boodiful shoes jammy. Isn't it ironic that when you have children you spend more on clothes and shoes for them than you do yourself.

I think with clarks, an electronic machine that "measures" feet is no substitute for proper training!! Saying that though, DH was telling me that when one of the supermarkets he has worked for in the past were looking at selling children's shoes, they were worried about not having fitters and whether people would buy them. They got mums to fit their own children's shoes then had the fit checked by a trained fitter and the parents got it right 9 times out of ten. Sooo we should all have more confidence in our ability to tell a shoe that fits from one that doesn't.

DS is objecting to the thought of Doodles. Can't say I blame him as the designs are a bit babyish.

Ria, did DH get home ok?

Fury, how are things with you?

T, I hope you've had a better day today.

I seem to miss half of everything that's said on here as I only have time to skim read....apologies.

If either of the 2 Clarks in reasonable distance from us had had a Doodles style in in her size I'd have been happy. Although none of the clarks styles excited me, I'd have had any had they been the right size apart from a white pair. I am also at the cost, and have now learnt to plan ahead so we don't get caught in the "these shoes don't fit and we need new ones now and the only ones we can get this week are £46" situation again. However, I do love them and she seems to as well. She was showing them off to a lady on the bus coming home And although she can take them off she hasn't all day other than for swimming.

OK Half hour more work to do and then I'm done for the week

Ohforfoxsake · 23/04/2009 21:12

They are lovely. I must admit I am always a little at children with lovely shoes.

objectsintheRIAviewmirror · 23/04/2009 21:46

it's girls shoes with me

DH not home yet...

only 1 child currently in our bed, clean sheets, towels and dressing gown for DH, and downstairs restored to it's usual chaotic order, but I hoovered, and the kitchen is as clean as it was when DH guilt-cleaned it before he left. And the dirty linen basket is almost level with the top now, rather than overflowing (as DH will notice when he goes into the consevatory and gets suffocated by the ironing pile)

TALLULAHBELLE · 23/04/2009 21:47

Evening. My friend came round tonight with her 2 'big girls'. They bathed all my wee ones, did nappies & jammies & read to DD in bed.Did my dishes & made me a cuppa. By 8:30 all was quiet & I haven't heard a peep since. Bliss [grin[

at the cost of shoes Jammy but they are so lovely. Yay for green, hard to find anything not white or pink. DD in need of summer shoes but am hoping to spend a lot less. Had her feet measured in Clarks this week & she is now a 4. There's not much in that size, but at least her wellies fit now Daisy.

objectsintheRIAviewmirror · 23/04/2009 21:53

aww, tiny feet Tbelle. How lovely of your friend too. I was talking to a mum at church today who made me think of your bump photo. She is tiny, but is having twins and has 10 weeks to go - apparently she scares people in shops2! I did think of Mnet when people were telling her how big her bump was and stuff. Sounds like her consultant wants her to have a CS.

TALLULAHBELLE · 23/04/2009 21:56

Whenever I hear of anyone having a twin pg I just think poor soul. I felt like a beached whale for the last trimester.

LackaDAISYcal · 23/04/2009 21:58

wow Tallulah.....what a great friend

like the name ria....but how about just RIAviewmirror? or was that the "short" version that you don't like?

yay for wellies that fit. We got DD some lovely sparkly pink wellies, but she insists on wearing these manky frog ones that used to be DS1's.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 23/04/2009 22:02

Jamlet has tiny feet too. Clarks said a 3.5, the shops we ended up buying from said a 20, which I think equates to a 4. The ones we bought ended up being a 21 (4.5). Apparently her wide feet and high instep means she might often need a slightly bigger shoe to fit (that'll be like me then!) So hopefully they will at least last a while. The last pair have lasted 16 weeks, the ones before that 18 weeks, so I guess we've been fairly lucky really. But I think she may have cheap and cheerful shoes to wear as bridesmaid this summer Especially as white shoes have been requested and I don't really like white shoes.

objectsintheRIAviewmirror · 23/04/2009 22:02

this is the short version

I suppose I could start every post with "may appear closer than they are"?

will have another change soon anyway.

Wish DH would hurry up, I feel I have to wait up tonight, but I don't want to.

objectsintheRIAviewmirror · 23/04/2009 22:03

Baggins was a 6.5F when we last had him measured.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 23/04/2009 22:05

And yes, your friend sounds lovely Tallulah. Hope you get a fairly restful rest of night too.

DH's firm is doing fairly well, and so they're taking bonuses soon. So he's looking to be frivalous. I suggested a swanky meal and night away. He said I'd have to put out . Then he said maybe we should be less frivalous and I'd have to settle for a pasty, a belgian bun and a cold drink from Greggs. But that I'd still have to put out! I said I'd only flash him my tits for that He didn't look impressed

objectsintheRIAviewmirror · 23/04/2009 22:09

LOL jammy.

TALLULAHBELLE · 23/04/2009 22:10

Jammy.

Sputnik · 23/04/2009 22:11

at negotiotiations in the jam household! Good that they're doing well.

LackaDAISYcal · 23/04/2009 22:43

lol jammy......you want at least a bottle of bollinger and a return visit to Le Manoir if there is any putting out to be done

OP posts:
objectsintheRIAviewmirror · 24/04/2009 07:54

how did it go jammy, did you reach a good deal? (I do have to confess, when you say funny things about your DH my mind kind of wanders back to him choosing the Secret Santa in his own inimitable way)

might start similar negotiations here, but not today, DH is bidding in an auction for varying bits of kitchen porn, don't want him to get carried away

TheNatty · 24/04/2009 07:59

morning all, things been hectic here and its taken me ages to catch up!

shoes ellen is a 5 now, she has various pairs of shoes from random places, including clarks, shoe zone and tescos.

sorry for all the poorly children and adults, hayfever, hurt backs and necks. we are a sickly bunch atm!

lol @ jammy "putting out" for a nice meal, my DH always says things like that!!

ellen got woken up by a wash stinging her this morning thats 2 in 2 days getting into the house and i dont know how
poor ellen, she was so scared, she wont go near her bedroom now.

TheNatty · 24/04/2009 07:59

morning ria!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 24/04/2009 08:06

Poor Ellen, Natty

I think we are going back to the Manoir and for an overnight stay as well Just need to persuade my ILs to come and look after jamlet.

TheNatty · 24/04/2009 08:08

lol jammy, you WILL have to put out then

oooh i am very would adore a night off

(mind you i would prob crash out at 8pm)

objectsintheRIAviewmirror · 24/04/2009 08:14

sounds nice jammy

I am apparently getting £50 to spend in M&S. DH had to take part in a "cook off" while he was away, and he won, but it seems the guy in charge (DH thinks he was a celeb chef, but has never heard of him) might have baked the voucher into his pie

oh well, I can wait

sounds nasty about the wasp natty.

suppose I should stop idling and get the kids ready ... DH wants to go into town

objectsintheRIAviewmirror · 24/04/2009 08:15

he can feck off though, he keeps going on about all the food he's eaten while he's been away

TheNatty · 24/04/2009 08:35

im off to the doctors with tom, getting him checked as he keeps telling me his dinkle is sore, and keeps having accidents.
just want to make sure its not an infection or anything.

objectsintheRIAviewmirror · 24/04/2009 12:31

been and done the shop for the weekend, wandered round town and bought vitamins for the kids.
DHis in a grumpy huffy sort of mood now. he needs a slap. if he's going to be like this all afternoon I hope he gets called in to work tonight
