Forgot to say, SIBH, Ataraxis, enjoy the bottle snifter of wine!

longwayfromhome · 27/02/2009 22:16

S&M, No1 we will say a prayer for your families and little ones tonight.

Thanks for all the swimming advice.

CC I used to sleep so well. Then I got married and had to get used to sharing a bed, then got pregnant and had to get up in the night to pee and now DS is here, lovely but never slept through, currently waking 2-3 times a night and not settling very well.

I should have appreciated it more. My mum even told me to, and I didn´t listen.

cyteen · 27/02/2009 22:23

Evening ladies - lots of worry and strife tonight no1 and S&M how very worrying for you both, I wish we could do something more practical than just offer August 08 solidarity. We are all here with you.

Sorry too for the back-to-workers No matter how much toil our babies lay on us, it is hard to leave them. But yes, ataraxis you should feel very proud of feeding for as long as you have - I remember ages ago you posting that you thought you might have to stop, so it's pretty wonderful that you've kept going for so long

And CC Joe has slept through the night a grand total of once, at about 9 weeks I think. Although of course I woke up even more than usual due to worry and giant norkage He's restless tonight, think we are in for a long one.

sambo303triesforScotland · 27/02/2009 22:25

no1 poor you and M and your dh, I am so sorry to hear your news - an awful wait for the results too {{{HUGS}}}

s&m sorry to hear you are having to go for tests, hope they get to the bottom of things sooner rather than later {{{HUGS}}}

ataraxis & cc {{{HUGS}}}

cc my ds has slept for 5 hours in a row 4 times in 25 weeks and usually wakes every 3 hours (down from 1 or 2 hours which was Dec through Jan's pattern).

just had chips and egg. lunch was chips and beanburger. Who said a veggie diet was healthy?

sambo303triesforScotland · 27/02/2009 22:30

I am going to a 'meet the minder' thing tomorrow - to find out about childminders and meet some local ones. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do to find a good one. I may have the same reaction I had when I checked out some nurseries last year - no way is my ds going there . It will make going back to work more real, I'm already dreading it though it's months away (sorry cc/ataraxis)

lwfh hmm yes, I really used to love going to bed but dont enjoy it now cos it no longer means rest and recuperation

cyteen · 27/02/2009 22:34

Yes, we've started to look at childcare again now that we've put the move back South on hold for a bit...going to look at a couple of nurseries soon, on the same street as both our workplaces. I know at least one person who's used one of them for both her DC so am hoping that's a good sign.

No1 I just don't know what to say. Just giving you big hugs. One possible consolation - A lady at my bf group had been told her DD had SB. After about 3 months believing it, it has turned out she doesn't have it. She does have a neural defect, but nothing that will affect her in any way. Hopefully that's some small comfort - she also has the hair thing at the base of her spine. Maybe Marcus DOESN'T have it, but it's best to rule it out. (positive thinking)

We have a bit of good news. DP's review at work has been very good. They are very pleased with his performance, so his job is no longer on the line. It is a relief I must admit. So we've had some bubbly, and DP is now upstairs trying to calm extremely overtired boy to sleep.

morning all

getting dp's cold here I think, trying to fight it

Sazzles it is heartening to hear that you felt ready to go back at 12 months. I am a bit I will have to go back full time - think it's too risky to ask for reduced hours (and I'd end up doing 5 days work, some in my own time, and getting paid for 4 anyway) Glad you enjoyed the pub, maybe your dh can get a few words in next month?

well done mrann, what a relief for you both

just worked out how to do this: ¿ cool, now what can I do with it???

sambo303triesforScotland · 28/02/2009 08:03

interesting message on the sleep club thread I'm on (that should be NO sleep club thread) - a lady has written that her dc has 'slept through' from x months - "only waking for 1 or 2 feeds" I call that waking 1 or 2 times a night NOT sleeping though.

Morning all, strong coffee and sugar laden pastry for breakfast if you want it [bleary-eyed emoticon]

S&M only got to smile at you at the meetup; I'm sorry to hear you are having so much worry about your DS ; I really hope you find out soon that there's nothing wrong with your DS, or if there is that it's easily treatable.

No1 you must be in shock although the fact that it's taken this long for anyone to even think he might have spina bifida must be encouraging. You mustn't google but we can; I have seen this on the BBC website this morning:

In spina bifida occulta, which affects up to one in ten people, there may be visible signs of a dimple or small hair growth on the back. This is a mild form and rarely causes disability.

So it seems to be way more common than I ever thought; chances are that one or two of us have it too but the damage is so mild as to cause no problems. I have everything crossed that there's nothing wrong, but please take heart from the idea that even if he does have it this does not automatically mean a lifetime of disability, wheelchairs etc.

Have had to fight DD for the computer today, she's been playing on the poisson rouge website it's brilliant for littlies but I think I'm going to have to get another computer . And DS absolutely chock full of cold, poor poppet has gooey cough, runny nose and red eyes . We spent all afternoon curled up on the sofa yesterday, him feeding and dozing, me watching the whole Colin Firth/Jennifer Ehle Pride and Prejudice .

Don't know what to do today. Dizzy I hope your PIL aren't driving you to distraction already. Sazzles I hope you slept well after your grown-up excursion yesterday

Everyone, have a lovely weekend

hotterpotter · 28/02/2009 08:20

x-post, morning you two. Who'd have thought, I have a sleeping through the night baby

PetitFilou1 · 28/02/2009 09:25

sambo lol at sleeping through the night but waking for one or two feeds

you will find others' descriptions of sleeping through include from 11-7 too. My description is 7 til 7 and nothing else counts! But then I am a perfectionist

Anyway they eventually do it - for a bit and then when they are older they wake up because it is scary, because they need a drink, because their duvet has fallen off, because they are hot etc etc so

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 28/02/2009 09:52

all uou ladies are wonderful
hotter that is ezactly what dh googled.
sazzles thanks for that, i am not worrying too much,he seems fine to me.
just annoyed that as soon as he was born mw mentioned it but said he was fine, but best to check these things i suppose.

cc and lwfh thanks for prayers.

Morning.
No1 Sorry your life is so exciting at the moment, bet you'd love just a day of normal boringness. Hope some sleep has helped you relax a little.

Had a great night last night, just 4 of us ladies shooting the shit. Cab home was under a tenner and was just tipsy enought to give DH his birthday present when I got in.

hotterpotter · 28/02/2009 10:57

Glad you had fun Buckets and Sazzles

Being booted off the computer by DD, she wants her 'fishy game' on . She's not impressed by the information that I didn't even have a computer till I was 14 and that was a Spectrum, so hardly even counts [sounding like my own mother]

TwilightSurfer · 28/02/2009 12:05

Crap Night Here

no point in describing.

goal today is to find the silver lining.

as for that sleeping through the night thing WTF!

reese is wide awake and chipper. dd1 & dh are still in bed asleep. in two weeks i will be opening the front door of the beach house and hopefully it will be warm and sunny all around.

pf i reread my post and hate how it could have sounded. no negative tones intended. i am just getting into the whole alternative medicine docs and i'm starting to see there's a big seperation of thought between them and other doctors. i see the need for both but feel in so many ways the alternative guys really care about the whole patient versus the "problem". in dh's case he's spent 10 years dealing with this and has two doctors both putting him on one statin after another. he reacted negatively to all of them but neither doctor would agree it was the statin. he didn't have the problem when not taking the statin...he had the problem when he took the statin....does anyone else see the connection???

anyway back to my original thought, i truly ment no ill will towards you wonder dh and his profession. in fact i embrace it in every way.
