cup of tea obviously

sambo303mincepiesconsumed · 23/12/2008 10:24

thanks oops I'll have a hot choccie please. Whipped cream on top, super..

albs, I too had a crying baby at 10pm. DP settled him by playing the guitar to him - it always makes him stop crying! He was up at 4am and 5.45am to feed though I think the last one was thirst as his nose is so blocked he's breathing through his mouth mostly. I just don't know how you ladies with more than one LO to deal with do it! I am in awe. To think, I used to moan if I had less than 8 hours sleep!

TS what a grim situation with your DB, can you not send him a text saying hope you enjoyed the cake, season's greetings etc?

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 23/12/2008 10:44

Kurt slept 10.30-6am!!!!! Longest ever!!!! Then, after half an hour's playing with us, DS1 went downstairs and played all by himself til 9.30 (DD was still asleep) so have had even more sleep. What fab Xmas pressies from my thoughtful little boys eh? So I am still in my PJs and have not even wiped the counter yet for rolling pastry...

Oops, I'm intrigued, perhaps it was the same people who sent Sazzles the mysterious flowers LOL.

TS, high 5 on that comedy cake sneakaroo backfiring on your SIL. That's Christmas completed for you, no?

Ann, you buy him a small pressie (posh choc bar or something) and you tell him how hurt you are and you will forgive him but that he has til New Year's eve to make it up with:
1.Birthday gift/treat for you
2.Christmas gift/treat for you
3.Gift from Seb to you
If he does all these things you must never mention it again (unless he does it again next year). Remind him that you are very low maintenance and all you ask for is a little thought spared for you in the year that you have gone through hell and back to give him a son.
Can you tell I've been there too?

AndHeaVanAnnNatureSing · 23/12/2008 10:50

Buckets - great advice thanks. he just says he hasn't got time to get me anything. But he's managed to buy for everyone else, including his secret santa at work. He MIGHT get me a present, but I know he hasn't yet. So if he decides he's too tired to do it tonight after work then it simply won't happen. I'm not fixated on getting gifts all the time, but I don't like the idea that both occasions when I should get one, he hasn't bothered.
Doesn't help that little man has decided that he has to wake up about 10.30 each night, and not go back to sleep till one am why?

ataraxmas · 23/12/2008 10:57

oops - I'll have coffee if it's not too cold!

buckets - yay! I dream of a full night sleep - albs - I'm with you - DD was only waking once a night for a quick feed for ages, but the last week or so there has been so much going on that she has been all out - which means more night waking .

ann - maybe he has bought you something as a surprise [hopeful emoticon]?
If not, and he has bought others, you absolutely have to tell him how low down his priorities it makes you feel. Difficult to do without having a blokey response (hormonal/irrational etc) just make sure he isn't too tired at the time (amazing how they manage to get soooo tired, but we have to cope with no sleep for months on end) - bucket's idea sounds like a good plan.

last carpets going down as we speak

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 23/12/2008 11:11

Sazzles or anyone really but Sazzles will get the biggest kick I think. An amusing video for anyone who likes cats and engineers.

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 23/12/2008 11:17

After X years together I don't think it's too much for them to be able to calculate which is the greater hassle: wife with hurt feelings or purchase of a box of chocs and a bath bomb. They are not children!

cyLENTeeNIGHT · 23/12/2008 11:36

Ann, no excuses - your DP is downright rude if he doesn't get you a present. I would be furious and would give him both barrels, frankly. Like Buckets says, he's not a child.

ataraxmas · 23/12/2008 12:08

actually, agree with the others, strike what i said about timing - if he is bought other presents and just not you that is even wronger.

are you going to wait until after Christmas tho just in case?

sambo303mincepiesconsumed · 23/12/2008 12:14

Ann what a meanie!! for you, in fact make that

I have a mega list of chores to do which is why I'm on mn . after chores which involve driving to 3 local towns, I have to start work on my magnum opus - Antonio Carluccio's 'La Grande Lasagne Di Vegetali' for which I am dusting off my pasta maker and making the lasagne sheets. Must need my head examined! It's dp's last day before the hols so I hope he's home early to baby sit so I can roll my sleeves up. I seem to remember starting making this at 6pm last time and was still in the kitchen at 10pm

cyLENTeeNIGHT · 23/12/2008 12:40

good luck sambo that's dedication!

my lovely SIL is coming to visit shortly well looking forward to that, we haven't seen each other since joe was about a week old. she'll get a shock when she sees what a biffer he is now

i need dessert advice: i have some stuff in the fridge to use up (double cream, creme fraiche) and said i'd make a dessert to take to best mate's house on xmas eve...is there anything i can make that will use my leftover stuff and survive a car journey down the M1 tomorrow?

no1putsantaupthechimney · 23/12/2008 13:10

I agree sleep is for the weak.

about 9 wake ups here from ds
about 2/3 from dd cant remember all blurrrrrred into one constant night wake.
ggggggggrrrrrr hugs to all up too
buckets at Kurt sleeping but also pleased for you too.

I have decided that I am co-sleeping tonight even though it scares me shitless, I just cant do another night like that.

sorry for moan be back later, going to try get dd to sleep she is so exhausted but fighting it as usual.

cyteen sorry I not good at improvising on the baking front.

fg hope you are feeling ok
thinking of you.

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 23/12/2008 13:18

Cyteen, you could do a choux pastry circle, bake it split it and fill with mix of whipped cream, creme fraiche, icing sugar and whatever other flavour you've got - looks deceptively amazing. Choux pastry is easy and quicker than a meringue for pavlova, google Delia or someone. Flavours could be a fruit yoghurt, pie filling, melted choc or even just grated lemon or satsuma zest.

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 23/12/2008 13:20

Right have got sausage parcel in the oven (realised right at the last second it was ready-rolled pastry LOL), cheesecake base in the fridge, guinea pigs still living in their own filth though. Got to wake baby and feed him to fit in with my schedule. God, my big two have been so good today!

TwilightSurferChristmasAngel · 23/12/2008 14:07

Sambo, I'm with you on the grand list of chores. MN will be only for "breaks" today.

Ann, DP having purchased gifts for others puts this problem in a whole new light.

Buckets, I loved the video. Zoe actually looks like my Buddy. Sent the video on to DH who works with LOADS of engineers.

DD1 is very please with herself today. She's not wet the bed at night in over a week AND she's figured out how to put on her new tennis shoes ALL BY HERSELF. She's a very proud person today.

off to more cleaning activities so i can have a merry christmas............

FestiveGardenia · 23/12/2008 15:28

End of term hurrah!

ds slept not too badly - woke at 4 and 5.30 - we feel more human and the Christmas fun starts here, though I still have no ham, no cranberries, etc etc. I am going to light the fire this afternoon, we don't have to leave the house again today (carol service this am) so we are going to eat, drink and lie on the carpet playing Monopoly etc.

I don't know about the uke but one of my new year's res. is going to be practise piano and get cracking with guitar. I can't really play either but it's good for me!

I daren't think what's going on at Hot Mamas. I have just eaten the most enormous lunch at a lovely restaurant after the carols. I feel as tight as ds's tummy when he overfeeds... thinking about what someone said about settling skills I think perhaps I offer boob too readily too - I know it's good to offer comfort etc but should I be doing it through food?

sambo303mincepiesconsumed · 23/12/2008 15:51

Hi fg glad you got a bit of sleep, it makes a world of difference. Very of your real fire, how Christmassy

I've b een popping onto Hot Mamas occasionally mainly to report how little I've done. I even reported that I looked at a sign saying 'Hot Bikram Yoga' - not quite the same as going to a class.

Just back from Chore-a-thon. Picked up crate of wine (6 free bottles included, there is an upside to the credit crunch). Dont know who's going to drink it as I'm practically teetotal but it's comforting to have it in the house

NoroomattheCaveman · 23/12/2008 16:03

afternoon all, scuse the smell but ds2 is on my left arm and is filling his nappy as i type phooo hoooo what a wiffler!!

All christmas presents wrapped and up the loft, we are just praying ds2 doesn't breathe a word of it to ds1 coz he saw us wrapping ALL the prezzies!

DS1's last ever day at nursery today before he starts school on Jan 6th. How did that ever happen? He's still my baby!! I'm going to pick him up soon. Apparently when dh dropped him off this morning, ds walked in and said "Its my last day today, I never have to come here ever again!" Honest, he does love it there!!

ann your dp needs a good kick up the ass, how mean not to buy you anything. I would be too. I would also feel the need to be childish and put him on a guilt trip by 'lovingly' buying him gifts from you AND seb. Lots of little things. So he REALLY feels bad. God I'm childish

TwilightSurferChristmasAngel · 23/12/2008 17:15

Ann posted on FB she's taking Seb to hospital.

TwilightSurferChristmasAngel · 23/12/2008 17:16

her post was 17min ago.

TwilightSurferChristmasAngel · 23/12/2008 17:16

MN's been down.

to ANN & SEB

sambo303mincepiesconsumed · 23/12/2008 20:13

eurgh, exhausted, lasagne finished!

now got to finish xmas baubles for my nephew and DS

Glass of wine and mincepie for strength first

{{more positive vibes to Ann + Seb}}

sambo303mincepiesconsumed · 23/12/2008 20:14

er - one glass every other day is 'practically teetotal' to me

MerrySibhmas · 23/12/2008 20:26

Any news on Seb?
I hope things are ok, Ann.

TwilightSurferChristmasAngel · 23/12/2008 20:39

no word....
i've logged back in forth throughout the day watching for news.
