me me me - cake and canapes please. Am starving!

yay for mr dizzy and for refund! all good news!

poppysocks · 27/02/2009 13:56

Thinking of you Dizzy - ILs and the rest. Courage, fortitude and hugs for the next few days. Great news about the exams and highchair too. Phew!

Sorry to hear about your DH's diagnosis TS. I get periodically v. worried about my DH. Addicted to red meat and drinks far more than is healthy. Plus his uncle died of a heart attack at 49 (leaving three young daughters ) and his Dad has high cholesterol. The arrival of DD2 has prompted him to give up smoking and is slowly getting more sensible as he ages, but just hoping it's fast enough...

Your poor boys CC. Hope the doc gets them happy and smiling again soon.

Just been sitting here chuckling out loud at your comment about not having to write an essay about anesthetic for dental work Buckets. Too true!

More huggies swimming nappies used here. Always seem to do the job fine.

pf - I was actually told off by the HV for sticking to just fruit and veg for E (she's a bit closer to 7 monhts now than 6) as she's lost weight. I was totally and as it was she who'd told me to do exactly that due to the hard poo issue. Anyway, since then I've given a bit of chicken and she's also tried her sister's spag bol. I've also upped yoghurt and she's chomped on a stick of cheddar. A few flakes of fish I think have also made it in. So, yes, fish and meat starting here.

poppysocks · 27/02/2009 14:02

That took me so long to type that I rudely (and most uncharacteristically) ignored the canapes and cake to celebrate the Dixie successes. Cheers (cake chinking doesn't really work does it )

BTW, def. not pg. Period arrived yesterday, exactly 8 weeks after the last. So, either I failed to notice one or irregular periods and bf are indeed friends.

Sausageandmash · 27/02/2009 15:48

Congrats Mr Dizzy. What a jolly good way to start the weekend! And now off for the nursery run (literally).

pertelote · 27/02/2009 16:29

Cheers! Congratulations Mr Dixie - and congratulations to you too Dizzy, I have an inkling you deserve some credit for his success... Hope this takes the edge off the weekend a little.

TS, - sorry about your DH's bad news. Sounds like you and his Dr are being proactive though which must be good.

CC hope your boys are ok...

Lovely day here - just been out in the garden for the first time this year! There are crocuses up which is lovely (we can't see our teeny garden from inside so they were a surprise ). And I have baked some brownies so generally feeling quite cheerful. Anyone fancy one? They go very well with champagne I reckon... (does anything not go with champagne?! )

AnnVan · 27/02/2009 16:44

Hello all. back from swimming. It was good, although Seb swallowed rathera lot of water. Just as we were about to get out he puked spectacularly on my shoulder, down my back and in the pool. There were lumps of undigested potato chip floating about.
How does this underwater swimming lark go? He was a bit panicky really so didn't dunk him except once by accident

Congrats to mrDixie! and To Dizzy for the refund.

LoveBuckets · 27/02/2009 17:05

Caught my first poo today, Sir! Had been thinking about giving up the potty timing as wasn't getting anywhere but caught Kurt doing a little poo after his milk and whizzed him upstairs to change him. Thought what the hell and held him over the potty and he did some more (and wee'd over the front of the potty.) Have really got to pay him more attention, rather than expecting him to go when it's convenient for me.

PF I'll move on to fish etc whenever I can be bothered! Having weaned earlier before like you, I think that waiting a bit this time gives us carte banche not to worry about anything we do to these LOs. Also my 4m of breastfeeding makes me v cavalier!

Friday night relax vibes and sleepydust to kids. See you all tomorrow, got to bath and bed the kids early for my posh birds' night out on the wrong side of the tracks LOL. Did anyone see that 90s film Judgement Night..?

alittlebitshy · 27/02/2009 17:20

have a good night out BUCKETS. oops no idea while that is in caps...

ann glad swimming went well. We've not taken henry yet - but dd didn't go til she was 1 either so i guess we're being as lazy again . Thing is i hate swimming (hate costume wearing etc plus can't see without my glasses) and dh sys she wouldn't feel happy taking both dcs on his own. fair enough....

Indian takeaway tonight so feeling chirpy.

Hello all

Congrats to mrdizzy, I guess it's true that behind every great man is an even greater woman

pf holding a good thought for your friends...

Buckets have fun on the wrong side of the tracks

CC your poor boys Really hope they feel better soon (and you get some sleep).

Been out for the day and had a lovely time Joe is cute cute cute at the moment. His vocalisations have really changed in the last couple of days to sound more varied, like they're made up of more letters iyswim. Almost wordlike! Very cool I made little lentil burgers to take with me for his lunch and he yummed them up, as did my friend's son

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 27/02/2009 18:04

FCG... i need help for dinner...what can i do with chirizo sausage (sliced) and some chicken breasts...... pretty please?

Ooh cyteen please do. I'm trying to persuade DP to go veggie a couple of mealsa week as it would cut costs a bit (I'm a meat eater but also love my veg, so any tasty veggie recipes appreciated)

Miamla you could do a chicken paella.

cyteen · 27/02/2009 18:47

ann i was veggie for years so have loads of tasty meal ideas

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 27/02/2009 18:50

oh no! i don't know what one to do now! think i'll do a combo, thanks girls

AnnVan · 27/02/2009 19:13

cyteen don't suppose you'd mind emailing a couple? Pretty please?

Knew a veggie girl at uni who would steam some broccoli, boil a bit of pasta and that was her dinner. Honestly. Veggie food CAN be tasty. Don't know how she lived like that. My mum used to make lovely braised butternut and lentil.

PetitFilou1 · 27/02/2009 19:14

annvan How adventurous is your dp - I have lots of ideas you could try?

TS dh was ummm how shall I put it, not terribly polite about the niacin protocol. Basically I could sum it up by saying he didn't think there was any scientific evidence for it working. But he isn't always right obviously and I hope it does have a positive effect on your dh.

PetitFilou1 · 27/02/2009 19:15

annvan I strongly recommend getting Madhur Jaffrey's Round the World Vegetarian for ideas - brilliant book
