can anyonr remind me whats best for cradle cap please? olive oil or almond oil or????

FestiveGardenia · 08/12/2008 10:09

People usually say olive but I'm sure almond would do. I used coconut with good success.

reverb

AndHeaVanAnnNatureSing · 08/12/2008 10:21

I use olive oil because we ALWAYS have some in. Generally only have Extra Virgin though, so he smells quite pungent after DP says it smells like he's been basted ready for frying

dizzyjingles · 08/12/2008 10:23

lol Ann, we used to use it all the time on DD2 as she was overdue and came out all cracked, dry and wrinkly

it earned her the nickname DD2-Kebab!

VG am sure he smelt good enough to eat

FestiveGardenia · 08/12/2008 10:31

dizzy I think that's why he started sucking his thumb! It usually got coated too.

dizzyjingles · 08/12/2008 10:37

just remembered to phone and book table for lunch on day of christmas show and got last one

DD1 and I take a good friend of mine (who is like a granny to my DCs) to the theatre every christmas and lunch before it. I would've been kicking myself up and down if I'd not managed to get a table and I bought tickets for the show back in Sept!!!

FestiveGardenia · 08/12/2008 10:47

Lovely tradition .

Problem with work is it is on the computer.

My working hour (bear in mind this is ds's nap and my only time to get my work done!) Word / MN / Word / MN / Word / MN / email / Word / MN / MN / email / MN / email / Christmas shopping / MN / email / Christmas shopping / MN / email / snack / MN

etc
etc
etc

till finally box pops up saying "Are you still editing this Word document or do you want to save and close?"

dizzyjingles · 08/12/2008 10:53

well I think so but last year it was the day I got a + for Dylan and DH has announced there had better not be a repeat performance of that

Dylan in her buggy seat now having a nap - am hoping that sitting up will help her but she's still coughing

right VG you go and do some work and I'll go and do some housework then !!!

MerrySibhmas · 08/12/2008 12:35

Thanks for all of the tips on the tummy problems. They do seem to have eased. I'd tried one of those baby massage tips on her, and I'll make a note of the others too. She slept until 9 this morning which is unheard of, and seems to have used the time to mend her tiny throat thank goodness.

We're making tissue paper snowmen here ...
and trying to ignore the domestic chaos around us.

The comment about the house was hilarious Dizzy - don't let her see mine!

dizzyjingles · 08/12/2008 12:46

sibh huge apologies for calling your wee princess a wee man

Dylan has been feeding and napping constantly and poor DD2 marched off upstairs and brought down her own pillow & duvet and camped on the couch - like her mother that one, likes her creature comforts

can see am going to get fark all done again as I just tried to put Dylan down and she's now wide awake again

worse still is that I just coughed [meep]

dizzyjingles · 08/12/2008 12:52

forgot to mention that she's lying under her duvet clutching a big box of kleenex hankies pathetically dabbing at her nose & sighing every so often - not prone to drama my DD2!!!

TwilightSurferChristmasAngel · 08/12/2008 12:54

Oops you're sore throat is probably a result of the move. Strange dusties being inhaled. Use a dust mask to clean anything today. Drink loads of water to cleanse your insides and suck on zinc lozenges.

Dizzy {{{{hugs}}}} mine didn't tag team me last night THANK GOODNESS!!!

Agree with Ann on the EVOO. I use olive oil religiously with Reese at the moment.

I AM SOOOO LATTEEEE!!!!! and DH forgot to take trash to curb AGAIN. ARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!!

Please remind me if I forget but I have the most incredible pictures of DD1 with Santa. Every year is the same thing...... SCREAM! {fgrin] She HATES Santa.

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 08/12/2008 13:00

sibh i have heard that if you drink orange juice (and are BF, otherwise would make fark all difference ) it can help push things along for LO

We had a lovely time at playgroup, got back DD1 put to bed, DD2 asleep in car seat....magic. However they both woke up after 40 mins . I know this is a break in their natural sleep pattern but i have no idea how to help them sleep through this. DD1 still looks shattered but putting her back in her room will only lead to tantrums so i'm not playing that game . Oh well, we are out to a party this afternoon with 1/2hr drive each way so i'm sure she'll get a cat nap sometime

dizzy I'm impressed your DD2 can bring her own duvet down, My DD1's is so lashed down onto the bed to stop her kicking it off, even i can't get at it!

VG hopefully you can draw comfort that your working hour is more productive than mine

PF can you not fob the PTA off with your left toe? I'm sure you won't miss it just for a bit and it could be used to model finger puppets on a stall....just a thought

Emma feeding for England now - 2 wakeups last night and no illness so i think we are ramping up for a 4 month growth spurt [sigh]

DD1 been next door for a good 3 minutes, and very quiet so i think i'd best say adios, remove Emma from boob and go and survey the carnage

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 08/12/2008 13:12

Oh, bless her little cotton socks, DD1 has gone back to bed [welling up Mummy emoticon]. I was searchong round the house trying to find her in the deafening silence and found her tucked up in bed. I expect she'll reappear soob but it is TOO cute

Emma on the other hand has just poo'd on my lap....not so cute

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 08/12/2008 13:13

forgive the typo's

dizzyjingles · 08/12/2008 13:21

its only because I've run out of nails for the nail gun sazz

ataraxmas · 08/12/2008 13:38

sazzles - would love to come with you to see Bristol Santa but the next couple of weeks are completely manic. Next year? .

dizzy I second/third/whatever the olive oil for cradle cap.

DD had nits last week!! . Can you believe it? I was sooooooo angry with the horrible creatures and had no idea how to get rid of nit eggs in baby hair. Lovely MN people suggested olive oil (or shaving it ), worked a treat so clearly has multiple uses...

I was thinking, we should probably book somewhere for 13th Jan. Anyone who is coming, restaurant options are here! . Any preferences? I was thinking maybe the one with the sofas (as we have had so many virtual ones).
Also, any definites? I don't mind doing a provisional booking.

ts, that is a beautiful picture of your girls, they are absolutely gorgeous!

dizzyjingles · 08/12/2008 16:34

there is someone else on MN called jumpingjinglebellsdizzy [meep]

sambo303mincepiesconsumed · 08/12/2008 16:37

TS what lovely girls, how did you manage to get a snap of a smile from Reese? DS always stops all his cute faces when he sees the camera and just stares at it

Buckets I am 32J if you've still a bra needing a home - I bought 2 which I alternate - hence they are looking a wee bit worn

Ann do you know if I can soak the Bambinex all in ones? I know you don't soak but I usually soak and do a wash every other day, but these have integral wraps which usually should not be soaked

DS has his second injections tomorrow, I'm dreading it, poor wee thing

On a positive note, I endured my smear test this morning. Hate them so feel chuffed it;s over for a while.

sambo303mincepiesconsumed · 08/12/2008 19:00

sorry folks, I killed the thread!

AndHeaVanAnnNatureSing · 08/12/2008 19:19

Sambo - sorry I have no idea about soaking all in ones as I don't use them. Strictly shaped nappies with a wrap over in this house. Try going on the general chat thread for cloth users, someone on there is bound to know.

Makes a change for someone else to kill the thread though - it's usually me that does it

TwilightSurferChristmasAngel · 08/12/2008 19:24

hello.

reese did wonderfully at her doctor's appointment today. she weighs 15 pounds and is 25.5 inches long (sorry you'll have to convert). the doctor seems to think her skin thing is due to her formula so out with the old and in with the new. she is now on similac isomil advanced (in short, soy). it could be the type of formula OR it could be that we are now using powder. i didn't put 2 and 2 together until the doctor and i chatted. either way putting her on liquid soy should fix the problem. i've also been instructed to have reese soak daily in a tub of warm water to get the old skin off sloath off quicker then coat her head to toe in Eucerin Original Creme. i've just coated her and it's a little slippery. and as for her shots, she had all but one. if things go well for her in a week or so i can consider getting the last one or just wait till six months.

i think that about covers it. took 20minutes to type that paragraph with dd1 interrupting ever other word.
