Rachie - back in July for 3 weeks, then holidays , then back in September! I think I'll need that 3 weeks just to get back into things and to get used to leaving S. How about you?

Oh and I can answer about the scrambled eggs too. I make it quite firm so that it can be cut into sort of strips long enough that he can grip. You might want to take your own egg out a bit sooner if you like it a bit less solid.

Rhian - we're doing BLW too and like Rachie's ds, my ds isn't actually eating much, but he's really enjoying it. Today's (rather eclectic) lunch was broccoli spears dipped in hummous, rice noodles, roasted butternut squash and courgette.

Right - must stop procrastinating and start listing all my stuff on Ebay.

RachieW · 10/05/2009 16:12

Aubergenie- I'm back in Sept but doing some contact days in the last term. I had planned to go back in June but the Nursery that ds is going to couldn't take him until Sept. Quite glad now as June seems very close and Sept years away

Thanks for the scrambled egg tip, I'll try that next time. He/we are having roast this evening. Quite excited to see how chicken is received!

Rhian82 · 10/05/2009 16:27

Sounds like I should step up then, DS is currently only on 2 meals a day. Going to be a nightmare on days I work though, will have to get up an extra 1/2 hour or so earlier! Mind you he never has that big a milk feed in the morning, he's just really easily distracted and not that interested, so we'll have to see how he goes with a proper breakfast.

We've gone the puree route as it just seemed the easiest thing, and luckily he's just really taken to everything and gobbles up the spoonfuls very happily. We've tried giving him a bit of finger food but he just waved it around a bit and didn't seem interested in putting it in his mouth.

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/05/2009 18:12

ooh lots to reply to but will do so later as just on phone whilst on way back from friends in twickenham. Think it will be a late night for the dc though, as ds napping now and a fair chance that dd will doze off too.

Quiet here...

DD has 3 meals a day, brekkie, lunch and dinner and 3 bottles, one after brekfast, one mid afty and one for bed although thte bed time one has not all been taken recently.

Been to inlaws for bbq which was nice and they bathed kids too, not dd2. Was there with Bil and co. MIL did ask afew times if DD was in the sun, too hot or too cold etc and asked if she was ok when she had a little cry, all normal things I suppose but kept feeling like I was being questioned! I know if FIL had had her she would have told him to take DD out the sun, put her in a coat, take her coat off etc. She was fine and on my lap and gets overheated often so have to keep her cooler. It was hot and she had a long sleeve top and jeans on so did not want to put a coat on her. sorry just a little rant. Other than that all was lovely and PILs did hav fun with kids, sitting in plastic containers of water and digging in sand. DD1 is shattered and gone off to bed, no playgroup tommorow so she can chill abit. SShe spent the day at Grandmas so they had a nice time and so did she.

star6 · 10/05/2009 20:28

oh twickenham!! You were a 15 minute drive from me, csws

jenwa - how do you make up the bedtime bottle if she doesn't take it? Or do you just not give it at all? I'm not sure if I'm just paranoid about the whole 20oz of milk a day thing... . I'm often just paranoid...

star6 · 10/05/2009 20:40

watching supernanny... ohhhhhh nooooooooo.... 2 year old..... I'm SO SCARED!!!!!!!!!!

RachieW · 10/05/2009 20:49

Hi all- had a good day here, spent some time in the garden and then SIL over for a roast. Ds tasted/sucked/slightly chewed chicken, parsnip, green beans, roast potato (got the funniest face), carrot, strawberry and raspberry. Am so proud of him

Jenwa- rant away, I am fully sympathetic. MIL is great but a bit of a fusser worrier. We are going on hols with them next weekend and I'm preparing myself for similar too hot too cold questioning. I'm also preparing myself for worries that BLW means he's not "eating enough". Am preparing myself by thinking of the worst in the hope it won't be that bad

jenwa · 10/05/2009 21:04

Sorry, my spelling was bad again, sometimes this box I write in hides words and I also type to quick.

star I make up 7oz and just see what she has, sometimes she only has 2 other times she takes the whole 7 so bit hit and miss, I think it just depends on how much she eaten in the day.

rachie Sounds like mine (MIL) I do the same re thinking the worst

sorry dd1 crying...gotto go

Marthasmama · 10/05/2009 21:09

Star - don't worry, the kids on Supernanny are not the norm! DS was adorable as a two year old. It really depends on how you deal with them. They will all have their moments but on the whole they're lovely at that age. Now I've said that M is bound to be a terrible toddler! I missed your question the other day. I give M whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, whole rice etc rather than anything white. DS has whole grain everything and HATES white bread and white pasta which I am very pleased about.

Rachie - I think I'd rather not go on holiday than go with the in-laws. I am such a moaner about them but I think even DH would rather chew is own leg off than go away with his parents!

I'm watching South Pacific. I love natural history programmes. There are Tiger Sharks on at the moment. I bloody love sharks, always have.

Apparently I'm not watching it any more as DH has just come in and put his DVD on.

RachieW · 10/05/2009 21:12

Jenwa- just re-read my post too. How many times can I use preparing in a rant (slopes off to find a thesaurus)

RachieW · 10/05/2009 21:15

MM- I'm sure I'll come back with some good stories for discussion

Marthasmama · 10/05/2009 21:19

Rachie - I actually feel a bit sick at the very idea of having to spend a significant time with my inlaws. I have been on holiday with my SIL but she is lovely and more of a friend, it's the PIL that are the problem. I honestly think I would need to go into therapy if I spent a week with them!

Marthasmama · 10/05/2009 21:20

Myjob - Sorry, forgot to say glad you had a good day and of course you didn't look silly in your dress! Tut!

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/05/2009 21:22

Right, here at last. Ds to bed 8:40 (usually 7ish). Dd probably similar, but not sure as dh went up to lie with her whilst I put ds to bed, and as usual hasn't come back yet!

aubergenie has answered re egg really. I do it like an omelette style really. Have a great little blini pan which fits one egg perfectly, so I scramble it up in there a bit and then leave it to cook through, then flip it over to cook other side, and then cut into strips/wedges for him. I don't add milk or anything like I normally would with scrambled egg, so that it sets well.

Ds has 3 meals a day, and often a snack (breadstick or fruit) too now. He still doesn't eat masses at breakfast time (too much milk in the night!) most days though will consume as many blueberries as I will give him then, but usually does well at other meals. He eats whatever we're having usually, so has experienced chilli (I only make it very mild) with rice, stir fry, roast chicken and veggies, pasta and meatballs (I made these today actually, including lots of mushrooms, celery and carrot in the meatball mix), macaroni cheese (that was my milk challenge, which I need to repeat to test something having spoken to another milk intolerant friend), lamb stew, cottage/shepherds pie blah blah blah.

Where exactly are you star? 2 of my very best friends are twickenham (st margarets), so I am there a few times a year at least. Maybe I will drive to visit you in the summer holidays!

Happy mothers day star .

Pistachio is having some IT issues at the moment so can't get on to read or post, but once I've browbeaten her into installing firefox she'll hopefully be back.

MM- This will be the longest I have spent with them (10 days ). SIL is coming too with dp, they are great. Am sure it will be fab as we do all get along and also dh and I will be able to have some chill out time while ds is with his grandparents. Am just nervous about the fussing worrying and how quickly it will drive me mad

loulou33 · 10/05/2009 21:26

i can't believe how much talking you've done since last night and it was about my favourite topic - shoes. I have managed to whittle my shoe collection down to about 50 pairs now as some of them are so impractical with 2 boys - how often am i going to get to wear 3 pairs of red high heel sling backs on the kinds of holidays i go on??

Heather/MM Yes - Whinfell centre parcs was very posh - there were hundreds of audis estates lined up in the car park (i used to own one btw)! We paid extra for priority check in and you get free spa entry for two (usually £36 each ) so we enjoyed that a lot. Couldn't get treatment though as left it too late and they were fully booked (lots of hen parties there). Are the other centre parcs not as posh then??

Heather - I used to live on Ramsbottom, just up the way from you. I miss being so close to Manchester ....

Star - For the love of God do NOT watch Supernanny, its really bad for your sanity....i have no idea where she finds the familys, i'm sure its all made up and her advice is laughable sometimes. I used to get irrate about her finger wagging in the face of toddlers but i think she's stopped doing that now...thank goodness.

Jenwa - glad DH is ok and its just bruising - he's bound to milk it though, i would!! Sorry that your MIL is driving you mad. mine is still being a bit off with me since teh incident a few weeks ago. We saw them last week and i'm sure FIL was a bit sniffy with me too - ho hum.

Whoever asked (star??) Yes Joe slept well at Centre parcs. The cot was lower than his at home and the first night he looked a bit bewildered to be so low down but i took our own blankets and his fluffy doggy so he soon settled.

Joe has been waking earlier and earlier each morning - 4.30am today - which i don't think is connected to the holiday. He's so tired at bedtime, he's not feeding very well again. He's not taking any milk in the day now and only a feed in the morning and night. I have given him more dairy but in doubt he's having anywhere near 18oz. He's too busy looking at stuff and listening to sounds around the house. I try to feed him away from other people but he's like a radar!! Should i be worried or just let him wean himself off bm?

Marthasmama · 10/05/2009 21:29

CSWS - I forgot to tell you. I tried M on some blueberries yesterday. God the frustration! She was trying to pick them up with her finger and thumb but she can't quite do it. She chased the bloody things round and round her tray until she finally lost it and swiped them all onto the floor. I washed them off and tried again and she just swiped them off again so I gave on the blueberries! She did devour the strawberries I gave her though and cried for some more.

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/05/2009 21:31

Grrr - dh back down and has already royally fucked me off .

Marthasmama · 10/05/2009 21:38

What's he done?

ronshar · 10/05/2009 21:48

at CSWS DH.

I loved the sharks too. Are you watching the history thing about our origins?Brilliant.

I had to watch the new Hannah Montana movie today. Horrible. Girls are a nightmare.

Jenwa glad your DH is ok.

Myjob where are the facebook pics of the dress.

I have some gladiator sandals from NL. Also some red converse. They are so worn out now they are uncomfortable to walk in but really cant bring myself to get rid of them

Marthasmama · 10/05/2009 21:54

Ronshar - I still have my very first pair of Converse from when I was 13 and they still fit! They're green. Amazingly I don't actually have a pink pair! I had to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks. Bloody hell that's a shit film! I was actually getting embarrassed when the 'cool' people were dancing at the chipmunks concert. I told ds to stop dancing, that the chipmunks were not cool.....

heather1980 · 10/05/2009 21:58

god i feel awful today, i am full of a cold and feel like pants. i fell asleep on the sofa this afternoon for 2 1/2 hrs.

we went to the local farmers market this morning and got some fab local produce. i wan knackered when we got back though.
