Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Thanks pertelote. Sorry - that sounded like I want to be more slutty for my child's christening. Just mean that I hope it's more elegant in reality. .

SibhaShillelaghUnderYourArm · 22/03/2009 21:51

Glad to hear the day was good, though Poppy that night sounds just awful.

We've had the oddest day here. I got a lie-in which wsa lovely and a picture from DD1 with a dictated note on it. She mentioned she loved me and then added, 'this is a good picture. I am very impressed.' So far, so good, and like VG I had a few moments of taking stock and feeling very blessed with my brood.

Then while DH was working this afternoon I took the children to the beach, and we had a lovely time, once DS had decided to join in.

Now, I had some funny headachey jolty things going on last week while I was wearing broken and then new glasses and that's happened a few times again over the weekend. I haven't been to see the doctor for non-baby related stuff for 6 years, but I said to DH this morning I might go and mention it. Anyway, I got the pain on the beach and felt a bit sick so we packed up. But on the way home my tongue went numb, then my cheek and I felt awful. I ended up stopping the car and jumping out, trying to flag down a passing neighbour because I thought at the very least I was about to pass out. After a few minutes I drove on but the same thing happened again.

Numb teeth and a fair bit of headachey eye pain later I saw the emergency doc, and I need to wait to see if it goes over the next few days. Whatever the story is, the few moments of feeilng like I was losing the plot in the car were truly frightening just because I was freaking about how to keep everyone safe. Plans for emergencies in the house we have, but I hadn't really thought about mobile crises.
My eye is still sore so I should head off.
Sorry to land all this here.

I hope the babies sleep well.
Is Buckets back tomorrow?

poppysocks · 22/03/2009 22:25

OMG sibh. How are you feeling now? That must have been really frightening. Hope you can get an Dr's appointment soon and you manage to sleep well tonight.

dizzydixies · 23/03/2009 00:08

Sibh, hope you're doing ok

shit day, toothache and painkillers haven't dulled it any - I went to bed 2hrs ago and got back up because I was just lying there listening to everyone else sleep

oopsacoconut · 23/03/2009 08:08

Morning

Brekkie here - porridge, juice, toast,COFFEE and tea.

Sibh - Hope you are okay and mangae to get an appointment today.

Dizzy - Can you get another emmergency appointment you can't live in pain until this dentist returns!

DD has developed a stinkiing cold so I have had no sleep, Dh moved into the spare room at 1am DD moved into our bed and speant the night feeding, choking on snot, throwing up her feeds and going back to sleep, she wriggled and cried out constantly but is now sitting on the sofa with DH yelling at the world like she has had an enitre night sleep

dizzydixies · 23/03/2009 09:10

oops I'm with you, sore tooth and my anger festering kept me awake until 1am and then Dylan was up at 4qm DH of cource slept on until his alarm went off at 6am - it was on vibrate (pillock) so it was lucky I was up Anyway, Dylan away back to sleep and my friend very kindly walked DD1 to school so I didn't have to waken Dylan up. DD2 and I eating hoops and putting the world to rights with the help of Dora the Explorer

is there any reason that my tooth would hurt at night? Am confused because it is fine during the day yet kicks in at night time which makes me wonder why do we have a thread dentist?!?

DH did HUGE pile of irnoning and yet am still irrationaly annoyed at him actually maybe am more angry with myself for expecting something when year after year it goes by with a poof rather than a bang

dizzydixies · 23/03/2009 09:11

Sibh hope everything ok

excuse the typos

Steaknife · 23/03/2009 09:12

pertelote - sadly, my prediction was spot on. It felt rather like having an overtired toddler to look after as well. Not only was it a rubbish first mothers day but it was actually worse than a normal Sunday. I did manage not to loose my rag completely but I did have a little foot stomp about it being "my first sodding mothers day and its rubbish"

Thank goodness the French do theirs later in the year - June I think - so DH has time-aplenty to come up with an outstanding effort.

sibh - that sounds very frightening, I hope the doctor is useful and reassuring.

poppy - that dress is very pretty and I don't think too frumpy at all.

Those rainsticks look ace, I am going to see if they have them on Amazon, I have some vouchers left from Xmas, which probably should be spent on a French verb book.

After all that talk of bubbles the other week I went out and brought a bubble tube for Izzy, best 60 cents I ever spent. Though most of the time she just wants to grab the tube or the wand. I keep saying to DH "we should get a bubble machine" Hopefully by the time the baby's birthday comes around he will have been conditioned enough to think it is his idea.

dizzydixies · 23/03/2009 09:14

steaky Fathers Day is in June in the UK - shall be getting ignored here is you feel like joining in with my petulant, lip pouting temper tantrum feel free

VG piccies should be on my profile - I think - i dunno can't function going for a nap

dizzydixies · 23/03/2009 09:41

VG all sounds very pathetic of me I know and I'm sorry. I have this every year where mothers day/birthday/anny/valentines etc all come and go with nothing to write home about. Now I adore DH and appreciate how lucky I am but I stupidly thought he might make a slight effort yesterday because he knows I've been struggling and was so dreading it, even with the littlies to sniff/hug and adore it was hard going

my argument is that these days don't creep up on him, its not as if they're different times each year to catch him out. I don't want huge expensive gestures or gifts just a little thought thats all. DD1 did give me a wee book which I LOVE because she made it for me but it was made at rainbows on Tues night - not that I appreciate it any less, just that it was nothing to do with him and if it hadn't been for that there would have been nothing at all.

god am a whinging bint but I stupidly STUPIDLY thought this year with everything thats happened.......... shouldn't have bothered acknowledging the bloody day existed and saved myself all the heartache

oh god just ignore me am mortified

dizzydixies · 23/03/2009 09:45

poppy am sorry I missed your post, the dress is just lovely and I frankly would have ripped the alarm out and beaten it off the floor did your dsis arrive ok? how is DH coping with the house full of women babies?!?

sausage am sorry you're still not getting there, feeding here is a struggle too but we turned a corner this morning and she's finally started opening her mouth - I hope there is something that can give you some decent advice

VG don't worry about the coat, he's a hardy wee Irish soul and will do rightly! DD1 away with her light coat with no hood (I decided to wash her padded/hooded one last night ) and thats just asking for trouble over here - sun shining now but due to lack of hood there will be pouring rain by break time

feck sorry

cyteen · 23/03/2009 10:04

Aw dizzy sorry to hear your man didn't think ahead and make more of an effort for you especially as you are an amazing mum and deserve to be celebrated as such.

Sibh yes that does sound extremely frightening. My DP has had a couple of incidents of sudden vision wobbles and lightheadedness while driving, very scary - we suspect in his case it was just tiredness and low blood sugar, but the numb cheek sounds very strange. Do get it checked out and push your GP if they seem inclined to give you the brush off.

Meanwhile I prescribe a day of baby cuddles for you

Back to reality after yesterday's lovely treats - Joe yacked up all over me this morning and doesn't seem much interested in milk or food. And now he is wailing upstairs so I had better go and rescue him.

dizzy and sibh* lots of sympathy and hope you get your pains sorted soon.

oops at vicar! Was it just a private service then? Didn't know many churches did them much anymore.....

cyteen was it just a random yack?

poppy argh - that sounds horrendous. But yay for the girls sleeping on.

sandm How is handsome little J?

Keyborard looking remarkably clean (usually full of crumbs from me eating while i MN ). Tis cos i wasted tipped almost a full cup of tea over it and the floor last night.

Question: My boobs have clearly shrunk gradually, and by feeding bras are rather loose. Found the ones i started with, a cup smaller, and they seem ok, but ought I to go and get re-measured? bit reluctant to spend on more bras but not intending to stop feding any time soon, so....

VG thank you. You lot have made more effort than my dh, dad and best friend all put together my mum's cousin in NZ even phoned yesterday morning to say she was thinking of me and my brother put flowers on mum's grave from both of us which was nice of him. I've ordered one of these in white with the word MUM on it to take through next time I'm going.

I think I've cried more yesterday and today than I have since she passed so time to waken up Dylan, grab DD2 and go out into sunny but windy day and clear out some cobwebs

thank you ladies

Sibh - I thought maybe migraine related too.

Dizzy - you might need to operate a covert re-training programme with DH to drum the message home help him remember special days.

My SIL has an awesome technique. While they were still dating she got a friend to ring my DB and ask "what are you getting SIL for Girlfriends Day?" Cue "what, what, nothing, oh F*, when is it, what should I get her?" from DB. SIL friend "tis this weekend, get her something shiney from Links"

Come the weekend presents presented and smiles all round. She did eventually tell him that Girlfriends Day didn't exist.

Isn't that genius?

oopsacoconut · 23/03/2009 10:39

Nap achieved slightly more human now.

Albs - yes it was a private service - we gave them 3 March weekends and they rang back with Saturday times. Which was perfect as there were so many people coming from far away.

Dizzy - {{{hugs}}} You are a fab mum and should be spoilt - come down here and I will pamper you

oopsacoconut · 23/03/2009 10:43

Am off to the hell that is Tesco to buy James Bond for DH - anyone need anything?
