Ohforfoxsake · 26/01/2009 21:15

IMVHO obviously. I think I'm going to go and lie down and watch Masterchef and America's Next Top Model. Night all

LackaDAISYcal · 26/01/2009 21:21

aw, thanks guys

I'm watching the Hugh FW chicken thing...a follow up to last year's programme.

Where is Ria?

night

I agree with Foxy, Bumper....I do a full time job in 30 hours a week, and its fucking difficult....even more so when DD is ill as I feel so torn (she goes to nursery....wouldn't be so bad if care was split between us). And when I went off on mat leave again, it was mentioned in my speech "she's only been back a year...." . I'm a line manager for a few staff and am constantly phoned / texted and e-mailed at home - even now on mat leave. It is really tough....and not how it should be....yo should be able to acheive a decent work / life balance (or so the NHS tell me....I think you also work for a large employer don't you)..can you bring it up at your next apprasial?

LackaDAISYcal · 26/01/2009 21:29

Every woman I know who supposedly works a professional part time job does far more hours now than they get paid for. Why companies are against part time I don't know, cos as far as I can see they are winning.

OP posts:
JammyQueenOfTheNewYear · 27/01/2009 07:15

I realise I am VERY lucky regarding my work arrangements. I am paid for 19 hours a week, and I have only done the occasional hour of unpaid extra work. And the management are very good about remembering I work part time so I don't get overloaded with work even.

FrazzledFairyFay · 27/01/2009 18:43

Where is everyone today?

LittleMissNorty · 27/01/2009 18:47

I wondered that as well.....

I've been in day assessment all day AGAIN due to BP....but all ok and back Friday for pre-op assessment

Fury....how are you today?

FrazzledFairyFay · 27/01/2009 18:48

glad all ok Norty. I had similar problems with DS and spent hours on those BP machines, it was so tedious and frustrating. Hang in there

Bumperslucious · 27/01/2009 18:50

Hi all thanks for the sympathy. Fortunately I work flexi time so I only work the number of hours I'm supposed to or I can build it up and take time off or go home early. But for eg we have 9 of these reports to get out and my boss said to me and my colleague we had to get one each a week out, which is fine for my colleague but it won't leave me much time left for the rest of my job. As an after thought he said 'I know it will take a big chunk of your time. You do 4 and XXX can do 5'. Hmmm, big consolation.

The thing is my work are really in to flexible working they just don't equip you with the skills to manage it.

Today I said to my colleague, 'I'm going home at 3' and he said 'why?', well you arse, as if it is any of your business I was in at 7.30 this morning, which you wouldn't know since you rock up at 10.30, I have been up since 3am this morning with a crying poorly baby who I want to get home too so don't be fucking surprised if I go home a little earlier than you do!

And breathe...

Sorry, tired and manic, hope I don't have another night like last night.

Bumperslucious · 27/01/2009 18:53

Oooh x posts. Norty, it won't be long now and it will all be over!

Hope fury is ok.

Hi fairy, jammy, everyone. Just popping on while DD in the bath then going to bed early.

LittleMissNorty · 27/01/2009 19:21

well I'm not going to let a midwife anywhere near me till Friday morning cos I am not spending another day there .

I've driven over 100 miles today, getting DD over to my sisters, to hosp and then all again in reverse, and a ligament has stuck in my knee IYKWIM and I can hardly walk ....awkward driving position I think, so i'm going to have to keep it local as well.

Some old fart nearly wrote off my car as well today, by backing out of his driveway on a busy road, and only looking one way. Twat!

Bumper, hope DD is a bit better and responding to calpol etc. Take no notice of colleagues like that.....was he male? I just had an e-mail from my line manager....a bloke...."good luck for next week G...let us know the result"....the result....well a baby I hope will be the result!!

Ohforfoxsake · 27/01/2009 20:28

Now it really is next week, isn't it Norty? How are you feeling about it. (It is the 2nd, isn't it?)

I hope Fury is OK too. Have stalked checked on Facebook, but she hasn't updated today.

JammyQueenOfTheNewYear · 27/01/2009 20:43

Oh Norty, sorry you've been through it again today. But yes, it really is very close now! Exciting!! I'm away Tues - Thurs next week, so I'll presumably miss the news? Hint - can someone who has my mobile number (Daisy/Bumper?) let me know???

Can't believe how much I've just saved on household insurance - £20 per month Well worth the time sorting it out!

Bumper, sorry you're having more with work. Hope things improve soon.

And Fury, hope you're OK?

And finally Hi to Foxy and anyone else lurking out there

HellHathNoFury · 27/01/2009 20:58

Thanks all for well wishes...
Am ok, EPU wouldn't see me so I went to GP who said that since bleeding has stopped it should be ok but to go to A&E if I am still worried or if bleeding starts again.
Only thing she found 'wrong' was that my BP was so low it showed up that I was dead.

Anyway - I am ok, feeling a bit faint and tired and emotionally worn out so off to bed.

Night all

JammyQueenOfTheNewYear · 27/01/2009 21:02

That's rubbish that EPU wouldn't see you Fury, but glad you're OK.

LackaDAISYcal · 27/01/2009 21:15

fury, glad things have settled down a bit. From personal experience there's sod all A&E can do as they don;t often have access to a sonographer or ultrasound machine and will only refer you to the EPU anyway.

would you consider a private scan?

also ime your doc is being a bit shit! what did he/she say about the low BP?

I lost bumble's only dummy today. cue lots of screaming (oh how quickly he has gotten used to it) from him and me as I was accusing DD of having swiped it. Fast forward four hours and me changing his nappy....yup it was in his wrap . I've now bought another four and found the partner of the one in the nappy so we are dummied up!

OP posts:
JammyQueenOfTheNewYear · 28/01/2009 08:34

You know you've had an early start when your LO goes down for a nap before "thought for the day" comes on the radio Actually, I shouldn't grumble because it was only 6am (not 3am like poor Bumper yesterday, I hope you had a better start today Bumper?) and with her going down for a nap at 7.45, I've got the washing on, the kitchen clean, the dining room tidy, the bread machine loaded, and bags ready to go out. So my chores are done and it's only just gone 8.30

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 28/01/2009 08:49

Morning all.

Fury, I hope you are feeling well this morning and you managed to get some sleep. Sending un-MNy ((((HUGS)))) your way.

Bumper, that is shit about work, I think you need to request some sort of meeting and air your concerns. It is not fair to expect you to do FT work on PT hours. Hope your dd is better.

Daisy, I have found a dummy in my cleavage before. It was lost for ages and it only re-appeared when I undid my bra to feed ds! I could lose small children down there!

I had a lovely day yesterday! Went to Basingstoke shopping and went to TKMaxx. OMG! Some brilliant bargains to be had in their clearance sale! I bought a pair of PJs for £2, a silver plated picture frame for 70p and a pair of genuine Ugg slippers for £5!! Also if any of your girlies require new shoes then get thee down to Clarks sharpish! All their sale shoes and boots are £10! I bought dd a pair of boots and a pair of shoes. They had very little in the way of boys' shoes, but loads of small girls' (size 4-6) boots.

HellHathNoFury · 28/01/2009 10:25

Daisy I wanted a private scan but DH won't pay for it.

I am too exhausted to fight anyway.

am sure it will be fine.

Yes my GP is useless - have found the whole system here to be a bit of a rude shock after Reading, where it was lovely and easy.

LittleMissNorty · 28/01/2009 11:41

Have you booked in with a MW Fury.....?

Morning all

LittleMissNorty · 28/01/2009 11:42

well I say "all", but there is no-one....is everyone lurking, or am I the only one without a RL?

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 28/01/2009 11:52

I have no rl either. I want to go out, but have to wait for DHL . Also I think my new pushchair will come today, I am nearly wetting myself with excitement!

How are you feeling norty?

LittleMissNorty · 28/01/2009 11:57

Oh how exciting. I can't wait to use my new double pushchair .

I'm fine - fat and fed up but end in sight now. DD is at nursery today, and so far I have done feck all this morning....sitting here with dripping wet hair....and need to get off my fat arse and go and dry it as I'm going out to lunch with DH....fuck...in an hour....didn't realise that was the time!

Has DP started his new job yet Holly?

Right, off to get dressed!

LackaDAISYcal · 28/01/2009 14:47

no sale stuff left in Clarks here

I've just spent £53 on trainers and shoes for DD

I could have gone to the outlet shop, but it's a bit of a drive.

I have been trying to find a swimsuit for the weekend. Found one in TKMaxx for £6 in the sale; didn't try it on and it's non-returnable. Got home, went to try it on and couldn't even get it over my fat arse. Checked the label and it's a size8 . Not even in my wildest dreams could I get into a size 8 and was probably aged 8 last time I could. so, going away in two days and have no swimsuit and can't find anywhere online that does next day delivery.

arses; looks like I'll have to wear my maternity one

OP posts:
JammyQueenOfTheNewYear · 28/01/2009 14:59

Arse indeed about the swimsuit Daisy I am still wearing my maternity one as my normal one had just about given up the ghost by the time I started wearing the mat one, so that's all I have at the moment and have been scared to find what size I need now . I want to start going taking jamlet again though, as well as going for exercise myself, so must get something sorted. Speaking of exercise, last night I said to myself that no matter what I was going to have a couple of miles walking today, before we went to the children's centre. P'ing down this morning though. But I did it anyway, 2.5 miles walked, instead of the direct 0.5 mile route there And I called in at the pool/gym to ask about membership. Just got to work out now if I can afford it (and the creche) and if I'll get enough use from it to make it worthwhile.
