i like 19 and 6 but have to confess i don't really know what i looking at with the top ones!

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 01/03/2009 22:51

actually, i've had another look, i prefer 8 to 6 and just worked out the top things are openers, right? in which case if it were me i'd go for 18 openers with 8 latches

blimey, you know how to put the pressure on with "you know your crafty stuff"!!

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 01/03/2009 22:53

well we've had a call from DP's gps. apparently they're doing a 5+ hour drive to see us in 3 weeks time. I've said no, on no condition is his grandfather (who's almost 80) doing a journey like that. i have now upset all of DP's family

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 01/03/2009 22:57

DP's dad said its not our problem if his father wants to do the drive. I said that no, its not until he has an accident and i'm not having it. I'm really intrigued what DP's mum thinks about it all. Calls from her today have been suspiciously absent!
His grandmother will probably never speak to me again. Sounds awful but not a huge loss given that she's called DP's mum's sister really horrible things and she was the first one with daily phonecalls of "advice" when DS was born

i am wetting myself with laughter... DP was shaving his head but his hair trimers have stopped working half way through! any ideas ladies? he needs to be in work tomorrow before the barbers open

longwayfromhome · 01/03/2009 23:11

Do you have an epilator? Does it come with a shaving attachment?

7 and 17 from me, but have never been a crafty type

longwayfromhome · 01/03/2009 23:16

also, miamla did you have guests this afternoon. I just got a message from a friend saying that he had visited a baby with the same name as your DS today, who had very tired parents, and was wondering if this was you?

my kitchen is fake wood doors, lots of metal and brown spotty tiles. The building was built in 1972, the kitchen is very functional, just not very beautiful. I am hoping that it is retro chic, rather than just a bit naf. I wonder if this kind of handle might fit in well there?

hmmmm.

longwayfromhome · 01/03/2009 23:27

big crash of thunder just woke up DS, and must do the washing up. Hm.

Thanks, spotty tiles very cool. I wasn't trying to imply that these handles were 1970's, which clearly they aren't - they are very beautiful and I am sure that you will make a really good choice, I was just mentioning that my own kitchen decor might not lead you to trust my suggestions!

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 01/03/2009 23:46

should have asked earlier, what room are they going in? be wary of choosing ones that are similar ie latch to opener. it'll look like you tried to match them and failed. if they're not identical, go for completely different styles

lwfh we have had viitors but only female ones so unless your "he" was a typo, there's another boy of the same name out there! i did ask before but you ignored forgot to answer... what's the name of the church you got married in?

DP hair disaster has been solved with a screwdriver! hair trimmers now fixed and DP still wondering why i found it so funny

Sibh · 02/03/2009 00:22

Lol at your DP's potential disaster Miamla.
Much laughter here generally this evening.

I mentioned Marianne and Pertelote to DH earlier and he commented for what seemed to be the 100th time on Pertelote's name being a bit odd. Not like him at all ..

Not that odd, says I, for the 99th time, given that you are a fecking literary genius, and a Chaucer reference shouldn't floor you. Then I add, apparently for the first time, 'it's just her mn name you know.'

DH, 'FFS, I thought you knew somebody who was really named after a fictional medieval chicken.'

Well, it made me laugh ...

TwilightSurfer · 02/03/2009 02:42

OMG ya'll have me rolling!!!

Just getting on 'new' thread. Have just booked a little trip to Phuket in Thailand. Will be our first family trip together just the three of us. Am finding it very strange that DS will have visited all these exotic places so early on when I didn't get on a plane till I was 11 and my first holiday was to Weston Super Mare! A little different

Hugs to all those back to work. I've been back a month today but only part time so is manageable at the moment. Tis lovely to get back at 1pm and get a huge grin from the little one when I walk in the door. However it does seem to have coincided with him not sleeping. He'd just got into 7-6.30ish but now he's up at 3-4 for an hour or 2 as it was on Saturday night and more often than not at 11 as well

No1 and S&M do hope that they hurry up with those results so that at least you can get some answers and hopefully some peace of mind.

Sazzles fantastic tropical storm here yesterday and Saturday too. Was on Skype to Mum and Dad and they thought the first rumble was DS burping! I'd be most impressed if he managed to make that kind of noise!

Miamla sorry you had to waste precious sleep time at A&E. Haven't had to venture there yet but a bit worried as it's a bit weird here with public and private hospitals. The ambulances don't even seem to get right of way or go through red lights!

sambo303triesforScotland · 02/03/2009 08:37

morning ladies - it's a beautiful spring day here, the sun is shining, birds are twittering, I'm on my second cup of tea - last night's horrors are a distant memory DP pushed ahead with blw yesterday with a slice of avocado - ds was up 4 times between 9.30pm and 4.30am farting. Then at 4.30 he decided he'd stretch his vocal chords with a bit of warbling etc, dp had total melt down and stormed off to spare room at 5.15am, whereupon ds promptly fell asleep

lwfh your kitchen sounds nice to me

sazzles I love no 12 - but I picture you in a thatched cottage with wobbly walls, made of flint, kind of 16th century, roses round the door so not sure that'd be the best choice

sibh lol at the fictional medieval chicken

ts glad you had a wonderful yoga/reiki session, you cant beat personal attention

expectant wow Phuket, I bet that'll be amazing I so need a holiday!

sambo303triesforScotland · 02/03/2009 08:38

off to visit my mum and dad today so must get ready, hope everyone has a wonderful day, especially CC!

hotterpotter · 02/03/2009 08:47

Morning all. My turn to get up early again today, am feeling a bit sleepy but kind DH let me lie in till 9.30 yesterday so it's only fair. I think the DC are finally on the mend, still up half the night with coughing DS but his eyes aren't clogged up this morning and he does actually seem a bit more cheerful. He wasn't awake to feed, just moaning, so disheartening when you cuddle him to sleep, put him back gently in his cot and he immediately coughs and then starts moaning . And his moan is so loud for such a little boy . Fingers crossed they're over the worst now...

Expectant your holiday sounds lovely at least there is some benefit to going back to work

TS glad to hear you enjoyed your yoga

Miamla glad your DP got his hair sorted . Shame about the GP, have they met your DS? Is there any way you could meet them in the middle or something? I just see how my Grandma is with my DS, she absolutely adores him. She's 81 this year, I'm sure she never thought she would be a be a great-grandma; I'm so glad she is

LWFH your kitchen definitely sounds more chic than naff

Sazzles I can barely decide what to have for breakfast never mind window furniture >

Dizzy hope DD2's arm is OK now and you have peace again. Come and tell us all about it!

Cyteen am in awe of your domestic goddessness

Sibh your upstairs remodel sounds hard work but exciting, what are you having done?

CC good luck for today . Didn't you get promoted while you were on mat leave? Will be all new and exciting then hopefully

Lovely day here, might get a bit done outside if I can persuade DS to sleep. Hope it's sunny where you are too

hotterpotter · 02/03/2009 08:55

Hey Sambo hope you have a lovely time . I guess DS won't be getting avocado again any time soon! It was one of the few things DD flatly refused to eat so haven't tried it with DS. Maybe I won't bother
