Morning all. Had a terrible day yesterday, as I woke up with a throat like shards of glass, really bad sinuses which were affecting my balance and my hearing, a massive blocked duct in my breast AND (oh the joy) my period. I was in a right old state but fortunately dp?s job isn?t busy at the moment so he was able to work from home and help me out.

Jenwa ? Glad your Gran?s funeral went as well as it could and you were able to give her a good send-off.

Bethoo ? Welcome back and tentative congratulations on your pregnancy.

Ooh HMM ? That work situation is a tricky one isn?t it. If it was me, I?d take the time off, but we?re in a fortunate situation in that, until we decide to move to a larger place, our overheads aren?t too high. It?s difficult if you?re the main breadwinner though.

HMM ? I?m in the process of trying to break that feed to sleep association. It?s so tedious.

bethoo · 19/05/2009 10:45

i only had one period before i fell preggers so presumed i was on a 28 day cycle. obviously not.so whilst the withdrawal may have worked ovbviously we were withdrawing at the wrong time . we still do the need every night so there was a high chance it would happen. mind you did anyone watch that programme caleld the great sperm race? if you watch that you wonder how we get pregnant at all!!

Marthasmama · 19/05/2009 10:53

Bethoo - When I told the HV of the circumstances before ds was conceived she said she would have thought the chances were nil. I had an ovarian cyst, I drank like a fish, smoked, ate rubbish, was a little bit overweight, had irregular periods, a womb that faced the wrong way and we had been using condoms & had a mishap. Needless to say, he wasn't planned!

aubergenie · 19/05/2009 11:24

and at you having the energy to do the deed every night Bethoo!

A friend of mine fell pregnant very quickly after having her first ds. He was a fluke - they'd been about to start IVF after years and years of trying and she only had one ovary - her periods hadn't started again after having him and she was convinced that she'd never get be able to have another child. She had the embarrasing prospect of going back to work after her mat leave and tell them that she was pregnant again.

Bethoo - The good thing about having all your children close together is that although it's knackering at the start, it more than pays off later when they entertain each other really well. That's what I've been told anyway.

bethoo · 19/05/2009 12:10

yes it is daunting as i have been drinking liek a trooper every weekend so hope i am not too far gone adn just started on my folic acid!
there is an age gap between my ds and dd of 19 months and there will be an age gap between dd and potential baby of 15 months!!!i could end up of having a baby every year if this one comes this year!!!
dont want ot worry though as may still not happen..

bethoo · 19/05/2009 12:12

Blinking heck bethoo the novely has not worn off then DH is lucky if he gets any! Hence him having a delivery for me from Anne Summers to get things spiced up a bit! I just hate my body and feel paranoid.

MM Bless, you have a miracle child

All ok here. Phoebe still coughing abit and rattly at night but ok otherwise. Poor Naomi myjob these bugs just seem to be going round and coming back!

CantSleepWontSleep · 19/05/2009 19:43

Err, that could be on account of MN being down for most of the day jenwa!

jenwa · 19/05/2009 20:03

Oh it is quiet here.....

star6 · 19/05/2009 20:10

I've jsut checked a weblink for swine flu... and I meet the criteria... of course I also meet the symptom criteria for about 46 other things I'm such a worrier!!!

star6 · 19/05/2009 20:14

thought about it last night, too and dreamt that I grew a pig's tail from bottom of my spine . I'm a very visual, literal thinker.

How hard do youthink it would be for MN towers to create an MN for mobile/blackberry? I'd love that Should I ask?

Another kid in my class has chicken pox!! I've asked for a teacher&son playdate

Poor poorly babies! Q had this cold for 2 weeks now... not sure what more to do for him. So much snot.

loulou33 · 19/05/2009 20:14

Star - i cannot believe that you have been using withdrawal method considering how you don't want to do thru chidlbirth again. its has about 25% 'success' rate compared to the pill of 99%, what are you thinking?? Get yourself down to family planning asap, i say.

Bethoo - hope it all goes well next week. Re: Maia's constipation - Joe suffered for a few weeks but prune puree (rather than the juice), lactulose and a glycerine suppository (last resort) seemed to sort it out. I had heard that sugar water was just an old wives take and didn't really work but i have never tried it so don't know for sure. I give him loads of fruit purees after/mixed in with each meal to keep him regular. If the fruit doesn't work for maia, i would suggest a visit to the gp might be the next step as its not good for them to be constipated for long apparently.

HMM - its a real toss-up between less money and being at home more, it sounds really tempting and i personally would love to be off longer, particularly as i am due to go back soon. 30% for 12 weeks sounds great when the four of us are living on £115 a week!!. but don't feel pressured to take the offer just cos its being offered iyswim. you also shouldn't feel bad if you want to go back to work either, particularly if you want to save some money for the next baby.

right, til later

star6 · 19/05/2009 20:23

Ok, not using that method anymore!!! DH convinced me it was effective (he doesn't want to wear a condom and I don't want a coil or anything like that and don't think the pill is so great while bf). We didn't have sex for the first 5 months after Q was born because I was so terrified. I've come around to it now, but only once or twice a week on sat/sun while Q naps.. too tired during the week.

jenwa · 19/05/2009 20:25

csws I never knew, I had been getting on here so much quicker today! Never went on this afty though so would not have realised.

star you are funny, you dreaming of growing a pigs tail! I am sure if you had swine flu you would not be MN ing! Agree re the MN for mobile though, its crap on my blackberry and takes far too long to bother. Are you thinking this though purely for using when you are in bed with swine flu
Hope Q gets better too. Poor baby.

CantSleepWontSleep · 19/05/2009 20:25

I'd love a mobile MN too star, so would back you up on a thread requesting it (do it in site stuff). I would wait until they have dealt with the current furore before asking though.

OP posts:
jenwa · 19/05/2009 20:27

star sorry lol re your DH convinced you !!. Men, they will say anything to get some rumpy pumpy, dont believe him
Believe me though, he WILL wear a condom if it is the only way he will get any

heather1980 · 19/05/2009 20:28

evening all.

star you mad woman! get thee some condoms!
dd has tonsilitis, q a mad rush to the ooh gp last night, her temp was up to 38.5oc and wouldn't come down even after calpol. she's on AB now which have given her the runs . dh took her whilst i looked after ds and then went to the midnight boots to get the script. she's meant to be on them for 10 days so they gave her 2 bottles, and when i read the bottle they go ood in 7 days, so i had to go and take them back and get a ticket for the second bottle. i'm really angry, what if i hadn't looked and given her them when they were out of date? the manager was really dismissive of me so i'm going to write a letter of complaint.

i also went to see the HR dept, i've got my start date of 6th july it's only 15 hrs but i'll be sad to leave the kids. there have been loads of changes since i've left so it'll be a shock when i go back, it'll be like starting a new job.

heather1980 · 19/05/2009 20:30

star the 'mini' pill is ok to use when you are bf.

Rhian82 · 19/05/2009 20:36

That's what I was going to say - I've been on the mini pill since my 6 week check and am still breastfeeding. They're a lot more reliable than they were as well, I think there's very little difference between them and the normal pill now.

star6 · 19/05/2009 20:37

I think I'll do condoms.... never used a condom before. This should be an exciting shopping trip

LOL about MNing in bed with swine flu

I'll start a thread csws, great idea - but will do so in a few days when they are feeling more on top of things

jenwa · 19/05/2009 20:38

heather same date I go back too and 1 hour less then me! What days will you be doing? Poor DD too! And yes you should complain if he was dismissive of you, they should have checked them, good job you checked. They just would not have worked if ood but neverless, you need them to work!

Waiting for DH to bring some yummy food in, he has had a realy shit day and is stressed and is at his mums telling her about it at the mo. I am fuming as its all stressy with his work, He is running that place and getting no wages and this month should be and now another bloke who has put money in the buisness is calling the shots and appears to be lowering DHs salary when it was all agreed. So unimpressed! DH needs to put more money into the buisness to be an equal partner but its hard when you are not being paid! He has practically built the new unit and decorated it and spend 7 days a week setting it up and being there, missing out on Phoebes developemt, no holiday and sooo much stress! He even had more than 15 missed calls and about 5 emails yesterday whilst at my Grans funeral from this bloke regarding stupid stuff, this bloke then asked him how it went and then said "oh well life goes on" I am soooo cross with it all. Just want DH to get what he deserves as he has worked so bloody hard. This bloke has put money in as he is a friend of DHs old boss who now has terminal ca and wants to secure his familys future which we have no issues with but this guy now wants to have a salary from it and be a big part of it when he agreed to only be putting money in it to help set it up. Sorry, all confussing and long winded but sooo bleeding stressful!! ahhhhhh!!!

jenwa · 19/05/2009 20:39

star go to family planning and get them free

star6 · 19/05/2009 20:42

I was on the pill for 7 years and dr told me (in america before I left when I had been on it 3 years) that I was on it too long and it would have negative impact on my health and that of future children.

I don't want to do the pill again though. Will try condoms.

I tried to go for a smear test today. Attempt 4, .... failed I've sorted sex with DH now (spoke with a sex therapist for a few weeks) but can't seem to allow anyone / anything else in that space still... what is wrong with me??? Felt like such a big fat loser too because Q was there in pushchair smiley and quiet waiting for me while I was a total train wreck. Nurse tried... then asked for midwife to help relax me... then the head gp at the clinic (a male... which totally freaked me out!)

Marthasmama · 19/05/2009 20:43

I have too much to catch up on! It's not quite the epic amount Hmm had but eeeek!
