Welcome ladies

Well, there's no crawling going on in our house, but there's defo some separation anxiety bawling going on .... tears, screaming, the works - oh joy!

Day eight in the Hopefully house. Teddy still hasn't done a poo. Hopefully is going quietly insane.

Thanks for ideas of cranial osteopathy (sp?) - will try it I think. Have tea to try later on today too...

Ponymum I pretty much abandoned expressing, but I did find that if I made a concerted effort to express at exactly the same time every day for a week, I did end up with more at the end of the week than at the beginning (still not loads, but some). You've probably tried it, but thought I'd add my tuppence worth.

Ninja I abandoned singing groups when I realised that T gets totally overwhelmed and without fail begins to cry about 15 minutes in.

plusonemore · 31/03/2009 10:52

alfie is absolutely starving hungry today- think he must be ready for grub! tried him this morning with loaded spoons of banana porridge, hunk of banana and a rice cake. he enjoyed playing with it, think some of the porridge went in but not much. is it too much to try some veggies at lunch too? And his teeth are really visable, 2 at the bottom, but they still feel like they are covered in gum / skin/ whatever it is!

Hopefully · 31/03/2009 12:57

After forty minutes of poo face (purple and straining) this morning, T finally produced what looks like a snooker ball! He's now doing the poo face again, so I'll probably get either another snooker ball, or the entire contents of his gut that was backed up behind the first one. Eeeewwww.

TMI time,
Has anyone noticed dc's poo changing?
Robyn was pooing 2 times a week and is now going about 4 times a day
The consistency has changed as well to little soft balls. She is defo eating some food as it is coming through but am a bit worried at how many times she is going

Hopefully · 31/03/2009 13:44

at 4 times a day!!!!!

DebiTheScot · 31/03/2009 14:54

awe poor wee T, I can't imagine how sore it would be to poo out a snooker ball and my bum is considerably bigger than his!

digitalgirl · 31/03/2009 15:09

A is definitely beginning to eat more than the accidental mouthful. Despite doing BLW for nearly two months now, he seems to be following the same progress as all the puree fed babies with regards to the consistency of food he prefers to ingest.

For the first three weeks he didn't really eat anything, just gummed on stuff and spat everything out.
Then he started sucking the juice out of everything (like strained purees).
Now he's swallowing mushy food - like porridge, oatibix, colannon. And chewing easily dissolvable food so that it turns into mush before swallowing (rice cakes, breadsticks, bread, certain fruit and veg).

Just waiting till he stops spitting out lumps of melon and meat.

Today he finished his Oatibix (half a biscuit) for the first time. We're very proud! We've also bought a new highchair that sits close to the table, it's the one from Ikea that folds and has a washable fabric chair. Seems to be a success so far, perhaps it's because A feels more involved at the table.

Still no word from my employers wrt returning part-time. Have stopped thinking about it for now.

And lastly, have any of you actually stopped feeding in the night completely? It's been over two weeks since I last fed A after his bedtime. He still wakes but eventually goes back to sleep. Just wondered if anyone had been as cruel bloody-minded consistent as I have in refusing night feeds.

digitalgirl · 31/03/2009 15:10

oh rubbish use of emphasis - meant cruel and bloodyminded

Charlotte's definately pooing more now we're eating solids. from once or twice a week to every other day, sometimes twice in a day. And the contents...!!!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 31/03/2009 17:49

M has been pooing 3 times a day, and they look like and smell like proper poo's - gag!

I haven't stopped feeding in the night. M wakes up between 4-5 and I feed him, then wakes up at 7.30, so I'm happy with that. I would be even happier if he dropped that early morning feed, but he'll do it in his own time.

If there he makes a tired moan and whinge I leave him be and he'll settle again after a few minutes.

Generally Samuel sleeps right through. The only exceptions are if I've had a very late night & a glass or two of wine, then he is guaranteed to wake up! I'm still sort of combining BLW with some purees etc, but I'm finding he wants to..erm...lead a bit too much with the purees too. We end up having a total change of clothes about 3 times a day & cleaning the dining room floor after every meal. He does seem to get frustrated he can't do it himself. Also, is tea harmful???? I don't drink much of it, but DH does, and every time he see's a cup he goes wild, vibrating his whole body, waving his arms about (Sam this is not DH) and if he is offered a taste he gulps loads & loads & seems to want more!! I hardly think it's ideal, but will little bits hurt?? Never seen the like of it before.....

DebiTheScot · 31/03/2009 20:19

DG I am trying to get down to refusing all night feeds. DS2 was feeding at anywhere between 11-12.30 and then again about 4 so I've started feeding him the 1st time he wakes and then not again until 7am (6.45 this morning, he really couldn't hang on any longer and I swear I heard the neighbour shout something like shut that bloody baby up!!! )

Once he has got used to this I will stop feeding him at all at night as he really doesn't need the milk.
I hope its soon, I'm starting to really dislike feeding him at night and that makes me feel a bit sad and guilty.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 31/03/2009 21:21

jenpet - babies shouldn't drink tea. I think it's something to do with the tannin in it. I think it hinders iron absorption. This is all from memory though, so please check!

But don't panic, it won't harm him as such. We have the same arm windmilling here when M see's my glass of water.

debithescot - I know exactly what you mean about feeling sad and guilty.

Gosh, you lot are all a lot closer to dropping night feeds than we are. T goes down around 8-8:30, and always feeds twice before morning. Very occasionally he'll feed 3 times, but usually twice. I would love to stop, but always always lose the will to live at 3am and feed him. Also difficult because we don't know when he's uncomfortable with his tummy and needs to relax to go back to sleep, and when he's just playing silly buggers.

ONE FEED - for the first time ever.

Now I've said that I'm sure it won't happen again.

I feel a need to find a pump soon - I think my sister might have one.

lollyheart · 01/04/2009 11:32

barnpot Ive just seen your fb status, is it true or a april fools? ata least i think its you.

Ponymum · 01/04/2009 13:15

Ponyfamily house turned upside down. Ponymum and Ponydad both have FOOD POISONING!! Now baby Ponygirl is vomiting too - 8 times since 3am this morning. I am so worried. We are off to the doctor in 2 hours. I really hope she hasn't got what we've got, but can't see how as it was definitely food related and she didn't eat any. We have been delirious and feverish since Monday night, with non-stop gut-renching evacuations from both ends (sorry TMI). Finally can keep some water and food down today, but still horribly weak and nauseous. So worried about DD. House is becoming filled up with vomit covered clothes/bedding. Washing machine going non-stop. I want my mummy....

Yes, but she has vomitted copiously every time. Very worried about dehydration so I gave her a cup of water which she devoured. Now she is feeding / snoozing on my lap. Fingers crossed she keeps this down...

DebiTheScot · 01/04/2009 14:24

oh no that sounds horrid (and has made me not complain about ds2s random vomit he did earlier).
Are you sure its food related? There are a lot of D&V bugs going about and that would explain how you all have it.
Good that she's drinking water, hopefully she will keep it down.

ds2 is really bothered by his teeth at the moment, they've been hurting him on and off since January but still no sign of them. DS1 got all his teeth with no pain at all so I'm not used to this.

Meglet · 01/04/2009 14:36

ponymum sorry you are all ill. Get well soon.

DD is much better after being sicky last week, she is on a whole oatibix at breakfast, mush for lunch (we like plum baby brand best) and BLW tea -because by that point in the day my nerves have had enough and I leave both of them to get on with it .
