I have a new mantra after last night... sleep is for wimps!

WeWishYouAMiamlaChristmas · 07/12/2008 08:06

dizz, I couldn't give him DS, DP wouldn't go near him.kept complaining of the noise etc. Apparently i didn't understand how awful he felt As far as i see it, its DP's loss

sazzles... breakfast in bed? i wish! he won't be up for a fair few hours yet

but...sssh...keep this amongst yourselves and don't break the spell.... DS is sleeping at night!!! we went from 7 wake ups to 3 wake ups and now we're on 1 (between 9.30 and 6.25)

what's changed do i hear you ask? well, DS now has (as of 3 nights ago) a strict bedtime routine (bath at 6, story, feed) and no naps after 4pm

I really really hope we've turned a corner and that this is how its going to be for a little while [fingers crossed]

ataraxmas, if you're not doing a routine already, i strongly recommend it!

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 07/12/2008 09:40

Morning all.
Don't forget that discount calendars make great Xmas pressies too

dizzyjingles · 07/12/2008 09:55

am farking RUINED, I swear am typing this with my head leaning upwards to stop my eyeballs falling out I don't even have the energy for Christmas smileys

I was tag teamed all night by the coughing duo, would bet money on DD1 joining in too had she been here so am merciful for small blessings.

Dylan now has DD2's terrible hacking cough and nose running like a tap in full flow - am no longer suspicious she's getting it, it is here

have spent the night sitting up as she' can't be put flat on her back and dh was working till 3am and pram was of course in the car. both of them got medicine twice throughout period of night AND I had to change the bed as Dylan peed on it whilst I was changing her 5th nappy as everytime she coughed she pooped a little

she also threw up on me twice so her clothes had to be changed twice too

its just now funny at all. DH helped a lot once he got home, saline drops, etc etc but he is nightshift starting tonight at 9am so although he got up with DD2 I've sent him back to his bed (Dylan still asleep in there) whilst I sort out DD2 - i.e more Peppa Pig and cheerios

she's already asked me for biscuits and ice cream and we've only been up half an hour - thats my girl

poppy if you've had any others for Tuesday I'd take them up on it, this bug is NOT amusing in the slightest and certainly not what you want with a long drive ahead of you I keep meaning to ask how the feeding is going?

so, in summary, thank you if you've come this far into my self indulgent rant and huge sympathies for all those with snotty/snuffly non sleeping babies - having had 2wks worth of Dylan sleeping through I think I've got out of the knack of being able to cope and am sitting here a big dribbling mess

well done on the Christmas names ladies

LWFH glad he was good for you on the flight, lovely to have you home

Miamla hope its your turn to get a well deserved lie in today

[meep]

no1putsantaupthechimney · 07/12/2008 10:34

vg do you need water and paracetamol

hope you had a great night

dizzyjingles · 07/12/2008 10:37

no1 am hoping VG has had such a good night she's in need of at least IrnBru

FestiveGardenia · 07/12/2008 10:50

LOL ladies do you know i was verrrry good! I was worried not so much about feeding ds as about handling him if I'd had too much. I only fed him once during the party but he got up twice after everyone was gone! So am shattered, but not expecting any sympathy. There is so much drink here now... anyone for a whiskey and Coke ?

FestiveGardenia · 07/12/2008 10:51

dingdong so glad to hear you are not a longwayfromhome any more! Your family must be tickled pink to have you back.

dizzyjingles · 07/12/2008 10:53

now you might have been very good but this was an IRISH party for crying out loud - there must be a drunken passed out body in a cupboard or under a table somewhere - have you checked everyone is accounted for?!?

FestiveGardenia · 07/12/2008 10:58

There are a few stray phones and coats but the only passed out body is that of DP ...

FestiveGardenia · 07/12/2008 10:59

munch munch

dizzyjingles · 07/12/2008 11:01

red or brown sauce? sorry, I forgot to ask

not a very good hostess for you hangover, I apologise!

WeWishYouAMiamlaChristmas · 07/12/2008 12:23

nope, no lie in for me, up at 6.25 as usual! DP still not happy so i've been trying to cheer him up with toast and tea. i know i know, he should be making it for me but trust me, if it cheers him up just a little bit it'll be worth it

DS is such a wonderful little soul. if it wasn't for him I wouldn't have had any smiles or cuddles in the last few weeks

WeWishYouAMiamlaChristmas · 07/12/2008 12:24

VG, are you sure there aren't any bodies in the coats?!

dizz, hope you're planning on having a lazy pyjama day today

no1, nope! not a clue!

no1putsantaupthechimney · 07/12/2008 12:37

I had my first lay in this morning.
I know what you mean though, sometimes waiting around for them to make the effort makes atmosphere more tense, I do it end up winding myself up, and they are none the wiser.
So I understand why you made the tea and toast. did that make sense???

I am having a lazy pyjama day. I have very successfully got both dcs to sleep. together at the same time.

Can you tell how chuffed I am.
all still in pjS which is a first.

dh gone to club for a drink with his dad.
His dad called this am with a treat for dd and the dog as he does every sunday.
I am about to take the beef out of slow cooker to finish off in the oven etc..in the oven, which has all been prepared by dh this am.
We are eating earlier as have friends calling this afternoon who we havnt seen since last xmas. they called then to see dd for first time and are now coming to meet ds

no1putsantaupthechimney · 07/12/2008 12:39

I should add that my dh used to work on same shift, but now they dont so we dont see them that often, also they have been TTC for a long time and I think she finds it difficult.

ok I am going now, as I am rambling on and on and ..........

hope sazzles is having fun in the caves.

TwilightSurferChristmasAngel · 07/12/2008 14:40

{{{{{hugs}}}}} dizzy

AndHeaVanAnnNatureSing · 07/12/2008 15:40

Hi all. GOsh I'm away for a couple of days and look how much you've all talked! Haven't caught up yet. I had to give Seb some alco-boobie last night, as he'd drunk ALL the expressed milk I left with MIL, so had to feed him when we picked him up at 12.40 AM he was still awake, but I don't think MIL tried THAT hard to get him to sleep. Oh well. Had a FAB night out with DP at L'Escargot. Food was gorgeous. I even wore a skirt hehe. Anyway, must run, as I promised DP I would do some washing up while he's out at Morrisons, so had better get a wiggle on.

WeWishYouAMiamlaChristmas · 07/12/2008 18:30

no1, makes perfect sense

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 07/12/2008 19:24

DD's both in bed, scrubbed and smelling so scrumptious i could eat them

Had a mixed trip to the Caves . The caves and lights were beautiful and a lovely Xmas market at the end. The only problem was the queue for Father Christmas took over an hour and then when DD1 met him she threw a wobbler. I think she was a bit scared TBH, despite having gone on and on for the last hour that she wanted to see him . So, by the time we got past Santa, DD1 was crying, worked herself into a tantrum and then DH flounced off with her saying he was going out of the caves. I managed to rescue DD1, calm her down (oh, look, a snowman.....he's got red gloves! - why DH can't think of this, rather than performing a caveman dragging his prey off i have no idea ).

We then went and had a lovely pub lunch with our friends and DD1 was pretty good despite being very tired and saying 'sausages' every time a waitress walked past in the hope her meal might come quicker

dizzy sorry to hear the family are still unwell and you are at the coalface of it all. I'm not sure how we managed to come out of the other end of 2.5 weeks of it but we are here to tell the tale and am sure you will be too

VG glad you enjoyed the party and ann very of your meal and post midnight arrival home. Hopefully some just you and DP time has brought you back along the same path

No1 your dinner sounds lovely and glad you got a lie in and both DC's asleep at the same time. A 'fecking parenting genius award to you me thinks'

MIamla i hope DH has finally surfaced from his doldrums and is treating you like a princess

I am officially not breastfeeding anymore, yippee!!! The 2 feeds in the early hours this morning seemed to just annoy us both so I decided that's it. Desperately need new bras - BF ones are too big in cup, normal ones are too small in cup and weirdly too small in back.

Any BFers a 32J bra size? I have a brand new nursing bra from when I bought 2 sizes to try on and never got round to returning this one.

Went to Asda and stocked up on bottles, new teats, food pots, weaning spoons and baby food as it's so cheap there and I don't go there very often. Kurt is 18w now and I'll hold off weaning until I get bored of waiting - it's so all about MEEEEE!!!

Cavey are you sterilising spoons and pots? I can't remember what I used to do.

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 07/12/2008 20:05

buckets well done you on 18 weeks of BF that you didn't necessarily enjoy all the time. I'm afraid i'm rather larger than a 32 and rather smaller than a J

Regarding sterilising, if you get to 6 months before weaning then i would say no, as by that point they are shoving all and sundry into their mouths (dd1 shoes ) so no point really. Up to 6 months i would probably just wash in the dishwasher or very hot water if you can't be bothered with sterilising
