Here we go then

roll up, roll up for the six month food fest.

Better night here, only two feeds at 1ish and 5ish, but at one point bumble was having a real chat to his blankie. DH was on the sofa and said he couldn't figure out who was talking and thought it was DD until he heard me say "shut up bumble". I have no recollection of it

We've given up with the porridge for a bit as it might have been that upsetting his tummy. He's certainly more cheerful now it's cleared his system.

Just been lurking today but had to say much sympathy to daisy for the spider incident. I have a terrible phobia of them so know completely how terrifying that would have been.

Ceebee74 · 19/04/2009 20:21

Evening

Daisy I am sat here shuddering at the very thought of the spider! I have a massive phobia of them so that would be my worst nightmare - hope you had a stiff drink tonight to recover

Twinkling glad things are back on track and lets hope you can both move forward from here.

Dozy sounds like you have had a lovely time this weekend. I feel like that when DS1 is at nursery...having only one child seems like a breeze

London hope you are having a fab time in CA - am v as America is one place I want to visit and we never got to do it pre-children.

Hi to everyone else

Sam is almost almost rolling over - he can literally get as far over onto his front as is possible but still has his bottom arm stuck under him...hasn't quite worked that bit out yet!

Ceebee74 · 19/04/2009 20:23

Dozy meant to say yay about the FA Cup - am so pleased it is Everton

MonkeyMargot · 19/04/2009 20:41

Hey everyone - sorry for being missing in action! All good here with the Plumster.

Londonboots hope you're having a fab time in San Jose. Are you staying at the Valencia ? Lots of good memories of my trip there 2 years ago! Good little M - what a star. Agree re. the convenience of breastfeeding - so easy just to whip out your bosom. Missing your scrabbling though!

Also agree with chocO that it will be hard to adjust to eating "normal" calories again after giving up BF. Hmm....maybe we should keep going just a little longer...?

twinkling so sorry to hear of your DH troubles. So tough for you - hope you're coping OK.

hana hope you can clear the air with your DH. When we fall out, there is always bad karma - I prefer to shout talk things through; DH prefers to sulk. Hate it.

Lacks ooh your spider story gives me the heebee jeebies....ugghhhhhhhhh!!!

dozy I love Paperchase too. I must spend ££hundreds in there each year.

The Plum - is still super juicy in the thigh department, and a very happy little sausage at the moment. She loves an audience, and any opportunity to show off, e.g. Easter at my parents. So funny! She screeches, giggles and chats the whole time.

Started swimming last week at littledippers (or, as my chum calls it, LittleFkers !!). She loved it - was cooing and chatting to the other babies (they weren't that interested) and was a little superstar. She is loads of fun at the moment, and I feel really lucky and proud .
We've been busy planning our big trip to France - so much stuff to take...looking forward to it but also will miss all the activities we get up to here in blighty. I'm sure we shall find our groove eventually though.

Hope everyone else oK? vbabs you sound happy - good!

coolkat · 19/04/2009 20:47

Daisy, I had the sun problem today and started my first ever thread! I had a parasol but it was a nightmare so I have ordered a shade a bub.

I will let you know what I think.

Ew Rosa I have made an attempt this week to keep up with ironing and just finished this weekends. Now eating pringles!

Hi to everyone else, lurking as going bed early ready for driving to sheffield to the meetup!

MonkeyMargot · 19/04/2009 20:56

coolkat forgot to say hi! Have a brill time at the Sheffield meet-up!!

PinkyMinxy · 19/04/2009 21:01

Helloo all

Barbs love your arses. Sorry you are not getting enough sleep. Do Not Worry about co-sleeping, it is a VERY NORMAL thing to do. I think it's just one of those british nanny type hangups, people still have a vestige of the 'spoiling the baby' myth in the back of their minds. Getting sleep is more important than making sure they sleep in a particular place. They will sleep in a bed or cot eventually. Promise!

Monkey hi! very or your trip to France. and your PLum sounds fabby. ALl my children have been major chatterboxes and very sociable, it's lovely to see.

Daisy- I have one of thsoe shade a babe type things that ties onto the buggies. They do make a complete cover but I think it'sas o
popular with babies/toddlers as raincovers

Londonboots admire your dedication to mnet/scrabble, and glad the plane ride went well.

hello to everyone!x

twinklingfairy · 19/04/2009 21:23

ooh, pinky Hope you are still here.
Did you get your breastfeeding necklace yet?
How long is it?
I am still thinking about making my own.

Honeymoonmummy · 19/04/2009 22:23

Hi all, I got back from my week in Wales today. DH is back in work tomorrow after 2 weeks off and I'll miss him, even tho I've given him a hard time over the last week with my PND moods!

DD sat up unaided and rolled both back to front and front to back since we've been away so she's coming on well. She's 24 weeks on Weds so not long till weaning starts!

Hope everyone is OK.

barbareebaa · 19/04/2009 22:34

hiyer!
W just gone to bed (starts off in cot then when he wakes up I bring him in with me) Am going wrong somewhere with his sleeps as he always zonkoid at 5.30. I usually try to keep him awake but have given up with that since sleeping has gone haywire generally so let him sleep then we had a bath at 8 which was lovely cos after his splash about he went looking for my boob, found it then fell asleep makes me so glad a kept on with bf.

Thanks all for reassurance about co-sleeping. Just feels 'naughty' like it's the slack way of doing things but pinky you are so right and I feel a million times better now and dh found it reassuring too as his workmates told him 'ooh once you bring em into bed you'll never get 'em out' But I love hearing W breathe and the huge grin I get in the morning

daisy Yikes re: spider I once felt a tickle in my ear, stuck my finger in and popped a fat spider in it. I had nightmares for ages and had to sleep with cotton wool in my ears for ages after!

monkey How do! Glad all is lovely with you!

Me and W are loving the park at the mo - feel like monkey so so lucky. he has lost his grump and makes the loveliest noises!

Question - when you have another pregnancy is it as special as the first? Sounds stupid but it's hard to believe I could love another as much as I do Will.

Right. Teatime!!

Ooh - found arse on internet - am not that clever!

barbareebaa · 19/04/2009 22:38

Sorry honeymoon x-post! Glad you had a lovely holiday and wow dd sitting up and rolling!!

vbab78 · 19/04/2009 22:42

Really sorry ladies but cant catch up on the posts since Fri. Hope to catch up in person on some things at the north meet up tomorrow. Still monkey bizness at 10.30? Who's coming? Shall I do name badges. I would like to apologise in advance if I get wrong or forget mumsnet names or real names or past history or family info. Honest it isnt that I dont care or dont listen I honestly have a s**t memory and can forget things moments later. I regularly will walk into a room and forget what I going for or saying to someone . Looking forward to seeing you ladies .

I've had a good weekend and had a proper family time. With the exception of the (very) odd bad word with DH and DS being emotional things have been fab. Not been so good in a long while. Although this aft I have felt "down" for no apparent reason .

Hugs to any ladies who require them and massive apologies for not reading the two last days of posts. REALLY SORRY. Hope not missed anyone who needed me.

ruthosaurus · 19/04/2009 22:59

Hey ladies,

I am so hoping I can come tomorrow but I am feeling really achy and poorly tonight (joints, throat, queasy), and that's after two naps and doing naff all all day. DH said "I don't understand it. The merlot should have worn off by now". Nice. I am going to do my darndest to make it as I will probably be fine in the morning and I will feel awful dragging people over to Sheff otherwise. I am such an (|). Let's hope the Fin gives me an easy night.

Vbab, I am exactly the same. Last time I forgot to do introductions and tried to work it out during conversations. I am bad with both names and faces. (|) Sorry, just loving arse emoticons...

Monkey, good to see you!

Lacks, just about to find out what your spider trouble was. Brrr. Hate 'em. I had a near-barbs experience once, not quite in the ear, but still.

Off to catch up then paracetamol and bed, I think.

ruthosaurus · 19/04/2009 23:09

Just caught up again - well done, Twink. And men do seem to have this weird reaction to a baby arriving, don't they? DH played on the computer for the 2nd week of his paternity leave and got stroppy if I "interrupted" him. He is about 12 sometimes. Other times he is the best - still, it keeps things interesting, eh? I mean, who wants to be treated like a princess the whole time?

Lacks - I was right - ew ew ew ew ew ew ew. I would shave my head. Hope you sleep well, with some kind of mozzie net, maybe?

Right, gtg, my eyes now hurt

vbab78 · 19/04/2009 23:14

ruth - sending get well vibes. I've felt like that today too. Not been sure whether coming down with something, exhaustion, my bottle of wine last night hick or that i have felt down this aft. Probably all of the above! Hope to see you tomorrow.

twinklingfairy · 19/04/2009 23:59

OMG daisy I can't believe I missed that! Yuck! Makes me shiver just thinking about it!!
brrreuch!

Yup, barbs I am getting stronger at resisting my mum and her attempts to stop my co-sleeping.
She is convinced that I would get more sleep with DS in his own bed. But I don't see how, if I am up and down like a yo yo, to comfort him.
I agree with pinky doesn't matter where they sleep as long as they do, and so do you.

On the sleeping patterns, does W sleep for long (at 5.30) if you let him?
J norm has a snooze about then too. Perfect for making and, if I cook fast enough, eating dinner.
Then night time routine kicks in about 715. Actually not 'about'; at 715, on the dot, J kicks off. Shouting and screaming, interval for bathtime, then more shouting until he is fed and put down. Then more shouting when he realises he has been put down 2-3 visits later and he finally settles.

Thats a lot of shouting
But my wee man does enjoy a shout.
So jealous of happy gurgling babes. My DD was, still is, one of them.
I guess J will just be a more considered little boy. You get your smiles just not as often as I, or DD, give them.

Oops there is me with my midnight rambles again.

coolkat · 20/04/2009 07:54

Just a quick one to check that meet up still on before I leave at 8.30!

Oblomov · 20/04/2009 08:04

Morning.
Love the arses Barbs.
Missed that Londonboots was off to the states. so jealous. Have a fab time. let us know what you are buying at all those outlet villages and boutiques. missing you on scrabble, already.
Hope twinkling and her dh are doing o.k.
Off for school run. We all had trouble getting up today, after 2 weeks of eater hols.

vbab78 · 20/04/2009 08:14

coolkat · 20/04/2009 08:28

Obs I struggled to!

serendippity · 20/04/2009 09:35

morning everyone

twinkling glad things are improving a little.
daisy EURGH!!! i hate spiders, i would have absolutly freaked!
londonboots glad you're having a lovely time,, I think your brave to do it with a bub so young, Not too sure how dylan would handle a plane journey...
barbs Arses are brill
get well soon ruth

I am knackered. Had no sleep last night, not dylans fault at all he slept through, i just could not sleep! Woke up at 2.30am and that was it until 5.00am then dylan woke at 6.10am. I am a zombie, still dd at school tomorrow so i'll be able to nap when dylan does hopefully
Will write more later, I've got to get ready to crawl to tesco now, then we have a playdate..unless i fall asleep on the keyboard. Why isn't there a sleepy emicon? this is a parenting website! We need one!

x

5inthebed · 20/04/2009 11:09

Hope those who are doing the meet up have a lovely time!

Daisy I would have dropped dead if that were me, I hate spiders.

Another bad night, I'm beginning to lose the plot! DS2 back at school today, DS1 back tomorrow. Finally a bit of peace!

barbareebaa · 20/04/2009 12:17

Yes!
W has just pooped himself and it's dh's nappy change mwahahahahaha means I have time to say 'hi'!
Hope the northern meet up ladies are having a jolly time!
Love that obs called the hols 'eater' hols is mostly what I've been doing!
twinkling glad you are able to stick up for yourself re: sleeping arrangements. Am starting to feel quite empowered about co-sleeping (thanks to you guys) and have been reading a few articles by paediatricians (sp?) who recommend it and now feel it is the right choice for us. I think will let W have a nap at 5.30 also now - seems silly to try to push him to do what I want him to then when it's the only time of day I do - me wanting to have a bit of evening time. It didn't work out anyway and last night when I did let him nap he settled far quicker at bedtime so am going to go with that for a while!
Oooh! Am a happy girl! Is it the weather?

Any nervous flyers (fliers?) Dh's parents live in france - they would like us to go visit but am terrified of flying - have flown before but the last time I walked off the flight and asked a baggage man to take me back to the airport Did get on eventually and drank a lot but is not an option now!! They know about my phobia and have asked us to look at carhire and ferry prices (they would pay you see) but it seems very selfish as air tickets are so cheap. Anyone got any ideas as to what to do? I really really really want to go but am sooo scared!

Oof! Dh is taking W out for a walk!! Have internet pass for an hour! yay! Or maybe I should hoover

barbareebaa · 20/04/2009 13:28

p.s. Anyone know how to get rid of milky vomit stain (on carpet!)

vbab78 · 20/04/2009 13:51

Had lovely time at the north meet up for the limited time I was there . Massive apologies for having to leave before everyone else feel really bad and low about it. Got back for Ryan at nursery 1pm dead on. PHEW. I hope that none of you ladies found me weird or any other negatives. Just that I am beyond paranoid and nervous when meeting people for the first time (prob 2nd and 3rd too). I'm one of those needy people who wants people to like her and is crap in social situations.
Bugger better go Ryan has come in and has started pushing Alyssa around the kitchen in her UFO walker. She finds it funny and is laughing but it scares the s**t out of me.
Currently trying, not very successfully, to eat spag on toast whilst Ryan is shouting at me to watch him blow bubbles and Alyssa starting to cry for her feed.
