Crawling

loulou33 · 31/01/2009 20:43

lol honeymoonmuumy - can't believe your having carpets with a small baby with reflux!! [didn't see that post before] We have wooden floors with rugs on ....i would recommend you get a washer vaccuum thingy as i think you might need one....all our rugs had sick splatter stains from ds1 until he stopped puking and throwing food about and then i cleaned them all before Joe arrived. they are all covered in vomit stains again. i am waiting till he stops vomiting and then i'll do it all again....

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/01/2009 20:45

Oh yes, and then there's when it comes time to potty train...

OP posts:
loulou33 · 31/01/2009 21:48

sorry myjob - am a bit a way from you, in fact i don't think we could get much further away!! Would love to see Naomi though.

csws - i always knew you were the brains of the operation!! Will be visiting Exeter as soon as a i can bear to fly with 2 small children - probably a while yet then.

...oh yes, wee/poo stains on the carpet, i'd forgotten about them. dh changed joe's very messy nappy a few days ago and before he'd finished wiping him, he'd put Joe a**e down on the rug so he couild get more wipes - cue yellow stain on the rug. God knows why he couldn't have put a change mat down but there you go. have to be careful if ds1 is eating in the lounge and drops something on that particular spot (yum)....right off to bed now

Oh god, potty training... the lounge/ dining carpet is a very light mustard colour - what was I thinking?????
Rugs. Lots of rugs is the way forward.

Honeymoonmummy · 31/01/2009 22:22

Do u really think I should get a refund? I think they might give me one.

SmudgeyDoodle · 31/01/2009 22:36

How about a compromise Honeymoon and put carpet in lounge and bedroom and laminate elsewhere? In our rented house, DS peed on the carpet the other day (we haven't even started potty training, he was just messing about before going in the bath) and DD regularly threw up for the first 2 months. The carpet is cream - or maybe more accurately, was cream!
It would be lovely to have a meet up but in all honesty, I can't really see it happening because we all live so far apart. Would be great though to see the people that we've all shared so much with.

heather1980 · 31/01/2009 22:48

a meet up would be lovely!
anyone here in manchester?

speaking of carpets, i have spent all day today shampooing our living room one, it was disgusting and dd isn't even potty trained yet!

pepperrabbit · 31/01/2009 22:56

Now then honeymoonmummy don't panic. We have carpet everywhere except kitchen & bathroom, and yes, it's not perfectly clean but honestly - the worst stains are red wine and shoe polish! I was always happier with the idea of a softer surface for the babies and we've been quite happy.
All carpet was new when I was 6 months PG with DS1 and we bought cheap cos we knew it would be trashed - but he's 4.7 and it's going ok.
It's warmer too I think

Honeymoonmummy · 31/01/2009 22:56

I'm Cheshire Heather. We have laminate already in our bedroom, that's what I wanted to get rid of! I'm just gonna go for it and so be it. I'm going to bed now, night!

Honeymoonmummy · 31/01/2009 22:57

Thanks Pepper!

Anyone want to meet up near London/Surrey?
My Dad and his wife coming here from America for my school holiday - arrive this coming saturday... will be here NINE days!!!! Any ideas on what to do w/ them? They only want to see Q of course, but I imagine 9 days hanging out in our 1 bed flat will get old fast. they will be staying in a hotel across street.
Any cheap ideas for activities w/ grandparents? I will take them into london one day for sightseeing and maybe to a castle...

Honeymoonmummy · 01/02/2009 08:47

Morning all, well Poppy has my cold She's all snuffly, it woke her up this morning. i fed her in the bathroom having filled a hot bath (not in the bath, sitting on the toilet, with the lid down!!!), then DH rang the NHS helpline and that is the wrong thing to do apparently.

they said plenty of feeding, put additional water in gaviscon, karvol or olbas oil ok and to get some nasal saline drops. And to give calpol if she seems in discomfort (how do I tell if its the cold or the bloody reflux???) Oh and to keep her cool and taking her for a walk is ok as long as she's wrapped up.

Any other advice?

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/02/2009 09:00

Bet you wish you'd never mentioned your carpet now .

Advice sounds good honeymoon. I'd get a plug in vaporiser if you can too (karvol or calpol). I'd advise medised too (instead of calpol, not as well as), but you like to follow the instructions on medicine, so prob wouldn't give it .

I'm always up for a meet up, but we do seem to be a geographically diverse bunch! I'm North Herts, but close to Luton airport if anyone wants to fly to see me .

Honeymoonmummy · 01/02/2009 10:46

He gave me a great deal on the lounge carpet cos it was mispriced so i think he'll jump at the chance to change it. I might go for something darker...

DH just brought back the nasal drops - am reading the instructions now

jenwa · 01/02/2009 10:57

plusonemore is the only one in Worcs near me but she not been on here for ages.

I was thinking of taking dd to airport to watch planes but not sure about flying csws

star Its difficult when people staying for long as you feel you have to always entertain but I am sure they can have some days out by themselves too

Shame on weather as if nicer you can go for walks etc, although still can if you wrap up. Castle good idea but remember pushchairs not that great on the grounds there as always uneven and inside you wont be able to go up the tower if there is one and you wanted to off course!

Shops and sightseeing always good but have alook at places before hand top check childfriendly as Q might do an explosive nappy and you will need changing facilities
although can be done in the boot of the car if you lucky!
Aquariums nice and calm to wakk about although maybe busy with school holidays but its an idea.
I am sure someone else will have some good ideas!

Honeymoon - My DD has had a blocked nose FOREVER, well since she was born. The saline nose drops made her really unhappy. Someone on MN recommended using breast milk up her nose instead which is what we do now. She still doesn't enjoy it very much but it seems to bother her less than the saline did. Plus it works just as well!

We do seem to be scattered all over the country. I'm in Kent.

Honeymoonmummy · 01/02/2009 16:05

I have a mental image of you sticking a nipple up her nose now MM!

I just tried it on myself (the saline drops, not the nipple) and it does feel quite cold but they are not botherig Poppy too much.

CSWS DH just got a plug in calpol vaporiser, thanks, the instructions say for three months plus, which isn't till Thursday, but what the hell!!

Poppy and I have spent the day in bed, she seems in a good mood considering. Have not given any calpol yet, might give her one before bedtime.

Honeymoonmummy · 01/02/2009 16:58

Dammit my phone has started making "I'm about to blow up" noises!!

Can anyone recommend a good PAYT moby with a good camera?

Honeymoonmummy · 01/02/2009 19:53

Where is everybody today? Poppy has just had an explosive green poo - that's because of the cold isn't it?

Marthasmama · 01/02/2009 20:23

Yes probably. She's probably got a bit of an upset tummy with the cold. Martha has a cold too and the last nappy I changed was green. Is Poppy eating ok? Sometimes green poo can mean they're getting too much watery foremilk. But, it is most likely to do with cold. Our poor autumnal babies! They seem to always be ill! Roll on summer! Oh and is the face Martha pulls when her food goes up her nose!
