where did you go jammy?

HellHathNoFury · 23/04/2009 13:00

what were you looking for that Clarks didn't have? (curious)

vaRIAtyisthespiceoflife · 23/04/2009 14:30

I've just had a text from DM. Her and DF at at/on the top of here. Am (cos they didn't think they were fit enough for the "big ones") and cos I want to be there too.

I need to find out when DH is leaving Carlise so I know how long I've got to tidy up

LittleMissNorty · 23/04/2009 15:16

Blimey Ria - that looks lovely. With my back as bad as it is atm I struggle to do more than an hour round town atm, let alone walks like that.....one day....(after the osteopath has bankrupted me!)

DD is sending me nuts......DH said to me the other day that he prefers toddlers (....assume he does like DS though?)....well that's good, cos I think I prefer babies ...

Bumperlicioso · 23/04/2009 15:29

Hello all

Ria, sorry about your DH's job woes the past few days. I completely get where you are coming from, we spent years being held to ransom by DH's job. It's hard not to get angry with them.

ATM I am trying (not very hard) to be sympathetic with DH who is really run down and has been prescribed anti-biotics and told to take it easy. It's hard to be sympathetic when I know that it means twice the work for me, doing the cooking, washing up, housework, dealing with DD etc.

Thanks for the replies on my thread about DD weeing btw. Haven't had a problem since, though she was very upset about her next bath, but calmed down once in it. They are so exhausting at this age!

Sputnik · 23/04/2009 16:03

Yes, it's not until you have a toddler that you realise the baby was easy!
That said I do like toddlers though, even though they get disproportionally upset at random things.

Bumperlicioso · 23/04/2009 16:15

'disproportionally upset at random things' sooo true Sputnik!

No, DD, the dolly shoes will not fit on Dancing Iggle Piggle - there's nothing more I can do about!

vaRIAtyisthespiceoflife · 23/04/2009 16:33

think I have just made a rod for my own back - baggins walked all the way to school, went to the park and walked nearly all the way back (obviously takes after his GPs). we are goin to have to set off earlier for everywhere.
Now to keep him awake til bedtime...

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 23/04/2009 17:05

Well done Ria's parents!

And LOL at disproportionally upset quote. We're getting familiar with that here too.

Had a good day, my aches and pains are all subsiding. Jamlet loves her new shoes (thank f for that for what they cost!) All I wanted was pair of shoes, not sandals, that fitted and weren't white. But Clarks couldn't seem to offer that, so I tried a local retailer who were rather pricey, but gave such good service I decided it was worth it. And Jamlet now has a pair of shoes that don't seem to hurt her, which is good. And they are green

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 23/04/2009 17:10

And go go Baggins as well!

We wenr swimming this afternoon too. Jamlet had such fun. But my heart was in my mouth a few times as she ran off staggering through the shallows looking like she was going to fall and go under any second. Actually she did twice, but thankfully I was just a few inches away and could pull her up before she inhaled too much any water. She didn't seem bothered by it though

objectsintheRIAviewmirror · 23/04/2009 17:12

green shoes, and you "shopped local"

me neither norty, I would be paying for it big time, our walks are all gentle.

am narked cos my new name is too long, and the short version is naff. Am thinking...

objectsintheRIAviewmirror · 23/04/2009 17:13

DS2 used to climb out and run off and then jump back in again (I expect he was 2-3). Last time we went swimming I had horrific sciatica, and swimming made it worse, so that (and being fat) have put me off going).

LittleMissNorty · 23/04/2009 17:15

Oh Jammy....£46 for a pair of shoes .

DD lost her rag with me today because I took 2 pegs out of the peg bag that she was playing with ....so that made me as well Sputnik....

and yes, exhausting is a good word for it Bumper...relentless is another....

LittleMissNorty · 23/04/2009 17:16

I like it Ria

objectsintheRIAviewmirror · 23/04/2009 17:18

thanks Norty, I just feel it's a bit lame without the end bit.

(I was thinking about frilly shirts for DH for the weekend - and how he hasn't got one - and that made me think of Meatloaf)

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 23/04/2009 17:19

When I say green I mean colour, not commenting on the ethical status or otherwise.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 23/04/2009 17:23

New shoes are like this only bright green.

objectsintheRIAviewmirror · 23/04/2009 17:23

not that DH is porky and sweaty with long hair

objectsintheRIAviewmirror · 23/04/2009 17:24

those are lovely jammy, they look really soft and comfy

baggins will be getting Doodles.

LittleMissNorty · 23/04/2009 17:29

I bought DD a pair of sandals yesterday for buggering about in the garden in....£6 from Asda .

I'm not sure I could ever be persuaded to spend that, although they are lovely.

I'm lucky to live very close to a designer outlet which has a Clarkes and everything is half the price than the Clarkes in town

Sputnik · 23/04/2009 17:30

Lovely shoes Jammy. Just have to hope her feet don't grow too fast!
Must say I've never been impressed by clarks girl's shoes either.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 23/04/2009 17:40

If Clarks had had something in the right size I'd have happily paid less than I did, but they didn't. And tbh they didn't seem to pay any heed to the fact that Jamlet has gone from loving her shoes to always pulling them off and the fact that they are now quite difficult to get onto her feet and seem to small, and the fact that their own measure tells them her feet have grown - they still kept telling me her shoes were fine and we didn't need new ones

Ohforfoxsake · 23/04/2009 19:41

I love those shoes, but like Ria, its Doodles for us in the summer too! £12 and you can put them in the washing machine

sorry about all the aches and pains.

Sputnik, you make me . Bang on about toddlers.

Had a fab day today and feeling virtuous for being a good mum.

hay fever setting in here. Oh misery!

HellHathNoFury · 23/04/2009 19:49

We have to replace DS's shoes every 6-8 weeks as he grows so quick or ruins them... those shoes are lovely but at £46

DS's last pair were £15 in the Clarks sale... I don't care what colour I get as they will invariably end up brown and scuffed within a week anyway

They are lovely looking shoes though, and I have no experience of Clarks for girls. And the boys range isn't great.

What I will say though is I have found customer service varies massively between shop to shop, some are very understanding and helpful, some are incompetent. I always ask for a different salesperson if I am unhappy!
