why not just go straight to the point VG, there's no need to write so much flowery waffle round here!

thanks for the photo, i do like it but its very short. won't i look like a boy with it like that given that i don't wear make up (unless its a special occasion like an mn meetup!)

Steaknife · 24/03/2009 07:35

Oh bums missed the Rich tea and nutella.

Right off to Frenchy maman et bebe group. Wish me luck. I was worried about what to wear, so just chucked on what I was wearing at the weekend.

Stripey knit dress over skinny jeans and biker boots.

Right how do I say,

"actually the WHO recommend breast feeding till they are 1"

Steaknife · 24/03/2009 07:36

(quick disclaimer - I have no idea if it is really 1 - maybe it is 2- maybe it is 33)

LoveBuckets · 24/03/2009 07:59

Bonjour mes amies! Hope you're all doing well, will scan through to check after schoolrun.
Managed to stay of MN for a whole week, Facebook less long. Back from nice holiday at Center Parcs though not well-rested as Kurt yodled pretty much every night due to phlegmy chesty cold he caught from me (and I still have so no hope of sleep improvement for a while.)

Center Parcs is v much a middle class Butlins, you can still feel the conveyor belt of humanity passing through the schedule.

Better go, baby screaming downstairs.

sambo303triesforScotland · 24/03/2009 08:36

morning ladies, welcome back from the conveyor belt buckets sorry to hear of family illness

have skim read so cannot remember much but just want to say, what lovely girls dizzy! steak I thought the WHO recommend 2 years bf (obviously including food from 6 months) and the world average for bf is 4.2 years. I have pre ordered from amazon Gabrielle Palmer "The Politics of Breastfeeding: When Breasts are
Bad for Business" as I find the whole subject really fascinating

beautiful day here, so will bundle ds into the silver cross later and walk to rhymetime, hope all have a wonderful day! ps you may be able to tell that ds is sleeping better, we are down to 2 wake ups - one around 11 or midnight and one around 3.30am or 4.30am

Sibh · 24/03/2009 08:36

Bonjour many times over Buckets.
I'm online researching a new washing machine.
The stopcock was broken so there was water shooting into the back of my machine all night. Much bailing out of water.

Mucho swearing from my normally mild-mannered DH.

Sibh · 24/03/2009 08:44

sambo - that book does sound really good.
at the title though. It renews my resolve to write a book called 'Academics and Excessive Use of the Colon: The Gift that Keeps on Giving'.

sambo303triesforScotland · 24/03/2009 08:49

lol sibh it's 2 titles really, maybe she couldnt decide which was best.

oopsacoconut · 24/03/2009 09:06

Helloo

Not to bad night here I at least managed some sleep. DD poor baby has a blocked nose and had trouble feeding and sleeping unless she was upright so slept on me all night.

DH is going to New York on business at the end of April and has booked to take DD and I with. Please tell me I am not nuts taking a small baby all that way for 5 days? Sazzles will have to tell me how she kept DD2 occupied for rthe flight.

Morning Buckets

Sambo - It's a good book from the little I read of it before I ran out of time to read.

oopsacoconut · 24/03/2009 09:09

Sambo - not being a grammar minded person but more of a biology minded one I read that 'colon' as part of the bowel - 'Academics and Excessive Use of the Colon: The Gift that Keeps on Giving' It works well both ways!

cyteen · 24/03/2009 09:10

Sibh which colon are you talking about, exactly?

sambo really glad to hear that F is finally getting the message that sleep is good, mmkay. Joe seems to be doing the same - another midnight-6.30am sleep for us (I think) He was in our bed but that was purely down to laziness on my part

dizzy I must second sambo's appreciation of your gorgeous girls, they are just scrummy I do hope I get to have a girl at some point in the future. Not that I will love any future boys any less of course, but it would be great to have both to shop for.

Steaky your outfit sounds tres cool. Stripes and big boots definitely a favourite in this house.

poppy Joe is much happier, thanks - chowed down an entire plum and a big chunk of porridge cake for breakfast. I forgot to say before that the dress you've bought looks most elegant, I bet you will wow in it.

Back shortly...

LoveBuckets · 24/03/2009 10:32

Wow, how did that tripple post happen? Guess it just looked like me bouncing up and down with excitement.

Oops Have you ever been to Stourhead in Wilts? We went round the lake and gardens there this week and it was stunning. Great place to take a little girl one day and nice pub restaurant too.

Have booked myself in for Monday for a grownup (ie expensive) cut&colour to sort out my grey roots. I reckon it's about 7.5months worth of grey - funny that eh? So will be a new look anyway, trying to get an ashy shade of browny blonde so the regrowth won't be so dramatic.

LOL at colon abuse, I too thought bums at first.

alittlebitshy · 24/03/2009 10:47

sambo yay F, improved nights.

oops poor little p and her blcoked nose

buckets glad hol was great - despite kurt's night time antis.

we had another good night last night. They have much improved since i stopped drinking caffeinated coffee (am a tea drinker at home - and we do de-caff at home anyway, so when i go for coffee i have flavoured lattes, prob rather strong which must be a shock to my system let alone his...). When he does wake, i feed him and he goes back off again without the party.

trying to work out if i have food in to cook for tonight without shopping . assuming i have garlic I can manage a chick pea and spinach curry....

oopsacoconut · 24/03/2009 11:00

Buckets - Stourhead is one of my fave places to go on a summer afternoon. I went there alot during my maternity leave before DD arrived, snoozing by the lake with a picnic. Not sure snoozing will be possible this summer.

Albs - chickpea and spinach curry sounds yummy.

Have just washed all the muzzy's of dubious origins I keep finding all over the house - I found 4 in DH's boot so we now have lots of yellow and orange flags on our washingline

alittlebitshy · 24/03/2009 12:13

we have double the muslin square issue - dd (almost 6) loves hers and insists on having at least 3 in bed with her......

LoveBuckets · 24/03/2009 12:41

LOL My DD has the only white muslin in the house in her bed. Kurt's are all blue although he's not in love with his like the others were. DS1 just has all my teatowels hidden all around the house.

Cyteen Am being lazy, any chance you could link to your lentil burger recipe and also that porridge cake one you mentioned please? (Think it was you anyway)

Am planning an article for my NCT newsletter about hair - falling out post birth or going grey and what to do. Will grill my hairdresser next week but if anyone's got anything to say on the matter, please do. Trying to think of some grey role models - apparently Meryl Streep's do in Devil Wears Prada caused a trend but then she was back in the blonde in Mamma Mia trying to convince us she was still in her 40s.

dizzydixies · 24/03/2009 13:35

oh dear god why do you lot let me leave the house at all never mind in charge of children?

yesterday DD1 went to school in a skirt far too short with a hole in the back of her tights above her knee doing a very good impression of li-lo-lil

then when coming home I lost my house keys and had to take refuge at friends - piled all 3 in, had a juice whilst her DH went to car to double check for them, he found them in under 3 seconds

had another night of hardly talking to DH, I think he thinks I'm upset with my dad - should probably stop being such a petulant child and just tell him [bluh] Dylan up between 2am and 4am so tired again. Went to toddlers this morning, although thankfully in english, and then to get DD2's feet measured, she's gone up 2 sizes tried on every fecking pair of shoes in shop - why are girls shoes all so fecking pale - no use for us at all - and nearly died at cost of geox £42.99!!!!!!! couldn't find purse, ladies in shop watch kids whilst I ran to car only to have some wee biddy come out of tea room and tell me it was inside as I'd left it on the roof of the car and walked of

have ended up roaring and gretting everytime someone is nice to me, think flood gates have opened, and STILL have sports class for DD1, parents night and rainbows to go tonight when all I want to do is crawl back to bed

so, my lovely Aug ladies, could someone PLEASE come and kick me up the arse

steaky stripes and big boots in this house too but normally on the girls as when I wear stripes I look like a double garage and someone inadvertantly tries to park in me

cyteen it is lovely having girls thank you but I must admit I DO go a bit mad when someone has a boy

sibh hope you've managed to get a decent machine, my MIL has an LG one which I drool over a lot but a bit too expensive for here

VG thank you for car seat link, I think its time for her to move up sadly - another step towards not having a new baby am I going to get into trouble for admitting to holding her too much so she can't learn to crawl etc

poppy glad dsis arrived and dh coping

buckets lovely to have you back - am also in need of hairdo as my roots are dire - its all about the timing though as I'm not taking the girls with me. And poor Kurt with his blocked nose, have you tried squirting saline drops up his nose, not pretty but tis effective

oops very of your lovely trip, there are specialist sites for kids in NY but I think poppy will be so wee she can just fit in with your plans? how lovely of your dH and frankly this is the BEST time to travel, its when they get older and bore easily that it become a PITA!

Expectant · 24/03/2009 13:57

Hi All,

Back from our trip to Thailand. Had a great time. DH unfortunately had flu (not just man flu) but managed to battle through most of it. He did forget my Mother's Day card in his excitement at remembering the present! I suppose you can't have it all...

DS had a really good day on Saturday was really good on the flight and ate loads so I was feeling a little less nervous about the flight to London next month but he wasn't as good on the way home today so not really sure how he'll be.

Will post again in the morning as going to bed now (nearly 10pm here) and hoping DS is so pleased to be back in his own bed that he'll sleep through - ever the optimist me!

PetitFilou1 · 24/03/2009 14:09

Hi all

Not much to say except hello! (too tired as dh appears to have been taking the little blue tablets and woke me up twice last night (he hasn't really been taking them in case anyone is wondering whether I'm serious or not)

buckets Nice to see you back!

My hair started falling out about month ago, then this seems to have abated. At the moment I have a very thick fast growing mane still. But I still don't have my periods back so this is probably why.

If I started to go grey, I would dye it in a flash. I looked tired and old enough already without that added to it! However I do like a nice grey elegant bob on an older lady but it needs bright lipstick to put some colour back in the face too imo - so doesn't work except on the more glam older women. My mum is grey but also has very short hair and is very low maintenance in that dept - she loves clothes but not fussed about hair and beauty and looks her age (sorry mum!)

A friend of mine lost all her hair (Gail Porter style) after her third baby. But she was also under a lot of stress at the time and had pneumonia a few months after the birth - so not sure if the hair loss and childbirth are at all connected. It still hasn't grown back but she said it has made her more ballsy as a result

oopsacoconut · 24/03/2009 14:12

Dizzy - {{hugs}} can't you just cancel the classes, miss rainbows and stay in with cbeebies and a gin hot cuppa? Then do parents evening. Do speak to DH though you don't want it getting any bigger esp. if he hasn't a clue. or Let us at him!!!

LoveBuckets · 24/03/2009 14:29

Yeah I think if you're going to go grey all over you've got to have the time and money for cuts, time and money for make up, time and money for clothes to stay looking youngish. Not too broke at the mo but we still only have the national average salary keeping all 5 of us so would feel guilty even if I had the time.

Dizzy Call in a sicky for DD1 tomorrow and stay in the lot of you.

PetitFilou1 · 24/03/2009 14:46

buckets You aren't an 'older lady' yet though! I meant women in their 50s. But generally going old gracefully does seem to require ££ imo

dizzy Sorry did read your post and hope your day gets better - what a nightmare

hotterpotter · 24/03/2009 14:56

Afternoon all . Sorry I've not been on lately but I have been trying to do my application form for a whole week, finally finished at midnight last night and sent it off to my boss to see if it passes muster. Hopefully won't be too much rework to do...

My hair almost stopped growing and did stop shedding while I was pregnant. All the excess fell out about two months ago and there is quite a bit of grey left in my poor wispy locks . Have just booked a hairdressers appointment for next Tuesday; my last one was in 1989 am hoping for something a bit like this but maybe a bit longer.

Dizzy poor you. I agree with the others, can't you just lock the door and stay inside?

Expectant glad you had a lovely time

Oops am very of your NY trip.

Flip, time flies and I've got to go and get DD from nursery. It's her first parents' evening too, at 3.30, LOL! Back later...
