She was on the front and about the same age as our babies I would have said. Maybe a little bit older but no older than 10 months. M is quite tall so it's hard to tell. I forgot to ask! The baby was grumpy but then they had been out all day. I wanted to ask about bfing but didn't want to assume.......

Another thing I was going to mention was I was a bit annoyed at something I saw in Boots today. They had lots of little adverts for that new slimming tablet in the baby section. They were right by the new born nappies and I think it's a bit off for two reasons. 1) there is enough pressure on new mums to lose weight without places like Boots adding to that and 2) you can't take them when you're breast feeding so it's not great that they were by the new born baby nappies.

What new slimming tablet?!

Please write to Boots, and tell them that I'm outraged too.

Ronshar. I know, it was pretty dull wasn't it. The thing I don't understand is that dp stuck a screwdriver in a socket when he was a toddler and gota bad electric shock. That bloke seemed to be saying that couldn't happen.

CSWS - I've got a veg patch about 20ft by 15 ft (I'm guessing the size) At the moment I've got several rows of mixed salad and rocket, garlic, shallots, potatoes, peas, beans and perpetual spinach. Then I've got sweetcorn to go in and squash, then tomatoes and courgettes will go in growbags next to it. Oh and I've got mint, rosemary, sage, chives in a little corner too. And some rhubarb. I had no luck with carrots or beetroot last year so didn't bother with them this year. If you plan it right, you can get a lot in a small area.

Marthasmama · 13/05/2009 22:25

It's called Alli - It's one of those fat binders that can give you terrible diarrhoea, stomach cramps etc. They're not sure whether it can transfer into your milk, but think it's unlikely. Can you imagine the damage it would do to a new born (well any bfed baby) if it did cross over into breast milk?! Not something you'd want to take a risk with I'm sure! And totally irresponsible of Boots to prey on a new mother's vulnerabilities.

Marthasmama · 13/05/2009 22:27

Aubergenie - Maybe the design of the sockets has changed over the years to prevent curious toddlers from electrocuting themselves. And that is one hell of a vegetable patch! It's the size of my living room!

CantSleepWontSleep · 13/05/2009 22:27

20x15 isn't a small area aubergenie - it's HUGE when it's part of your garden (yours is an allotment yes?). I think I might be able to get about 10ft (maybe 12ft) by maybe 6ft or so.

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 13/05/2009 22:29

Ooh yes, I think my living room is 19x15, so it's the size of mine too!

yeh well done Naomi When I read the previous post I was going to put that Phoebe was bending right back like that just before she rolled!

Apprentice was bad! Shocking leaflets I say.

mm Bad pills totally agree re the whole pressure of slimming after a baby and tut tut to boots!

Am off to bed in mo, shattered.
Going to do painting tomorrow with DD1, she wants to do a picture for "granny" to take to the stars .

jenwa · 13/05/2009 22:32

blinking heck aubergenie can you send some veg out please

Marthasmama · 13/05/2009 22:32

Jenwa - Awwww bless her. That is so sweet. She's clearly ok with the whole idea though. Well done on how you handled it.

ronshar · 13/05/2009 22:45

Jenwa. You are doing so well, obviously your communication with your DD is brilliant.

Aubergenie, can you send me some veg? Better still Star can bring some with her when she comes down to clean my house.

I dont understand diet pills. Surely one of the reasons some people are overwieght is because they eat too much. Putting more stuff in your mouth isnt really getting to the bottom of the over eating in the first place Also you only get the nasty side effects if you eat fatty foods while on them.
I am appalled at Boots. I hadnt noticed the pills in the baby section in my local boots. They were every where else mind you!!

Marthasmama · 13/05/2009 22:48

I agree Ronshar - It's not much help if the fat just falls out of your arse instead of sticking on it. Doesn't really teach you anything. I do wish I could have thinness on credit though. I'd pay it back, honest guv!

CantSleepWontSleep · 13/05/2009 22:57

I'm not fat because of overeating

Seriously, what diet pills? Are these like the ones (xenical) that were prescription only? I had those years ago, but with no diet advice to go with them . They didn't work.

OP posts:
Marthasmama · 13/05/2009 23:04

I believe that they are basically half strength xenical. I'll do a link These are the pills. I don't know anything about fat binders so they might be totally different to the ones you mentioned CSWS but I am sure I have heard someone say they were similar. I'm not fat from over-eating either. I'm fat from my cyst (plus eating wheat & dairy when I'm not meant to and not exercising) Coconut macaroons are mainly air........

ronshar · 13/05/2009 23:07

CSWS they were prescription only but have just been taken off the list so can be sold by a pharmasist(sp). Brain gone to mush spelling is always the first thing to go.
They have to give you diet advice when you get the pills as it is really important to eat properly or the pills dont work. I think they promise to help you lose an extra 1lb for every 1lb lost while dieting & exercising.
My sister has just run the marathon. She hasnt lost any weight even though she was averaging 15 miles a week. Unfortunately she forgot the equation of energy in, must equal, energy out!

Since I have been going to body pump and running again I have lost about a stone. I am not trying to show off. I still have a 3 baby belly that hangs over my trousers(only surgery will sort that out)

Marthasmama · 13/05/2009 23:12

Ronshar - I had that belly after one! When it was fat free if I bent over it folded in half. If I was doing something vigorous like cleaning food off the floor the skin would clack together Mmmmmmmm lucky DH.

heather1980 · 13/05/2009 23:14

they are half strength xenical 60mg instead of 120mg. and they cost £50!!
apparently they are selling like hotcakes at work. what fun when i go back!

aubergine my veg patch is 120ft by 18ft so ner i love my allotment, i may just move into the shed and leave the kids with dh.

ronshar · 13/05/2009 23:17

Yes I was all smug with some of my friends who used to complain of the baby belly. Now all my smugness has come back to bite me on the bum.
Baby not sleeping, although he is now touch wood.
Big baby belly,
Still breast feeding because baby wont take a bottle.
To name but a few!!
I really wish I had kept my mouth shut

I am loving the picture in my head now MM, belly dragging on the floor sweeping up the discarded food

ronshar · 13/05/2009 23:18

Heather that is not a PATCH

heather1980 · 13/05/2009 23:21

lol it even has a kettle

Marthasmama · 13/05/2009 23:22

I had nothing to be smug about after ds. He ruined my tummy, my boobs and my arms My poor friend has not a single stretch mark on her tummy but her legs are covered in them. All the way down to her knees. Oh and it didn't drag.. It just clacked together as it was just a big flap of skin. I also had boobs that looked like snooker balls in socks. I had to roll them up to get them in my bra. DH has promised me surgery once we are finished with babies. (disclaimer - he says that my boobs and stomach are beautiful the way they are as they carried and feed our babies. He knows that I think he's taking shit they're terrible)

Marthasmama · 13/05/2009 23:23

That's farmland Heather!! What do mean it has a kettle? IN a shed I assume or did you grow one?

heather1980 · 13/05/2009 23:32

the kettle is in the shed! there is no loo though so i have to pee in a bucket.

heather1980 · 13/05/2009 23:35

dh is also going to be paying to put my boobs up by my chin rather than down by my ankles. how i wistfully look back at my pre baby, bra free days. i had the most beautiful pert breasts, indeed they were a thing of beauty.
