyway, I'll tell him you said that - he'll be really chuffed.

Good luck with the shopping trip. It's a horrible pressure when you have to get something. Takes all the pleasure out of it IMO.

aubergenie · 14/05/2009 10:42

Not selfish at all Star. Having a class full of small children is tiring even when you have had a good night's sleep and however well-behaved they are. I don't think anyone in the no-sleep club would begrudge you coming on here and venting.

Great that you break up so soon. Do you get a lovely long summer holiday? (I know your school system is different)

MM i had that kind of shopping trip last weekend, i was really depressed by the end of it. I was fantasising about having a personal shopper, but fear that dressing properly for my size/shape would make me look uberfrumpy... unfortunately my current solution is to live in jeans, t shirts and docs so i basically look like i could be in a dodgy advertising campaign for Margate (apologies to anyone who is not a fan of the apprentice).

doesn't help that i am 5'11" and disproportionately long in the body, so lots of tops just won't reach!

Thanks for sympathy
Was going to bring Q and DH to our show tonight at 6.30 (it's only 30 min long), but the music teacher has added in these noisy african drummers and I'm a bit worried he'll just be frightened. He gets really freaked out by the blender and when people sneeze/cough - but then sometimes there are other really loud noises and he doesn't really care...

Afternoon all,
CSWS, sorry for your dreadful night. We have a much more "patch" like veg patch - 2 squares, each maybe 5' x 5', I grow, carrots, spring onions, parsnip and french beans. in the other, runner beans, onions, courgette and peas. I have cucmber and tomatoes in my mini greenhouse (like a cross between a tent and a portaloo!) waiting to go into growbags. We always get excellent carrots, courgette grows like a triffid, french beans and parsnip are my experiments this year. HTH
star - good luck tonight! On the subject of body shapes, I have decided the only solution is to go Dairy Milk free
I plan to start this as soon as I finish the childrens easter eggs

pepperrabbit · 14/05/2009 14:26

sorry, I was on the phone to British Gas while I typed that, spelling, grammar, punctuation all appalling!

pepperrabbit · 14/05/2009 14:57

then i nearly spat my tea out laughing at MM jumping up and down on my fb page. LOL
