I'm glad DD1 is feeling better, TS. You poor thing at the concert. She sounds like such a bright and cool girl and being conscious of being watched by lots of people, and noticing it, can be very daunting for small children.

I've found though that after the most outrageous displays mine have ever produced everyone involved has been more than kind when I've seen them next. at preschool teacher's choice of words though. Tactless at best don't you think? Is she a 'no child of mine will ever ...' kind of person?

at No1's HV too.

An acquaintance called for lunch today with her little girl who is the same age as DD, and after saying hello her first words were 'Is that your wedding picture - you don't look like that at ALL now. Not at ALL' followed by 'Ooh, I wish I had a small house.'

Santy will not be calling to these people unless they buck their ideas up.

TwilightSurferChristmasAngel · 17/12/2008 15:57

Here's some dates to help get the conversation started. Note: I am not going to be there.

Tuesday 13th of January was suggested.
Isn't that the other meet up date though. Remember Sazzles wants to join the London girls.

Thursday 15th of January

Tuesday 20th of January

Wednesday 21st of January

no1putsantaupthechimney · 17/12/2008 16:09

WeWishYouAMiamlaChristmas · 17/12/2008 16:41

london meet up suggested dates
miamla - 21/1/09
annvan - any weekday
albs - ?
no1 - ?
sazzles - ?

sorry, these are just names off top of my sleep deprived head. feel free to add yourself if i've missed you!

not sure if preg1 is still lurking, i'll text and ask her

cyLENTeeNIGHT · 17/12/2008 16:44

no1 there's a bf baby growth chart for boys here. And lol at your neighbour's new LO making you broody - like, what doesn't?

TS I'm so looking forward to the weaning stage. My NCT friends are all starting as their babies are older and it sounds so exciting [need a life emoticon] God only knows what will happen once Joe enters the wonderful world of solids though; we'll probably need a forklift to get him out of the house.

In other news, Joe has been doing his utmost to drive me to drink today - whinge, whinge, whinge all day long. Think he is seriously overtired after last night but where is all his energy going? Into resisting sleep by any means necessary. I love him but have been reduced to cramming practically a whole cake into my mouth to cheer myself up. Now sat on sofa with my arm going numb under comatose post-feed baby and the bloody bastard cat, who ten minutes earlier ate a piece of stray pineapple off my cake, has just sauntered in and been noisily sick all over our nice brown rug, right in front of me. All I could do was watch in impotent fury as I can't risk waking the baby

cyLENTeeNIGHT · 17/12/2008 16:53

and now the cat has woken him up anyway AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH FUCK SAKE

TwilightSurferChristmasAngel · 17/12/2008 17:00

With only 7 sleeps till Christmas I thought it okay to share this email I just received.
Merry Merry!!

***

Dear Santa,
I've been a good mom all year. I've fed, cleaned and cuddled my children on demand, visited the doctor's office more than my own doctor, sold sixty-two cases of candy bars to raise money to plant a shade tree on the school playground. I was hoping you could spread my list out -- over several Christmases.

Since I had to write this letter with my son's red crayon, on the back of a receipt in the laundry room between cycles; and who knows when I'll find any more free time in the next 18 years, so now - -

Here are my Christmas wishes * I'd like a pair of legs that don't ache (-in any color, except purple, which I already have) and arms that don't hurt or flap in the breeze; but are strong enough to pull my screaming child out of the candy aisle in the grocery store.

  • I'd also like a waist, since I lost mine somewhere in the seventh month of my last pregnancy.

  • If you're hauling big-ticket items this year, I'd like fingerprint resistant windows and a radio that only plays adult music; a television that doesn't broadcast any programs containing talking animals; and a refrigerator with a secret compartment behind the crisper where I can hide to talk on the phone.

  • On the practical side, I could use a talking doll that says, 'Yes, Mommy' to boost my parental confidence, along with two kids who don't fight and three pairs of jeans that will zip all the way up without the use of power tools.

  • I could also use a recording of Tibetan monks chanting, 'Don't eat in the l iving room' and 'Take your hands off your brother,' because my voice seems to bejust out of my children's hearing range and can only be heard by the dog.

  • If it's too late to find any of these products, I'd settle for enough time to brush my teeth and comb my hair in the same morning, or the luxury of eating food warmer than room temperature without it being served in a Styrofoam container.

*If you don't mind, I could also use a few miracles to brighten the holiday season. Would it be too much trouble to declare ketchup a vegetable? It will clear my conscience immensely.

*It would be helpful if you could coerce my children to help around the house without demanding payment as if they were the bosses of an organized crime family.

Well, the buzzer on the dryer is ringing, and my son saw my feet under the laundry room door. I think he wants his red crayon back. Have a safe trip Santa, and remember to leave your wet boots by the door, and come in and dry off, so you don't catch cold. Help yourself to cookies on the table, but don't eat too many or leave crumbs on the carpet.

Yours always with love and appreciation,
A Mom

P.S. One more thing . . You can cancel all my requests, if you can keep my children 'young' enough to believe in Santa.

no1putsantaupthechimney · 17/12/2008 17:43

cyteen do i give the impression i am always broody, really???
thanks for chart.
sorry you having rough day
i would be at cat.
my dog has own toilet area outside, and sometimes she looks at me and goes on grass, usually when wet, and i cant chase her.
farking animals.

ts that is just great, really made my day.

pertelote · 17/12/2008 17:59

Brilliant TS!

london meet up suggested dates
miamla - 21/1/09
annvan - any weekday
albs - ?
no1 - ?
sazzles - ?
pertelote - not a monday, prefer not a weds but could juggle if the 21st suits everyone else!

Do we have a venue? When we mentioned it ages ago people seemed to think the South Bank (near Waterloo) would be convenient... and didn't someone mention Giraffe? There is one there so that would work.

cyLENTeeNIGHT · 17/12/2008 18:12

cheers no1. i do feel bad for the cats as prior to joe's arrival they were the centre of attention and rather spoiled, and now i seem to spend all my time shouting 'stop doing that!' and fending them away from potential baby-harming with my foot. it's hard to find time to give them some attention these days and i feel like a crap pet-mum

oh god i am seriously counting down the seconds here feel awful as i know DP has had a shit day as well, lots of work-related grimness, but i'm still going to shove the baby at him when he walks in, and for what? so i can rush off and empty the nappy bin and clear up cat sick. what a treat.

anyone fancy going in on a private tropical island? i'm sure if we all club together it won't cost that much...

AndHeaVanAnnNatureSing · 17/12/2008 19:37

Hi all. Been and had Seb weighed. He's only put on 41/2 oz in the last 3WEEKS! his weight is down to 25th centile. Lady who weighed him said it's probably down to having been poorly.

No1 I see that Cyteen answered your question - the chart is definitely in my book - so double check yours although it's possible that they could have torn it out, as they tore the FF chart out of mine.
Looking forward to a meetup - I would suggest not doing it the same week as the BRistol one, for the sake of those who want to do both.

no1putsantaupthechimney · 17/12/2008 20:13

cyteen I also feel like a bad pet-mum too. I nagged dh for a dog for 3 years, in the end I just went and got one(got sick of all his drunken promises that he would buy me a Pug for £1000) ridiculous price I know.
I got a Dalmadoodle for £90.
We nearly divorced (well not quite) but as I was a vet nurse I used to take her with me when on long shifts etc...

Now she hardly gets any attention from me, I have walked her twice in about 2 week dh does most things for her.
Some days I want to rehome her.

I cant believe I used to be so annoyed when people came into vets to rehome pets because they were pregnant. I am now one of these people and I hate myself for it.

Ann I will look in my redbook for the chart. I so hope I didnt upset you re the fluffles. I am sure you recommended Bambinex as they are so soft too. My sil friend recommended fluffles. I am sure the wrap I used was shite too.

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 17/12/2008 21:07

Evening all

Had a lovely day at Bristol Zoo today, apart from DD1 practising her 'running away Mummy' . Emma has been in bed since 7.15pm with only a couple of murmers. What has worked for me is to make sure she is awake by 7.30 am and starting using Infacol again. SHe doesn't seem overly windy but this seems to make her more settled at bed time. We shall wait and see if this continues

Re pets: we have 2 goldfish, 2 sucker fish and an unsubstantiated number of mice . No1 i hope you realised that you have insinuated you are pregnant in your last post?

TS love the email and glad DD1 seems unpeterbed by her experience. I think i only remember mine because my mum keeps reminding me how i embarrassed her so

Cyteen i hope DP is home to take over - the constant whingeing can literally eat at your bones

Miamla i can do a london meet and 21st ok for me, although i may seek to palm DD1 off somewhere along the way otherwise i shall never get to chat and we couldn't be doing with that

Sibh DH's nephew came to our house just after we moved and said 'oh, it's very small isn't it Daddy'. Mind you they do live in a rather large mansion so he wasn't wrong in comparison. They still do get Xmas cards!

OP posts:
no1putsantaupthechimney · 17/12/2008 21:20

sazzles no am not preganant, unless my name is Mary.

glad you had good day, hope Emma stays settled for you. I managed to get dd in bed for 7, no wake ups yet.
ds asleep in my arms.
(i must settle him upstairs real soon)
dh in bed, will be going to work at 10pm.

I have managed to palm dd off on step mum for meetup. (i understand what you mean. )

no1putsantaupthechimney · 17/12/2008 21:22

can i ask you question re bedtime routine???

who do you settle first?? I usually bf marcus while sat at side of dd, reading her a story etc...
if dh is home, i try to leave ds with him so she has me to herself.
not always possible.

dizzyjingles · 17/12/2008 21:23

evening all

I have the bloody cold so am all woe is me

am proud owner of lovely new (to us) car though AND managed not to start any barneys at the auction either

no1putsantaupthechimney · 17/12/2008 21:27

sorry you have cold, but congrats on new car.
did you get what you wanted??

dizzyjingles · 17/12/2008 21:35

lol no not quite, we went to look at a ford galaxy but it was STINKING really horribly smelly and obviously not well looked after

got a renault grand scenic instead - no horror stories please am deluding myself into thinking this is the best buy ever and its all going to be fine

DH was cool as a cucumber, I hadn't even realised he'd bought it because it all happened so fast

no1putsantaupthechimney · 17/12/2008 21:42

ooh lovely.
Do they have lots of seats??
Dh wants me to have a 7 seater next time. I got mine for plenty of room, but really there is not enough room.
Dh changed his car to a bigger more comfortable one, but when we went away before I had ds we realized that still more room is needed especially with double pram etc...

dizzyjingles · 17/12/2008 21:43

yes has the 2 at the back that fold into the floor

have just insured it online am VERY (pathetically) excited

no1putsantaupthechimney · 17/12/2008 21:47

Fantasctic. I am so pleased for you, I know you have been looking a while.

I like the idea of them with seats folding underneath. My mum had an MPV but always had to find somewher for seats. They ended up going mouldy in her garage.

dizzyjingles · 17/12/2008 21:49

that was my concern too and they can be very heavy to lift in and out. I would ideally have loved the Galaxy but am a snob and wanted a newer version and they're just too pricey

the renault has a key card which is amusing me at the moment lol

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 17/12/2008 21:50

LOL No1 it was the 'I used to be so annoyed ....... because they were pregnant. I am now one of these people'

Re routine: If i am on my own i do this:
BF Emma
Plonk DD1 in bath, undress Emma, bath her, dress her & put in sleeping bag on bathroom floor (she loves it there )
Play with DD1 in bath, sing songs etc so as to amuse Emma with my out of tune warblings!
Wrestle Get DD1 out of bath, teeth & dressed
Go to DD1's room and read a story whilst BF Emma
If Emma finishes quickly i pop her in her cot and then go back to DD1 and read another story, just the 2 of us
If Emma fussing then i will read DD1 2 stories, say night night to her and then go and settle Emma

If DH is here we both do the bath and then i usually do Emma and he does DD1 as Emma won't have a bottle. If DD1 asks me to do stories then i do her and then go and sort Emma out

dizzy glad you got a new motor - your DH sounds very masterful

OP posts:
oopsIstuffedaturkey · 17/12/2008 21:57

Evening all

Today I managed to get loads sorted and DD and I had to get out or I would have exploded from chaos induced halucinations! We put up our tree tonight and DH has irritated the neighbours by putting his gaudy cute glowing snowman and reindeer on in the garden.

DD has been in bed since 8 and groaned once but still sleeping, for the first time today in ages she had both breasts at bedtime and fed for ages. We started bath, play on the bed, feed, singing, story, feed some more and then bed routine as there is no more traipsing through the house with a wet baby to get to the bedroom.

New car sounds good Dizzy Sibh we have had 'it's not a bad size for an on the street house' from one of the kids I looked after when they first came to visit.

Pets - we have 2 mad cats, 1 goldfish who shares his tank with a tropical fish (we thought by putting them in together one would pop it's clogs but no such luck)

TS do you think he will reply if I send it in the post to him?

Ann Poppy has only put on 6 oz in the last 3 weeks HV said they do slow down slightly when they get to this age - one 7weeks old baby at the baby cafe today had put on 1lb4oz in the last week and he is EBF !

I had better go DH just walked in and said 'Well I'll unpack the dishwasher then shall I' What shall I hit him with electric screw driver? Not even a wow this looks good, dinner smells nice, how was your day, how is bean? nada! If i'm not back tomorrow do a ring around the prisons to find me
