hello

although I'm probably talking to myself.

Poor DD Foxy

Bumper your knitting group does sound lovely. Are you going again? I'd love to have a tiered cake stand (agree with Foxy it sounds like there ought to have been one) but nowhere to store one for how little use it would get in reality And for the record, I'd say you are fairly yummy

Have tried to be a teeny bit more yummy so far this year. I was just so fed up of putting myself bottom of the list all the time, only tending to my appearance when everything else was done I have actually suceeded in properly cleansing and moisturing twice a day every day this week, and brushing my hair twice a day too. (See how bad things had got that I am proud of these basics.) And I have worn alittle make up most days too - not tonnes but enough to tone down my naturally ruddy cheeks and add a touch of definition to my eyes. So now I don't look like a dried out, flaky-skinned drunk any more Has cost me a fortune though as I had a good clear out of my disused toiletries and make up and replaced the manky ones. And DH caught me filing and buffing my nails last night and is now concerned that I'm going to go all "high maintenance". Bizarre thing is that more mums (and dads) at groups etc have stopped and chatted to me this week than in a long long while. Whether it's a confidence thing or whether I really did look that disgusting that it put people off talking to me before I'm not sure.

JammyQueenOfTheNewYear · 09/01/2009 13:42

I feel better at my slumminess now I see you two commenting on lack of hair brushing while I typed that little monologue

happynewRia · 09/01/2009 13:49

LOL @ a dried out, flaky-skinned drunk jammy. I know that feeling! sadly I have failed spectacularly at my secret resolution of not leaving the house looking like a disaster. Think I might have moisturised once since christmas no make up since NYD and I have baby snot on my coat. two people talk to me at school though...
will try harder when baggins is better.

BumpermightsuetheSindie · 09/01/2009 14:00

No three tiers foxy, but there were cake stands! Did you find your tickets BTW?

Ria, I hope your day gets better

LackaDAISYcal · 09/01/2009 14:05

sputnik, that mner talked about two children and everyone assumed they were hers, but she never corrected that assumption. they are actually her neice and nephew. Nowt wrong with that really, not everyone here has kids after all, but the one she called her little man all the time when discussing nappy folds, how good nappies were overnight etc is actually.....a teddy bear!! the upset on the deleted thread was she was sent a ss pressie of toys for her ds...and she happens to have toys (different ones though) on her for sale picturetrail. mner who sent them understandably feels like she has been taken for a mug.

and the biggest shock is that all the pram huns were sticking up for her. I assume it was deleted as people started taking the piss and you could see it was going to get nasty.

grumpy bumble, grumpy mummy (three hours sleep) and out of control dd.

but we made it to stay'n'play today and met my Nov MN budduy who lives round the corner.

I was going to try a knitting group bit thought they'd all be pros and i'd feel stoopid. good on you for going to one.

Jammy, I would go with the confidence thing, not the appearence thing as an explanation. I think when you make a bit more of an effort with your appearence you do feel a bit better about yourself. If I look like shit and someone is talking to me I constantly think 'they must be thinking I look like a right skank!' and can't concentrate.

Btw, this is expensive but might be worth investing in Jammy for redness. Might be worth getting a mini makeover for some advice.

I'm attempting to make this

JammyQueenOfTheNewYear · 09/01/2009 14:14

That is good Bumper, I used to use it but recently found it just makes me look even more flaky. Was waaaay old though so I just cleared out what was left as I have this week that a touch of foundation makes heaps of difference. When skin in better nick might try it again though.

LittleMissNorty · 09/01/2009 14:22

What a shame I missed that thread.

Poor DD Foxy....there really is so much going around atm....how we've escaped so far, god only knows.....will probably come in about 4 weeks time when I have a newborn whose not allowed calpol.

Good on you Jammy .....if my DH caught me doing all that, he'd think his luck was in....the most he gets to do atm is rub moisteriser into my swollen ankles . when I'm not at work (all the time then atm), I live in trackies, unwashed and sometimes unbrushed hair and no make-up. But believe me, I feel like I look....I had a 2 hour nap this morning and still feel like shit.

We had a row at 1am cos DH moaned about my snoring. I can't fucking help it, and I can't move either.....I'm like this huge puffed up whale incapable of moving....so I ended up sleeping in the single bed in DDs room.

Sorry...bit of a rant that turned into .

LackaDAISYcal · 09/01/2009 14:24

poor dd foxy

get some egg white on the nappy rash; works wonders

i try and make an effort appearance wise, but it's so easy to forget onesself after all the kidsare done. Least i do is a bit of foundation and some eyeliner.

have been using aldi's 1.99 face cream; it's fab. and although i normally use No7 cosmetics, rimmels recover foundation is great....makes you all dewy looking and isn't too heavy.

agree that if you feel good about yourself then it projects onto others, so prolly a confidence thing jammy rather than thinking you looked flaky and unapproachable!

poor baggins too, conjunctivitis is horrible

LackaDAISYcal · 09/01/2009 14:25

norty....sorry for your dh woes, but shouldn't it be him in the spare bed???

OP posts:
LittleMissNorty · 09/01/2009 14:27

well you would have thought so wouldn't you Daisy...... Don't get me started. I shall take great pleasure in telling him I slept all morning.....and I shall just sleep in with DD from now on.

happynewRia · 09/01/2009 16:03

Pah, men.

just been and bought some wrapping paper for the party tomrrow, and I have a paper cut

doing a little "rose and castle" design for something - tis fun.

poor baggins still got a nasty bum. He has quite big red spopts in his bappy area above his tiddler, not nappy rash. what do german measles look like? off to google symptoms...

happynewRia · 09/01/2009 16:04

Nappy

happynewRia · 09/01/2009 19:13

Hi FF, hope you're settling in well.
Hey Tbelle, come on with those names...

JammyQueenOfTheNewYear · 09/01/2009 19:24

Evening all. I'm feeling suitably relaxed now after a large G&T Felt like I'd earned it after a bit of a stressy afternoon with jamlet beating me up with her toys

And yes, come on TB, don't taunt us with the promise of names and then keep us all (apart from Daisy who already knows ) on tenterhooks!

happynewRia · 09/01/2009 19:39

hi jammy. I'm waiting for my glass of wine, have to collect DS1 and his friend from youth group first (too darned cold and baggins too poorly to walk) Then I am going to ring my mum in NZ

I really enjoyed doing my rose and castle. think i might try a bigger project next, need some new paints though. If I had more time, money, patience and talent I would be quite good

BumpermightsuetheSindie · 09/01/2009 19:56

Evening. It's soooo cold I can barely type or knit as my hands are seizing up . DH is making me a hottie bottie though, and I am having a medicinal glass of wine .

JammyQueenOfTheNewYear · 09/01/2009 20:02

Oh dear I seem to have had my share of our half bottle of desert wine we bought about 4 years ago and have only just round to drinking.
