Here we go then

roll up, roll up for the six month food fest.

Better night here, only two feeds at 1ish and 5ish, but at one point bumble was having a real chat to his blankie. DH was on the sofa and said he couldn't figure out who was talking and thought it was DD until he heard me say "shut up bumble". I have no recollection of it

We've given up with the porridge for a bit as it might have been that upsetting his tummy. He's certainly more cheerful now it's cleared his system.

vbab not that I was there at the meet up, but you come across as a lovely, caring and warm person!! Certainly NOT a weirdo!!!!

Don't be so hard on yourself eh chick xx

Rosa · 20/04/2009 13:59

Barbs - Bicarb of soda rub in make a sort of paste leave for a bit if you can until it dries out and then hoover up . I had to do it a couple of times but its gone. If youcan get biacrb on as soon as poss after vomit before its dry ...Works miracles!

vbab78 · 20/04/2009 13:59

Didnt get chance to say ... all the babies and siblings were gorg. Loved especially holding the babies.
BAD MUMMY ALERT ... Whilst writing this post Ryan has fell down outside and cut the bottom of his nose. Hes ok luckily. Cant be bothered to finish my lunch now.

suiledonn · 20/04/2009 14:12

Hi all, hope the northerners enjoyed the meet-up.
Twinkling Glad things have improved a bit. As regards co-sleeping we did it with dd1 (in fact just trying to settle her in her own room these nights and she is about to turn 3) and also co-sleeping with Amy for part of the night anyway. I had a little side car cot for her but she has outgrown it so I have the big cot against the bed now. I usually feed her to sleep, then lay her into the cot. If she wakes during the night (she always does then I feed her lying down and leave her beside me. I love sleeping next to my babies and I think if it works for you then who cares what everyone else thinks. When dd1 was younger she was in hospital for a few days and I met two women with dd's the same age as dd1. They were both co-sleeping with their little ones too. It was the first time I met someone who didn't treat me like a mad woman for doing it.

Sorry that turned into a bit of an essay.

Barbareeba I am a nervous flier too. I can summon up my courage to go but I always get really stressed about the return journey, thinking what would happen if I just couldn't get back on the plane again. I have improved a bit the more flights I have done but I hate the whole experience. It doesn't help that DH falls asleep the minute we board a plane, he rarely makes it to takeoff. lol If it really upsets you and the in-laws understand then go for the car/ferry option.

Oh gosh I am so selfish, what happened with you and your DH hana?
Me and mine had a huge bust up on Friday but have talked things through in reasonable tones (unheard of) and are feeling very proud of ourselves now.
I kept my co sleepping habits from my HV for the first 6 weeks, then yold her once she was no longer coming round to my house.
How daft was that!? Like, if she had been in my house at the time I told her, she would have stopped me, but not out of it
Anyway, she was totally cool with it, even encourage it, wish I had been honest in teh first place.
I am soooo rubbish at concealing things, makes my heart go all funny and I get all shifty. So sending out clear signals of secret keeping. I just avoid it and tell the truth most of teh time, much easier.

I am having a lovely day, have hoovered, washed floors and dishes, put bread on, made shortbread (I had a hankering)(talking about that, just dashed of to retrieve it, looks yuuum!), DD is upstairs talking to herself and reading books (actually has just shouted to tell me she is doing a poo and a pee thanks for that info DD) and DS is sleeping in his pram, has been for a good long while now.
It is all about to kick off now though, eh?

coolkat · 20/04/2009 15:46

Hey Vbab it was lovely to meet you and you were not crap at all, I just jibber about anything me so you probably thought I was a weirdo! Hope to meet you again sometime and little A was wonderful, so content. X

Had a lovely day and am pooped! Becca messed her nappy as soon as we left sheffield but it was ok as she promptly fell asleep and woke as we hit Melton, Phew!

Check in later.

phee96 · 20/04/2009 15:57

I hope everyone had a lovely time at the Nothern meetup, I wish I could have been there

I think A is showing a definite interest in food, she watches us intently if we are eating and pulled DH's plate onto his lap the other day trying to get a potato wedge I'm still going to hold off on weaning her a little longer as she was only 20 weeks yesterday

The move to her cot has gone ok so far. Saturday night was fab. She was fast asleep by 10 then woke briefly at 4 as she had pooed. I changed her nappy then DH settled her back to sleep. All in all it took about 15 minutes and she stayed down until nearly 8am... all in her own cot. She ended up back in with us at 3am today tho but has been very off kilter all day

LackaDAISYcal · 20/04/2009 15:59

I agree with coolkat vbab, you are lovely and it's a pity it wasn't longer. A was lovely, and so content to sit with us when you went to get Pinky. I'll meet up with you an rutho soon I hope....maybe at the sculpture park or canon hall farm?

DD was asleep before we left the car park and bumble slept most of the way home as well.

We are off in the garden to enjoy the sunshine while we have it.

Lovely meeting you coolkat (and Becca, love her hair!!!) and nice to see Ceebee and Pinky again

Aaah, glad all you lot that met up this morning had a good time, get well soon rutho. Would love to do a meet up with some of you, but Gloucestershire doesn't really fall into a northern or London meet up does it?
barbs totally empathise on the flying front, hate it myself. I do it when I have to. Could you maybe get the train down there? at least then you could get up and walk about a bit?

twinks your post makes you sound like a domestic goddess Can i have a bit of that lovely shortbread, will go nicely with my cuppa?

vbab don't stress, I bet everyone was nervous about how they would appear in RL, I would have done!

hi to everyone else, hope you are enjoying the lovely sunny weather!

chocolategal · 20/04/2009 17:32

Glad the meet up went well

Another lovely day here but just a short walk today as went over my ankle in park yesterday and still a bit sore.
barbs when people ask me if I'm ready for another baby I always say I can't imagine loving another as much as I do DS. I guess you do though.

Talking about loving my DS I loved him this morning at 6 as he had slept since 11! That is a first!! Hopefully not the last though!

Question, the last few days I have started giving E food. Just once a day and normally some veg then banana. He is now constipated, is this normal when introducing food?

PinkyMinxy · 20/04/2009 18:52

Got back just fine from the meetup! Tram v.quick and straight to traim station! Lovely to see everyone- and to mett coolkat and vbab for the first time. Very nice to meet you!

Vbab You are a LOVELY lOVELY person! I am so grateful to you for helping me out. And the way you chatted away toi Mimmi was just lovely!xxxx

Will post later as have verry filthy children in need of bathing!

xx

londonboots · 20/04/2009 19:18

glad you had all had a lovely time at northern meet up!

daisy all my sympathies re: spider. making my skin crawl just thinking about it!! hope you didn't have bad dreams.

serendippity - i think flying when they are very young is much easier than when they are older - that's when they want to get up and move around! we see other parents walking up and down the aisles with toddlers who refuse to sit still for 5 minutes! so i think will be much harder when we go to australia this christmas...

barbs can you take the train? a friend of mine has done some long train journeys with her LO and she says it's great if you can get a seat where W can stay in his buggy so can sleep etc. glad you are happier about the sleeping too.

hana my mother keeps suggesting i start M on solids too and drives me nuts - and that's from 10,000 miles away!!

monkey yes, staying at the valencia - heading down to san jose this afternoon where temperatures are apparently 30+. yikes! fortunately very nice pool at the valencia! although i'm so nervous about taking M into the pool/sun. i have some 50+ sunscreen and would take him in long shorts/top/hat but still...i think it's being australian, we are taught to fear the sun from a very young age!

twinkling glad things are better with your DH.

shopping going to gilroy outlets on wed or thurs...very excited!

juanitad · 20/04/2009 19:32

Glad the meet-up went well, was sorry to miss it this time as I really enjoyed the last one - will do my very best to be at the next one!! Rutho, hope you are feeling better soon.

LackaDAISYcal · 20/04/2009 19:55

oh dear

I was cutting bumble's finger nails tonight and took a lump out of the top of his thumb and it wouldn't stop bleeding. We managed to get a plaster on it after ten minutes of bleeding so that I could feed him, and it was soaking through by the end of the feed, but I think it had stopped and I put another plaster around it. I feel really awful the poor lamb . He didn't squeal when it happened but it was obviously stinging afterwrads as he wouldn't stop crying. I'm now worried about him chewing off the plaster in the night and choking

bad bad mummy

Glad you ladies had a lovely time at your Northern meet-up! vbabs you sound like such a sweet and caring person - not a weirdo at all! You shouldn't worry so much

So when are we having our London meet-up then? Would be so lovely to see dozy, cricri, hana, autumnlady again (and chocO but I see her anyhow!) And would love to meet londonboots, barbs and MerryM!! and any other residents of the big smoke.

londonboots enjoy shopping you lucky lady! and I'm sure M will be just fine with loads of sunblock on. Out of interest, are you using spray-on or cream for M?

Anyone on here do Gymboree ? The Plum just loves it - and I find it tires her out too!

vbab78 · 20/04/2009 20:35

thanks ladies for your lovely comments. I really enjoyed seeing you all but must confess my fav bits were making bumble and imogen laugh at me when I was giving them cuddles. Was just like Alyssa does. Made me broody! Off to wipe eyes before DH gets home with my chinese .

twinklingfairy · 20/04/2009 21:17

Oh yes chocgal we had an awful incident with DD when she was about 7 months or so. Totally backed up cos of too many bananas.
Poor love had an absolutely Awful time trying to force out a ridiculously big poo

fudge I am feeling rather proud of myself. Though I think next time I ought to use butter instead or buttery marg.

So glad you all had a good meet up. No chance of my ever meeting you all in person. Unless you fancy a trip up to John O' Groats?

Nah, thought not

PinkyMinxy · 20/04/2009 21:17

I am really quite tired now!

Rutho hope you are feeling better and got lots of rest.

glad you are having a good time, londonboots.

Daisy I did exact smae thing with DD1 when she was a baby, and felt similar about it. I let DH do babies fingernails now!

I am going to sleep now, I think. v.tired.

love to all. Glad Plum likes her gymboree, monkey!Sound slike baby girl guides!

MonkeyMargot · 20/04/2009 21:24

pinky it is a little like the girl guides now you mention it...!

ooh Daisy poor little Bumble. Hope his finger is still intact by the morning..

DH sliced his own finger last night, the buffoon. Mid-way through bath-time, he decided to repair his Crocs (I know, I know, a 40 year old man shouldn't wear Crocs). Anyhow, he got his penknife out and sliced open his finger, and got blood all over the bedroom carpet. The idiot.

watching Caddyshack - v.funny....

5inthebed · 20/04/2009 21:36

chocgal totally normal. Texture and colour changes as well

Sumo is driving me potty tonight! He is "talking" in his sleep. Keep hearing him on baby monitor and thinking he is awake, but when checked on he is fast asleep . He refuses to lie on his back now when on the floor, gets himself all over the place on his tummy.

Glad the meet up went well. Must be lovely to see all the DC that are well talked about on here in the flesh.

Ceebee74 · 20/04/2009 21:37

Evening all - just got home

It was lovely to see you all this morning....Vbab, I echo what the others say. Don't be so hard on yourself as you are lovely and friendly (and VERY good with babies ) and I wish I had had more of a chance to chat to you I am sorry if I was a bit distracted today but I do find it hard to chat properly when DS1 is running around - no doubt getting up to mischief

Anyhoo the plan worked...both boys fell asleep as soon as I left my parent's house and, although they both woke up when I got home, they have settled in bed without a murmur

rutho get well soon and I hope you managed to get some rest today

PinkyMinxy · 20/04/2009 21:57

Ok I'm not asleep yet.

ceebee- I just hope your DS is ok after being bopped several times by my DD1! She's going through a bit of a 'phase' at the moment

Glad the boys went to sleep!

Hana- hope things are better with DH.

right def. off to bed now.

LackaDAISYcal · 20/04/2009 23:01

meant to say to chocgal that bananas are notorious for bunging babies up in the bottom department. I tend to only give banana every other day for that reason.

OP posts:
chocolategal · 20/04/2009 23:09

Thanks everyone for the constipation advice. It has only been 4-5 spoonfuls of banana but I guess that's enough when you are not used to anything but milk. He had mango tonight and will avoid the banana for a bit.

It must be the week for spiders appearing I have had 2 on my stairs today. Had to phone BIL to get 1st one then DH was home for the next one. Have been goodling spiders nests so don't expect much sleep tonight thinking about that!
