anyone got any idea where I can find a pic of a Regency era string quartet? Google is not helping

LackaDAISYcal · 20/05/2009 20:28

Do I win a prize?

god I've missed being online; I actually enjoyed looking for that

Well done you Daisy!

Jamlet was funny this afternoon. We walked round to the GP surgery to collect my work pass that someone had picked up and handed in there when I dropped it in the street by mistake (Thank you, whoever you are! You saved me a lot of hassle with work ) And I had a bit of an attack of indigestion.

Me: Buurp!
Jamlet: (hitting her chest) uurrggh!
Me: Yes, good girl, Mummy went uurrggh.
Jamlet: (sneezing) atishoo!
Me: Muumy went uurrggh. Jamlet went 'choo.
Jamlet: 'choo, 'choo!

For the rest of the afternoon she kept going "uurrggh, 'choo" periodically and grinning to herself.

Welcome back Daisy

So.... my new kitchen (you are going to wish you hadn-t asked)

I quite fancied red units but it is open plan so in the end we went for boring white with wooden worktops. Then the upper units are that sort of semi transparent glass with aluminium frames. Can-t really find a pic on the ikea site, but if you go to the slide show here then the 12th photo gives a vague idea.

The total effect should look something like this and the whole room should be a bit like this, only with a scattering of Duplo, obviously.

Now you all know what I do online when not MNing!

Sputnik · 20/05/2009 21:35

That-s funny Jammy, DS copied me sneezing the other day too.

LackaDAISYcal · 20/05/2009 21:49

DD says blessoo whenever anyone sneezes; tis very cute.

She also looks quite serious if she doesn't understand anything and then when you explain says "oh, yeah" in a quizzical manner......cracks me up everytime.

I think I might have kitchen envy sputnik. Mine is shite....tis huge, but there is a severe shortage of storage space and it's 25 years old and falling to pieces.

did anyone watch the Apprentice? I want that but the Apprentice lot were selling it for £135 and the competition for £100....I just saw it online for £175

OP posts:
LackaDAISYcal · 20/05/2009 21:52

oops, meant I want that buggy

Sputnik · 20/05/2009 21:54

I wouldn-t be too envious Daisy, it-s tiny!
I saw the Apprentice when we were in the UK so now I know what the fuss was about. Who got fired this week, was it the odious Ben?

LackaDAISYcal · 20/05/2009 21:56

no-one yet in daisy tv land as I'm watching it on Sky plus time delay.

Pleeeeeeese let it be ben he is an odious little shoite...or that bint, whatever her name is...me me me me me the lot of em.

Rialentless · 21/05/2009 07:56

daisy, I LOVE YOU!!! Thanks (I even have the right paint colours for their dresses). You have made my day (now just have to find the time, space and motivation)

sputnik. it's not my usual style but it's gorgeous.

DS2 has a play date here this afternoon (if he convinces me to take him to school) and the level of chaos is . A friend dropped round yesterday and I was mortified (but not enough to do anything aboutit) I tidied the kitchen last night for dinner, and gave DS2 his stuff to take to his room - he has strewn it over the hall floor

Rialentless · 21/05/2009 07:58

the panelling and fireplace are perfect too, I hate doing backgrounds ... is it bedtime yet?

LittleMissNorty · 21/05/2009 08:08

Morning

An apprentice fan here as well and we were watching it on Sky+ slip.....was desperate for Deborah to go, but glad that arrogant twat has gone all the same.

Rialentless · 21/05/2009 09:40

pah. Just got told off for DS2 being late for school. Not very good with DH being a governor apparently

so haven't taken baggins to church group, I can't face any more criticism

HellHathNoFury · 21/05/2009 11:14

Just got back from physio
I do have SPD
yayyyyyyyyyyy!

I am wearing a rather fetching support belt, and have to ice my fanjo 3x a day. EXCELLENT!

Rialentless · 21/05/2009 12:35

the milk has gone off. Maybe now DH will believe me that the fridge isn't working

glad you've got a diagnosis and some treatment going on fury. but too that you're suffering

HellHathNoFury · 21/05/2009 12:56

I am wondering how one ices ones fanjo, and the only solution I can conjure is a mini milk.

LittleMissNorty · 21/05/2009 13:25

Fury......sorry about the SPD but what a picture that paints....i am eating my lunch you know!!

Arse about the fridge Ria - did DH not believe you then?

Beautiful day here.....keep your fingers crossed for good weather on Sunday as I'm doing a boot fair to get rid of all my stuff....NO MORE BABIES in this house

Rialentless · 21/05/2009 14:00

calippo?

DH said the fridge was fine, and it was only a bit odd cos the freezer needed defrosting. which I did and it's made no difference. I can "borrow" the table-top one DM has in her garage, but I can't get it til DH comes home.

Need good weather here too, as I'm likely to be on my own with the boys without a car, til dsis takes pity on me on Monday. Lots of walking I think.

LackaDAISYcal · 21/05/2009 14:46

afternoon all.

sorry about the SPD fury. I was nearly crippled with mine towards the end and it made for a very painful labour; my active labour plans were sidelined as I couldn't move even if I wanted to and the pain didn't go between contractions. If I could do it all over again I think I would have opted for an epidural and hang the risk of it meaning another section!

what no more babies norty???? have you checked your emails today?....tester emails are starting to come out!

ria, our fridge has a drainage hole in the back wall above the salad drawers and it doesn't work well if that gets blocked.....worth a shot?

I hope the weather is nice in fife this weekend as that's where we are headed tomorrow . I'm sooooo sick of all this rain.

OP posts:
Rialentless · 21/05/2009 15:01

thanks daisy, will try that (how do you un block it?) will have to wake baggins to collect DS2 (DH was meant to be home for lunch), though I suppose if I'm 5 mins laste it'll make up the time he missed this morning

LittleMissNorty · 21/05/2009 15:09

No e-mails here

I loved Fife....we had a fab time there last year....have a nice time Daisy....visiting rellies?

Good god, I can barely cope with 2 DCs....3 would finish me off! My theory is, that if I get rid of everything, then that's it, won't feel broody ever again!

DS currently asleep under his play-gym and DD doing all the signs on Something Special

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 21/05/2009 16:05

That drainage hole in our fridge keeps overflowing and filling the bottom with water

Just had v stressy afternoon taking Jamlet swimming. To cap it all I was and to be told off for combing my hair in the cafe. Especially as she said it like I was some king of low life scum for even thinking of doing it.

LackaDAISYcal · 21/05/2009 16:13

ours has a little plastic plunger that came with it; the gunk that comes out is disgusting (and we keep food in there, bleargh)

If the rellies can spare us the time norty ....just typed a big rant and then deleted it; suffice to say I feel like after having made the effort to go up and visit them, I feel like I'm putting everyone out by wanting to see them

OP posts:
LittleMissNorty · 21/05/2009 16:23

Oh that's horrible Daisy ...rant away, makes you feel better......you'll have to take your kids to all your old haunts and reminisce....and do some sight-seeing.

I sometimes wonder if I will continue to see my sister when my mum is no longer around....

I have just fed DS and DD sat next to me, pulled off her socks and done a spot of toe picking.....at one point she found some red fluff and exclaimed "oh my god!" .....then she proceeded to try and do in-between my toes . Children are so revolting!

What do you all call their private bits....whenever her nappy is off she, she points her fingers saying "mary" . She grabbed hold of DSs willy as well in the bath last night and was flipping it from side to side

Bollox to the woman in the cafe Jammy....

LackaDAISYcal · 21/05/2009 16:53

jammy, as long as you weren't combing your hair over the counter full of food, and it was your food I can't see her problem; and as you had just come out of the pool it would be clean hair anyway

I feel a bit like that Norty; that it was only my mum holding us all together. We stayed at my big big sis's last time, but she got rid of her spare bed so not an option anymore (and she has been ill recently as well). I asked my next oldest sis if we could have a wee tea party for DS1s birthday at her house and she said no because she didn't want to have to clear up two weeks in a row as she had had a party last weekend for her own DS. It would only be us and my oldest sis and my brother and his DD. Not exactly a massive event that needed full scale catering, and difficult for us to have everyone over in a bloody caravan. she was also cagey about a time to fit us in as there is a pre- opening friends and family event at her DH's work (new B&Q warehouse) on Saturday and it's on from 10-4. Surely she isn't going to be there all day? and are we not friends and family? when I mentioned that to her she said grudgingly "I suppose you could come along". This is the sis who never even sent a card when Fin was born and the kids never got a Christmas present from her either. and more than a little bit and wondering why I'm bothering making the effort, but me being me, don't want to say anything about being disappointed incase I piss her off. I phone her every couple of weeks and it usually takes me leaving four messages before she bothers phoning back as well and then a typical convo goes along the lines of me asking how she is, her telling me and then me asking about the kids and her DH and she NEVER once asks how WE are doing.

Why am I doing this again? At considerable expense that we can ill afford?

see.....that's what happens when I get started.

off to cook tea and stop DD from trying to set the house on fire; she had turned the hob on earlier.....under a carton of apple juice It was just starting to smoulder when I got to it and I suppose the consolation was that it was full so would have been self extinguishing
