lbb - my sister's coming round and I'm definately going to try and have a nap!

it's too quiet here, dp's gone out with ds1, dd's at playschool and aaron is asleep upstairs.

it's unnerving!

he slept by himself from 9pm last night to 6.40 this morning

dinkystinky · 07/05/2009 09:51

Pink - Danny slept from 7ish until 5ish this morning (just waking to sneeze and cough and splutter in the night several dozen times then going straight back to sleep) - suspect all the screaming and refusing to sleep during the day wore him out! My boobs were fit to explode though... Enjoy the peace and quiet while you can, you know it wont last long...

LBB - you're obviously so knackered that your body needs the sleep. Hopefully you'll be back to waking up with the boys tonight as your body got the extra rest last night. Especially if you get a snooze in while your dad is over.

dinky, he just woke up, choked at the fast flow boob so i expressed and gave it to him in a bottle, he drank 2 sips and then wailed and is now happily lying on my lap chattering at ds1

so basically he'd rather go hungry than feed at that boob or a bottle

dinkystinky · 07/05/2009 11:03

hmm, Aaron seems quite a strong willed little man... probably good thing being the youngest of three I guess.

Feeling v virtuous as while Danny naps (his second hour long nap of the day, hurrah) I have just been sorting through DS1's old baby clothes in the loft - I dont think I'm going to have to buy Danny any new clothes until he's 3 at this rate but am going to have to buy him his own chest of drawers in the next month or so as I have 2 massive bags full of 6-12 month clothes What was I thinking of - DS1 cant possibly have needed all those clothes! Though they are all very cute of course

PinkTulips · 07/05/2009 11:36

pfb syndrome i think, dd had vast mountains of clothes and my friend gives me her boy's (only child) hand me downs and there are no less than 25 pairs of pants in the same size handy for OPT though

mslucy · 07/05/2009 11:40

at pfb syndrome

poor Stan has hand me downs from DS1 and cousins, plus the odd think from sales/ebay.

He has a grubby old buggy and his older brother's cot, baby gym etc.

Having said that he has a much more experienced mum who has sorted out her work/life balance plus a dad who goes out on the piss a lot less than he used to.

mslucy · 07/05/2009 11:40

think = thing.
one handed typing while holding breast pump.

PinkTulips · 07/05/2009 11:47

yeah, poor dd had lots of clothes but a clueless mom.

ds1 had lots of cheap clothes and a frazzled but slightly more experianced mom

aaron has hardly any clothes (have just realised he's grown out of all his babygroes), dirty faded toys but a mom who actually knows what she's doing

Calico1 · 07/05/2009 11:57

hi all - having a struggle of a day with Lilian - up since 3.30am and can't seem to settle her. She is on gaviscon for reflux which has been really good but I think she is getting constipated as there has been lots of purple faced straining!
V of all your babies that are sleeping through.....

Quick question....I need to buy a new car (well second hand one) as my current car is ancient (older than me!) and I can't fit double buggy in the boot. I've always driven v old cars so have no idea about new cars and what to look for.....what do you lot recommend? It needs to be small and nippy (as I am rubbish at parking anything big) but have a big boot space.

dinkystinky · 07/05/2009 12:11

MsLucy - Danny is like Stan in that he's inherited all his big brothers old stuff. Only new things I've bought is a maclaren which I can stick a buggyboard on for DS1 (so needed something a bit sturdier than the cheap and cheerful stroller DS1 currently tootles around in), a second bouncer to keep upstairs (as got fed up of carrying the single bouncer we had up and down the stairs) and a sling - everything else is second hand. Though agree that Danny is probably better off by having a more experienced mum..

Lilian was wearing her big brothers babygros for a few weeks....poor little soul!

dinkystinky · 07/05/2009 12:15

Calico - we ended up going from a mini cooper to an audi estate (and we dont even have a double buggy ). My neighbours with a double buggy went from a VW golf to a renault espace - so I think the key thing is to figure out how big a boot space you will need for your double buggy.

Other than that parking sensors are great if you end up getting a slightly larger car than you're used to/comfortable with (we test drove a car that had a camera in the back that came on when you went to reverse park so you could see exactly where you're going - that was wierd!) and power steering helps too with parking. My dad is a huge toyota fan as his toyotas have always lasted for years and been v reliable.

Luke too is a hand-me-down child, the only annoying thing is the seasonal difference.
I bought Luke some summer romper suits, but that was from a gift voucher we were given, so I haven't bought Luke anything apart from nappies and formula. Oh and a teddy before he was born.
Dp has even said that for this xmas coming, he wants to wrap up some of ds1's old toys for Luke so we don't have to buy him anything then
I know we're not rolling in it, but things aren't that bad, the tight git!

Calico1 · 07/05/2009 12:32

Hmm - I was thinking about a VW Golf..but will need to check the boot size. I'll have to take the buggy along to a car showroom and try and shove it in!

Cocodrillo · 07/05/2009 12:35

Have googled "morning vomiting" in children and it comes up with "symptoms of brain tumour" so I am totally paranoid about DD2 now. I couldn't sleep last night. Am going to take her to doc, hsve got myself in a right state. That's all she needs!

swampster · 07/05/2009 13:25

Step away from the google, Coco! I had a go too and while I am no expert, it is far more likely to be something utterly benign. If it is more serious, something nasty but infinitely treatable like like pyloric stenosis or a malrotation is more likely.

dinkystinky · 07/05/2009 13:44

Or Coco it could just be a delayed reaction to something she ate the night or day before or something else totally benign. Am hoping the doctor can put your mind at rest.

Calico - my neighbour said the double buggy (a phil & teds if memory serves right) was fine in the VW golf boot but there was no space for anything else - e.g. shopping - so they ended up getting an enormous car instead. She's still pining for her golf though...

mumoverseas · 07/05/2009 13:50

afternoon all,
coco, MS is right, google is bloody dangerous. The number of times I self diagnosed life threatening/ending illness when I was pregnant is ridiculous. AND, I'm still here
I'm sure she is ok. Take her to the gp for some reassurance but please try not to worry too much as you will make yourself ill otherwise and be no use to her.

All a bit boring in KSA at the moment. H is growing like a weed, so is DD2 come to think of it so I've been having a massive clear out and also clearing out DS1 and DD1's old clothes.
I never used to know what to do with old clothes here whereas in the UK they'd go to a charity shop. However, I've now discovered that our lovely new nanny is very grateful for any old clothes which she distributes amongst her friends so when she comes in on Sunday she'll have bags and bags to take home. Am wondering if the nesting has finally kicked in?

I've foolishly offered to work tonight on security as the british school year 11 are having their end of school prom on our compound. There are new security rules for all visitors involving searches, metal detectors and 'wanding' and as there are around 200+ kids coming I think I'll be pretty busy. Its on a voluntary basis and I did it for a few hours last weekend for the rock concert but on the bright side, the compound security manager is pushing for the company to employ paid female security officers to work on an ad hoc basis when there are functions so my theory is that if I'm 'known' to the security manager I could be first in line for any job, particularly as he knows I'm ex 'job' (police)
You wouldn't believe what we confiscated last week. Kitchen knives (why???), screwdrivers, drugs and even REAL gin and vodka!

right, off to do some more tidying then cook tea

PolkSaladLucie · 07/05/2009 15:40

Calico we too have a very good indicator when we need to change M's nappy, and yesterday I ran out of gaviscon, so she had a few bottles without, an I was quite surprised to see a dirty nappy when I hadn't seen the 'poo face'! In terms of cars, the boot space in a Honda Jazz is very impressive, and they are so little and nippy, and very flexible with folding seats etc. Do you have a side by side double pram or a tandam?

I'm effing fuming here. We ordered a new Graco travel system (cos we could get the whole thing for the same price as the Maclaren XLR) and tried it out yesterday. we took it out to the car to fit and I wasn't happy with the fit of the car seat, and the pram itself didn't fit in John's boot, so we needed to return it. I contacted the company who said that would be fine, but when I said we had wheeled it to the car they said that would make it non-returnble. Does that sound right to you? We had researched the size and tried out lardy's Graco which fits, but I guess it was still our error, but should they refund?

dinkystinky · 07/05/2009 15:42

They should refund or at the very least offer store credit if it is not fit for purpose PSL. With the wheeling to the car, was M in it? If not, just say that you took it out to the car to fit it - wasnt used therefore shouldnt be any problem with the refund...

I had a lovely day today until we got home. Went to Leeds castle with friends and DD was sliding down a hill on her bum.. In the car on way home I can smell poo and I think she needs changing. Get home and get her out of her carseat. She sits on sofa and I smell poo again so ask her to stand up and all down her bum and legs of jeans is poo.. Not her poo but animal poo... yuck I think it is fox poo which contain toxoplasm (sp?) So I have had to clean sofa, carseat, pushchair, clothes, carpet the lot this afternoon....

PSL that is really bad. Have you tried the base with the carseat? I needed one and only £30....

Let us know how it goes if you do return it then you can just keep my one. i would have offered but thought you wanted a different one...

dinkystinky · 07/05/2009 19:32

Oooh, yuck Lardy - that sounds truly horrible!
