Thanks for all your comments about tea-drinking babies - Have done a bit of googling too, I don't think he's had enough yet to do him much harm - & starlight turned out OK! Maybe I could get DH to start drinking a cup of formula in a morning see if I can trick DS2 that way
How awful for you ponymum it's so miserable - wondering if it is something like the Novovirus? (like they discovered had caused all the probs at Heston Blummenthals place)If you have ended up at the Dr's he will I imagine have taken a sample from one of you which will be tested to find the cause, so at least you will know what it was. Big sympathy though - BF'ing is tiring enough without something like this knocking you for six. Can you get anyone to come & help out for a bit?

DebiTheScot · 01/04/2009 15:27

those of you who've done nct sales how much did you charge for baby clothes? I'm doing an nct type sale on Friday and have no idea. Also did you price everything up individually with stickers?

Meglet · 01/04/2009 15:46

deb I priced t-shirts at £1, trousers at £1.50 and nicer stuff with tags at £3. Baby bath was £2. TBH I decided to sell it cheap as the alternative of putting it on e-bay was too much hassle. Even then the moses basket didn't sell at £4. Am doing a car boot in may to clear the last bits out.

Argh... A has gone from being the most placid baby ever (despite wanting feeding 2-3 times and now a nappy change in the night), to screaming teething hellspawn.
Was just off to bed at 10 last night when he started yowling... and screamed almost non-stop until 2pm when I started walking himin the pushchair...for three hours because every time I stopped he woke and howled again.
Finally at 5.30 he slept for an hour and I feel human again. And Bonjela seems to be helping now and he's happy again.
Hope this doesn't go on for long...

ponymum sounds like norovirus; hope you and ponyfamily get well soon! bfing while throwing up/with the trots is Not Fun!

debi - round my way clothes don't sell if more than a couple quid for something exceptional, T-shirts are 50p or 3 for £1 in a ziploc bag. Big toys are the best sellers.

digitalgirl · 01/04/2009 19:59

ponymum sorry to hear you're all feeling terrible. Hope it clears up soon.

ninja hooray for the one feed!

NC Calpol?
A got a dose last night as he was very upset just before bedtime and clearly in a lot of pain. Slept through . Although no teeth (ditto Debithescot), how long can this go on for?

starlight congrats on BS tooth! Glad to hear I'm not the only one who lets their baby grizzle.

Except I'm sure there have definitely been a few nights where it would have been faaar easier on everyone if I'd just whacked him on the boob. But I keep telling myself that he CAN make it through the night, he has done for nearly 3 weeks now, if I were to feed him at 3am he would just wake up the next night for more of the same (but I suppose I'll never know unless I fed him).

hopefully I dropped one feed first, gave it a week, then dropped the other. He seemed fine for the first few nights (which assured me he could go the 11-12 hours between feeds), but then we had a few hellish nights where he cried for an hour - not helped by our lapsing in the 'no picking up, just patting' rule. We got back on track and he's getting a lot better at self-settling when he wakes. But there's definitely a 2 steps forward, 1.5 steps back pattern going on (bit like when we moved him from co-sleeping to his cot).

In weaning news, today has not been a hungry day. But we had a lovely time in the park where A sat in his pushchair watching the ducks and pigeons for ages.

Movement - he rolled yesterday from front to back while awake and not while he was upset. But hasn't repeated it since. Although I did find him upside down in his cot after his morning nap (head where his feet were), strange boy.

Meglet · 01/04/2009 20:12

digital DD has been wriggling round in her cot for ages and ending up the opposite way to where she got put down. I had to take the books out from under the cot (to help raise it and clear her nose) as it would be 10 times worse if she ended up the wrong way and the snot going back up her little nose!

I think ex p had his counselling yesterday. He came round to do bath night and tidied up the toys in the lounge before he took the dc's upstairs. . He's never done that before, he used to leave it looking like a bombsite then go down the pub once they were in bed.

DebiTheScot · 01/04/2009 20:19

thanks for the price advice, hopefully I'll sell at least a few things.

Struggling to get ds2 to drink much milk before bed at the moment, for about the past 5 nights he's only had about 4 oz of milk. Don't know if he's too tired to be bothered or still full up from dinner. But last night (with the help of calpol I think, ditto digital) he slept till 4am on that so guess he must be getting enough. I just cant see him going all the way until 7am on that much.

ninja · 01/04/2009 20:32

ponymum hope that you're all feeling better soon.

CarrieBo · 01/04/2009 22:49

Just swinging by very quickly, had the out-laws here since monday, they leave tomorrow and the in-laws arrive til next monday, all in the name of dd's 2nd birthday.

ponymum it does sound like norovirus, hope you all feel better soon

debi I helped my chum price up for the last NCT and we did bundles of 3 babygrows for as low as 75p, as she was most interested in shifting stuff than making money. I prob wouldn't buy second hand stuff for £4 or £5 as its not far off what you can buy it for new in asda/tesco.

Ds still shifting phenomenal amounts of puree at lightening speed and absolutely resolutely totally disinterested in finger food. But then he isn't putting anything in his mouth except his thumb. He's quite happy with lumps in his food, I reckon until he starts teething he won't start chewing on things, but once he does, I'll be lining up the broccoli trees and chicken korma.

My mum has started to make me worry about ds not rolling/crawling/pushing up with his arms when on tummy/teething. He can nearly sit up, and he makes cute noises though...!

I'll be back in a few days when I next get a chance. Until then...

CarrieBo · 01/04/2009 22:50

Oh and he is pooing more too. The Ella's house chicken casserole came out looking and smelling exactly the same as when it went in

Hopefully · 02/04/2009 09:08

RIGHT I have had enough of crap nights. I am so pissed off with the whole thing. We have done all the right things of him going into his cot drowsy but awake, falling asleep there etc etc, and he still wakes anything from 2-8 times a night. He fed four bloody times between 8pm and 6am last night, which he most definitely doesn't need.
So... I am contemplating the DG patented method of not picking up, just shushing and patting, as I can't see what else will solve the problem. I am concerned for the mental welfare of my neighbours though (terraced house). Should I drop them a note saying he is teething and therefore seems to be up at night a lot? Somehow sounds better than 'I'm planning on my baby crying for a couple of weeks'. Or wait for them to complain?
Any other ideas? I am going to have a Serious Talk with DP tonight about it and formulate an action plan, because I seriously feel that he is old enough to at least manage the same gaps at night as he can in the day (3-4 hours)

hopefully teething/sleep training warning for your neighbours is a good idea and perhaps they might want to get some earplugs for the next couple of weeks. You could also try tacking a few blankets up along the party wall to dampen the noise. I didn't do any of those things though because my neighbour has a son and knows exactly what it's like.
Is T in his own room yet? That would definitely help you and your DP to cope with the crying (more importantly). I just kept telling myself that we were helping him to get a better nights sleep eventually, and that being consistent every night was the least confusing way for him to go through it.

imoscarsmum · 02/04/2009 11:05

Sorry to hear of illness ponymum, sending get well soon vibes and, here, borrow my virtual cleaner for a few days to get washing/tidying up done for you. .

Having new windows/doors fitted this week, so currently holed up in bedroom watching homes under the hammer playing with Charlotte! Feeding is a nightmare as they are doing kitchen today.

Weaning getting slooowly better. We're still doing a bit of spoon feeding at breakfast and tea, and she seems to click that there is food on her plate if we start with a bit of it on the spoon. She then wants to feed herself with spoon and then grabs food off plate. I don't puree anything, just mash it up or macerate (sp?) in my mouth and pop it back on spoon .
Still giving finger food only at lunch - had lunch at BHS on Tues and was so embarrassed by mess, almost asked for a brush to sweep up floor . But didn't .

On sad note, had to have our 18 yr old cat put to sleep last night as she had a massive tumour. But she had a great old life. Can't believe I got her when I was 19!!!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 02/04/2009 15:12

ponymum hope you're all feeling better soon!

we're still mixing BLW and mash, but DD gets sooooo frustrated when she's spoon fed, she just pushes the spoon away and grabs the plate to observe and deep her hands in. when she realises she can't pick it up then she's happy with the spoon. she loves everything still, just a bit worried she's eating too much if anything! the other day I made pasta with tomato sauce, she loved licking the rigatoni, but then I put some sauce on some toast and she loved it (even her hair ), so much so that when the sauce was finished she was trying to "clean" the tray with her bread! no night feeding anymore, with all she's eating betweenn solids and bf I'd be amazed!

don't know if she's teething but she's biting me more and more, so I got an amber teething necklace, will see if it works when she's really teething... anyone tried them?

becaroo · 02/04/2009 19:02

ponymum so sorry to hear you have been ill - hope your dd is ok x

Carrie Sounds like Toby!!! he eats loads of puree but is not too impressed with the finger food thing - either goes on the floor or he bites chunks off it and chokes!

IOM Sorry about your cat - she was a good age though, wasnt she? We had one of our dogs til she was 19 and its very hard to see them (and therefore a part of your life) go x

Toby seems better in some ways, but his naps are a nightmare! Will only have 20-45 mins each nap in the daytime and that is either with me holding him or in the pushchair....am quite fed up about it.

hopefully Sorry T's poo situation is no better...you (and poor T!) must be very fed up.

ER tonight!!!.....

notcitrus · 02/04/2009 20:04

good luck with the waking hopefully

Finally got A to sleep last night round midnight (after Calpol, Bonjela, etc)... and he slept until 6am, when he fed and then projectile snotted on me.

And has spent all day being an angelic baby - wouldn't believe he was the same baby as yesterday. I went out most of the day so MrNC could get some sleep. Friend said she saw a white tooth but I havn't seen it.

Ponymum · 02/04/2009 20:33

Thank you SO MUCH everyone for your get well wishes. DH and I are now recovering weakly, but DD is still vomiting of and on. We went to the doctor, and as some of you predicted it is the norovirus. I really wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy (well, maybe except that nasty woman from HR ). The doctor said DD will have a milder version than us - well god I hope so! She certainly isn't vomiting anything like as badly as we were, but it is still about 4 times today, and quite a lot. She is keeping feeds down for a little while, is very happy in herself, and still has wet nappies. Doc said if that changes we need to get on the phone and she would have to go in to the hospital for rehydration. She slept well last night and had a decent night feed without vomiting at all, so I hope it is one of those things where rest and time will heal it.

On other news I have located a hospital-style breast pump and am going to pick it up tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Oh, and DD has two bottom teeth. God, they are sharp!

DebiTheScot · 03/04/2009 13:49

glad you're all getting better pony family, sounds horrendous.

Its very quiet on here today, where are you all?

Well I don't think I should ever take up a career in sales. I sold a grand total of 2 things this morning making a total sum of £1.50! Good job we didn't have to pay for a table.
It was mostly toddler toys that were selling, not much baby stuff went at all.

Loving these even though I don't know what letter to put in front as the instructions don't make sense. Xmas Grin

Ponymum · 03/04/2009 14:25

Yes, the instructions are a bit hilarious aren't they?

I was also wondering where everyone is today. Is this thread dribbling out...? I spotted foxy on another thread but she never visits us anymore.

imoscarsmum Really sorry to hear about your cat. I bet she went through a lot with you over that time! I had a cat from age 22 for 14 years until she also died from a tumour, so I can really sympathise with your loss.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 03/04/2009 15:40

Glad to hear you're all doing better ponymum. I had the norovirus this time last year and felt bloody dreadful, so my sympathies.

Our NCT branch had their NNS last week and apparantly it's the toys that sell better than the clothes there too. So it's not necessarily your selling abilities debi

I love the new smileys, they is cute!

I think I may get some bunny ears for ds over Easter. My dh will tut at me though, he did when I got ds reindeer antlers at Christmas
