JustKeepSwimming · 02/05/2009 20:47

Thanks LaT - that is stupidly reassuring.

rest & sleep feel somewhat irrelevant atm, but i am trying.

Lilyloo · 02/05/2009 21:08

JKS so sorry i have only just been able to get online. Been out all day and just got kids to bed. Have been thinking of you though.
Am it's such a but as MM says he is still H.
Never even thought anything of the sleep.
We did have one little girl with epilepsy at school. She was also gifted and talented and in top sets. So agree with the others on not to worry r/e special school etc.
I told H last night , obv he remembers H from the meet up. He has asked me to check on here and see how he is.
We also said a prayer for him too , H did it , one from school.
You are all in our thoughts and give yourself time to come to terms with things , a day at a time and all that.
xx

JustKeepSwimming · 02/05/2009 21:11

Oh Lily, thanks to your H.

dunno if wine was such a good plan right now. think head in a hole in the ground might have worked out better.

Lilyloo · 02/05/2009 21:15

JKS you need the crying and letting it all out session before you can even begin to process all this.
Heres a big arm to lean on and an ear to bend any time you need x

simpson · 02/05/2009 21:15

JKS - you are doing well, it is so much to take in.

How is DH handling it?

Do you know how long you will have to wait for MRI?

My 90yr old Grandmother who we saw today in Oxford has epilepsy...

Lilyloo · 02/05/2009 21:22

JKS just read through your other thread , at least having all the knowledge will help you work out what's best for H. Well done you it must be very scary right now.

JustKeepSwimming · 02/05/2009 21:23

Thanks and thanks.

feel like there will be many more crying sessions before i can truly get to grips with it. and even then i'm such a beginner at all of this, bound to learn more scary stuff as time goes on.

simps - lol at your grandmother, love it!

sure the doc will be pushing for an early mri. think he pushed for early eeg after pissing us off on wed when we waited around for more than 5 hours with nothing happening, then dh rang up and complained.
plus we sort of complained to our gp who sid he would ring hosp to nudge things along.

can't complain too muc at nhs service really, they have been good. but when it's your ds, nothing's ever going to be quick enough is it?

simpson · 02/05/2009 21:29

Best piece of advice i got off HV (over M's allergies etc but will apply for anything)

Is make the best decision you can for your child at the time ie don't say if we had known this we could have done things differently etc..

This is because I was asking if I had BFed DD would she still have intolerances etc..

Gingeme · 02/05/2009 21:42

Jks I'm sorry for your news I don't know what else to say having no experience but big XXX for your brave little boy and for you and DH

JustKeepSwimming · 03/05/2009 06:55

Thanks guys.

Simps - i have even thought, but i bf him till he was 1, this shouldn't be happening!

Well H is full of cough and cold now, on top of everything else, so he woke at 10.30 (woke T too) and then again at 5 (woke T then too, and T hasn't gone back to sleep, argh!).

hoping will be sunny again today and we can go out to a locl mini steam train thing with T.

simpson · 03/05/2009 08:56

Hope H not too snotty today.

M has just downed an enormous beaker of water but refused any food.

She has gone back to bed after being up for only 30mins

I was also greeted with 2 poos in nappy this morning

One from M and one from J

madmouse · 03/05/2009 09:04

Well simpson i went to bed at midnight to be greeted by an upset baby with sick everywhere, in his hair too, his whole dinner undigested. woke me at regular intervals during the night with bits of sick/nausea. He is not impressed i will not let him drink as much water in one go as he wants and is playing with toast rather than eating it.

Hope Molly picks up today!

JKS hope you did get a little bit of sleep. You got lots of replies on the other thread just bear in mind every case is different and don't get too pessimistic. Just want to add that brain injury does not mean he got hurt or fell over - Nathan was born with a brain injury.

JKS message from 2shoes - one of the special needs stalwarts:

just get her to come on here.....we don't bite honest

xx

OP posts:
simpson · 03/05/2009 09:26

Oooh no madmouse sounds like what m has

Yes physically had to wrestle cup of water out of her hand this morning as she was glugging it down.

She went so hysterical that I gave it back in the end

Think this was why she was sick last night too. As she glugged water down very quickly then too.

Bit worried as J is very pale and has not eaten much breakfast either but that could just be because M ate none as he has to do what she does iyswim...

Hope Nathan improves....

madmouse · 03/05/2009 10:30

well has kept water in, has had hiccups with no throwing up, has had bath to wash sick out of hair and is now munching biscuit. So everything crossed and please please God this is it. have limited coping ability atm!

OP posts:
simpson · 03/05/2009 10:44

Madmouse - everything crossed here for you

M has just had a small rice cake and loads of water and gone back to bed again!!

At least this means she is sleeping it off I guess...

J seems to have perked up and is outside playing on new slide again

madmouse · 03/05/2009 10:45

JKS message from A Lucky's friend, she says she knows about epilepsy as her brother had it from childhood, he has had no seizures now for 8 years. She says she is there anytime you want to chat and she sends her love.

OP posts:
LaTrucha · 03/05/2009 13:29

JKS - How's it going today?

Simpson - How's M and J? Hope your day is not too fraught.

Madmouse - How's Nathan bearing up? And you?

Hi Lily - How are you? H sounds like a lovely boy.

Hi Gingeme - what lovely photos! Like the hair too!

Having a fraught day here too. Sabela was very shouty yesterday, then slept badly and has been 'naughty' all morning, shouting and wwhining and doing things that are really normal baby things but that I don't have the patience for today i.e. throwing my neatly piled and folded ironing piece by piece to the floor as I was trying to carry her (as she won't be put down) and it upstairs; wiping her yogurt all the way down all the clothes I'd just managed to put on us both.

I've just literally forced her to eat lunch. She was tired but I knew she was hungry too and would sleep better with something inside her. She wasn't impressed and I don't feel too great about it either. Do any of you ever do things like that?

Anyway, trivial problems in the scale of things. Hope al our sick LOs are feeling much better and chowing down their lunches!

Off to have a peaceful lunch and coffe.

See you later.

nicky6 · 03/05/2009 14:50

jks just linked back in big hug - on the developmental front whoever said it doesnt necessarily make any difference is right phd's a number of barristers i know from work try not to worry and take each day as it comes. You may find at your consultant meeting that in fact he will grow out of it as can be the case. thinking of you.

quite pregnant here now and harder to breath than last time although have put on less weight hoorah, not quite 2 stone yet and only 8.5 weeks to go.

Charlie lovely and saying almost everything we do - very worrying, cup of tea and i can see you still the favourites, all fine not walking confidently but getting there. I should finish work by end of May which will be nice. have decided on phil and teds double against my better judgement as none of the others will fit in my boot had test out at mothercare the other day!

must go charlie will be waking up soon, have cut out her morning sleep this last week so am hoping for longer ones in the afternoon xx

nicky6 · 03/05/2009 15:00

so keep your eyes open for any good deals on phil and teds doubles for me

simpson · 03/05/2009 18:18

I now have 2 poorly Dcs

M just not settling to sleep even though she is very tired...

She has eaten nothing of substance since Thursday night. No sickness today though...

J gone very pale almost white and not eaten today. He has gone to bed with a temp of 39.2.

Just waiting for NHS Direct to call back.

Both kids would be sick over a Bank Holiday weekend, wouldn't they!!

Gingeme · 03/05/2009 19:34

Oh my goodness whats going here with all these poorly littleys? I hope theyre all on the mend real soon
Nicky6 can't say I envy your pg one bit. Not broody in the slightest here thank gooodness. Not that theres alot I could do about it if I wanted to!
Had a great afternoon at a fair in our local park. George even went on a ride on his own. Loved it so much DH had to fight him to get off it Went on the bumper cars with David and he was laughing all the way round. Not sure if he was enjoying it or laughing at my driving
Finnished the day with a lovely meal out. I had lamb shank yummy!
Just doing last bits of packing for our week away.
Realy hope your babys are on the mend real soon.
If I din't pop in during the week have a good one alll xxxx

madmouse · 03/05/2009 20:12

hi all

Just back from evensong, peaceful bliss. DH's boss graciously gave him the evening off so I could go, stayed at home with Nathan this morning, who incidentally is very well in himself, laughing and playing just completely disinterested in food. No temp, no runs no sick. Hoping that he is on the mend.

Simpson this is turning into more of a nightmare every day, spare room is free if it gets too much!

JKS you are in my thoughts and prayers a lot. xx

Nicky and Ginge good to see yo

JustKeepSwimming · 03/05/2009 20:22

Right, fallen behind here a bit.

Today:
? still no major fits since Wed

  • only a few absences in a cluster about lunchtime today.
= we are now starting to question what on earth is going on and have we actually dreamt this week!?
  • lots of snot (sorry!), coughing & unhappiness from H, start of similar in both myself & T. Keeping H on a strict Calpol/Neurofen routine to try and get him through the day.

Did lots of gardening with T which kept him happy, DH took him to get his haircut and out to the car wash (always a highlight for him ).
H slept lots but cried lots too, not like him

Simps ? you are having a tough time too, poor you hope both DCs are much improved tomorrow. It is the Law of Sod over BH weekend!

Madmouse - thanks for your support, much appreciated Is Nathan better today?
I know what you mean about limited coping, I feel like this current cold is a stick too many for this particular camel!
Am trying not to be a worse case parent but I do have an overactive imagination!
The whole brain injury thing is complicated isn?t it? So has N had an MRI? Think I need to read up more about it, get an idea of what the report might look like/tell us.
(thanks to 2shoes ? so where do you normally post in SN? Or just as and when?) Got message from A, will have to try and reply tonight.

LaT ? have been there with both boys before, when you know they are hungry and they need sleep too. Always just go for the minimum of something they usually love and then let them make it up later. Esp with milk if they will take it.
How?s your dad doing?

Nicky ? don?t envy you pg right now either! (am trying not to think too far ahead and the possibilities of altering our family plans dependent on how H?s diagnosis pans out)
You could consider my p&t? don?t think I will be needing it anymore, don?t use it atm and not having another one soon enough to need it again. It was 2nd hand when I bought it and not in the best of condition. Let me know what you think?
(special MN PN discount code, lol)

Gingeme ? sounds like a lovely day
Have a lovely time away!

Sorry, long post again!

JustKeepSwimming · 03/05/2009 20:25

MM - x-posted. sounds like N on the mend, thank goodness!
don't worry, he'll get that belly back soon enough

evensong does sound like bliss tbh, though i'm imagining something out of Cadfael (ever read them?) so not sure a modern one would be quite the same!!!

Though i think i might be at the 'why us?' stage and 'if there is a G, what the heck is He playing at?!' so maybe not the best time to be in church!
